In this paper we obtain a bound TeV on the scale of space-time non-commutativity considering photon-neutrino interactions. We compute *-dipole moments and *-charge radii originating from space-time non-commutativity and compare them with the dipole moments calculated in the neutrino-mass extended standard model (SM). The computation depends on the nature of the neutrinos, Dirac versus Majorana, their mass and the energy scale. We focus on Majorana neutrinos. The *-charge radius is found to be at TeV.Received: 17 June 2004, Published online: 18 August 2004  相似文献

We investigate the physics potential of the annihilation decays in the standard model and beyond. In a naive factorization approach, the branching ratios are estimated to be and . In the framework of QCD factorization, we compute the non-factorizable corrections and get , . Future measurements of these decays would be useful for testing the factorization frameworks. The smallness of these decays in the SM makes them sensitive probes of new physics. As an example, we will consider the possible admixture of the (V + A) charge current to the standard (V-A) current. This admixture will give a significant contribution to the decays.Received: 29 August 2003, Revised: 17 January 2004, Published online: 19 March 2004Corresponding author: Y.D. Yang  相似文献

The fragmentation functions of the pion with distinction between , , and are studied in the Field-Feynman recursive model, by taking into account the flavor structure in the excitation of quark-antiquark pairs by the initial quarks. The obtained analytical results are compatible with the available empirical results. The framework is also extended to predict the fragmentation functions of the kaon with distinction between , , , and . This work gives a significant modification of the original model, and the predictions can be tested by future experiments on the fragmentation functions of the kaon.Received: 30 January 2003, Revised: 12 June 2003, Published online: 15 August 2003Bo-Qiang Ma: Corresponding author  相似文献

We calculate the absorption probability of photons radiated from the surface of the Sun by a left-handed neutrino with definite mass and a typical momentum for which we choose |p1| = 0.2 MeV, producing a heavier right-handed antineutrino. Considering the two transitions and we obtain the two oscillation lengths L12 = 4960.8 m, L23 = 198.4 m, the two absorption probabilities P12abs. = 2.5 x 10-67, P23abs. = 1.2 x 10-58 and the two absorption ranges au, au, using a neutrino mass differences of meV, meV and associated transition dipole moments. We collect all necessary theoretical ingredients, i.e. neutrino mass and mixing scheme, induced electromagnetic transition dipole moments, quadratic charged lepton mass asymmetries and their interdependence.Received: 4 November 2003, Revised: 23 March 2004, Published online: 5 May 2004  相似文献

The Pauli exclusion principle (PEP) has been tested for nucleons (n,p) in and nuclei, using the results of background measurements with the prototype of the Borexino detector, the Counting Test Facility (CTF). The approach consisted of a search for , n, p and/or s emitted in a non-Paulian transition of 1P- shell nucleons to the filled 1S 1/2 shell in nuclei. Similarly, the Pauli-forbidden decay processes were searched for. Due to the extremely low background and the large mass (4.2 tons) of the CTF detector, the following most stringent up-to-date experimental bounds on PEP violating transitions of nucleons have been established: , , , , and , all at C.L.Received: 18 June 2004, Published online: 1 October 2004PACS: 11.30.-j, 24.80. + y, 23.20.-g, 27.20. + nG. Approximately 438 pb-1 of e + e- data from the OPAL detector, taken with the LEP collider running at centre-of-mass energies of 192-209 GeV, are analyzed to search for evidence of chargino pair production, , or neutralino associated production, . Limits are set at the 95% confidence level on the product of the cross-section for the process and its branching ratios to topologies containing jets and missing energy, or jets with a lepton and missing energy, and on the product of the cross-section for and its branching ratio to jets. R-parity conservation is assumed throughout this paper. When these results are interpreted in the context of the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, limits are also set on the masses of the and , and regions of the parameter space of the model are ruled out. Nearly model-independent limits are also set at the 95% confidence level on with the assumption that each chargino decays via a W boson, and on with the assumed to decay via a Z0.Received: 15 December 2003, Revised: 16 February 2004, Published online: 23 April 2004  相似文献

A search for pair-produced charged Higgs bosons was performed in the data collected by the DELPHI detector at LEP II at centre-of-mass energies from 189 GeV to 209 GeV. Five different final states, , , , and were considered, accounting for the major expected decays in type I and type II Two Higgs Doublet Models. No significant excess of data compared to the expected Standard Model processes was observed. The existence of a charged Higgs boson with mass lower than 76.7 GeV/c2 (type I) or 74.4 GeV/c2 (type II) is excluded at the 95% confidence level, for a wide range of the model parameters. Model independent cross-section limits have also been calculated.Received: 30 September 2003, Revised: 12 February 2004, Published online: 8 April 2004  相似文献

We have studied the reactions as well as the binary channel , in order to search for deformed states, which form rotational bands in 40Ca. We observe positive- and negative-parity bands. The negative-parity band is proposed to be a partner of an inversion doublet with the positive-parity states being based on 4p-4h configurations. The properties of the positive-parity states are discussed on the basis of the shell model and the parity doublet on the basis of a cluster model with intrinsic reflection asymmetric shapes.Received: 2 May 2003, Revised: 23 September 2003, Published online: 20 January 2004PACS: 21.10.-k Properties of nuclei; nuclear energy levels - 21.60.Gx Cluster models  相似文献

Tau-pair production in the process was studied using data collected by the DELPHI experiment at LEP2 during the years 1997 - 2000. The corresponding integrated luminosity is 650 pb-1. The values of the cross-section obtained are found to be in agreement with QED predictions. Limits on the anomalous magnetic and electric dipole moments of the tau lepton are deduced.Received: 18 September 2003, Revised: 26 March 2004, Published online: 11 May 2004  相似文献

Neutron transition densities for the 2 + -8 + levels in 90Zr were extracted in the process of analyzing scattering at 400 MeV. They were compared with the calculated neutron transition densities and with the experimental proton transition densities. Radial distributions of the experimental neutron and proton transition densities for each state were found to be different.Received: 9 January 2004, Revised: 4 April 2004, Published online: 14 September 2004PACS: 25.40.Ep Inelastic proton scattering - 21.10.-k Properties of nuclei; nuclear energy levels  相似文献

We have investigated, in the framework of proximity effect theory, the interface transparency of superconducting/normal metal layered systems which consist of Nb and high paramagnetic Pd deposited by dc magnetron sputtering. The obtained value is relatively high, as expected by theoretical arguments. This leads to a large value of the ratio although Pd does not exhibit any magnetic ordering.Received: 12 December 2003, Published online: 20 April 2004PACS: 74.45. + c Proximity effects; Andreev effect; SN and SNS junctions - 74.78.Fk Multilayers, superlattices, heterostructuresS.L. We compute the spectra of exotic pentaquarks and monopole excitations of thelow-lying and baryons in a chiral soliton model. Once the low-lying baryon properties are fit, the other states are predicted without any more adjustable parameters. This approach naturally leads to a scenario in which the mass spectrum of the next to lowest-lying states is fairly well approximatedby the ideal mixing pattern of the representation of flavor SU(3). We compare our results to predictions obtained in other pictures for pentaquarks and speculate about the spin-parity assignment for and .Received: 21 April 2004, Revised: 19 May 2004, Published online: 23 July 2004PACS: 12.39.Dc Skyrmions - 14.20.-c Baryons (including antiparticles) - 14.80.-j Other particles (including hypothetical)  相似文献

We analyse how the reaction can serve to constrain the gluon distributions. Our results are based on a code of partonic event generator type which includes full NLO corrections. We conclude that there are phase space domains in which either the gluon in the photon or the gluon in the proton give important contributions to the cross section, which should be observable in HERA experiments.Received: 8 December 2003, Revised: 19 January 2004, Published online: 12 March 2004  相似文献

We present empirical relations that connect the dimensionless ratios of low energy fermion masses for the charged lepton, up-type quark and down-type quark sectors and the CKM elements: and . Explaining these relations from first principles imposes strong constraints on the search for the theory of flavor. We present a simple set of normalized Yukawa matrices, with only two real parameters and one complex phase, which accounts with precision for these mass relations and for the CKM matrix elements and also suggests a simpler parametrization of the CKM matrix. The proposed Yukawa matrices accommodate the measured CP-violation, giving a particular relation between standard model CP-violating phases, . According to this relation the measured value of is close to the maximum value that can be reached, for . Finally, the particular mass relations between the quark and charged lepton sectors find their simplest explanation in the context of grand unified models through the use of the Georgi-Jarlskog factor.Received: 31 July 2004, Revised: 22 September 2004, Published online: 9 November 2004  相似文献
