The main objects of study in this article are two classes of Rankin–Selberg L-functions, namely L(s,f×g) and L(s, sym2(g)× sym2(g)), where f,g are newforms, holomorphic or of Maass type, on the upper half plane, and sym2(g) denotes the symmetric square lift of g to GL(3). We prove that in general, i.e., when these L-functions are not divisible by L-functions of quadratic characters (such divisibility happening rarely), they do not admit any LandauSiegel zeros. Such zeros, which are real and close to s=1, are highly mysterious and are not expected to occur. There are corollaries of our result, one of them being a strong lower bound for special value at s=1, which is of interest both geometrically and analytically. One also gets this way a good bound onthe norm of sym2(g).  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to determine the b-functions of all the prehomogeneous vector spaces associated to nilpotent orbits in the Dynkin–Kostant theory for all the complex simple algebraic groups of exceptional type. Our method to calculate b-functions is based on the structure theorem for b-functions of several variables and the functional equations for them.  相似文献

We introduce new classes of sets called Λ g -closed sets and Λ g -open sets in topological spaces. We also investigate several properties of such sets. It turns out that Λ g -closed sets and Λ g -open sets are weaker forms of closed sets and open sets, respectively and stronger forms of g-closed sets and g-open sets, respectively. In this paper we consider the formally symmetric differential expressionM [.] of any order (odd or even) ≥ 2. We characterise the dimension of the quotient spaceD(T max)/D(T min) associated withM[.] in terms of the behaviour of the determinants det [[f rgs](∞)] where 1 ≤n ≤ (order of the expression +1); here [fg](∞) = lim [fg](x), where [fg](x) is the sesquilinear form in f andg associated withM. We can consider the Riemann-Stieltjes integral dg as an integral of a point function f with respect to an interval function g. We could extend it to the Henstock-Stieltjes integral. In this paper, we extend it to a generalized Stieltjes integral dg of a point function f with respect to a function g of divisions of an interval. Then we prove for this integral the standard results in the theory of integration, including the controlled convergence theorem.   相似文献

For every Jacobi form of Shimura type over H × ℂ, a system of L-functions associated to it is given. These L-functions can be analytically continued to the whole complex plane and satisfy a kind of functional equation. As a consequence, Hecke’s inverse theorem on modular forms is extended to the context of Jacobi forms with Shimura type.  相似文献

The famous theorem of Belyi states that the compact Riemann surface X can be defined over the number field if and only if X can be uniformized by a finite index subgroup Γ of a Fuchsian triangle group Λ. As a result such surfaces are now called Belyi surfaces. The groups PSL(2,q),q=p n are known to act as the groups of automorphisms on such surfaces. Certain aspects of such actions have been extensively studied in the literature. In this paper, we deal with symmetries. Singerman showed, using acertain result of Macbeath, that such surfaces admit a symmetry which we shall call in this paper the Macbeath-Singerman symmetry. A classical theorem by Harnack states that the set of fixed points of a symmetry of a Riemann surface X of genus g consists of k disjoint Jordan curves called ovals for some k ranging between 0 and g+1. In this paper we show that given an odd prime p, a Macbetah-Singerman symmetry of Belyi surface with PSL(2,p) as a group of automorphisms has at most  相似文献

It is shown that every bundle M of complex spinormodules over the Clifford bundle Cl(g) of a Riemannian space(M, g) with local model (V, h)is associated with an lpin(Lipschitz) structure on M, this being a reduction of theO(h)-bundle of all orthonormal frames on M to the Lipschitzgroup Lpin(h) of all automorphisms of a suitably defined spinspace. An explicit construction is given of the total space of theLpin(h)-bundle defining such a structure. If the dimension mof M is even, then the Lipschitz group coincides with the complexClifford group and the lpin structure can be reduced to a pin c structure. If m = 2n – 1, then a spinor module on M is of the Cartan type: its fibres are 2 n -dimensional anddecomposable at every point of M, but the homomorphism of bundlesof algebras Cl(g) End globally decomposes if, andonly if, M is orientable. Examples of such bundles are given. The paper studies a generalized Hadamard matrix H = (g i j) of order n with entries gi j from a group G of order n. We assume that H satisfies: (i) For m k, G = {g m i g k i -1 i = 1,...., n} (ii) g 1i = g i1 = 1 for each i; (iii) g ij -1 = g ji for all i, j. Conditions (i) and (ii) occur whenever G is a(P, L) -transitivity for a projective plane of order n. Condition (iii) holds in the case that H affords a symmetric incidence matrix for the plane. Assuming the generalized Riemann hypothesis (GRH) and Artin conjecture for Artin L-functions, we prove that there exists a totally real number field of any fixed degree (>1) with an arbitrarily large discriminant whose normal closure has the full symmetric group as Galois group and whose class number is essentially as large as possible. One ingredient is an unconditional construction of totally real fields with small regulators. Another is the existence of Artin L-functions with large special values. Assuming the GRH and Artin conjecture it is shown that there exist an Artin L-functions with arbitrarily large conductor whose value at s=1 is extremal and whose associated Galois representation has a fixed image, which is an arbitrary nontrivial finite irreducible subgroup of GL(n, ) with property Gal T .  相似文献

A good robust functional should, if possible, be efficient at the model, smooth, and have a high breakdown point. M-estimators can be made efficient and Fréchet differentiable by choosing appropriate ψ-functions but they have a breakdown point of at most 1/(p + 1) in p dimensions. On the other hand, the local smoothness of known high breakdown functionals has not been investigated. It is known that Rousseeuw's minimum volume ellipsoid estimator is not differentiable and that S-estimators based on smooth functions force a trade-off between efficiency and breakdown point. However, by using a two-step M-estimator based on the minimum volume ellipsoid we show that it is possible to obtain a highly efficient, Fréchet differentiable estimator whilst still retaining the breakdown point. This result is extended to smooth S-estimators.  相似文献

Let = {F 1, F 2,…, F m} and H be a factorization and a subdigraph of G, respectively. is called k-orthogonal to H if each F i , 1 ⩽ im, has exactly k arcs in common with H. In this paper it is proved that every (mg+m−1,m+1)-digraph has a (g, f)-factorization k-orthogonal to any given subdigraph with km arcs if k ⩽ min{g (x), g +(x)} for any xV(G) and that every (mg, mf)-digraph has a (g, f)-factorization orthogonal to any given directed m-star if 0 ⩽ g(x) ⩽ f(x) for any xV(G). In this paper the author first introduce a new concept of L p -dual mixed volumes of star bodies which extends the classical dual mixed volumes. Moreover, we extend the notions of L p intersection body to L p -mixed intersection body. Inequalities for L p -dual mixed volumes of L p -mixed intersection bodies are established and the results established here provide new estimates for these type of inequalities. Let p be a prime, and let G = \textS\textpg( \mathbbZ ) \Gamma = {\text{S}}{{\text{p}}_g}\left( \mathbb{Z} \right) be the Siegel modular group of genus g. This paper is concerned with p-adic families of zeta functions and L-functions of Siegel modular forms; the latter are described in terms of motivic L-functions attached to Sp g ; their analytic properties are given. Critical values for the spinor L-functions are discussed in relation to p-adic constructions. Rankin’s lemma of higher genus is established. A general conjecture on a lifting of modular forms from GSp2m × GSp2m to GSp4m (of genus g = 4 m) is formulated. Constructions of p-adic families of Siegel modular forms are given using Ikeda–Miyawaki constructions.  相似文献
