The structural, magnetic and optical properties of (ZnO)1−x(MnO2)x (with x = 0.03 and 0.05) thin films deposited by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) were studied. The pellets used as target, sintered at different temperatures ranging from 500 °C to 900 °C, were prepared by conventional solid state method using ZnO and MnO2 powders. The observation of non-monotonic shift in peak position of most preferred (1 0 1) ZnO diffraction plane in XRD spectra of pellets confirmed the substitution of Mn ions in ZnO lattice of the sintered targets. The as-deposited thin film samples are found to be polycrystalline with the preferred orientation mostly along (1 1 0) diffraction plane. The UV-vis spectroscopy of the thin films revealed that the energy band gap exhibit blue shift with increasing Mn content which could be attributed to Burstein-Moss shift caused by Mn doping of the ZnO. The deposited thin films exhibit room temperature ferromagnetism having effective magnetic moment per Mn atom in the range of 0.9-1.4μB for both compositions.  相似文献

This paper investigates the structural, compositional and magnetic properties of vanadium doped ZnO bulk samples prepared by solid state reaction technique. The Rietveld refinement analysis for XRD results of samples showed small change in lattice parameters for 3 and 5% vanadium doped ZnO samples indicating the substitution of Zn2+ ions by vanadium ions in ZnO lattice. Raman spectroscopy reveals the change in ZnO modes positions due to vanadium doping. The appearance of E1 and E2 modes showed that the wurtzite structure of ZnO is still maintained after doping of vanadium oxide. XPS analysis confirms the presence of the different elements and oxidation states of vanadium ions. M-H curves obtained from VSM showed weak ferromagnetism in the samples. The observation of ferromagnetic behavior indicates the formation of ZnVO phase with V2+ ion substitution in the ZnO lattice. XPS scans of the etched bulk samples confirmed the 2+ oxidation state of vanadium ions in our samples explaining the origin of ferromagnetism.  相似文献

Heavily doped Zn1−xMnxO (x = 0.3) films were prepared by polymeric precursor method onto glass substrates and their structural, morphological, optical and magnetic properties carefully studied. Undoped ZnO films were also prepared for the purpose of comparison. The polymeric precursor method consists in preparing a coating solution from the Pechini process followed by a three-step thermal treatment of the as deposited films at temperatures up to 550 °C for 30 min. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis reveals the typical hexagonal wurtzite structure of the undoped ZnO film. The addition of Mn ions leads to a dramatic reduction of the crystalline quality of film although no evidence of affectation by secondary phases is found. The affectation of the ZnO structure may be due to the formation of Mn clusters and generation of defects such as vacancies and interstitials. Here, the solubility limit of the Mn ions in ZnO should play an important role and it is discussed in the framework of ionic radius and valence states. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis shows that the surface of the doped sample was affected by the presence of cracks due, probably, to the expansion of the lattice constant of Zn0.7Mn0.3O caused by the Mn incorporation in the ZnO lattice. The existence of cluster-type structures on the surface is corroborated by atomic force microscopy (AFM). The EDX analysis, carried out on some areas in the film, yielded Mn/Zn ratios of about 0.3, which points out to an effective Mn incorporation in the film. On the other hand, the absorption edge of the doped films is red shifted to 2.9 eV (3.24 eV for undoped ZnO film) and the absorption edge is less sharp due, probably, to amorphous states appearing in the band gap. No evidence of dilute magnetic semiconductor mean-field ferromagnetic behavior is observed. The temperature dependence of the magnetization follows a Curie law suggesting pure paramagnetic behavior. The very small s-shape behavior of M versus H (without hysteresis) observed at room temperature on selected areas would stem from Mn clusters which are easily formed in transition metal doped ZnO.  相似文献

In this work, the structural and magnetic properties of Tb3 (Fe28−xCox) V1.0 (x=0, 3, 6) compounds have been investigated. The structural characterization of compounds by X-ray powder diffraction is an evidence for a monoclinic Nd3(Fe, Ti)29-type structure (A2/m space group). The refined lattice parameters a and b (but not c) and the unit cell volume V, obtained from the XRD data by the Rietveld method, are found to decrease with increasing Co concentration. The unit cell parameters behavior has been attributed to the smaller Co atoms and a preferential substitution of Fe by Co. The anisotropy field (Ha) as well as critical field (Hcr) was measured using the singular point detection (SPD) technique from 5 to 300 K in a pulsed magnetic field of up to 30 T. At T=5 K, a FOMP of type 2 was observed for all samples and persists at all temperatures up to 300 K. For sample x=0, Hcr=10.6 and 2.0 T at 5 and 300 K, respectively, is equal to that reported earlier. The occurrence of canting angles between the magnetic sublattices during the magnetization process instead of high-order anisotropy contributions (at room temperature are usually negligible) has been considered to explain the survival of the FOMP at room temperature. The anisotropy and critical fields behave differently for samples with x=0, 3 compared with x=6. The observed behavior has been related to the fact that the Co substitution for Fe takes place with a preferential entrance in the inequivalent crystallographic sites of the 3:29 structure. The contribution of the Tb-sublattice in the Tb3(Fe, V)29 compound with uniaxial anisotropy has been scaled from the anisotropy field measured on a Y3(Fe, V)29 single crystal with easy plane anisotropy.  相似文献

Studies on La0.7Sr0.3Co1−xMnxO3 (x=0-0.5) compounds evidence that the interaction between Mn and Co ions in this system is antiferromagnetic super-exchange and not ferromagnetic (FM) double-exchange (DE). As a result, antiferromagnetism and magnetic glassiness develop steadily with increasing Mn content and the system becomes a spin glass at x∼0.1. Analyses of high-field magnetization data indicate that the system consists of two major phases: a metallic FM phase which magnetically saturates in rather low field, and an insulating non-FM phase which has a linear dependence of magnetization on magnetic field. In the low doping regime, the fraction of the non-FM component expands with temperature at the expense of the FM phase and becomes maximal at TC. Ferromagnetism reappears in highly doped (x≥0.2) compounds due to the presence of DE interaction between the Mn ions. The small volume fraction of the FM phase derived from the M(H) data in high-field region supports the coexistence of insulating and FM behaviors in the highly doped samples.  相似文献

We report on the structural and magnetic properties of the nanocrystalline samples of Zn1−x(TM)xO (TM=Mn, Co and x=0.02, 0.05, 0.10) synthesized by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method using different carrier gases i.e., Argon (Ar), Oxygen (O2) and Nitrogen (N2). X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) studies reveal wurtzite structure of pure ZnO in all the samples and particle sizes in the range of 15-40 nm. No evidence of any secondary phases having room temperature ferromagnetic behavior has been observed through XRD and TEM studies. Magnetic measurements reveal presence of mixed magnetic phases in the samples, which may be the reason for the low saturation magnetization in the nanoparticles.  相似文献

采用溶胶凝胶法在玻璃衬底上制备了Fe,Co共掺Zn0.9FexCo0.1-xO(x=0,0.03,0.05,0.07)系列薄膜.

Polycrystalline powders of the layered MnPS3 compound have been intercalated with K+ ions by ion-exchange to yield the K2xMn1 − xPS3 intercalate. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy has been applied to learn about the electronic structure of this compound. In particular, we have studied the XPS spectra of the Mn 2p and 3p, P and S 2p, K 2p and 3p core levels and of the valence band region. The binding energies for various core levels of the elements present in this compound and their observed chemical shifts are analyzed. The data give evidence for the lack of non-equivalent atoms of K, Mn, P and S. Shake-up satellites are present at the Mn 2p and 3p core levels. The occurrence of such lines allows us to hypothesize that K2xMn1 − xPS3 is a large-gap insulating Mn compound. Confirmation that only an ion transfer accompanies the intercalation process is given from both the strong observed similarity with the corresponding XPS spectra in MnPS3 and the observed binding energy positions of the K 2p and 3p levels. As regards the valence band XPS spectrum, the observed analogies with the corresponding XPS spectra of the pure compound and of other K compounds have allowed us to single out two regions and their probable contributors.  相似文献

The structural, electronic and magnetic properties of TMGen (TM=Mn, Co, Ni; n=1-13) have been investigated using spin polarized density functional theory. The transition metal (TM) atom prefers to occupy surface positions for n<9 and endohedral positions for n≥9. The critical size of the cluster to form endohedral complexes is at n=9, 10 and 11 for Mn, Co and Ni respectively. The binding energy of TMGen clusters increases with increase in cluster size. The Ni doped Gen clusters have shown higher stability as compared to Mn and Co doped Gen clusters. The HOMO-LUMO gap for spin up and down electronic states of Gen clusters is found to change significantly on TM doping. The magnetic moment in TMGen is introduced due to the presence of TM. The magnetic moment is mainly localized at the TM site and neighbouring Ge atoms. The magnetic moment is quenched in NiGen clusters for all n except for n=2, 4 and 8.  相似文献

The electronic structure of polycrystalline ferromagnetic Zn1−xCoxO (0.05≤x≤0.15) and the oxidation state of Co in it, have been investigated. The Co-doped polycrystalline samples are synthesized by a combustion method and are ferromagnetic at room temperature. XPS and optical absorption studies show evidence for Co2+ ions in the tetrahedral symmetry, indicating substitution of Co2+ in the ZnO lattice. However, powder XRD and electron diffraction data show the presence of Co metal in the samples. This give evidence to the fact that some Co2+ ion are incorporated in the ZnO lattice which gives changes in the electronic structure whereas ferromagnetism comes from the Co metal impurities present in the samples.  相似文献

(In1−xFex)2O3 (x = 0.02, 0.05, 0.2) powders were prepared by a solid state reaction method and a vacuum annealing process. A systematic study was done on the structural and magnetic properties of (In1−xFex)2O3 powders as a function of Fe concentration and annealing temperature. The X-ray diffraction and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy results confirmed that there were not any Fe or Fe oxide secondary phases in vacuum-annealed (In1−xFex)2O3 samples and the Fe element was incorporated into the indium oxide lattice by substituting the position of indium atoms. The X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy revealed that both Fe2+ and Fe3+ ions existed in the samples. Magnetic measurements indicated that all samples were ferromagnetic with the magnetic moment of 0.49-1.73 μB/Fe and the Curie temperature around 783 K. The appearance of ferromagnetism was attributed to the ferromagnetic coupling of Fe2+ and Fe3+ ions via an electron trapped in a bridging oxygen vacancy.  相似文献

Zn1−xCoxO (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.15) thin films grown on Si (1 0 0) substrates were prepared by a sol-gel technique. The effects of Co doped on the structural, optical properties and surface chemical valence states of the Zn1−xCoxO (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.15) films were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), ultraviolet-visible spectrometer and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). XRD results show that the Zn1−xCoxO films retained a hexagonal crystal structure of ZnO with better c-axis preferred orientation compared to the undoped ZnO films. The optical absorption spectra suggest that the optical band-gap of the Zn1−xCoxO thin films varied from 3.26 to 2.79 eV with increasing Co content from x = 0 to x = 0.15. XPS studies show the possible oxidation states of Co in Zn1−xCoxO (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.05), Zn0.90Co0.10O and Zn0.85Co0.15O are CoO, Co3O4 and Co2O3, with an increase of Co content, respectively.  相似文献

An evolutionary optimization process involving combination chemistry was employed in an attempt to develop Y3Al5O12 (YAG). The combination chemistry process utilized here consisted the doping of the YAG host with appropriate amounts of red (R), green (G), and blue (B) dopants in a single layer, for use in tricolor white light. The doped YAG was acieved by means of the non-hydrolytic sol-gel route. Four samples were prepared, three of which were mono-doped samples containing 1.0% of a certain lanthanide (Eu3+, Tb3+, or Tm3+) ion, while the fourth contained the three ions. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffractometry and photoluminescence. The diffraction pattern of the mono-doped samples synthered at 800 °C for 16 h displayed peaks corresponding to the Y3Al5O12 (YAG) phase, while the sample doped with the three ions revealed the presence of a mixture of Y3Al5O12 (YAG) and Y4Al2O9 (YAM) phases. The emission spectra of the three mono-doped YAG samples displayed the typical bands of the blue, green, and red emission of the corresponding lanthanide ions. As for the sample doped with the three lanthanide ions; it simultaneously emitted R, G and B lights. The green emission (546 nm) was more intense and narrow in relation to the red and blue emissions, which may be due to differences in the size of the three incorporated ions.  相似文献

Co doped TiO2 nanoparticles have been synthesized by a simple sol-gel route taking 7.5, 9.5 and 10.5 mol% of cobalt concentration. Formation of nanoparticles is confirmed by XRD and TEM. Increase in d-spacing occurs for (0 0 4) and (2 0 0) peak with increase in impurity content. Valence states of Co and its presence in the doped material is confirmed by XPS and EDX. The entire vacuum annealed samples show weak ferromagnetism. Increased magnetization is found for 9.5 mol% but this value again decreases for 10.5 mol% due to antiferromagnetic interactions. A blocking temperature of 37.9 K is obtained, which shows shifting to high temperature as the dopant concentration is increased. The air annealed sample shows only paramagnetic behavior. Temperature dependent magnetic measurements for the air annealed sample shows antiferromagnetic behavior with a Curie-Weiss temperature of −16 K. Here we report that oxygen vacancy and cobalt aggregates are a key factor for inducing ferromagnetism-superparamagnetism in the vacuum annealed sample. Appearance of negative Curie-Weiss temperature reveals the presence of antiferromagnetic Co3O4, which is the oxidation result of metallic Co or cobalt clusters present on the host TiO2.  相似文献

In this paper, we have investigated Mn-doped SnO2 powder samples prepared by solid-state reaction method. X-ray diffraction showed a single phase polycrystalline rutile structure. The atomic content of Mn ranged from ∼0.8 to 5 at%. Room temperature M-H loops showed a ferromagnetic behavior for all samples. The ferromagnetic Sn0.987Mn0.013O2 showed a coercivity Hc=545 Oe, which is among the highest reported for dilute magnetic semiconductors. The magnetic moment per Mn atom was estimated to be about 2.54 μB of the Sn0.9921Mn0.0079O2 sample. The average magnetic moment per Mn atom sharply decreases with increasing Mn content, while the effective fraction of the Mn ions contributing to the magnetization decreases. The magnetic properties of the Sn1−xMnxO2 are discussed based on the competition between the antiferromagnetic superexchange coupling and the F-center exchange coupling mechanism, in which both oxygen vacancies and magnetic ions are involved.  相似文献

The magnetic properties and the Griffiths singularity were investigated in Mn-site doped manganites of La0.45Sr0.55Mn1−xCoxO3 (x=0, 0.05, 0.10 and 0.15) in this work. The parent sample La0.45Sr0.55MnO3 undergoes a paramagnetic-ferromagnetic transition at TC=290 K and a ferromagnetic-antiferromagnetic transition at TN=191 K. The doping of Co ions enhances the ferromagnetism and suppresses the antiferromagnetism. The enhanced ferromagnetism results from the fact that the Co doping enhances the Mn3+-Mn4+ double-exchange interaction and induces the Co2+-Mn4+ ferromagnetic superexchange interaction. Detailed investigation on the magnetic behavior above TC exhibits that the Griffiths singularity takes place in this series of Mn-site doped compounds. The correlated disorder induced by the Co ionic doping, together with the phase competition from the ferromagnetic and the antiferromagnetic interactions among Mn ions, is responsible for the Griffiths singularity.  相似文献

The ferromagnetism in highly transparent and intrinsically n-type conducting zinc oxide doped with 3d transition metals (TM), is predicted to be defect mediated. We investigate the generation of deep defects in n-conducting 1 μm thick ZnO:TM films (TM=Co, Mn, Ti) with a nominal TM content of 0.02, 0.20 and 2.00 at.% grown by pulsed laser deposition on a-plane sapphire substrates using deep level transient spectroscopy. We find that a defect level is generated, independent of the TM content, located 0.31 and 0.27 eV below the conduction band minimum of ZnO:Mn and ZnO:Ti, respectively. Different defect levels are generated in dependence on the Co content in ZnO:Co. This work shows that an optimization of defect-related ferromagnetism in n-conducting ZnO:TM thin films will only be possible if the preparation sensitive formation of deep defects is controlled in the same time.  相似文献

Synthesis and magnetic properties of Mn doped ZnO nanowires   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Mn doped ZnO nanowires have been synthesized using a simple autocombustion method. The as-synthesized Mn doped ZnO nanowires were characterized by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. An increase in the hexagonal lattice parameters of ZnO is observed on increasing the Mn concentration. Optical absorption studies show an increment in the band gap with increasing Mn content, and also give evidence for the presence of Mn2+ ions in tetrahedral sites. All Zn1−xMnxO (0≤x≤0.25) samples are paramagnetic at room temperature. However, a large increase in the magnetization is observed below 50 K. This behavior, along with the negative value of the Weiss constant obtained from the linear fit to the susceptibility data below room temperature, indicate ferrimagnetic behavior. The origin of ferrimagnetism is likely to be either the intrinsic characteristics of the Mn doped samples, or due to some spinel-type impurity phases present in the samples that could not be detected.  相似文献

Ge1−xMnx (x = 0, 0.013, 0.0226, 0.0339, 0.0565, 0.0678, 0.0904, 0.113) films prepared by magnetron sputtering at 773 K had a Ge cubic structure except for x = 0.1130. Co ion implantation into these films can effectively prevent the formation of a second phase. Both single-doped and co-doped samples were ferromagnetic at room temperature. The d-d exchange interaction between the interstitial Mn (MnT) and the substituted Mn (MnGe) resulted in ferromagnetism in the sputtered films. Since Co ion implantation destroyed the MnT-MnGe-MnT complex, the saturated magnetization decreased. Hall measurements revealed that the Co ion implanted films were n-type semiconductors, and the anomalous Hall Effect (AHE) suggested the ferromagnetism was carrier-mediated in the implanted films.  相似文献

Mechanical and magnetic properties of the ZnO/Fe2O3 ceramic varistors have been examined by using mechanical analyzer, digital microhardness tester and vibrating sample magnetometer. The initial stress–strain behavior is found to be linear (elastic) then becomes nonlinear (plastic deformation) without reaching the failure limit up to the maximum available stress (0.07 MPa). The compressive elastic modulus varies between 0.2 and 0.8 MPa with Fe addition up to 0.50. Furthermore, an approximately monotonically linear decrease in VHN with increasing Fe content up to 50% has been observed for all applied loads, which closely resembles the behavior of the true hardness and the surface energy. The magnetic measurements revealed an antiferromagnetic to paramagnetic to transition for all Fe doped samples. The Fe free sample showed paramagnetic behavior down to 2 K. The Neel temperature moderately increased from 18 K at 0.05% Fe to 25 K at 0.5% Fe. The magnetization (M) versus applied magnetic field (H) did not reach saturation for all samples up to 9 Tesla. The saturated magnetization (per Fe contents) is low and found to decreases linearly at a rate of (−35 emu/g-Fe) in a clear manifestation of the strengthening of the antiferromagnetic exchange interaction with increasing Fe contents.  相似文献
