Among silver oxides, Ag4O4, i.e. high valence Ag(I)Ag(III) oxide, is interesting for applications in high energy batteries and for the development of antimicrobial coatings. We here show that ns UV pulsed laser deposition (PLD) in an oxygen containing atmosphere allows the synthesis of pure Ag4O4 nanocrystalline thin films, permitting at the same time to control the morphology of the material at the sub-micrometer scale. Ag4O4 films with a crystalline domain size of the order of tens of nm can be deposited provided the deposition pressure is above a threshold (roughly 4 Pa pure O2 or 20 Pa synthetic air). The formation of this particular high valence silver oxide is explained in terms of the reactions occurring during the expansion of the ablated species in the reactive atmosphere. In particular, expansion of the PLD plasma plume is accompanied by formation of low stability Ag-O dimers and atomic oxygen, providing reactive species at the substrate where the film grows. Evidence of reactive collisions in the expanding ablation plume is obtained by analysis of the plume visible shape in inert and reactive atmospheres. In addition, we show how the dimensionless deposition parameter L, relating the target-to-substrate distance to the ablation plume maximum expansion length, can be used to classify different growth regimes. It is thus possible to vary the stoichiometry and the morphology of the films, from compact and columnar to foam-like, by controlling both the gas pressure and the target-to-substrate distance.  相似文献

Properties of ultra-thin films are different from their single crystal counterparts due to the presence of (substrate induced) strain, different degree and type of (growth induced) disorder and different average doping (distribution of oxygen vacancies, for example). Here we briefly summarize main results on ultra-thin (99→1 unit cell (UC)) superconducting oxide films grown by laser ablation. Systematic studies show that BSCCO-2212, 2201, 2223, and LSCO-214 exhibit conductor-like Fermi edge, whereas materials containing “chains” (like YBCO-123) are prone to very rapid surface degradation, possibly related to critical oxygen loss at the outermost layers. Combined with X-ray analysis we have determined that BSCCO-2212 films undergo a structural phase transition at a nominal thickness of approximately 1 UC, converting the precursor Bi2O2.33 highly coherent ultra-thin film into the Bi-2212 structure. Our most recent angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) measurements on strained superconducting LSCO-214 thin films (with Tc of up to 44 K) are also discussed. For the first time the dispersion in ARPES spectra measured on such in situ grown strained LSCO film is shown. The relevance of these new results is briefly discussed.  相似文献

The effect of laser ablation on copper foil irradiated by a short 30 ns laser pulse was investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The laser fluence was varied from 8 to 16.5 J/cm2 and the velocity of the laser beam from 10 to 100 mm/s. This range of laser fluence is characterized by a different intensity of laser ablation. The experiments were done in two kinds of ambient atmosphere: air and argon jet gas.The chemical state and composition of the irradiated copper surface were determined using the modified Auger parameter (α′) and O/Cu intensity ratio. The ablation atmosphere was found to influence the size and chemical state of the copper particles deposited from the vapor plume. During irradiation in air atmosphere the copper nanoparticles react with oxygen and water vapor from the air and are deposited in the form of a CuO and Cu(OH)2 thin film. In argon atmosphere the processed copper surface is oxidized after exposure to air.  相似文献

The propagation of LaMnO3 laser ablation plume in oxygen background has been investigated using fast photography of overall visible plume emission and time-resolved optical emission spectroscopy. The plume expansion was studied with ambient oxygen pressures ranging from vacuum level to 100 Pa. Free-expansion, splitting, sharpening and stopping of the plume were observed at different pressures and time delays after the laser pulse. Time-resolved optical emission spectroscopy showed that oxides are mainly formed through reaction of the atomic species ablated from the target with oxygen in the gas-phase. These reactions mainly affect the content of lanthanum oxide in the plume, while emission of manganese oxide is barely observed in all the range of pressure investigated.  相似文献

Time-resolved photography was employed to study plasma dynamics and particle ejection of laser-irradiated iron oxide materials. Nano-particle powder, pressed powder pellets and sintered ceramics were ablated in air and Ar gas background by means of short laser pulses (Nd:YAG laser wavelength λ = 1064 nm and pulse duration τL ≈ 6 ns; KrF laser λ = 248 nm and τL ≈ 20 ns). Plasma plume dynamics significantly depended on sample morphology. The ejection of non-luminous particles up to several hundreds of microseconds after the laser pulse was observed for powder and pressed powder target materials. Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) was employed for element analysis of iron oxide powders, pressed pellets and sintered ceramics. LIBS spectra of the different targets were comparable to each other and qualitatively independent of target morphology.  相似文献

We have investigated the bipolar resistive switching of Y0.95Ca0.05MnO3 (YCMO) thin film on Si substrate using pulsed laser deposition. Simulation of Mn L3,2 near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure has been executed by CTM4XAS to corroborate the presence of a mixed-valence state of Mn ions and oxygen vacancies. The charge transport in the film is described by the space charge limited mechanism. Murgatroyd and space charge limited mechanism relations are used to calculate the mobility and other switching parameters at high resistance state. With a decrease in the switching layer (near to positively biased electrode) thickness, better resistive switching was observed. This work indicates that the localized switching thickness and temperature strongly affect the resistive switching of the YCMO film.  相似文献

FePt films that have a high degree of order S in their L10 structure (S>0.90) and well-defined [0 0 1] crystalline growth perpendicular to the film plane were fabricated on thermally oxidized Si substrates by the addition of an oxide and successive rapid thermal annealing (RTA). The mechanism of L10 ordering and [0 0 1] crystalline growth perpendicular to the film plane arising through the oxide addition and RTA process is also discussed. The L10 ordering (S>0.90) and the [0 0 1] crystalline growth were achieved by (1) lowering the activation energy due to in-plane tensile stress and the initiation of L10 ordering at a low temperature, (2) [0 0 1] crystalline growth through in-plane tensile stress, and (3) enhancement of atomic diffusion via the addition of an oxide and the resultant lowering of the ordering temperature. Effect (1) was observed in the case of SiO2 addition, effect (2) was generally observed in the case of oxide addition and the RTA process, and effect (3) was prominent in the case of ZnO addition. With the addition of ZnO, the L10 ordering started at below 400 °C and was completed at 500 °C. Finally, dot patterns were successfully fabricated down to a diameter of 15 nm using electron beam lithography, and the magnetic state of the dot pattern was observed by magnetic force microscopy.  相似文献

Thin films of La0.6Ca0.4CoO3 were grown by pulsed laser ablation with nanosecond and femtosecond pulses. The films deposited with femtosecond pulses (248 nm, 500 fs pulse duration) exhibit a higher surface roughness and deficiency in the cobalt content compared to the films deposited with nanosecond pulses (248 nm, 20 ns pulse duration). The origin of these pronounced differences between the films grown by ns and fs ablation has been studied in detail by time-resolved optical emission spectroscopy and imaging. The plumes generated by nanosecond and femtosecond ablation were analyzed in vacuum and in a background pressure of 60 Pa of oxygen. The ns-induced plume in vacuum exhibits a spherical shape, while for femtosecond ablation the plume is more elongated along the expansion direction, but with similar velocities for ns and fs laser ablation. In the case of ablation in the background gas similar velocities of the plume species are observed for fs and ns laser ablation. The different film compositions are therefore not related to different kinetic energies and different distributions of various species in the plasma plume which has been identified as the origin of the deficiency of species for other materials.  相似文献

We report on the effects of substrate, ambient oxygen pressure and deposition time on the crystal structure, and morphology of Sm0.55Nd0.45NiO3 solid solution nanostructured films synthesized by pulsed-laser deposition. In each film the structure was found to be consistent with a perovskite structure with preferential planes growth and reveals a strong orientation along the orthorhombic (2 1 0) plane of the perovskite subcell for the film deposited on NdGaO3 where highly crystalline films were obtained within 15 min deposition time with a low surface roughness of 8.79 nm. Similar structure is observed on Si (1 0 0) substrate only at O2 pressure of 0.4 mbar. The surface morphology of the different samples shows a net dense film structure with several droplets population. The nano-scaled droplets are in general spherical in shape; a detailed analysis indicates that the laser ablation of this nickelate family is governed to a certain extent by a heat transfer phenomenon.  相似文献

Carbon nitride films were deposited using ablation of graphite target by second harmonic radiation of Nd:YAG laser in nitrogen atmosphere. To produce high hardness films, the deposited particles should have sufficient kinetic energy to provide their efficient diffusion on a substrate surface for formation of crystal structure. However, a shock wave is arisen in ambient gas as a consequence of laser plasma explosive formation. This shock wave reflected from the substrate interacts with plume particles produced by the first laser pulse and decreases their kinetic energy. This results in decrease of film crystallinity. To improve film quality, two successive laser pulses was proposed to be used. At adjusting time delay, the particles induced by the second pulse wilt serve as a piston, which will push forward both stopped particles ablated by the first pulse and arisen from chemical reactions in ambient gas. An X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis of deposited films has shown an increase of content of sp 3 carbon atoms corresponding to crystalline phase, if double-pulse configuration is employed. The luminescence of excited C2 and CN molecules in laser plume at different distances from the target was studied to optimize the delay between laser pulses.  相似文献

We investigated spatiotemporal evolution of expanding ablation plume of aluminum created by a 100-fs, 1014–1015-W/cm2 laser pulse. For diagnosing dynamic behavior of ablation plume, we employed the spatiotemporally resolved X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) system that consists of a femtosecond-laser-plasma soft X-ray source and a Kirkpatrick–Baez (K–B) microscope. We successfully assigned the ejected particles by analyzing structure of absorption spectra near the L II,III absorption edge of Al, and we clarified the spatial distribution of Al+ ions, Al atoms, and liquid droplets of Al in the plume. We found that the ejected particles strongly depend the irradiated laser intensity. The spatial distribution of atomic density and the expansion velocity of each type of particle were estimated from the spatiotemporal evolution of ablation particles. We also investigated a temperature of the aluminum fine particles in liquid phase during the plume expansion by analyzing the slope of the L II,III absorption edge in case of 1014-W/cm2 laser irradiation where the nanoparticles are most efficiently produced. The result suggests that the ejected particles travel in a vacuum as a liquid phase with a temperature of about 2500 to 4200 K in the early stage of plume expansion.  相似文献

The V2O5 films were prepared by an RF sputtering method, and the amorphous films were colored by an UV excimer laser. The crystallinity of the as-grown V2O5 film was degenerated greatly by laser irradiation, as determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman studies. The transmission and complex refractive index spectra of the V2O5 film were affected by variations in the microstructure, including the surface morphology, crystalline structure, and substoichiometry with an oxygen deficiency. Considerable emissions due to oxygen vacancies and band transition of photoluminescence (PL) peaks were observed, and the peaks were significantly changed after laser irradiation. The variations in the optical properties in both films may be attributed to oxygen deficiency induced by laser irradiation.  相似文献

Multilayer films containing anionic iron phthalocyanine tetrasulfonate (FePcTsNa4) and cationic poly(diallydimethyl ammonium chloride) were prepared using electrostatic self-assembled layer-by-layer technique. The growth of the film was monitored by ultraviolet-visible absorption spectroscopy, and the morphology of the film was characterized by atomic force microscopy. Polarized visible spectra showed that macrocycles of FePcTsNa4 in the film presented a flat orientation relative to the plane of the solid substrates. The third-order nonlinear optical properties of the film were studied by using Z-scan technique with laser duration of 21 ps at the wavelength of 532 nm. The FePcTsNa4/PDDA film exhibited strong self-focusing effect with n2 value of 4.13 × 10−15 m2/W, which is 4 orders larger than that of FePcTsNa4 aqueous solution.  相似文献

The thermal oxidation process of metallic zinc on 6H-SiC(0 0 0 1) surface has been investigated by using atomic force microscopy (AFM), synchrotron radiation photoelectron spectroscopy (SRPES) and XPS methods. The AFM images characterize the surface morphology of ZnO film formed during the thermal oxidation and SRPES record the valence band, Si 2p and Zn 3d spectra at different stages. The O 1s peak is recorded by XPS because of the energy limit of the synchrotron radiation. Our results reveal that the silicon oxides layer of SiC substrate can be reduce by hot metallic zinc atom deposition. The oxygen atoms in the silicon oxides are captured by the zinc atoms to form ZnOx at the initial stage and as a result, the oxidized SiC surface are deoxidized. After the zinc deposition with the final thickness of 2.5 nm, the sample is exposed in oxygen atmosphere and annealed at different temperatures. According to the evolution of peaks integrated intensities, it is considered that the Zn/SiC system will lose zinc atoms during the annealing in oxygen flux at high temperature due to the low evaporation temperature of pure zinc. After further annealing in oxygen flux at higher temperature, the substrate is also oxidized and finally the interface becomes a stable SiC-SiOx-ZnO sandwich structure.  相似文献

Nanostructures based on iron oxides in the form of thin films were synthesized while laser chemical vapor deposition (LCVD) of elements from iron carbonyl vapors (Fe(CO)5) under the action of Ar+ laser radiation (λL = 488 nm) on the Si substrate surface with power density about 102 W/cm2 and vapor pressure 666 Pa. Analysis of surface morphology and relief of the deposited films was carried out with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). This analysis demonstrated their cluster structure with average size no more than 100 nm. It was found out that the thicker the deposited film, the larger sizes of clusters with more oxides of higher oxidized phases were formed. The film thickness (d) was 10 and 28 nm. The deposited films exhibited semiconductor properties in the range 170-340 K which were stipulated by oxide content with different oxidized phases. The width of the band gap Eg depends on oxide content in the deposited film and was varied in the range 0.30-0.64 eV at an electrical field of 1.6 × 103 V/m. The band gap Eg was varied in the range 0.46-0.58 eV at an electrical field of 45 V/m. The band gap which is stipulated by impurities in iron oxides Ei was varied in the range 0.009-0.026 eV at an electrical field of 1.6 × 103 V/m and was varied in the range 0-0.16 eV at an electrical field 45 V/m. These narrow band gap semiconductor thin films displayed of the quantum dimensional effect.  相似文献

Amorphous and polycrystalline zirconium oxide thin films have been deposited by reactive rf magnetron sputtering in a mixed argon/oxygen or pure oxygen atmosphere with no intentional heating of the substrate. The films were characterized by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE), and capacitance versus voltage (C-V) measurements to investigate the variation of structure, surface morphology, thickness of SiO2-like interfacial layer as well as dielectric characteristics with different oxygen partial pressures. The films deposited at low oxygen partial pressures (less than 15%) are amorphous and dense with a smooth surface. In contrast, the films prepared at an oxygen partial pressure higher than 73% are crystallized with the microstructure changing from the mixture of monoclinic and tetragonal phases to a single monoclinic structure. The film structural transition is believed to be consequences of decrease in the oxygen vacancy concentration in the film and of increase of the energetically neutral particles in the plasma due to an increased oxygen partial pressure. SE measurements showed that significant interfacial SiO2 growth has taken place above approximately 51%. The best C-V results in terms of relative dielectric constant values are obtained for thin films prepared at an oxygen partial pressure of 15%.  相似文献

We studied oxygen incorporation into ZnTe thin films with nitrogen and oxygen plasma during a plasma-assisted pulsed laser deposition (PA-PLD). It was shown that ZnTe:O layer formed with oxygen plasma exhibits an enhancement of optical transparency in visible spectral region due to the formation of amorphous TeOx. Especially, the ZnTe:NO deposited by PA-PLD under nitrogen and oxygen partial pressures with N2:O2 of 10:3 sccm showed p-type semiconducting characteristics and the formation of intermediate band at about 0.5–0.8 eV below the ZnTe band edge. These results for oxygen incorporation in ZnTe thin film such as the enhancement of optical transparency in visible spectral region and the intermediate band formation will be useful for optoelectronic devices or intermediate band solar cells.  相似文献

In this study, TiO2−xNx/TiO2 double layers thin film was deposited on ZnO (80 nm thickness)/soda-lime glass substrate by a dc reactive magnetron sputtering. The TiO2 film was deposited under different total gas pressures of 1 Pa, 2 Pa, and 4 Pa with constant oxygen flow rate of 0.8 sccm. Then, the deposition was continued with various nitrogen flow rates of 0.4, 0.8, and 1.2 sccm in constant total gas pressure of 4 Pa. Post annealing was performed on as-deposited films at various annealing temperatures of 400, 500, and 600 °C in air atmosphere to achieve films crystallinity. The structure and morphology of deposited films were evaluated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The chemical composition of top layer doped by nitrogen was evaluated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Photocatalytic activity of samples was measured by degradation of Methylene Blue (MB) dye. The optical transmittance of the multilayer film was also measured using ultraviolet-visible light (UV-vis) spectrophotometer. The results showed that by nitrogen doping of a fraction (∼1/5) of TiO2 film thickness, the optical transmittance of TiO2−xNx/TiO2 film was compared with TiO2 thin film. Deposited films showed also good photocatalytic and hydrophilicity activity at visible light.  相似文献
