Nanocrystalline titanium dioxide (TiO2) thin films composed of densely packed nanometer-sized grains have been successfully deposited onto an indium-doped-tin oxide (ITO) substrate. Then cadmium sulphoselenide (CdSSe) thin film was deposited onto pre-deposited TiO2 to form a TiO2/CdSSe film, at low temperature using a simple and inexpensive chemical method. The X-ray diffraction, selected area electron diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) and water contact angle techniques were used for film characterization. Purely rutile phase of TiO2 with super-hydrophilic and densely packed nanometer-sized spherical grains of approximate diameter 30-40 (±2) nm was observed. The increase in optical absorption was observed after CdSSe film deposition. Nest like surface morphology of CdSSe on TiO2 surface results in air trapping in the crevices which prevents water from adhering to the film with increase in water contact angle. Photosensitization of TiO2 with CdSSe was confirmed with light illumination intensity of 80 mW/cm2.  相似文献

In this study, nano-TiO2 thin film electrode and solar cell have been investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), ultraviolet-visible absorption spectra, contact angle, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and current-voltage characteristics analyses. X-ray diffraction patterns show that the best sintering temperature of a nano-TiO2 film is 600 °C, at which TiO2 anatase phase forms best and the particle size of 8-10 nm can be obtained. The SEM images of a nano-TiO2 thin film show that the surface of the film is smooth and porous, and the thickness of the nano-TiO2 film is 4 μm. The measurements of contact angle between nano-TiO2 film and deionized water (DI water) reveal that the nano-TiO2 film is super-hydrophilic when solarized under ultraviolet. The electrode of dye-sensitized solar cell is used as a free-base porphyrin with carboxyl group, 5,10,15,20-tetrakis (4-carboxyphenyl) porphyrin (TCPP) as the sensitizer to adsorb onto the TiO2 thin film. From the results of ultraviolet-visible absorption spectra and XPS analyses of the electrode, the effects of nano-TiO2 particles’ addition to the electrode of dye-sensitized solar cell can improve the absorption of visible light (400-700 nm) and increase electrons transferred from TCPP to the conduction band of TiO2, resulting in the enhancement of efficiency for dye-sensitized solar cells.  相似文献

Well-defined flower-like Cd(OH)2 microstructures have been successfully synthesized via a simple aqueous solution route, using CdCl2 and NaOH as the reactants, and triethanolamine (TEA) as the modifying agent. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and UV-vis spectrometer were used to characterize the products. SEM and TEM images illustrated that the flower-like Cd(OH)2 bundles consisted of hexagonal nanoplates with thickness of about 50 nm. The adsorption of TEA on (0 0 1) plane of the growing Cd(OH)2 crystal leads to the flower petals in appearance. Further experiments evidenced that the positively charged Cd(OH)2 could effectively adsorb or separate the negatively charged dye molecules.  相似文献

Mn3O4 thin films have been prepared by novel chemical successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) method. Further these films were characterized for their structural, morphological and optical properties by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectrum (FTIR), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), wettability test and optical absorption studies. The XRD pattern showed that the Mn3O4 films exhibit tetragonal hausmannite structure. Formation of manganese oxide compound was confirmed from FTIR studies. The optical absorption showed existence of direct optical band gap of energy 2.30 eV. Mn3O4 film surface showed hydrophilic nature with water contact angle of 55°. The supercapacitive properties of Mn3O4 thin film investigated in 1 M Na2SO4 electrolyte showed maximum supercapacitance of 314 F g−1 at scan rate 5 mV s−1.  相似文献

A simple, inexpensive and environmental chemical treatment process, i.e., treating porous poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (PTFE) films by a mixture of potassium permanganate solution and nitric acid, was proposed to improve the hydrophilicity of PTFE. To evaluate the effectiveness of this strong oxidation treatment, contact angle measurement was performed. The effects of treatment time and temperature on the contact angle of PTFE were studied as well. The results showed that the chemical modification decreased contact angle of as-received PTFE film from 133 ± 3° to 30 ± 4° treated at 100 °C for 3 h, effectively converting the hydrophobic PTFE to a hydrophilic PTFE matrix. The changes in chemical structure, surface compositions and crystal structure of PTFE were examined by attenuated total reflection-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), respectively. It was found that the F/C atomic ratio decreased from untreated 1.65-0.10 treated by the mixture at 100 °C for 3 h. Hydrophilic groups such as carbonyl (CO) and hydroxyl (OH) were introduced on the surface of PTFE after treatment. Furthermore, hydrophilic compounds K0.27MnO2·0.54H2O was absorbed on the surface of porous PTFE film. Both the introduction of hydrophilic groups and absorption of hydrophilic compounds contribute to the significantly decreased contact angle of PTFE.  相似文献

The hydrophilicity of RF sputtered thin films of: (a) pure TiO2 and (b) TiO2 doped with 0.3% Ce, 0.4% Nb, and 0.4% N (atomic percents) was investigated macroscopically by measurements of the contact angle between water and film surface. The results are discussed in terms of the connection of the hydrophilic and photocatalytic properties of the materials with their structure, morphology and optical characteristics. The 280 nm thick films were deposited on optical glass substrates at 250 °C. Film structure and surface morphology were investigated by X-ray diffraction and atomic force microscopy. The surface roughness was derived from atomic force microscopy and ellipsometric data. The contact angle of de-ionized water with film surface was monitored during photo-activation and after irradiating with near-UV light. The surface super-hidrophilicity of all the investigated samples decays, when samples are kept in darkness for 48 h after irradiation. The hydrophilic behavior of the doped TiO2 thin films is discussed in terms of the effects of surface roughness, phase transformations enhanced by doping and charge carrier recombination.  相似文献

Layer-by-layer (LbL) deposition of CuInS2 (CIS) thin films at room temperature (25 °C) from alkaline CuSO4 + In2(SO4)3 and Na2S precursor solutions was reported. The method allowed self-limited growth of CIS films with nanocrystalline structure and composed of densely packed nanometer-sized grains. The as-deposited CIS film was 250 nm thick and composed of closely packed particles of 20-30 nm in diameter. The alkaline cationic precursor solution was obtained by dissolving CuSO4 and InSO4 in deionized water with a appropriate amount of hydrazine monohydrate (H-H) and 2,2′,2″-nitrilotriethanol (TEA). CIS films were annealed at 200 °C for 2 h and effect of annealing on structural, optical, and surface morphological properties was thoroughly investigated by means of X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, UV-vis spectrometer, C-V, and water contact angle techniques, respectively.  相似文献

In this paper we report a “bottom up” approach to synthesize β-Ni(OH)2 nanoflakes using novel successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) method. Ni(OH)2 thin films have been deposited on glass substrate using aqueous alkaline nickel chloride as nickel ion source and double distilled water maintained at 353 K temperature as hydroxyl ion source. The structural, surface morphological, optical and electrical properties of films are examined. The nanocrystallinity and β-phase of Ni(OH)2 are confirmed by X-ray diffraction and FT-IR studies. Scanning electron microscope study revealed microporous and random distribution of well up grown interlocked nanoflakes. Optical absorption studies show wide optical band gap of 3.26 eV for β-Ni(OH)2. The electrical properties revealed that β-Ni(OH)2 has negative temperature coefficient of resistance with p-type semiconducting behaviour. The electrochemical property studied by cyclic voltametry in 2 M KOH electrolyte solution revealed pseudo capacitive behaviour, when β-Ni(OH)2 thin film employed as working electrode in three electrode electrochemical cell with platinum as counter electrode and saturated calomel as reference electrode. The specific capacitance of 350 F g−1 is obtained with nanoflake like morphology.  相似文献

Nanocrystalline SnO2 thin films were deposited by simple and inexpensive chemical route. The films were characterized for their structural, morphological, wettability and electrochemical properties using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy techniques (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), contact angle measurement, and cyclic voltammetry techniques. The XRD study revealed the deposited films were nanocrystalline with tetragonal rutile structure of SnO2. The FT-IR studies confirmed the formation of SnO2 with the characteristic vibrational mode of Sn-O. The SEM studies showed formation of loosely connected agglomerates with average size of 5-10 nm as observed from TEM studies. The surface wettability showed the hydrophilic nature of SnO2 thin film (water contact angle 9°). The SnO2 showed a maximum specific capacitance of 66 F g−1 in 0.5 Na2SO4 electrolyte at 10 mV s−1 scan rate.  相似文献

Ba(Zr0.05Ti0.95)O3 (BZT) thin films grown on Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si(1 0 0) substrates were prepared by chemical solution deposition. The structural and surface morphology of BZT thin films has been studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results showed that the random oriented BZT thin film grown on Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si(1 0 0) substrate with a perovskite phase. The SEM surface image showed that the BZT thin film was crack-free. And the average grain size and thickness of the BZT film are 35 and 400 nm, respectively. Furthermore, the chemical states and chemical composition of the films were determined by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) near the surface. The XPS results show that Ba, Ti, and Zr exist mainly in the forms of BZT perovskite structure.  相似文献

Cadmium hydroxide (Cd(OH)2) microcrystals were synthesized in ethanol–water medium by using cadmium chloride as cadmium source and 1,10-phenanthroline as complexation agent under solvothermal condition. The sample was characterized by FT-IR, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and TEM. The as-prepared Cd(OH)2 product were transformed to hexagonal CdO nanocubes by thermal treatment in air at 500 °C. The possible growth mechanism for the formation of different morphologies at basic medium has been proposed. DPV experiments were carried out for the simultaneous determination of norfloxacin and lomefloxacin in the acetate buffer solution with pH 4.5.  相似文献

We investigate an environmentally friendly aqueous solution system for rutile TiO2 violet color nanocrystalline thin films growth on ITO substrate at room temperature. Film shows considerable absorption in visible region with excitonic maxima at 434 nm. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), selected area electron diffraction (SAED), UV-vis, water surface contact angle and energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) techniques in addition to actual photo-image that shows purely rutile phase of TiO2 with violet color, super-hydrophilic and densely packed nanometer-sized spherical grains of approximate diameter 3.15 ± 0.4 nm, characterize the films. Band gap energy of 4.61 eV for direct transition was obtained for the rutile TiO2 films. Film surface shows super-hydrophilic behavior, as exhibited water contact angle was 7°. Strong visible absorption (not due to chlorine) leaves future challenge to use these films in extremely thin absorber (ETA) solar cells.  相似文献

In this research, dye-sensitized solar cells based on TiO2 micro-pillars fabricated by inductive couple plasma etcher were investigated by analyses of X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), contact angle, ultraviolet-visible absorption spectra (UV-vis), and current-voltage characteristics. X-ray diffraction patterns show that the TiO2 anatase phase forms while sintering at 450 °C for 30 min. The SEM images reveal that the diameter and height of TiO2 micro-pillars are about 3 and 0.8 μm, respectively. The measurements of contact angle between TiO2 micro-pillars and deionized water (DI water) reveal that the TiO2 micro-pillars is super-hydrophilic while annealed at 450 °C for 30 min.The absorption spectrum of TiO2 micro-pillars is better than TiO2 thin film and can be widely improved in visible region with N3 dye adsorbed. The results of current-voltage (I-V) characteristics analysis reveal that dye-sensitized solar cell with TiO2 micro-pillars electrode has better I-V characteristics and efficiency than TiO2 film electrodes. This result may be due to the annealed TiO2 micro-pillars applied on the electrode of dye-sensitized solar cell can increase the contact area between TiO2 and dye, resulting in the enhancement of I-V characteristics and efficiency for dye-sensitized solar cell.  相似文献

Optical non destructive evaluation methods, using lasers as the object illumination source, include holographic interferometry. It is widely used to measure stress, strain, and vibration in engineering structures. Double exposure holographic interferometry (DEHI) technique is used to determine thickness and stress of electrodeposited bismuth trisulphide (Bi2S3) thin films for various deposition times. The same is tested for other concentration of the precursors. It is observed that, increase in deposition time, increases thickness of thin film but decreases stress to the substrate. The structural, optical and surface wettability properties of the as deposited films have been studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD), optical absorption and contact angle measurement, respectively. The X-ray diffraction study reveals that the films are polycrystalline with orthorhombic crystal structure. Optical absorption study shows the presence of direct transition with band bap 1.78 eV. The water contact angle measurement shows hydrophobic nature of Bi2S3 thin film surface.  相似文献

Dendritic nanocrystalline CdS film was deposited at liquid-liquid interface of surfactants and an electrolyte containing 4 mmol L−1 cadmium chloride (CdCl2) and 16 mmol L−1 thioacetamide (CH3CSNH2) with an initial pH value of 5 at 15 °C by electrochemical synthesis. The nanofilm was characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), ultraviolet visible (UV-vis) absorption spectroscopy and fluorescence spectroscopy. The surface morphology and particle size of the nanofilm were investigated by AFM, SEM and TEM, and the crystalline size was 30-50 nm. The thickness of the nanofilm calculated by optical absorption spectrum was 80 nm. The microstructure and composition of the nanofilm was investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), showing its polycrystalline structure consisting of CdS and Cd. Optical properties of the nanofilm were investigated systematically by UV-vis absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy. A λonset blue shift compared with bulk CdS was observed in the absorption spectra. Fluorescence spectra of the nanofilm indicated that the CdS nanofilm emitted blue and green light. The nanocomposites film electrode will bring about anodic photocurrent during illumination, showing that the transfer of cavities produces photocurrent.  相似文献

The growth of highly functionalised poly allyl alcohol films by pulsed plasma polymerisation of CH2CHCH2OH on biomedical grade polyurethane has been followed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and contact angle measurements. Film thickness is observed to increase approximately linearly with plasma modification time, suggesting a layer-by-layer growth mode of poly allyl alcohol. Water contact angle measurements reveal the change in the surface free energy of wetting decreases linearly with plasma modification up to the monolayer point after which a constant limiting value of −24 mJ m−2 was attained. Films prepared at 20 W plasma power with a duty cycle of 10 μs:500 μs exhibit a high degree of hydroxyl (OH) retention with minimal fragmentation of the monomer observed. Increasing the plasma power up to 125 W is found to improve OH retention at the expense of ether formation generating films close to the monomer stoichiometry. Duty cycle plays an important role in controlling both film composition and thickness, with longer off times increasing OH retention, while longer on times enhance allyl alcohol film growth.  相似文献

The structural, morphological and optical properties of CuAlS2 films deposited by spray pyrolysis method have been investigated. CuAlS2 in the form of films is prepared at different deposition conditions by a simple and economical spray pyrolysis method. The structural, surface morphology and optical properties of the films were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), atomic force microscope (AFM) and absorbance spectra, respectively. The films were polycrystalline, crystallized in a tetragonal structure, and are preferentially orientated along the (1 1 2) direction. Grain size values, dislocation density, and d% error of CuAlS2 films were calculated. The optical band gap of the CuAlS2 film was found to be 3.45 eV. The optical constants such as refractive index, extinction coefficient and dielectric constants of the CuAlS2 film were determined. The refractive index dispersion curve of the film obeys the single oscillator model. Optical dispersion parameters Eo and Ed developed by Wemple-DiDomenico were calculated and found to be 3.562 and 12.590 eV.  相似文献

Graded TiO2 films were deposited on unheated glass substrates by using a twin dc magnetron sputtering system. The graded TiO2 films showed a highly polycrystalline structure of anatase with a little rutile phases revealed by X-ray diffraction spectra. The surface energy of the fresh and UV irradiated films were evaluated by water contact angle measurement. The results indicated that the water contact angle of the fresh graded TiO2 films was found within 100-112°. The films then became a highly hydrophilic surface with the water contact angle of almost zero under 60 min UV irradiation. The XPS spectrum of Ti 2p revealed that the graded TiO2 films became a stoichiometric titanium oxide layer near the surface, proving that titanium was fully oxidized. It was found that the surface OH group density depended on the substrates employed for given sputtering conditions. In addition, AFM images revealed a considerably rough surface of the graded films with RMS roughness of 12.6-14.5 nm. One can conclude that the unique properties of highly hydrophobicity and photo-induced hydrophilicity can be attributed to fully oxidized chemical composition and higher roughness on the film surface.  相似文献

The growth of electropolymerized polyaniline nanograins has been carried out from aqueous solution of 0.45 M aniline (C6H5NH2) + 0.5 M H2SO4. These polyaniline nanograins were characterized using Raman spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), contact angle measurement and optical studies. The presence of characteristic bonds of polyaniline was observed from Raman shift experiment. Based on field emission scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy analysis, the formation of the polyaniline nanograins with average diameter of about 50 nm was inferred. Surface of the polyaniline film was hydrophilic with contact angle 17 ± 1°. A blue shift of 0.30 eV with characteristic absorption peak at 427 nm has been attributed due to quantized size of polyaniline nanograins.  相似文献

Zinc selenide (ZnSe) thin film have been deposited using chemical bath method on non-conducting glass substrate in a tartarate bath containing zinc sulfate, ammonia, hydrazine hydrate, sodium selenosulfate in an aqueous alkaline medium at 333 K. The deposition parameter of the ZnSe thin film is interpreted in the present investigation. The films were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), optical absorption, electrical measurements, atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS). The ZnSe thin layers grown with polycrystalline zinc blende system along with some amorphous phase present in ZnSe film. The direct optical band gap ‘Eg’ for the film was found to be 2.81 eV and electrical conductivity in the order of 10−8(Ω cm)−1 with n-type conduction mechanism.  相似文献
