Let be an ()-dimensional compact Riemannian manifold with nonnegative Ricci curvature and nonempty boundary . Assume that the principal curvatures of are bounded from below by a positive constant . In this paper, we prove that the first nonzero eigenvalue of the Laplacian of acting on functions on satisfies with equality holding if and only if is isometric to an -dimensional Euclidean ball of radius . Some related rigidity theorems for are also proved.

Warped product C R-submanifolds in Kählerian manifolds were intensively studied only since 2001 after the impulse given by B. Y. Chen in [3], [4]. Immediately after, another line of research, similar to that concerning Sasakian geometry as the odd dimensional version of Kählerian geometry, was developed, namely warped product contact C R-submanifolds in Sasakian manifolds (cf. [7], [8]). In this note we prove that there exists no proper doubly warped product contact C R-submanifolds in trans-Sasakian manifolds.  相似文献

In this note, we get a necessary and sufficient condition such that the scalar curvature of generalized m‐quasi‐Einstein manifold with m = 1 is constant. In particular, we discuss a class of generalized quasi‐Einstein manifolds which are more general than ( m , ρ ) ‐quasi‐Einstein manifolds and prove that these manifolds with dimension four are either Einstein or locally conformally flat under some suitable conditions.  相似文献

Let M be an n-dimensional complete connected Riemannian manifold with sectional curvature sec(M) ≥ 1 and radius rad(M) > π/2. In this article, we show that M is isometric to a round n-sphere if for any xM, the first conjugate locus of x is a single point and if M contains a geodesic loop of length 2 · rad(M). We also show that the same conclusion is true if the conjugate value function at any point of M is a constant function. We show that the Dirac operator on a spin manifold does not admit L2 eigenspinors provided the metric has a certain asymptotic behaviour and is a warped product near infinity. These conditions on the metric are fulfilled in particular if the manifold is complete and carries a non-complete vector field which outside a compact set is gradient conformal and non-vanishing.  相似文献

A notion of almost contact metric statistical structure is introduced and thereby contact metric and K-contact statistical structures are defined. Furthermore a necessary and sufficient condition for a contact metric statistical manifold to admit K-contact statistical structure is given. In this paper, we obtain some sufficient conditions for a 3-dimensional compact trans-Sasakian manifold of type (α, β) to be homothetic to a Sasakian manifold. A characterization of a 3-dimensional cosymplectic manifold is also obtained.  相似文献

We study infinitesimal properties of nonsmooth (nondifferentiable) functions on smooth manifolds. The eigenvalue function of a matrix on the manifold of symmetric matrices gives a natural example of such a nonsmooth function.

A subdifferential calculus for lower semicontinuous functions is developed here for studying constrained optimization problems, nonclassical problems of calculus of variations, and generalized solutions of first-order partial differential equations on manifolds. We also establish criteria for monotonicity and invariance of functions and sets with respect to solutions of differential inclusions.

We show that the second Chern character of any projective toric manifold of Picard number three is not positive. In connection with this result, we give various examples of the positivity of higher Chern characters of projective toric manifolds.

Based on locally compact perturbations of the identity map similar to the Fredholm structures on real Banach manifolds, complex manifolds with inverse mapping theorem as part of the defintion are proposed. Standard topics including holomorphic maps, morphisms, derivatives, tangent bundles, product manifolds and submanifolds are presented. Although this framework is elementary, it lays the necessary foundation for all subsequent developments.  相似文献

** Email: msjolly{at}indiana.edu*** Email: rrosa{at}ufrj.br An iterative Lyapunov–Perron algorithm for the computationof inertial manifolds is adapted for centre manifolds and appliedto two test problems. The first application is to compute aknown non-smooth manifold (once, but not twice differentiable),where a Taylor expansion is not possible. The second is to asmooth manifold arising in a porous medium problem, where rigorouserror estimates are compared to both the correction at eachiteration and the addition of each coefficient in a Taylor expansion.While in each case the manifold is 1D, the algorithm is well-suitedfor higher dimensional manifolds. In fact, the computationalcomplexity of the algorithm is independent of the dimension,as it computes individual points on the manifold independentlyby discretising the solution through them. Summations in thealgorithm are reformulated to be recursive. This accelerationapplies to the special case of inertial manifolds as well.  相似文献

We prove that a ()-connected map from a compact PL -manifold to a generalized -manifold with the disjoint disks property, , is homotopic to a tame embedding. There is also a controlled version of this result, as well as a version for noncompact and proper maps that are properly ()-connected. The techniques developed lead to a general position result for arbitrary maps , , and a Whitney trick for separating submanifolds of that have intersection number 0, analogous to the well-known results when is a manifold.

ABSTRACT

In this paper we study a nonlocal diffusion problem on a manifold. These kinds of equations can model diffusions when there are long range effects and have been widely studied in Euclidean space. We first prove existence and uniqueness of solutions and a comparison principle. Then, for a convenient rescaling we prove that the operator under consideration converges to a multiple of the usual Heat-Beltrami operator on the manifold. Next, we look at the long time behavior on compact manifolds by studying the spectral properties of the operator. Finally, for the model case of hyperbolic space we study the long time asymptotics and find a different and interesting behavior.  相似文献
