p-adic Arakelov theory

We introduce the p-adic analogue of Arakelov intersection theory on arithmetic surfaces. The intersection pairing in an extension of the p-adic height pairing for divisors of degree 0 in the form described by Coleman and Gross. It also uses Coleman integration and is related to work of Colmez on p-adic Green functions. We introduce the p-adic version of a metrized line bundle and define the metric on the determinant of its cohomology in the style of Faltings. We also prove analogues of the Adjunction formula and the Riemann-Roch formula.     

p-Adic Pseudodifferential Operators and p-Adic Wavelets

We introduce a new wide class of p-adic pseudodifferential operators. We show that the basis of p-adic wavelets is the basis of eigenvectors for the introduced operators.     

Weakly infinitely divisible measures on some locally compact Abelian groups

On the torus group, on the group of p-adic integers, and on the p-adic solenoid, we give a construction of an arbitrary weakly infinitely divisible probability measure using a random element with values in a product of (possibly infinitely many) subgroups of ℝ. As a special case of our results, we have a new construction of the Haar measure on the p-adic solenoid.     

Rigged Hilbert Space of Free Coherent States and p-Adic Numbers

We investigate the rigged Hilbert space of free coherent states. We prove that this rigged Hilbert space is isomorphic to the space of generalized functions over a p-adic disk. We discuss the relation of the described isomorphism of rigged Hilbert spaces and noncommutative geometry and show that the considered example realizes the isomorphism between the noncommutative line and the p-adic disk.     

On the behavior of some two-variable p-adic L-functions

We give some p-adic integral representations for the two-variable p-adic L-functions introduced recently by G. Fox. For powers of the Teichmüller character, we use the integral representation to extend the L-function to a larger domain, in which it is a meromorphic function in the first variable and an analytic element in the second. These integral representations imply systems of congruences for the generalized Bernoulli polynomials, improving previous results of Fox, Gunaratne, and the author; they also lead to generalizations of some formulas of Diamond and of Ferrero and Greenberg for p-adic L-functions in terms of the p-adic gamma and log gamma functions.     

A construction of classifying spaces for p-adic group actions

One major open problem in geometric topology is the Hilbert-Smith conjecture. A natural approach to this conjecture is to work on classifying spaces of p-adic integers. However, the well-known Milnor's construction of classifying space of p-adic integers is not locally connected, hence will not help to solve the conjecture, and the other known constructions are very complex. The goal of this paper is to give a new construction of classifying spaces for p-adic group actions.     

Gaussian Estimates for Random Walks on Some Unimodular p-adic Groups

It is shown in this paper that the transition kernels corresponding to simple random walks on certain unimodular solvable p-adic groups admit upper Gaussian estimates.      

Milnor K-Groups and Zero-Cycles on Products of Curves over p-Adic Fields

We investigate the Chow groups of zero cycles of products of curves over a p-adic field by means of the Milnor K-groups of their Jacobians as introduced by Somekawa. We prove some finiteness results for CH ₀(X)/m for X a product of curves over a p-adic field.     

On a class of rational p-adic dynamical systems

In this paper we investigate the behavior of trajectories of one class of rational p-adic dynamical systems in complex p-adic field Cp. We studied Siegel disks and attractors of such dynamical systems. We found the basin of the attractor of the system. It is proved that such dynamical systems are not ergodic on a unit sphere with respect to the Haar measure.     

K1 of Some Non-Commutative Completed Group Rings

We compute K₁ of completed group rings of some two dimensional p-adic Lie groups. Dedicated to Professor Spencer Bloch on his sixtieth birthday     

Central units in p-adic group rings

If p is a natural prime and G any p-group then an exact sequence is constructed to describe the group of units in the center of the p-adic group ring _p [G].     

On the Fontaine–Mazur Conjecture for CM-Fields

Fontaine and Mazur conjecture that a number field k has no infinite unramified Galois extension such that its Galois group is a p-adic analytic pro-p-group. We consider this conjecture for the maximal unramified p-extension of a CM-field k.     

Moments and Projections of Semistable Probability Measures on p-adic Vector Spaces

In this paper, two topics on semistable probability measures on p-adic vector spaces are studied. One is the existence of absolute moments of operator-semistable probability measures and another is an answer to the question whether one can get semistability of a probability measure from that of all its projections. All results obtained here are extensions of known results for real vector spaces to p-adic vector spaces.     

A note on p-adic q-ζ-functions II

We show that p-adic q-ζ-function constructed by Koblitz [7] (see also D?browski [4]) can be obtained as Γ-transform of some p-adic measure coming from Lubin–Tate formal group.     

Restriction to compact subgroups in the cyclic homology of reductive p-adic groups

Restriction of functions from a reductive p-adic group G to its compact subgroups defines an operator on the Hochschild and cyclic homology of the Hecke algebra of G. We study the commutation relations between this operator and others coming from representation theory: Jacquet functors, idempotents in the Bernstein centre, and characters of admissible representations.     

Irreducibility and p-adic monodromies on the Siegel moduli spaces

We generalize the surjectivity result of the p-adic monodromy for the ordinary locus of a Siegel moduli space by Faltings and Chai (independently by Ekedahl) to that for any p-rank stratum. We discuss irreducibility and connectedness of some p-rank strata of the moduli spaces with parahoric level structure. Finer results are obtained on the Siegel 3-fold with Iwahori level structure.     

A remark on congruences for coefficients of Faber polynomials

Faber polynomials appear when weight zero Hecke operators act on the modular j-invariant. They are polynomials in j with rational integral coefficents. Using the theory of p-adic modular forms we establish some congruences and divisibilities for these coefficients. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification Primary—11F33 Supported by NSF grant DMS-0501225.     

Recurrence and Transience Criteria for Symmetric Hunt Processes

In this paper, we will discuss recurrence, transience and other potential theoretic aspects based on symmetric regular Dirichlet space. We will first deal with Dirichlet space with the strong local property and give a recurrence criterion in terms of exhaustion function. This criterion shows that recurrence automatically provides us with an exhaustion function which is usable to verify a Liouville property on subharmonic functions. Secondly, a recurrence criterion and a transience criterion for a Nonlocal Dirichlet space will be presented. Those criteria can be applied to Albeverio–Karwowski"s random walks on p-adic number field. Lastly, we will prove the assertions which cover other potential theoretic aspect of p-adic number field such as Liouville property on harmonic functions.     

Analytic normal basis theorem
