We give a construction that connects the Cauchy problem for the 2-dimensional elliptic Liouville equation with a certain initial value problem for mean curvature one surfaces in hyperbolic 3-space H3, and solve both of them. We construct the unique mean curvature one surface in H3 that passes through a given curve with a given unit normal along it, and provide diverse applications. In particular, topics such as period problems, symmetries, finite total curvature, planar geodesics, rigidity, etc. are treated for these surfaces.  相似文献

In this article, we study the nonexistence of solution with finite Morse index for the following Choquard type equation-△u=∫RN|u(y)|p|x-y|αdy|u(x)|p-2u(x) in RN where N ≥ 3, 0 α min{4, N}. Suppose that 2 p (2 N-α)/(N-2),we will show that this problem does not possess nontrivial solution with finite Morse index. While for p=(2 N-α)/(N-2),if i(u) ∞, then we have ∫_RN∫_RN|u(x)p(u)(y)~p/|x-y|~α dxdy ∞ and ∫_RN|▽u|~2 dx=∫_RN∫_RN|u(x)p(u)(y)~p/|x-y|~αdxdy.  相似文献

The interior and exterior Neumann problems for the Helmholtz equation in starlike planar domains are addressed by using a suitable Fourier-like technique. Attention is in particular focused on normal-polar domains whose boundaries are defined by the so called “superformula” introduced by Gielis. A dedicated numerical procedure based on a computer algebra system is developed in order to validate the proposed approach. In this way, highly accurate approximations of the solution, featuring properties similar to classical ones, are obtained. Computed results are found to be in good agreement with theoretical findings on Fourier series expansion presented by Carleson.  相似文献

Based on our estimate of the small eigenvalues of the linearized eigenvalue problem at u? when ? is small, we construct solutions of the form u?+v?, with v? non-radially symmetric and close to zero in the unit ball except near one point x0 such that |x0| is close to a nondegenerate critical point of a(r). We establish a criterion for the existence of an invariant measure for Markov processes acting on measures defined on an arbitrary complete separable metric space. In this work we improve some known results for a singular operator and also for a wide class of lower-order terms by proving a multiplicity result. The proof is made by applying the generalized mountain-pass theorem due to Ambrosetti and Rabinowitz. To do this, we show that the minimax levels are in a convenient range by combining a special class of approximating functions, due to Gazzola and Ruf, with the concentrating functions of the best Sobolev constant.  相似文献

A systematic treatment of the three-dimensional Poisson equation via singular and hypersingular boundary integral equation techniques is investigated in the context of a Galerkin approximation. Developed to conveniently deal with domain integrals without a volume-fitted mesh, the proposed method initially converts domain integrals featuring the Newton potential and its gradient into equivalent surface integrals. Then, the resulting boundary integrals are evaluated by means of well-established cubature methods. In this transformation, weakly-singular domain integrals, defined over simply- or multiply-connected domains with Lipschitz boundaries, are rigorously converted into weakly-singular surface integrals. Combined with the semi-analytic integration approach developed for potential problems to accurately calculate singular and hypersingular Galerkin surface integrals, this technique can be employed to effectively deal with mixed boundary-value problems without the need to partition the underlying domain into volume cells. Sample problems are included to validate the proposed approach.  相似文献

In this paper we study the existence of bounded weak solutions for some nonlinear Dirichlet problems in unbounded domains. The principal part of the operator behaves like the p-laplacian operator, and the lower order terms, which depend on the solution u and its gradient u, have a power growth of order p–1 with respect to these variables, while they are bounded in the x variable. Making use of a proper transformation and a generalized ansatz, we consider a new generalized Hamiltonian amplitude equation with nonlinear terms of any order, iux + utt + (|u|p + |u|2p)u + uxt = 0. In several fields of Physics, Chemistry and Ecology, some models are described by Liouville systems. In this article we first prove a uniqueness result for a Liouville system in R2R2. Then we establish a uniform estimate for bubbling solutions of a locally defined Liouville system near an isolated blowup point. The uniqueness result, as well as the local uniform estimates are crucial ingredients for obtaining a priori estimate, degree counting formulas and existence results for Liouville systems defined on Riemann surfaces.  相似文献

We investigate a semilinear elliptic equation with a logistic nonlinearity and an indefinite nonlinear boundary condition, both depending on a parameter λ. Overall, we analyze the effect of the indefinite nonlinear boundary condition on the structure of the positive solutions set. Based on variational and bifurcation techniques, our main results establish the existence of three nontrivial non-negative solutions for some values of λ, as well as their asymptotic behavior. These results suggest that the positive solutions set contains an S-shaped component in some case, as well as a combination of a C-shaped and an S-shaped components in another case.  相似文献

Starting with the famous article [A. Gidas, W.M. Ni, L. Nirenberg, Symmetry and related properties via the maximum principle, Comm. Math. Phys. 68 (1979) 209-243], many papers have been devoted to the uniqueness question for positive solutions of −Δu=λu+up in Ω, u=0 on ∂Ω, where p>1 and λ ranges between 0 and the first Dirichlet eigenvalue λ1(Ω) of −Δ. For the case when Ω is a ball, uniqueness could be proved, mainly by ODE techniques. But very little is known when Ω is not a ball, and then only for λ=0. In this article, we prove uniqueness, for all λ∈[0,λ1(Ω)), in the case Ω=2(0,1) and p=2. This constitutes the first positive answer to the uniqueness question in a domain different from a ball. Our proof makes heavy use of computer assistance: we compute a branch of approximate solutions and prove existence of a true solution branch close to it, using fixed point techniques. By eigenvalue enclosure methods, and an additional analytical argument for λ close to λ1(Ω), we deduce the non-degeneracy of all solutions along this branch, whence uniqueness follows from the known bifurcation structure of the problem.  相似文献

Two-dimensional travelling waves on an ideal fluid with gravity and surface tension over a periodically moving bottom with a small amplitude are studied. The bottom and the wave travel with a same speed. The exact Euler equations are formulated as a spatial dynamic system by using the stream function. A manifold reduction technique is applied to reduce the system into one of ordinary differential equations with finite dimensions. A homoclinic solution to the normal form of this reduced system persists when higher-order terms are added, which gives a generalized solitary wave—the homoclinic solution connecting a periodic solution.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce a notion of quasiconvex domain, and show that the global W1,p regularity holds on such domains for a wide class of divergence form elliptic equations.
