We study the observability and some of its consequences (controllability, identification of diffusion coefficients) for one-dimensional heat equations with discontinuous coefficients (piecewise C1). The observability, for a linear equation, is obtained by a Carleman-type estimate. This kind of observability inequality yields controllability results for a semi-linear equation as well as a stability result for the identification of the diffusion coefficient.  相似文献

We consider uncoupled wave equations with different speed of propagation in a bounded domain. Using a combination of the Bardos–Lebeau–Rauch observability result for a single wave equation and a new unique continuation result for uncoupled wave equations, we prove an observability estimate for that system. Applying Lions? Hilbert uniqueness method (HUM), one may derive simultaneous exact controllability results for the uncoupled system; the controls being locally distributed, with their supports satisfying the geometric control condition of Bardos, Lebeau and Rauch. Afterwards, we discuss the related simultaneous stabilization problem; this latter problem is solved by a combination of the new observability inequality, and a result of Haraux establishing an equivalence between observability and stabilization for second order evolution equations with bounded damping operators. Our observability and stabilization results generalize to higher space dimensions some earlier results of Haraux established in the one-dimensional setting.  相似文献

本文的主要目的是介绍一个统一的处理分布参数系统能控能观性问题的方法,并给出该方法在分布参数控制理论中的应用。为此,本文将从一类“类抛物” 偏微分算子(即没有椭圆性条件)的带权恒等式出发,给出所有已知的关于抛物型方程、双曲型方程、Schrödinger 方程和板方程的基于整体Carleman 估计的能控能观性结果。同时,基于该带权的恒等式,本文还给出它在双曲型系统的稳定性问题和在拟线性复Ginzburg-Landau 方程能控能观性等问题中的应用。  相似文献

In this paper we obtain the global uniqueness and stability estimate for a class of multidimensional inverse hyperbolic problems of determining a source term and an initial value from a single measurement of boundary values or interior values. By means of a suitable transformation, we reduce the problem to the observability inequalities for nonconservative hyperbolic equations with memory. Then, using a compactness/uniqueness argument, we can prove the uniqueness and the stability by a new kind of unique continuation property of a nonlocal hyperbolic equation.  相似文献

The paper is devoted to a study of the null controllability for the semilinear parabolic equation with a complex principal part. For this purpose, we establish a key weighted identity for partial differential operators (with real functions α and β), by which we develop a universal approach, based on global Carleman estimate, to deduce not only the desired explicit observability estimate for the linearized complex Ginzburg-Landau equation, but also all the known controllability/observability results for the parabolic, hyperbolic, Schrödinger and plate equations that are derived via Carleman estimates.  相似文献

This paper addresses an analysis on the longtime behavior of the hyperbolic equations with a partially boundary damping, under sharp regularity assumptions on the coefficients appeared in the equation. Based on a global Carleman estimate, we establish an estimate on the underlying resolvent operator of the equation, via which we show the logarithmic decay rate for solutions of the hyperbolic equations without any geometric assumption on the subboundary in which the damping is effective.  相似文献

In this paper, we establish the null/approximate controllability for forward stochastic heat equations with control on the drift. The null controllability is obtained by a time iteration method and an observability estimate on partial sums of eigenfunctions for elliptic operators. As a consequence of the null controllability, we obtain the observability estimate for backward stochastic heat equations, which leads to a unique continuation property for backward stochastic heat equations, and hence the desired approximate controllability for forward stochastic heat equations. It deserves to point out that one needs to introduce a little stronger assumption on the controller for the approximate controllability of forward stochastic heat equations than that for the null controllability. This is a new phenomenon arising in the study of the controllability problem for stochastic heat equations.  相似文献

In this paper we consider a linearized model for fluid-structure interaction in one space dimension. The domain where the system evolves consists in two parts in which the wave and heat equations evolve, respectively, with transmission conditions at the interface. First of all we develop a careful spectral asymptotic analysis on high frequencies for the underlying semigroup. It is shown that the semigroup governed by the system can be split into a parabolic and a hyperbolic projection. The dissipative mechanism of the system in the domain where the heat equation holds produces a slow decay of the hyperbolic component of solutions. According to this analysis we obtain sharp polynomial decay rates for the whole energy of smooth solutions. Next, we discuss the problem of null-controllability of the system when the control acts on the boundary of the domain where the heat equation holds. The key observability inequality of the dual system with observation on the heat component is derived though a new Ingham-type inequality, which in turn, thanks to our spectral analysis, is a consequence of a known observability inequality of the same system but with observation on the wave component.  相似文献

The existence of insensitizing controls for a forward stochastic heat equation is considered. To develop the duality, we obtain observability estimates for linear forward and backward coupled stochastic heat equations with general coefficients, by means of some global Carleman estimates. Furthermore, the constant in the observability inequality is estimated by an explicit function of the norm of the involved coefficients in the equation. As far as we know, our paper is the first one to address the problem of insensitizing controls for stochastic partial differential equations.  相似文献

In this paper we consider a hyperbolic equation, with a memory term in time, which can be seen as a singular perturbation of the heat equation with memory. The qualitative properties of the solutions of the initial boundary value problems associated with both equations are studied. We propose numerical methods for the hyperbolic and parabolic models and their stability properties are analyzed. In this Note, a weighted identity for partial differential operators of second order is established. As its applications, one may deduce all the known controllability/observability results for the parabolic, hyperbolic, Schrödinger and plate equations that are derived via Carleman estimate. In this paper we give a characterization of the notion of entropy solutions of some flux limited diffusion equations for which we can prove that the solution is a function of bounded variation in space and time. This includes the case of the so-called relativistic heat equation and some generalizations. For them we prove that the jump set consists of fronts that propagate at the speed given by Rankine-Hugoniot condition and we give on it a geometric characterization of the entropy conditions. Since entropy solutions are functions of bounded variation in space once the initial condition is, to complete the program we study the time regularity of solutions of the relativistic heat equation under some conditions on the initial datum. An analogous result holds for some other related equations without additional assumptions on the initial condition.  相似文献

Boundary observability and controllability problems for evolution equations governed by PDEs have been greatly studied in the past years. However, the problems were studied on a case-by-case basis, only for some particular types of boundary controls, and, moreover, several unnatural restrictions concerning lower-order terms were used.Our goal here is to give a general approach for boundary controllability problems, which is valid for all evolution PDEs of hyperbolic or ultrahyperbolic type, all boundary controls for which the corresponding homogeneous problem is well-posed, and all well-posedness spaces for the homogeneous problem. The first example of such equations is the class of hyperbolic equations, but valid examples are also equations such as the Schroedinger equation and various models for the plate equation.This work is essentially based on some apriori estimates of Carleman's type obtained by the author in a previous paper [29].This research was partially supported by the National Science Foundation under Grant NSF-DMS-8903747.  相似文献

This paper is addressed to a study of the persistent regional null controllability problems for one‐dimensional linear degenerate wave equations through a distributed controller. Different from non‐degenerate wave equations, the classical null controllability results do not hold for some degenerate wave equations. Thus, persistent regional null controllability is introduced, which means finding a control such that the corresponding state of the degenerate wave equation may vanish in a suitable subset of the space domain in a period of time. In order to solve this problem, we need to establish the regional null controllability for degenerate wave equations. This problem is reduced to a suitable observability problem of a linear degenerate wave equation. The key point is to choose a suitable multiplier in order to establish this observability inequality.
