In an effort to resolve the existing discrepancy between experiment and theory, the cross-sections for the production ofL l,L α ,L β andL γ groups ofL-shell X-rays of Ho by photons of nine energies in the range 10–40 keV have been measured using an improved version of annular source double reflection geometrical set-up. Contrary to the earlier findings of Garget al that the measured values of the cross-sections are consistently higher than those calculated theoretically, the present results do not confirm this. The plausible deficiencies in the experiments of Garget al are pointed out and possible remedies to overcome them are suggested. It is concluded that the higher values obtained by Garget al are probably due to systematic errors in their method of measurement.  相似文献

Dijet cross sections as functions of several jet observables are measured in photoproduction using the H1 detector at HERA. The data sample comprises data with an integrated luminosity of 34.9 pb. Jets are selected using the inclusive algorithm with a minimum transverse energy of 25 GeV for the leading jet. The phase space covers longitudinal proton momentum fraction and photon longitudinal momentum fraction in the ranges and . The predictions of next-to-leading order perturbative QCD, including recent photon and proton parton densities, are found to be compatible with the data in a wide kinematical range. Inclusive jet cross sections are measured in photoproduction at HERA using the H1 detector. The data sample of events in the kinematic range of photon virtualities and photon-proton centre-of-mass energies represents an integrated luminosity of . Jets are defined using the inclusive algorithm. Single- and multi-differential cross sections are measured as functions of jet transverse energy ET jet and pseudorapidity in the domain and . The cross sections are found to be in good agreement with next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations corrected for fragmentation and underlying event effects. The cross section differential in ET jet, which varies by six orders of magnitude over the measured range, is compared with similar distributions from colliders at equal and higher energies.Received: 24 February 2003, Revised: 26 May 2003, Published online: 11 July 2003  相似文献

Results are presented on the photoproduction of isolated prompt photons, inclusively and associated with jets, in the center of mass energy range 142 < W < 266 GeV. The cross sections are measured for the transverse momentum range of the photons GeV and for associated jets with E T jet > 4.5 GeV. They are measured differentially as a function of , the pseudorapidities and and estimators of the momentum fractions and x p of the incident photon and proton carried by the constituents participating in the hard process. In order to further investigate the underlying dynamics, the angular correlation between the prompt photon and the jet in the transverse plane is studied. Predictions by perturbative QCD calculations in next to leading order are about below the inclusive prompt photon data after corrections for hadronisation and multiple interactions, but are in reasonable agreement with the results for prompt photons associated with jets. Comparisons with the predictions of the event generators PYTHIA and HERWIG are also presented.Received: 13 July 2004, Revised: 15 November 2004, Published online: 17 December 2004  相似文献

The dissociative ionization of CO2 induced by 5 keV electrons in two-body and three-body dissociative channels of CO2+2 and CO3+2 is identified by the ion-ion coincidence- method using a momentum imaging spectrometer. The partial ionization cross sections (PICSs) of different ionic fragments are measured and the results generally agree with the calculations made by a semi-empirical approach. Furthermore, the PICSs of the dissociative channels are also obtained by carefully considering the detection efficiency of the micro-channel plates and the total transmission efficiency of the time of flight system.  相似文献

The first measurement of the cross sections for D*±-meson diffractive photoproduction was performed with the ZEUS detector at the HERA ep collider by using an integrated luminosity of 38 pb?1. The measurement was performed for photon-proton c.m. energies in the range 130<W<280 GeV and photon virtualities in the region Q 2<1 GeV2. The product D*± mesons were reconstructed for p T D* >2 GeV and ?1.5<η D*<1.5 from the decay channel D*+D 0 π s + with D 0K ? π + (+ c.c.). The diffractive component was selected for 0.001 <x P<0.018. The measured cross section in this kinematical range is $\sigma _{ep \to e'D^ * X_{p'} }^{diff} = 0.74 \pm 0.21(stat.)_{ - 0.18}^{ + 0.27} (syst.) \pm 0.16(p.diss.)$ nb (ZEUS preliminary). The measured integrated and differential cross sections are compared with theoretical expectations.  相似文献

Absolute doubly differential bremsstrahlung cross sections from Xe, Kr, Ar, and Ne have been measured for electron bombarding energies of 28 and 50 keV. Bremsstrahlung photons have been detected at 90 degrees to the incident electron beam at energies ranging from 5 keV up to the kinematic end point. The results are compared with predictions of ordinary bremsstrahlung and of total bremsstrahlung that include polarizational bremsstrahlung from the target atom calculated in the stripping approximation. All previous absolute cross sections have been from thin-film solid targets and have not shown any polarizational bremsstrahlung contribution. The present results, the first from free atoms, provide definitive evidence for the contribution of polarizational bremsstrahlung to the photon spectrum from electron bremsstrahlung.  相似文献

The inclusive e+p single and double differential cross sections for neutral and charged current processes are measured with the H1 detector at HERA. The data were taken in 1999 and 2000 at a centre-of-mass energy of and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 65.2 pb-1. The cross sections are measured in the range of four-momentum transfer squared Q2 between 100 and and Bjorken x between 0.0013 and 0.65. The neutral current analysis for the new e+p data and the earlier e-p data taken in 1998 and 1999 is extended to small energies of the scattered electron and therefore to higher values of inelasticity y, allowing a determination of the longitudinal structure function FL at high Q2 ( ). A new measurement of the structure function is obtained using the new e+p and previously published neutral current cross section data at high Q2. These data together with H1 low Q2 precision data are further used to perform new next-to-leading order QCD analyses in the framework of the Standard Model to extract flavour separated parton distributions in the proton.Arrival of the final proofs: 11 July 2003  相似文献

Total photon mass attenuation coefficients in C, Al, S, Ti, B2O3, LiF, ZnO, Y2O3 and H8O2C5 (perspex) are measured on a good geometry set-up using proportional counter, Si(Li) and Ge(Li) detecting systems in the energy region from 6.47 to 52.014 keV employing x-rays and gamma rays from radioactive sources. The deduced photoelectric cross-sections are found to agree with the theoretical values of Storm and Israel, Scofield and semiexperimental values of Veigele wherever available within a few percent. The photo-electric cross-sections in elements, S, Ti and Y at their respectiveK-edges obtained by extrapolation technique agree with the theoretical values of Storm and Israel and Scofield at the respectiveK-edges except in S. In the case of S both the theoretical values atK-edges are found to be underestimations, more in the case of Scofield evaluations.  相似文献

A method is described for the efficiency calibration of Si(Li) and HpGe detectors in the 5–60 keV energy region. The method utilizes theK x-ray lines from54Mn,65Zn,75Se,85Sr,88Y,109Cd,137Cs,141Ce and159Dy in addition to57Co and241Am radioactive sources to have sufficient number of data points. Since the emission intensities are required at variousK x-ray energies from the decay of these sources, this paper reports theK x-ray emission intensities per 100 disintegrations for these nuclei using the latest adopted data for gamma ray intensities, electron capture and internal conversion coefficients, fluorescence yield values and the relative intensities of the fourK x-ray lines.  相似文献

The inclusive single and double differential cross sections for neutral and charged current processes are measured with the H1 detector at HERA, in the range of four-momentum transfer squared between 150 and 30 000 GeV, and Bjorken x between 0.002 and 0.65. The data were taken in 1998 and 1999 with a centre-of-mass energy of 320 GeV and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 16.4 pb. The data are compared with recent measurements of the inclusive neutral and charged current cross sections. For clear evidence is observed for an asymmetry between and neutral current scattering and the generalised structure function is extracted for the first time at HERA. A fit to the charged current data is used to extract a value for the W boson propagator mass. The data are found to be in good agreement with Standard Model predictions. The absoluteK-ionization cross sections of Ti and Ni by electron impact (impact energy ≦50 keV) was measured detecting the X-rays emitted by thin solid film targets of known mass thickness with a flow proportional counter. The experimental method, especially the correction procedures and the measurements are described, the results compared with calculations in different theoretical approaches. For impact energies aboveE 0/E K>1.5 (E K=K-shell ionization energy) a systematic deviation of about +20% occurs in comparison with the best agreeing calculations of M.R.H. Rudge and S.B. Schwartz. A fit to Drawin's empirical formula reveals that the measurements are approximated better than ±10 % within the range of comparison.  相似文献

Classical Trajectory Monte Carlo method (CTMC) with the modal interaction potential [1] has been used to simulate the differential, total and partial capture cross sections in proton-oxygen atom collisions in the energy range of 0.5–200 keV. An interesting feature of the calculated differential cross sections (DCS) curve below the scattering angle 0.1 is the presence of oscillations showing asymmetry in angular positions. The oscillations in the partial cross sections are explained in terms of swapping effect. The DCS and total cross sections are found to be in good agreement with the experimental as well as other theoretical results.  相似文献
