Extraction solvents for pressurized liquid extraction (PLE) used to extract polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins, polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDD/PCDFs), and coplanar polychlorinated biphenyls (Co-PCBs) from contaminated soil were investigated. The PCDD/PCDFs and Co-PCBs in Certified Reference Material: CRM 0422 (Forest soil) were extracted using toluene, n-hexane, acetone, acetone/toluene and acetone/n-hexane (1:1, v/v). Soxhlet extraction was the reference method. Results demonstrated that PLE using mixed solvents produced better analyte recoveries than the single solvents. However, these results were lower than those for Soxhlet extraction. Additional extraction cycles using mixed solvents achieved better recovery results. Mixed solvents and several extraction cycles were necessary for satisfactory extraction of more tightly bound PCDD/PCDFs and Co-PCBs from soil.  相似文献

A solid-phase microextraction (SPME) method was developed for air monitoring of organic solvents frequently used in chemical laboratories (namely pentane, dimethyl ether, acetone, acetonitrile, dichloromethane, hexane, ethylacetate, tetrahydrofurane, cyclohexane, benzene, and toluene). SPME sampling conditions and chromatographic separation were optimised. Linearity of response for each component of the mixture was tested. Standard solutions containing all the compounds, at three different concentrations, were analysed in triplicate and the relative standard deviations (RSDs) were calculated. The method was applied to the monitoring of indoor air in a research chemical laboratory. An SPME fibre was used as a sampling device inside the laboratory. Moreover an SPME fibre was used as a portable sampling device in order to determine the effective human exposure. Comparison of the portable and fixed sampling device showed differences in the amount of solvents associated with activities performed nearby.  相似文献

Solid phase microextraction (SPME) was applied in the development of a protocol for the analysis of a number of target organic compounds in landfill site samples. The selected analytes, including aromatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbous, and unsaturated compounds, were absorbed directly from a headspace sample above a soil layer onto a fused silica fiber. Following exposure, the fiber was thermally desorbed in the injection port of the gas chromatograph and eluted compounds were detected using a mass selective detector. The stability and sensitivity of the extraction technique were examined at five temperatures (22–60°C) using a 100μm polydimethylsiloxane fiber. Calibrations, using soil samples spiked with selected solvents (0.5–30 μg/g), were linear; trichloroethene (r2 = 0.992) and benzene (r2 = 0.998). SPME was applied to the examination of a municipal landfill where 8 sites were sampled, at three depths, resulting in the detection of xylene (maximum 2.8 μg/g) and a number of other non-target organic contaminants.  相似文献

A method based on solid-phase microextraction (SPME) and gas chromatography with flame ionization detection (GC-FID) has been optimized for the determination of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEX) in water released from a waste treatment plant. The extraction step was optimized using fractional factorial and central composite designs including the following experimental factors: saline concentration; extraction time; desorption time; agitation velocity; headspace volume. A multiple function was used to describe the experimental conditions for simultaneous extraction of the compounds. The procedure, based on direct SPME at 50 degrees C, using a polydimethylsiloxane fiber, showed good linearity (r>0.997 over a concentration range 2-200 microg L(-1)) and repeatability (relative standard deviation (RSD)<4.23%) for all compounds, with limits of detection ranging from 0.05 to 0.28 microg L(-1), and limits of quantification ranging from 0.14 to 0.84 microg L(-1). Concentrations of the target compounds in these samples were between 145.8 and 1891 microg L(-1).  相似文献

Solid-phase microextraction (SPME) with a disposable ionic liquid (IL) coating was developed for headspace extraction of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) in paints. The SPME fiber was coated with IL prior to every extraction, then the analytes were extracted and desorbed on the injection port of gas chromatography, and finally the IL coating on the fiber was washed out with solvents. The coating and washing out of IL from the fiber can be finished in a few minutes. This disposable IL-coated fiber was applied to determine BTEX in water-soluble paints with results in good agreement with that obtained by using commercially available SPME fibers. For all the four studied paints samples, the benzene contents were under the detection limits, but relatively high contents of toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes (56-271 microg g(-1)) were detected with spiked recoveries in the range of 70-114%. Compared to the widely used commercially available SPME fibers, this proposed disposable IL-coated fiber has much lower cost per determination, comparable reproducibility (RSD < 11%), and no carryover between each determination. Considering that IL possess good extractability for various organic compounds and metals ions, and that task-specific IL can be designed and synthesized for selective extraction of target analytes, this disposable IL coating SPME might has great potential in sample preparation.  相似文献

The aroma profile of cocoa products was investigated by headspace solid-phase micro-extraction (HS-SPME) combined with gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS). SPME fibers coated with 100 μm polydimethylsiloxane coating (PDMS), 65 μm polydimethylsiloxane/divinylbenzene coating (PDMS-DVB), 75 μm carboxen/polydimethylsiloxane coating (CAR-PDMS) and 50/30 μm divinylbenzene/carboxen on polydimethylsiloxane on a StableFlex fiber (DVB/CAR-PDMS) were evaluated. Several extraction times and temperature conditions were also tested to achieve optimum recovery. Suspensions of the samples in distilled water or in brine (25% NaCl in distilled water) were investigated to examine their effect on the composition of the headspace. The SPME fiber coated with 50/30 μm DVB/CAR-PDMS afforded the highest extraction efficiency, particularly when the samples were extracted at 60 °C for 15 min under dry conditions with toluene as an internal standard. Forty-five compounds were extracted and tentatively identified, most of which have previously been reported as odor-active compounds. The method developed allows sensitive and representative analysis of cocoa products with high reproducibility. Further research is ongoing to study chocolate making processes using this method for the quantitative analysis of volatile compounds contributing to the flavor/odor profile.  相似文献

Pressurized liquid extraction (PLE) was studied for simultaneous extractions of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans (PCDD/PCDFs), and of coplanar polychlorinated biphenyls (Co-PCBs) from a tightly bounded condition in the soil matrix. Temperatures were maintained at 175 and 200 degrees C, respectively, and two or three static cycles for single PLE with toluene and acetone/n-hexane were studied using a certified reference material to compare the effects of those conditions on recoveries. A single PLE with two static cycles at 150 degrees C and the repeated single PLE (additional PLE) were reference methods. Satisfactory recoveries were not obtained using tested single PLE (2,3,7,8-substituted PCDD/PCDFs and Co-PCBs average, average (avg.) 79-103%), but they were achieved using additional PLE (acetone/n-hexane, avg. 115-128%; toluene, avg. 111-132%). In addition, these methods and additional PLE of the reference method using acetone/n-hexane were not markedly different (avg. 123-128%). That fact suggests that the use of mixed solvents and additional PLE were more important factors than temperatures and static cycles of single PLE for quantitative and simultaneous extractions of those compounds from the soil.  相似文献

In this work cobalt oxide nanoparticles were introduced for preparation of a novel solid phase microextraction (SPME) fiber coating. Chemical bath deposition (CBD) technique was used in order for synthesis and immobilization of the Co3O4 nanomaterials on a Pt wire for fabrication of SPME fiber. The prepared cobalt oxide coating was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. The fiber was evaluated for the extraction of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene (BTEX) in combination with GC–MS. A simplex optimization method was used to optimize the factors affecting the extraction efficiency. Under optimized conditions, the proposed fiber showed extraction efficiencies comparable to those of a commercial polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) fiber toward the BTEX compounds. The repeatability of the fiber and its reproducibility, expressed as relative standard deviation (RSD), were lower than about 11%. No significant change was observed in the extraction efficiency of the new SPME fiber after over 50 extractions. The fiber was successfully applied to the determination of BTEX compounds in real samples. The proposed nanostructure cobalt oxide fiber is a promising alternative to the commercial fibers as it is robust, inexpensive and easily prepared.  相似文献

Abstract

A new analytical method is proposed for determining residues of 70 pesticides of different chemical families at parts per trillion levels in fresh vegetables. For that, only 4 g of the vegetable samples were quickly extracted with 10 ml of ethyl acetate. The method is based on a vanguard/rearguard strategy that reduces the average time required per sample when the method is applied to a high number of vegetable samples in a quality control laboratory. At the beginning, an aliquot of the extract is evaporated and re‐dissolved in a mixture water:acetone (9∶1 v/v). For screening purposes, the pesticides were extracted for only 10 min by direct immersion of a solid‐phase microextraction (SPME) fiber (65 µm polydimethylsiloxane‐divinylbenzene, PDMS‐DVB). The SPME device was automated and on‐line coupled to a gas chromatograph with an ion trap mass spectrometer (GC‐MS) operated in full scan mode for screening in less than 18 min those samples that potentially contain pesticides above 0.01 mg kg?1 (cut off value). After that, only those potentially non‐negative samples were reanalyzed by a sensitive quantifying/confirming method that re‐extract by SPME the pesticides in 55 min of absorption and determine them by GC with tandem MS (MS/MS). The method has been validated following EU guidelines and compared with a conventional extraction method based on the use of higher amounts of organic solvents. The limits of detection (LOD), confirmation (LOC) and quantitation (LOQ) as well as the calibration curves obtained allowed the determination of the target pesticides at concentrations clearly below the maximum residue levels (MRL) stated by EU being possible the determination of parts per trillion of the pesticides in ecological (green) vegetables. The method has been applied to the analysis of real samples and the results compared with those obtained by a conventional extraction method accredited by ENAC (Spanish Accreditation Body). The proposed method was also evaluated participating in a proficiency test with adequate results (z‐score among±2).  相似文献

Summary A protocol combining purge-and-trap (P&T) and solid-phase microextraction (SPME) was established for the analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the wastewater plant of high-tech industries. Over 60 VOCs could be analyzed by P&T coupled to gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (P&T-GC-MS). Four polar VOCs commonly used in the high-tech industries were determined by SPME coupled to gas chromatography/flame ionization detection (SPME-GC-FID). The limits of detection for the analytes were less than 1.1 μg L−1 with P&T-GC-MS, and between 1.5 and 12.5 μg L−1 with SPME-GC-FID. Satisfactory recoveries (83% to 130%) were obtained. Real samples were analyzed from a wastewater treatment plant during various stages of treatment. The major pollutant in the wastewater influent was found to be acetone (>4 ppm).  相似文献

Pressurized liquid extraction (PLE) was investigated for the extraction of two endosulfan isomers and their metabolite from two real contaminated soil samples. PLE for 3x10min at 100 degrees C was proven to be more exhaustive than Soxhlet extraction (SOX) in one soil sample. On the other soil sample investigated the method was found to be equally exhaustive as SOX. The use of hazardous organic solvents such as n-hexane, toluene, and diethyl ether has been avoided in PLE and clean-up. Instead less toxic solvents have been used both at the extraction step (acetone/n-heptane) and clean-up step (ethyl acetate/n-heptane). A column Florisil clean-up procedure that consumes relatively low solvent volumes has been optimized and applied to purify soil extracts. The developed analytical procedure was validated by applying it to a certified reference soil material (CRM811-050). A recovery of 103% total endosulfan residue was obtained versus certified values.  相似文献

Application of solid-phase microextraction to monitoring indoor air quality   总被引:7,自引:0,他引:7
Practical application of Solid-Phase Microextraction (SPME) for the assessment of the quality of indoor air is presented. SPME was used to sample selected organic pollutants (carbon tetrachloride, benzene, toluene, chlorobenzene, p-xylene and n-decane). An SPME fiber was coated with a 100 μm film of polydimethylsiloxane. The analytes extracted were analysed with a gas chromatograph directly coupled with a mass spectrometer (GC-MS). The method was used to assess the indoor air quality in a few selected flats. The concentrations ranged from below detection limits to 6.9 mg/m3 for benzene depending on the flat; they were relatively high for newly built or freshly renovated flats. To convert vegetable edible oils into vanaspati ghee, nickel is used as a catalyst in the hydrogenation process. A simple and fast method for the trace level determination of nickel in ghee is reported. In this work different methods were applied for the extraction of residual nickel from ghee samples. Using toluene, benzene and carbon tetrachloride as organic solvents, an acid mixture was used for the extraction of nickel. Extracted nickel was quantified with atomic absorption and colorimetric methods. Among the organic solvents, toluene proved to be the best solvent mediating a 95% extraction of nickel from ghee samples. Nickel was extracted and determined in ten different brands of ghee and in all samples its amount was well above the permissible limit of WHO (0.2 μg/g). Other metals like lead, zinc, copper, and cadmium were also determined and their concentrations were found to be much below the WHO permissible limits.  相似文献

The volatile aroma compounds in cooked pork were examined using solid-phase microextraction (SPME). Two SPME fibres coated with different stationary phases were used simultaneously to collect aroma compounds from the headspace above the pork. One fibre was coated with 75 microm. Carboxen-polydimethylsiloxane and the other was coated with 50/30 microm divinylbenzene-Carboxen on polydimethylsiloxane. After extraction, the two fibres were desorbed in the injection port of a gas chromatograph sequentially, so that the aroma compounds from both of the fibres could be analysed in one gas chromatogram. This procedure resulted in a chromatogram containing a more complete aroma profile for cooked pork than the chromatograms from either of the fibres on their own. Thirty-six compounds were identified in cooked pork for the first  相似文献

Extraction of dry cured ham volatile compounds by solid-phase microextraction (SPME) was optimized. Different fiber coatings (carboxen/polydimethylsiloxane (CAR/PDMS), divinylbenzene/carboxen/polydimethylsiloxane (DVB/CAR/PDMS), polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), polydimethylsiloxane/divinylbenzene (PDMS/DVB)), times of extraction (15, 30, 60 min) and sample preparation (ground samples and homogenates with NaCl saturated solution) were assayed. CAR/PDMS and DVB/CAR/PDMS fiber coatings extracted more than 100 volatile compounds and showed the highest area counts for most volatile compounds. CAR/PDMS coating extracted better those compounds whose Kovats index (KI) was lower than 980 (on average) and DVB/CAR/PDMS those with higher KI. Fifteen minutes of extraction provided a volatile compound profile with lower area counts for most compounds and qualitatively different to that obtained with 30 and 60 min of extraction. Homogenates gave a different profile compared to ground samples, with lower total counts for most compounds but higher proportion of aldehydes, and presence of several compounds not found in ground samples.  相似文献

A solid-phase microextraction (SPME) method has been developed to determine two methylated arsenic species in human urine samples by GC-MS. The direct extraction of the methyl arsenic compounds by SPME after thioglycol methylate derivatization was studied. Direct extraction with SPME was suitable for the determination of trace levels of dimethylarsinic acid (DMA) and monomethylarsonic acid (MMA) in urine samples. Four different commercial SPME fibers were tested for the extraction of methyl arsenic compounds, and the best results were obtained using the polydimethylsiloxane coating. The extraction and desorption time profiles of DMA and MMA were determined. The detection limits for DMA and MMA using the SPME-GC-MS method were 0.12 and 0.29 ng/ml, respectively. The method is linear in the 1 to 200 ng/ml range.  相似文献
