Using a SQUID magnetometer the magnetization of the Ising ferromagnet dysprosium ethyl sulphate has been measured in the temperature range 0.015–3K and in external fields 0.004–30 Oe. The results atT0.4 K (precritical regime) confirm the pure dipolar nature of the magnetic interactions. Particular interest has been paid to the immediate neighbourhood of the critical pointT c =118.17 mK andH=0 where the zero-field susceptibility(T) aboveT c , the spontaneous magnetizationM s (T), and the magnetization atT c ,M c (H), can be described by mean field laws modified by logarithmic singularities. The critical amplitudes, B, andD of, M s andM c , respectively, satisfy the relation (2/3B 2)1/3=D. All these results agree with predictions of (i) the Larkin-Khmel'nitskii theory and (ii) exact solutions of the renormalization group equations for 3-dimensional dipolar Ising ferromagnets.A project of the Sonderforschungsbereich 65 Festkörperspektroskopie Darmstadt-Frankfurt, financed by special funds of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft  相似文献

An extension of the Supersymmetric Standard Model to the supersymmetricSU(2) L×SU(2) R×U(1) B–L model is considered. The gauge group contains a bidoublet and triplet Higgs field. We investigate the possibility of detecting chargino and neutralino production in -collisions atCDF, namely . A numerical analysis is performed for , tan 1 and a lower bound on the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) mass, GeV. Using conservative assumptions ofM WR300 GeV andgg Lg R, we find the cross sections are: , and pb, and thus L 24 L at TeV. Cross sections are also given for larger values of the center of mass energy up to those available at the SSC. The results are compared with the prompt-lepton background of theW L, R decays from . Both decays for bosons show Jacobian peaks for (p T150 GeV forM WR) at =90°. Furthermore the chargino signature unlike the promptlepton background is symmetric under the Jacobian peak. We also exhibit the dependence of the angular distribution of the chargino on the c.m. angle forp T40 GeV, 150 GeV at TeV.  相似文献

Near threshold photoproduction of-mesons from the proton has been measured at the MAMI accelerator with the TAPS spectrometer. The mass of the-meson was deduced from the threshold energy for-photoproduction. The result of m =(547.12 ± 0.06 ± 0.25) MeV supports the low value of the-mass reported from a dp 3He measurement at SATURNE in 1992. We analyze the radiative and hadronic decays of vector heavy mesons within the relativistic quark model with confined light quarks. The only adjustable parameters in this approach are the values of constituent masses of heavy quarks (M c andM b). We adjust them using the available experimental data from CLEO and ARGUS-collaborations for theD *D andD *D branching ratios. It is found that the value ofM c varies approximately in the interval 1.3 GeVM c<1.65 gev.=" we=" give=" the=" predictions=" for=" the=" absolute=" values=" of=" decay=" widths=" and=" compare=" our=" results=" with=" those=" obtained=" in=" other=" approaches.=" also=" we=" consider=" the=" heavy=" quark=">M Q withE=M H–MQ=const for the decay amplitudes.  相似文献

A detailed phenomenological re-analysis of previously published conductivity data, (T, x), is presented. It was shown in [1] that the cusp-like low-temperature contribution can be described by wherep=0.19±0.03. Starting from this result, two furtherT dependent contributions are separated: The high-temperature region is dominated by a positive contribution ht (T, x), which is approximately independent ofx, nearly linear inT above 100 K and nearly quadratic inT below 30 K. ForT 4 K, there is a small deviation, increasing withT, from the superposition of the above mechanisms. The relation between , being negative, and theT independent part, , exhibits a singularity, where and=0.68±0.05 –(p–0.19). This singularity should be related to the metal-semiconductor transition, taking place atT c 0.14. The quantity should be interpreted as minimum metallic conductivity. The limitingT dependences asxx c +0 agrees quantitatively with that one obtained previously for the activated region,xx c –0. Extrapolation of the phenomenological model obtained leads to the hypothesis that the interplay of and ht could be the main origin of the temperature coefficient changing its sign in the Mooijregion, at tc=0. The model enables several trend predictions concerning the value of tc=0.  相似文献

Large-deviations estimates for the autocorrelations of order kof the random process Z n=(X n)+ n, n0, are obtained. The processes (X n) n0and ( n) n0are independent, n, n0, are i.i.d. bounded random variables, X n=T n(X 0), n , T: MMis expanding leaving invariant a Gibbs measure on a compact set M, and : M is a continuous function. A possible application of this result is the case where Mis the unit circle and the Gibbs measure is the one absolutely continuous with respect to the Lebesgue measure on the circle. The case when Tis a uniquely ergodic map was studied in Carmona et al.(1998). In the present paper Tis an expanding map. However, it is possible to derive large-deviations properties for the autocorrelations samples (1/n) n–1 j=0 Z j Z j+k . But the deviation function is quite different from the uniquely ergodic case because it is necessary to take into account the entropy of invariant measures for Tas an important information. The method employed here is a combination of the variational principle of the thermodynamic formalism with Donsker and Varadhan's large-deviations approach.  相似文献

Antiproton annihilation at rest in gaseous hydrogen (16 bar pressure) to the final states (770)X andf 2(1270)X, whereX stands for one or more neutral mesons, has been studied at LEAR using the CPLEAR detector. Relative branching ratios are given forX = 0,2 0, 3 0 in the case, and forX = 0, in thef 2 case. The annihilation channel has not been measured before. The fraction of P-wave annihilation is deduced from the ratiof 2 0/ 0 to be 0.38±0.07, in good agreement with the result previously obtained by CPLEAR from the ratioK + K -/ + -.  相似文献

Our investigation of the electrical resistivity (T) betweenT=0.1 K and 295 K revealed for all Fe-concentrations, 2.4x16, a minimum of betweenT min=7 K and 15 K. Above the minimum, scattering from structural disorder prevails in the paramagnetic alloy (x=2.4), while in the ferromagnetic glasses (x5.6) coherent magnon scattering appears to dominate. With one exception, (TT min) increases as down to the lowest temperatures for all investigated Fe-contents (x10.4) in zero magnetic field as well as in applied 6 T. The value of the slopes, 6.3(6) ( cm)–1 K–1/2, agrees with the universal scaling behaviour reported recently by Cochrane and Strom-Olsen for systems with strong electron-electron interaction. A large, linear rise of (T<T min,B=0) observed in the most diluted sample (x=2.4) is tentatively attributed to quantum localization in the non-reentrant spin glass phase. The magnitude of the temperature effects on (T) above as well as belowT min indicates significantd-band contributions to the conductivity.  相似文献

Niobium films on sapphire were reacted in tin-vapour to Nb3Sn with resistance ratiosR(297 K)/R(18.3 K) up to 6 and resistively measured superconducting transition temperaturesT c up to 17.93 K. The composition Nb3+z Sn1–z H x of electrolytically hydrogenated samples was determined depth dependent by Rutherford backscattering of 30 MeV32S and simultaneous detection of recoiled protons. Considerable concentration gradients in the thin layers (0.27 m) were detected. The increase of resistivity with hydrogen content and the change in the temperature dependence of is analyzed. A correlation betweenT c and 0= is found: An increase of T c =0.2 K at 025cm andx0.03 is followed by a drastic decrease toT c <1.1 K at 080cm andx1. TheT c vs. 0 andT c vs. (T) characteristic correlations are different from universal irradiation or preparation induced correlations. The discrepancies can be interpreted by a stiffening of phonon modes and a band-shifting caused by the hydrogen.  相似文献

We present measurement of the 0*, * and * form factors. The 0-form factor is for the first time observed in the space-like region. The transition form factor of the -meson is determined from its decay modes +0, + and the neutral decay mode . The decay of the is observed in the decay channels , + with and in the four charged prong final state stemming from + with the decaying into +(0/). All form factors agree well with a simple -pole predicted by the vector meson dominance model and also with the QCD inspired Brodsky-Lepage model.  相似文献

In the reactione + e W + W ( ) ( ) we expect that normally the colour singlet systems ( ) and ( ) hadronize independently into two hadron chains or strings. However also the pairs ( ) and ( ) form colour singlets with probability 1/N c 2 =1/9. This probability could be further enhanced by gluon exchange. We therefore expect that the hadronization can give recoupled colour strings between these quark-antiquark pairs with some small probability, and a study of this effect will give interesting information about the vacuum structure. In this paper we discuss a possible experimental signal for recoupled events and show that such events can be identified also when the effect of gluon emission before the recoupling is taken into account.  相似文献

The tension of the interface between the equilibrium phases of a phase-separated polymer solution is obtained in the simplest mean-field approximation from the functional equation for the composition profile of the interface. For temperaturesT near the critical solution temperatureT c, i.e., for Flory parameter near c, and for high degrees of polymerizationN, the profile and tension scale with=N 1/2( c), just as do the compositions of the coexisting phases in mean-field approximation. The surface tension in the asymptotic limitN, c at fixedx, is found to be given bya 2/kT c (2c'/c)1/2 N -5/4(x), wherea is the lattice spacing of an underlying lattice (or, roughly, the length of a monomer),c andc are the vertical and total coordination numbers of the lattice, and(x) is a scaling function, known for allx, with the asymptotic behavior asx0 and asx. The latter implies that becomes independent ofN asN at fixedT nearT c; the former implies that becomes proportional toN –1/2(1–T/T c)3/2 asTT c at fixedN1, as found previously.  相似文献

Finite squareL×L Ising lattices with ferromagnetic nearest neighbor interaction are simulated using the Swendsen-Wang cluster algorithm. Both thermal properties (internal energyU, specific heatC, magnetization |M|, susceptibility) and percolation cluster properties relating to the physical clusters, namely the Fortuin-Kasteleyn clusters (percolation probability P , percolation susceptibility p, cluster size distributionn l) are evaluated, paying particular attention to finite-size effects. It is shown that thermal properties can be expressed entirely in terms of cluster properties, P being identical to |M| in the thermodynamic limit, while finite-size corrections differ. In contrast, p differs from even in the thermodynamic limit, since a fluctuation in the size of the percolating net contributes to, but not to p. NearT c the cluster size distribution has the scaling properties as hypothesized by earlier phenomenological theories. We also present a generalization of the Swendsen-Wang algorithm allowing one to cross over continuously to the Glauber dynamics.  相似文献

annihilation at rest into five pions was studied in the ASTERIX spectrometer by stopping antiprotrons from LEAR in a H2 or D2 gas target. In annihilations in H2 leading to the ++0 final state, the invariant mass spectra of two, three, and four pions show no evidence for any new narrow states. In the difference of the four pion mass spectra recoiling against a and those recoiling against a + shows a resonance-like structure ( (1480)), confirming a previous analysis with a smaller event sample. The (1480) mass is shown to depend strongly on the momentum of the spectator proton. In H2, we searched for the (1480) in the reaction (1480), (1480) ++ to clarify whether the (1480) is identical to the 4-mode of thef 2 (1520). No evidence for this decay mode was found. A prominent resonance in innihilation into five pions is the meson. We find two quasi-two-body intermediate states: and (1235). The mass and width of theb 1 (1235) are determined to be:

Based on 520 000 fermion pairs accumulated during the first three years of data collection by the ALEPH detector at LEP, updated values of the resonance parameters of theZ are determined to beM Z =(91.187±0.009) GeV, Z =(2.501±0.012) GeV, had 0 =(41.60±0.27) nb, andR =20.78±0.13. The corresponding number of light neutrino species isN =2.97±0.05. The forward-backward asymmetry in lepton-pair decays is used to determine the ratio of vector to axial-vector couplings of leptons:g V 2 (M Z 2 )/g A 2 (M Z 2 )=0.0052±0.0016. Combining this with ALEPH measurements of theb andc quark asymmetries and polarization gives sin2 W eff =0.2326±0.0013. Assuming the minimal Standard Model, and including measurements ofM W /M Z fromp colliders and neutrino-nucleon scattering, the mass of the top quark is GeV.Deceased  相似文献

Arguments are presented to demonstrate that exact equality relations exist between the critical exponents which characterize the macroscopic conductivity e and the macroscopic elastic stiffness moduli C e of percolating systems of any dimensionality. Using the notation e p t , C e p T for the critical behavior of a randomly diluted system slightly above the percolation threshold p c , (ppp c >0) and e |p|s , C e |p|S for the critical behavior of a random mixture of normal and perfectly conducting or normal and perfectly rigid constituents slightly below that threshold, (ppp c <0) we show that T=t+2 and S=s, where is the percolation correlation length critical exponent |p| (p0).  相似文献

We consider the CP-violating asymmetry betweenB 0f and f in the case thatf is a CP-eigenstate containing no charmed quarks. The asymmetry is assumed to arise as a result of mixing with other channelsf having the same quantum numbers but containing ac pair. Inelastic unitarity is implemented by means of the K-Matrix formalism, in which the constraints of CPT are manifestly satisfied. The formalism is applied to a hypothetical two-channel problemB 0M ,M , and then to a realistic four-channel situationB 0 + , 0 0,D + D ,D 0 0. We report analyses of series enumerations for the mean radius of gyration for isotropic and directed lattice animals and for percolation clusters, in two and three dimensions. We allow for the leading correction to the scaling behaviour and obtain estimates of the leading correction-to-scaling exponent . We find -0.640±0.004 and =0.87±0.07 for isotropic animals in 2d, and =0.64±0.06 in 3d. For directed lattice animals we argue that the leading correction has= or= ; we also estimate =0.82±0.01 and 0.69 ±0.01 ind=2, 3 respectively. For percolation clusters at and abovep c, we find (p c) =0.58±0.06 and (p>p c)=0.84±0.09 in 2d, and (p c)=0.42±0.11 and (p>p c)=0.41 ±0.09 in 3d.  相似文献
