We study the homogenization of a slow viscous two‐phase incompressible flow in a domain consisting of a free fluid domain, a porous medium, and the interface between them. We take into account the capillary forces on the fluid‐fluid interfaces. We construct boundary layers describing the flow at the interface between the free fluid and the porous medium. We derive a macroscopic model with a viscous two‐phase fluid in the free domain, a coupled Darcy law connecting two‐phase velocities in the porous medium, and boundary conditions at the permeable interface between the free fluid domain and the porous medium.  相似文献

A nonlinear model for a steady flow in a deformable porous medium is considered. The flow is governed by the poroelasticity system consisting of an elasticity equation for the displacement of the porous medium and Darcy's equation for the pressure in the fluid. This poroelasticity system is nonlinear when the permeability in Darcy's equation is assumed to depend on the dilatation of the porous medium. Existence and uniqueness of a weak solution of this poroelasticity system is established under rather weak assumptions on the regularity of the data. Convergence of a finite element approximation is proved and verified through numerical experiments. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The article studies the homogenization of a stationary Navier-Stokes fluid in porous medium with thin film under Dirichlet boundary condition. At the end of the article,"Darcy's law"is rigorously derived from this model as the parameter ε tends to zero, which is independent of the coordinates towards the thickness.  相似文献

We consider a multicomponent fluid placed in a porous medium. The Ornstein—Zernike approximation is used to calculate the pair correlation functions for density fluctuations in the mixture components. We show that light scattering in the neighborhood of the critical state of the system is determined (in the single-scattering approximation) by the commonly known Ornstein—Zernike formula. We investigate the shift in the critical parameters due to the porous medium. __________ Translated from Teoreticheskaya i Matematicheskaya Fizika, Vol. 146, No. 3, pp. 525–528, March, 2006.  相似文献

In this article, a porous medium equation with nonlocal boundary condition and a localized source is studied. The results of the existence of global solutions or blow-up of solutions are given. The blow-up rate estimates are also obtained under some conditions.  相似文献

This article studies the blow-up properties of solutions to a porous medium equation with nonlocal boundary condition and a general localized source. Conditions for the existence of global or blow-up solutions are obtained. Moreover, it is proved that the unique solution has global blow-up property whenever blow-up occurs. Blow-up rate estimates are also obtained for some special cases.  相似文献

The effects of Hall current and heat transfer on the rotating flow of a second grade fluid past a porous plate with variable suction are examined. The medium considered is porous and suction and external flow velocities vary periodically. The plate is assumed to be at a higher temperature than the fluid. The influences of the Hall parameter and porosity of the medium have been seen and discussed on the velocity and temperature profiles. Moreover, these influences have also been seen on the drag and lateral stress. Finally, the obtained solutions are also compared with the previous studies in the literature and found quite agreement.  相似文献

The effect of heat and mass transfer on free convective flow of a visco-elastic incompressible electrically conducting fluid past a vertical porous plate through a porous medium with time dependant oscillatory permeability and suction in the presence of a uniform transverse magnetic field, heat source and chemical reaction has been studied in this paper. The novelty of the present study is to analyze the effect of chemical reaction, time dependant fluctuative suction and permeability of the medium on a visco-elastic fluid flow. It is interesting to note that presence of sink contributes to oscillatory motion leading to flow instability. Further it is remarked that presence of heat source and low rate of thermal diffusion counteract each other in the presence of reacting species.  相似文献

We have used effective medium model for beds of circular cylindrical porous fibres in order to estimate the overall bed permeability (OBP). It is assumed that a representative circular porous cylindrical fibre is inside a fluid envelope beyond which effective medium is used. Both inside the cylindrical fibre and in the effective medium, Brinkman equation is used, however of different permeabilities and in the fluid envelope Stokes equation is used. The OBP corresponding to the porous fibres is estimated when the flow direction is perpendicular to the axis of the cylindrical fibres as well as parallel to the fibres. This in turn is used to estimate the OBP corresponding to a collection of porous cylindrical fibres that are randomly oriented. We have compared the results with some existing literature.  相似文献

In this short paper, we establish the global existence and boundedness of solutions to the initial-boundary value problem of a chemotaxis-Stokes system with porous-medium-like cell diffusion Δnm for all adiabatic exponents m>1. Our result extend the corresponding result under the constraint m ( 3 2 , 2 ].  相似文献

Dorodnicyn’s generalized method of integral relations is used to compute a Verigin-type single-phase unsteady flow in a porous medium. This problem describes the pumping of a gas through a gallery in a bounded horizontal aquifer and is associated with underground gas storage in aquifers. The case of an isothermal process and an ideal gas are considered. The viscosity of the gas is neglected. Sines are used as smoothing functions. The results obtained in the first and third approximations are presented and analyzed. The solution is compared with a finite-difference solution and that produced by the method of integral relations. The results are given in a table.  相似文献

The natural convection boundary-layer flow on a solid verticalsurface with heat generated within the boundary layer at a rateproportional to (TT)p (p 1) is considered. The surfaceis held at the ambient temperature T except near the leadingedge where it is held at a temperature above ambient. The behaviourof the flow as it develops from the leading edge is examinedand is seen to become independent of the initial heat input;however, it does depend strongly on the exponent p. For 1 p 2, the local heating eventually dominates at large distancesand there is a convective flow driven by this mechanism. Forp 4, the local heating does not have a significant effect, the fluid temperature remains relatively small throughout andthe heat transfer dies out through a wall jet flow. For 2 <p < 4, the local heating has a significant effect at relativelysmall distances, with a thermal runaway developing at a finitedistance along the surface.  相似文献

We study numerical approximations of positive solutions of the porous medium equation with a nonlinear source, where m > 1, p > 0 and L > 0 are parameters. We describe in terms of p, m, and L when solutions of a semidiscretization in space exist globally in time and when they blow up in a finite time. We also find the blow‐up rates and the blow‐up sets, proving that there is no regional blow‐up for the numerical scheme. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In the present paper, a sufficient condition is derived for the validity of the “principle of the exchange of stabilities” in ferromagnetic convection with magnetic field dependent viscosity, for the case of free boundaries, in porous medium in the presence of a uniform vertical magnetic field and uniform rotation about the vertical axis.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate the influence of viscous dissipation and Soret effect on natural convection heat and mass transfer from vertical cone in a non-Darcy porous media saturated with non-Newtonian fluid. The surface of the cone and the ambient medium are maintained at constant but different levels of temperature and concentration. The Ostwald-de Waele power law model is used to characterize the non-Newtonian fluid behavior. The governing equations are non-dimensionalized into non-similar form and then solved numerically by local non-similarity method. The effect of non-Darcy parameter, viscous dissipation parameter, Soret parameter, buoyancy ratio, Lewis number and the power-law index parameter on the temperature and concentration field as well as on the heat and mass transfer coefficients is analyzed.  相似文献

We study the behavior of the solution to the non-stationary Stokes equations in a porous medium with characteristic size of the pores ε and containing a thin fissure {0?xn?η} of width η. The limit when ε and η tend to zero gives the homogenized behavior of the flow, which depends on the comparison between ε and η.  相似文献

Using normal mode technique it has been shown that (i) values of the anisotropy parameter are important in deciding the mode of convection in a doubly diffusive fluid saturating a porous medium. (ii) Depending on the values of the Soret and Dufour parameters, an increase in anisotropy parameter either promotes or inhibits instability, (iii) cross-diffusion induces instability even in a potentially stable set-up and (iv) for certain values of the Dufour and Soret parameters there is a discontinuity in the critical thermal Rayleigh number, which disappears if the porous medium has horizontal isotropy.  相似文献
