T-odd correlations that are possible in the processes n + p d + and n + p d + e+ + ee- and that arise due to the capture of thermal neutrons are determined in terms of threshold amplitudes (for the process n + p d + @#@) or electromagnetic inelastic form factors (for the process n + p d+ e+ + ee§-). Experimental data on the shape of hadronic momentum spectra are compared to theoretical predictions in the context of calculations in the Modified Leading Log Approximation (MLLA), under the assumption of Local Parton Hadron Duality (LPHD). Considered are experimental measurements ate + e ?-colliders of ξ p * the position of the maximum in the distribution of ξ p =log(1/x p ), wherex p =p/p beam. The parameter ξ p * is determined for various hadrons at various centre of mass energies. The dependence on the hadron type poses some interesting questions about the process of hadron-formation. The dependence of ξ p * on the centre of mass energy is seen to be described adequately by perturbation theory. A quantitative check of LPHD + MLLA is possible by extracting a value of α s from an overall fit to the scaling behaviour of ξ p * .  相似文献

Polarization effects in the inclusive process e + p e + + X due to the neutral current are studied in the framework of the Weinberg-Salam model. Expressions for the asymmetry parameters and the degree of circular polarization of the photons are obtained in the quark-parton picture. We discuss the speculations that the e+e peaks seen in large-Z heavy-ion collisions are evidence for a confined phase of an effective theory similar to strongly-coupled QED. It has been suggested that the observed radiation arises from the decay of nontopological solitons in this confined phase. (In this work we develop a scenario in which a photon condensate is formed in a finite region of space. We show that the existence of such a condensate will lead to the confinement of electrons and positrons.) However, as has been recently pointed out by Peccei, Solà and Wetterich, a new phase of QED requires that the nonlinear effects in the effective Lagrangian for the electromagnetic field become large. We describe how this might come about, within the context of electroweak theory with two Higgs doublets.  相似文献

The reaction e+e → ηπ+π has been studied with the Neutral Detector in the CM energy range 1.05–1.40 GeV at VEPP-2M. At the maximum energy the cross section exceeds the prediction of the vector dominance with one ϱ(770). The following upper limits for the electron width times branching ratio into ηπ+π have been obtained for a resonance with a mass of 1.28 GeV and width of 0.08 GeV observed with the Omega-spectrometer at CERN: Λee·Bηππ < 9 eV, and for a ϱ′(1250) with a mass of 1.26 GeV and width of 0.125 GeV: Λee·Bηππ < 14 eV at 90% confidence level.  相似文献

The conversion decays φηe+e and ηγe+e were studied by the SND detector using φ-meson production in e+e-annihilation at VEPP-2M collider. The branching ratios of these decays were measured: Br(φηe+e)=(1.19±0.19±0.07)×10−4 and Br(ηγe+e)=(5.15±0.62±0.39)×10−3. Using recent BABAR, CMD-3 and SND data, the sum of e + e ? → 3(π+π?), 2(π+π?π0), \(p\bar p\) , \(n\bar n\) cross sections is obtained. Unlike e + e ? 3(π+π?) and e + e ? → 2(π+π?π0) processes, no structures in total cross section are found near the \(N\bar N\) threshold within the limits of measurement errors.  相似文献

Excited electrons, e1's, have been searched for by making use of the processes e+e→e+eγγ and eγ(e) (quasi-real Compton scattering). From the former process, we have obtained the lower limit for the mass of e1', 27.9 GeV/c. A good agreement with QED is observed in the latter process, and new upper limits have been set for the coupling strength λ as a function of the mass of e1.  相似文献
