No legendary Prussian order! The distribution of vacancies in Prussian blue analogues is not random, and the spin density on the Cd2+ ion varies depending on the number of paramagnetic ions in its surroundings. This conclusion follows from 113Cd solid‐state magic‐angle spinning NMR studies of [Cd3{Fe/Co(CN)6}2]?15 H2O, where the presence of small but significant spin density on the observed 113Cd nucleus leads to improved spectral resolution.

Deuterium (2H) magic‐angle spinning (MAS) nuclear magnetic resonance is applied to monitor the dynamics of the exchanging labile deuterons of polycrystalline L ‐histidine hydrochloride monohydrate‐d7 and α‐oxalic acid dihydrate‐d6. Direct experimental evidence of fast dynamics is obtained from T1Z and T1Q measurements. Further motional information is extracted from two‐dimensional single‐quantum (SQ) and double‐quantum (DQ) MAS spectra. Differences between the SQ and DQ linewidths clearly indicate the presence of motions on intermediate timescales for the carboxylic moiety and the D2O in α‐oxalic acid dihydrate, and for the amine group and the D2O in L ‐histidine hydrochloride monohydrate. Comparison of the relaxation rate constants of Zeeman and quadrupolar order with the relaxation rate constants of the DQ coherences suggests the co‐existence of fast and slow motional processes. 相似文献

On an atomic scale and with high sensitivity, solid‐state NMR spectroscopy can provide information about the electronic spin density and coupling mechanisms in paramagnetic compounds. The picture shows how the hyperfine splitting collapses through relaxation. Insights into which compounds are suitable and which approximations have to be made are given.

In this contribution we present a study of the structure of amorphous poly(carbonsuboxide) (C3O2)x by 13C solid-state NMR spectroscopy supported by infrared spectroscopy and chemical analysis. Poly(carbonsuboxide) was obtained by polymerization of carbonsuboxide C3O2, which in turn was synthesized from malonic acid bis(trimethylsilylester). Two different 13C labeling schemes were applied to probe inter- and intramonomeric bonds in the polymer by dipolar solid-state NMR methods and also to allow quantitative 13C MAS NMR spectra. Four types of carbon environments can be distinguished in the NMR spectra. Double-quantum and triple-quantum 2D correlation experiments were used to assign the observed peaks using the through-space and through-bond dipolar coupling. In order to obtain distance constraints for the intermonomeric bonds, double-quantum constant-time experiments were performed. In these experiments an additional filter step was applied to suppress contributions from not directly bonded 13C,13C spin pairs. The 13C NMR intensities, chemical shifts, connectivities and distances gave constraints for both the polymerization mechanism and the short-range order of the polymer. The experimental results were complemented by bond lengths predicted by density functional theory methods for several previously suggested models. Based on the presented evidence we can unambiguously exclude models based on gamma-pyronic units and support models based on alpha-pyronic units. The possibility of planar ladder- and bracelet-like alpha-pyronic structures is discussed. 相似文献

Boronic acids (R‐B(OH)2) are a family of molecules that have found a large number of applications in materials science. In contrast, boronate anions (R‐B(OH)3?) have hardly been used so far for the preparation of novel materials. Here, a new crystalline phase involving a boronate ligand is described, Ca[C4H9‐B(OH)3]2, which is then used as a basis for the establishment of the spectroscopic signatures of boronates in the solid state. The phase was characterized by IR and multinuclear solid‐state NMR spectroscopy (1H, 13C, 11B and 43Ca), and then modeled by periodic DFT calculations. Anharmonic OH vibration frequencies were calculated as well as NMR parameters (by using the Gauge Including Projector Augmented Wave—GIPAW—method). These data allow relationships between the geometry around the OH groups in boronates and the IR and 1H NMR spectroscopic data to be established, which will be key to the future interpretation of the spectra of more complex organic–inorganic materials containing boronate building blocks. 相似文献

Poly(aminoimino)heptazine, otherwise known as Liebig's melon, whose composition and structure has been subject to multitudinous speculations, was synthesized from melamine at 630 degrees C under the pressure of ammonia. Electron diffraction, solid-state NMR spectroscopy, and theoretical calculations revealed that the nanocrystalline material exhibits domains well-ordered in two dimensions, thereby allowing the structure solution in projection by electron diffraction. Melon ([C(6)N(7)(NH(2))(NH)](n), plane group p2 gg, a=16.7, b=12.4 A, gamma=90 degrees, Z=4), is composed of layers made up from infinite 1D chains of NH-bridged melem (C(6)N(7)(NH(2))(3)) monomers. The strands adopt a zigzag-type geometry and are tightly linked by hydrogen bonds to give a 2D planar array. The inter-layer distance was determined to be 3.2 A from X-ray powder diffraction. The presence of heptazine building blocks, as well as NH and NH(2) groups was confirmed by (13)C and (15)N solid-state NMR spectroscopy using (15)N-labeled melon. The degree of condensation of the heptazine core was further substantiated by a (15)N direct excitation measurement. Magnetization exchange observed between all (15)N nuclei using a fp-RFDR experiment, together with the CP-MAS data and elemental analysis, suggests that the sample is mainly homogeneous in terms of its basic composition and molecular building blocks. Semiempirical, force field, and DFT/plane wave calculations under periodic boundary conditions corroborate the structure model obtained by electron diffraction. The overall planarity of the layers is confirmed and a good agreement is obtained between the experimental and calculated NMR chemical shift parameters. The polymeric character and thermal stability of melon might render this polymer a pre-stage of g-C(3)N(4) and portend its use as a promising inert material for a variety of applications in materials and surface science. 相似文献

Fast Li Ion Dynamics in the Solid Electrolyte Li7P3S11 as Probed by 6,7Li NMR Spin‐Lattice Relaxation 下载免费PDF全文
The development of safe and long‐lasting all‐solid‐state batteries with high energy density requires a thorough characterization of ion dynamics in solid electrolytes. Commonly, conductivity spectroscopy is used to study ion transport; much less frequently, however, atomic‐scale methods such as nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) are employed. Here, we studied long‐range as well as short‐range Li ion dynamics in the glass‐ceramic Li7P3S11. Li+ diffusivity was probed by using a combination of different NMR techniques; the results are compared with those obtained from electrical conductivity measurements. Our NMR relaxometry data clearly reveal a very high Li+ diffusivity, which is reflected in a so‐called diffusion‐induced 6Li NMR spin‐lattice relaxation peak showing up at temperatures as low as 313 K. At this temperature, the mean residence time between two successful Li jumps is in the order of 3×108 s?1, which corresponds to a Li+ ion conductivity in the order of 10?4 to 10?3 S cm?1. Such a value is in perfect agreement with expectations for the crystalline but metastable glass ceramic Li7P3S11. In contrast to conductivity measurements, NMR analysis reveals a range of activation energies with values ranging from 0.17 to 0.26 eV, characterizing Li diffusivity in the bulk. In our case, through‐going Li ion transport, when probed by using macroscopic conductivity spectroscopy, however, seems to be influenced by blocking grain boundaries including, for example, amorphous regions surrounding the Li7P3S11 crystallites. As a result of this, long‐range ion transport as seen by impedance spectroscopy is governed by an activation energy of approximately 0.38 eV. The findings emphasize how surface and grain boundary effects can drastically affect long‐range ionic conduction. If we are to succeed in solid‐state battery technology, such effects have to be brought under control by, for example, sophisticated densification or through the preparation of samples that are free of any amorphous regions that block fast ion transport. 相似文献

Curli are functional bacterial amyloids produced by an intricate biogenesis machinery. Insights into their folding and regulation can advance our understanding of amyloidogenesis. However, gaining detailed structural information of amyloids, and their tendency for structural polymorphisms, remains challenging. Herein we compare high‐quality solid‐state NMR spectra from biofilm‐derived and recombinantly produced curli and provide evidence that they adopt a similar, well‐defined β‐solenoid arrangement. Curli subunits consist of five sequence repeats, resulting in severe spectral overlap. Using segmental isotope labeling, we obtained the unambiguous sequence‐specific resonance assignments and secondary structure of one repeat, and demonstrate that all repeats are most likely structurally equivalent. 相似文献

An efficient mixing scheme is introduced for establishing two-dimensional (2D) homonuclear correlations based on dipolar couplings. This mixing scheme achieves broadband dipolar recoupling using remarkably low powers even under ultrafast magic-angle spinning (MAS) rates. This Adiabatic Linearly FREquency Swept reCOupling (AL FRESCO) method applies a series of weak frequency-chirped pluses on the 1H channel, for performing efficient 13C−13C magnetization transfers leading to cross peaks between sites separated over small or large chemical shift differences. The mixing scheme is nearly free from dipolar truncation effects, and thanks to the low RF powers it involves it can act over long mixing times (≥1.5 sec). Key considerations required for optimizing this chirped pulse mixing scheme are discussed, and the new kind of correlations that can emerge from this method are demonstrated using uniformly 13C-labeled Barstar as test protein sample. 相似文献

The application of periodic density functional theory‐based methods to the calculation of 95Mo electric field gradient (EFG) and chemical shift (CS) tensors in solid‐state molybdenum compounds is presented. Calculations of EFG tensors are performed using the projector augmented‐wave (PAW) method. Comparison of the results with those obtained using the augmented plane wave + local orbitals (APW+lo) method and with available experimental values shows the reliability of the approach for 95Mo EFG tensor calculation. CS tensors are calculated using the recently developed gauge‐including projector augmented‐wave (GIPAW) method. This work is the first application of the GIPAW method to a 4d transition‐metal nucleus. The effects of ultra‐soft pseudo‐potential parameters, exchange‐correlation functionals and structural parameters are precisely examined. Comparison with experimental results allows the validation of this computational formalism. 相似文献

Five new polymorphs and one hydrated form of 2‐thiobarbituric acid have been isolated and characterised by solid‐state methods. In both the crystalline form II and in the hydrate form, the 2‐thiobarbituric molecules are present in the enol form, whereas only the keto isomer is present in crystalline forms I (reported in 1967 by Calas and Martinex), III , V and VI . In form IV , on the other hand, a 50:50 ordered mixture of enol/keto molecules is present. All new forms have been characterised by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction, 1D and 2D (1H, 13C, and 15N) solid‐state NMR spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and X‐ray powder diffraction at variable temperature. It has been possible to induce keto–enol conversion between the forms by mechanical methods. The role of hydrogen‐bond interactions in determining the relative stability of the polymorphs and as a driving force in the conversions has been ascertained. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, the 2‐thiobarbituric family of crystal forms represents the richest collection of examples of tautomeric polymorphism so far reported in the literature. 相似文献

Multinuclear (31P and 79/81Br), multifield (9.4, 11.75, and 21.1 T) solid‐state nuclear magnetic resonance experiments are performed for seven phosphonium bromides bearing the triphenylphosphonium cation, a molecular scaffold found in many applications in chemistry. This is undertaken to fully characterise their bromine electric field gradient (EFG) tensors, as well as the chemical shift (CS) tensors of both the halogen and the phosphorus nuclei, providing a rare and novel insight into the local electronic environments surrounding them. New crystal structures, obtained from single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction, are reported for six compounds to aid in the interpretation of the NMR data. Among them is a new structure of BrPPh4, because the previously reported one was inconsistent with our magnetic resonance data, thereby demonstrating how NMR data of non‐standard nuclei can correct or improve X‐ray diffraction data. Our results indicate that, despite sizable quadrupolar interactions, 79/81Br magnetic resonance spectroscopy is a powerful characterisation tool that allows for the differentiation between chemically similar bromine sites, as shown through the range in the characteristic NMR parameters. 35/37Cl solid‐state NMR data, obtained for an analogous phosphonium chloride sample, provide insight into the relationship between unit cell volume, nuclear quadrupolar coupling constants, and Sternheimer antishielding factors. The experimental findings are complemented by gauge‐including projector‐augmented wave (GIPAW) DFT calculations, which substantiate our experimentally determined strong dependence of the largest component of the bromine CS tensor, δ11, on the shortest Br? P distance in the crystal structure, a finding that has possible application in the field of NMR crystallography. This trend is explained in terms of Ramsey’s theory on paramagnetic shielding. Overall, this work demonstrates how careful NMR studies of underexploited exotic nuclides, such as 79/81Br, can afford insights into structure and bonding environments in the solid state. 相似文献
