For certain classes 𝒞 of R-modules, including singular modules or modules with locally Krull dimensions, it is investigated when every module in 𝒞 with a finitely generated essential submodule is finitely generated. In case 𝒞 = Mod-R, this means E(M)/M is Noetherian for any finitely generated module MR. Rings R with latter property are studied and shown that they form a class 𝒬 properly between the class of pure semisimple rings and the class of certain max rings. Duo rings in 𝒬 are precisely Artinian rings. If R is a quasi continuous ring in 𝒬 then R ? A ⊕ T where A is a semisimple Artinian ring and T ∈ 𝒬 with Z(TT) ≤ess TT.  相似文献

Let k be an algebraically closed field, B be a finite dimensional k-algebra and A be the one-point extension of B by the projective B-module P 0. We compare the posets 𝒯 A and 𝒯 B of tilting A-modules and B-modules, respectively. We prove that the restriction and the extension functors define morphisms of posets r: 𝒯 A  → 𝒯 B and e: 𝒯 B  → 𝒯 A such that re = id. Moreover, e induces a full embedding of the quiver of 𝒯 B into that of 𝒯 A , whose image is closed under successors, and mapping distinct connected components of the first into distinct connected components of the second.  相似文献

Let (R, 𝔪) be a commutative, noetherian, local ring, E the injective hull of the residue field R/𝔪, and M ○○ = Hom R (Hom R (M, E), E) the bidual of an R-module M. We investigate the elements of Ass(M ○○) as well as those of Coatt(M) = {𝔭 ∈ Spec(R)|𝔭 = Ann R (Ann M (𝔭))} and provide criteria for equality in one of the two inclusions Ass(M) ? Ass(M ○○) ? Coatt(M). If R is a Nagata ring and M a minimax module, i.e., an extension of a finitely generated R-module by an artinian R-module, we show that Ass(M ○○) = Ass(M) ∪ {𝔭 ∈ Coatt(M)| R/𝔭 is incomplete}.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Let X = Spec(R) be a reduced equidimensional algebraic variety over an algebraically closed field k. Let Y = Spec(R/𝔮) be a codimension one ordinary multiple subvariety, where 𝔮 is a prime ideal of height 1 of R. If U is a nonempty open subset of Y and 𝔪 a closed point of U, we denote by A ? R 𝔪 its local ring in X, by 𝔭 the extension of 𝔮 in A, and by K the algebraic closure of the residue field k(𝔭).

Then there exists a bijection γ𝔪:Proj(G 𝔭(A) ?  A/𝔭 k) → Proj(G(A 𝔭) ?  k(𝔭)K) such that for every subset Σ of Proj(G 𝔭(A) ?  A/𝔭 k), the Hilbert function of Σ coincides with the Hilbert function of γ𝔪(Σ). We examine some applications. We study the structure of the tangent cone at a closed point of a codimension one ordinary multiple subvariety.  相似文献

Abstract

Given a contravariant functor F : 𝒞 → 𝒮ets for some category 𝒞, we say that F (𝒞) (or F) is generated by a pair (X, x) where X is an object of 𝒞 and x ∈ F(X) if for any object Y of 𝒞 and any y ∈ F(Y), there is a morphism f : Y → X such that F(f)(x) = y. Furthermore, when Y = X and y = x, any f : X → X such that F(f)(x) = x is an automorphism of X, we say that F is minimally generated by (X, x). This paper shows that if the ring R is left noetherian, then there exists a minimal generator for the functor ?xt (?, M) : ? → 𝒮ets, where M is a left R-module and ? is the class (considered as full subcategory of left R-modules) of injective left R-modules.  相似文献

Generalizing the notion of Galois corings, Galois comodules were introduced as comodules P over an A-coring 𝒞 for which P A is finitely generated and projective and the evaluation map μ𝒞:Hom 𝒞 (P, 𝒞) ?  S P → 𝒞 is an isomorphism (of corings) where S = End 𝒞 (P). It has been observed that for such comodules the functors ? ?  A 𝒞 and Hom A (P, ?) ?  S P from the category of right A-modules to the category of right 𝒞-comodules are isomorphic. In this note we use this isomorphism related to a comodule P to define Galois comodules without requiring P A to be finitely generated and projective. This generalises the old notion with this name but we show that essential properties and relationships are maintained. Galois comodules are close to being generators and have common properties with tilting (co)modules. Some of our results also apply to generalised Hopf Galois (coalgebra Galois) extensions.  相似文献

This paper investigates the structure of cyclically pure (or C-pure) projective modules. In particular, it is shown that a ring R is left Noetherian if and only if every C-pure projective left R-module is pure projective. Also, over a left hereditary Noetherian ring R, a left R-module M is C-pure projective if and only if M = NP, where N is a direct sum of cyclic modules and P is a projective left R-module. The relationship C-purity with purity and RD-purity are also studied. It is shown that if R is a local duo-ring, then the C-pure projective left R-modules and the pure projective left R-modules coincide if and only if R is a principal ideal ring. If R is a left perfect duo-ring, then the C-pure projective left R-modules and the pure projective left R-modules coincide if and only if R is left Köthe (i.e., every left R-module is a direct sum of cyclic modules). Also, it is shown that for a ring R, if every C-pure projective left R-module is RD-projective, then R is left Noetherian, every p-injective left R-module is injective and every p-flat right R-module is flat. Finally, it is shown that if R is a left p.p-ring and every C-pure projective left R-module is RD-projective, then R is left Noetherian hereditary. The converse is also true when R is commutative, but it does not hold in the noncommutative case.  相似文献

Abstract

Let 𝒪 be a discrete valuation ring whose residue field 𝒪/𝔭 is finite and has odd characteristic. Let l be a positive integer. Set R = 𝒪/𝔭 l and let R = R[θ] be the ring obtained by adjoining to R a square root of a non-square unit. Consider the involution σ of R that fixes R elementwise and sends θ to ? θ. Let V be a free R-module of rank n > 0 endowed with a non-degenerate hermitian form ( , ) relative to σ. Let U n (R) be the subgroup of GL(V) that preserves ( , ). Let SU n (R) be the subgroup of all g ∈ U n (R) whose determinant is equal to one. Let Ψ be the Weil character of U n (R).

All irreducible constituents of Ψ are determined. An explicit character formula is given for each of them. In particular, all character degrees are computed. For n > 2 the corresponding results are also obtained for the restriction of Ψ to SU n (R).  相似文献

Let R be a ring and 𝒲 a self-orthogonal class of left R-modules which is closed under finite direct sums and direct summands. A complex C of left R-modules is called a 𝒲-complex if it is exact with each cycle Z n (C) ∈ 𝒲. The class of such complexes is denoted by 𝒞𝒲. A complex C is called completely 𝒲-resolved if there exists an exact sequence of complexes D · = … → D ?1 → D 0 → D 1 → … with each term D i in 𝒞𝒲 such that C = ker(D 0 → D 1) and D · is both Hom(𝒞𝒲, ?) and Hom(?, 𝒞𝒲) exact. In this article, we show that C = … → C ?1 → C 0 → C 1 → … is a completely 𝒲-resolved complex if and only if C n is a completely 𝒲-resolved module for all n ∈ ?. Some known results are obtained as corollaries.  相似文献

Let R be a commutative ring with unit, and let E be an R-module. We say the functor of R-modules E, defined by E(B) = E ? R B, is a quasi-coherent R-module, and its dual E* is an R-module scheme. Both types of R-module functors are essential for the development of the theory of the linear representations of an affine R-group. We prove that a quasi-coherent R-module E is an R-module scheme if and only if E is a projective R-module of finite type, and, as a consequence, we also characterize finitely generated projective R-modules.  相似文献

A ring R is called left P-coherent in case each principal left ideal of R is finitely presented. A left R-module M (resp. right R-module N) is called D-injective (resp. D-flat) if Ext1(G, M) = 0 (resp. Tor1(N, G) = 0) for every divisible left R-module G. It is shown that every left R-module over a left P-coherent ring R has a divisible cover; a left R-module M is D-injective if and only if M is the kernel of a divisible precover A → B with A injective; a finitely presented right R-module L over a left P-coherent ring R is D-flat if and only if L is the cokernel of a torsionfree preenvelope K → F with F flat. We also study the divisible and torsionfree dimensions of modules and rings. As applications, some new characterizations of von Neumann regular rings and PP rings are given.  相似文献

Let R be a ring, (S, ≤) a strictly ordered monoid and ω: S → End(R) a monoid homomorphism. The skew generalized power series ring R[[S, ω]] is a common generalization of (skew) polynomial rings, (skew) power series rings, (skew) Laurent polynomial rings, (skew) group rings, and Mal'cev–Neumann Laurent series rings. In this article, we study relations between the (quasi-) Baer, principally quasi-Baer and principally projective properties of a ring R, and its skew generalized power series extension R[[S, ω]]. As particular cases of our general results, we obtain new theorems on (skew) group rings, Mal'cev–Neumann Laurent series rings, and the ring of generalized power series.  相似文献

Let R be a right perfect ring, and let (?, 𝒞) be a cotorsion theory in the category of right R-modules ? R . In this article, it is shown that every right R-module has a superfluous ?-cover if and only if there exists a torsion theory (𝒜, ?) such that (?, 𝒞) is cogenerated by ?. It is also proved that if (𝒜, ?) is a cosplitting torsion theory, then (?, (?)) is a hereditary and complete cotorsion theory, and if (𝒜, ?) is a centrally splitting torsion theory, then (?, (?)) is a hereditary and perfect cotorsion theory.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The study of modules over a finite von Neumann algebra 𝒜 can be advanced by the use of torsion theories. In this work, some torsion theories for 𝒜 are presented, compared, and studied. In particular, we prove that the torsion theory (T, P) (in which a module is torsion if it is zero-dimensional) is equal to both Lambek and Goldie torsion theories for 𝒜.

Using torsion theories, we describe the injective envelope of a finitely generated projective 𝒜-module and the inverse of the isomorphism K 0(𝒜) → K 0 (𝒰), where 𝒰 is the algebra of affiliated operators of 𝒜. Then the formula for computing the capacity of a finitely generated module is obtained. Lastly, we study the behavior of the torsion and torsion-free classes when passing from a subalgebra ? of a finite von Neumann algebra 𝒜 to 𝒜. With these results, we prove that the capacity is invariant under the induction of a ?-module.  相似文献

Let M R be a right R-module over a ring R with S = End(M R ). We study the coherence of the left S-module S M relative to a hereditary torsion theory for the category of right R-modules. Various results are developed, many extending known results.  相似文献

By a theorem due to Kato and Ohtake, any (not necessarily strict) Morita context induces an equivalence between appropriate subcategories of the module categories of the two rings in the Morita context. These are in fact categories of firm modules for non-unital subrings. We apply this result to various Morita contexts associated to a comodule Σ of an A-coring 𝒞. This allows to extend (weak and strong) structure theorems in the literature, in particular beyond the cases when any of the coring 𝒞 or the comodule Σ is finitely generated and projective as an A-module. That is, we obtain relations between the category of 𝒞-comodules and the category of firm modules for a firm ring R, which is an ideal of the endomorphism algebra End 𝒞(Σ). For a firmly projective comodule of a coseparable coring we prove a strong structure theorem assuming only surjectivity of the canonical map.  相似文献

For any ring R, the set 𝒩(R) of all natural classes of R-modules is a complete Boolean lattice, which is a direct sum of two convex and complete Boolean sublattices 𝒩(R) = 𝒩 t (R) ⊕ 𝒩 f (R), where the last summand is the set of all nonsingular natural classes. The ring R contains a unique lattice of ideals 𝒥(R) which is lattice isomorphic to 𝒩 f (R). The present note develops the analogue of all of the above for an arbitrary R-module M, so that in the special case when M R  = R R , the known lattice isomorphism 𝒥(R) ? 𝒩 f (R) is recovered.  相似文献

Let R be any ring. A right R-module M is called n-copure projective if Ext1(M, N) = 0 for any right R-module N with fd(N) ≤ n, and M is said to be strongly copure projective if Ext i (M, F) = 0 for all flat right R-modules F and all i ≥ 1. In this article, firstly, we present some general properties of n-copure projective modules and strongly copure projective modules. Then we define and investigate copure projective dimensions of modules and rings. Finally, more properties and applications of n-copure projective modules, strongly copure projective modules and copure projective dimensions are given over coherent rings with finite self-FP-injective dimension.  相似文献

Abstract

We define the lower socle of a semiprime algebra 𝒜 as the sum of all minimal left ideals 𝒜e where e is a minimal idempotent such that the division algebra e𝒜e is finite dimensional. We study the connection between the condition that the elements a k , b k , 1 ≤ k ≤ n, lie in the lower socle of 𝒜 and the condition that the elementary operator x ? a 1 xb 1 + ? + a n xb n has finite rank. As an application we obtain some results on derivations certain of whose powers have finite rank.  相似文献
