An analysis is presented for the primary resonance of a clamped-hinged beam, which occurs when the frequency of excitation is near one of the natural frequencies,n . Three mode interaction (2 31 and 3 1 + 22) is considered and its influence on the response is studied. The case of two mode interaction (2 31) is also considered to compare it with the case of three mode interaction. The straight beam experiencing mid-plane stretching is governed by a nonlinear partial differential equation. By using Galerkin's method the governing equation is reduced to a system of nonautonomous ordinary differential equations. The method of multiple scales is applied to solve the system. Steady-state responses and their stability are examined. Results of numerical investigations show that there exists no significant difference between both modal interactions' influences on the responses.  相似文献

In this paper we study differential equations of the formx(t) + x(t)=f(x(t)), x(0)=x 0 C HereC is a closed, bounded convex subset of a Banach spaceX,f(C) C, and it is often assumed thatf(x) is a quadratic map. We study the differential equation by using the general theory of nonexpansive maps and nonexpansive, non-linear semigroups, and we obtain sharp results in a number of cases of interest. We give a formula for the Lipschitz constant off: C C, and we derive a precise explicit formula for the Lipschitz constant whenf is quadratic,C is the unit simplex inR n, and thel 1 norm is used. We give a new proof of a theorem about nonexpansive semigroups; and we show that if the Lipschitz constant off: CC is less than or equal to one, then limtf(x(t))–x(t)=0 and, if {x(t):t 0} is precompact, then limtx(t) exists. Iff¦C=L¦C, whereL is a bounded linear operator, we apply the nonlinear theory to prove that (under mild further conditions on C) limt f(x(t))–x(t)=0 and that limt x(t) exists if {x(t):t 0} is precompact. However, forn 3 we give examples of quadratic mapsf of the unit simplex ofR n into itself such that limt x(t) fails to exist for mostx 0 C andx(t) may be periodic. Our theorems answer several questions recently raised by J. Herod in connection with so-called model Boltzmann equations.  相似文献

This paper presents some test and analysis results for a spot welded joint subjected to tensile and alternate load. The effect of sheet rigidity on the tensile strength and fatigue life of the spot welded joint is studied by using the stress intensity factorsK I,K II,K III and an effective stress intensity factor Kmax calculated by the finite element method for crack around the nugget. The results show that the effective stress intensity factor Kmax is an essential parameter for estimating the fatigue life of the spot welded joint.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the asymptotic behavior of solutions of the quasilinear equation of filtration as t. We prove that similar solutions of the equation u t = (u )xx asymptotically represent solutions of the Cauchy problem for the full equation u t = [(u)]xx if (u) is close to u for small u.  相似文献

A number of authors have critically examined semiempirical mixing length theories [1]. A defect of these theories is connected with the fact that the magnitude of the mixing length, which is assumed to be small in constructing the theory, turns out in experiments to be comparable with the characteristic dimensions of the flow region. Thus, the concept of volume convection [2–4] or integral diffusion [5], which is understood to be a transfer mechanism in which the friction stress is not expressed in terms of the velocity gradient, is introduced along with the concept of gradient diffusion. In addition, there are a number of experimental papers [6] in which it is shown that the turbulent friction stress cannot be equal to zero at the place in the flow where the derivative of the velocity is equal to zero. Mixing length theory does not describe this effect. It is possible to generalize mixing length theory [7–9] in a way which eliminates these defects. Flow of an incompressible fluid is considered.  相似文献

Transient non-Darcy free convection between two parallel vertical plates in a fluid saturated porous medium is investigated using the generalized momentum equation proposed by Vafai and Tien. The effects of porous inertia and solid boundary are considered in addition to the Darcy flow resistance. Exact solutions are found for the asymptotic states at small and large times. The large time solutions reveal that the velocity profiles are rather sensitive to the Darcy number Da when Da<1. It has also been found that boundary friction alters the velocity distribution near the wall, considerably. Finite difference calculations have also been carried out to investigate the transient behaviour at the intermediate times in which no similarity solutions are possible. This analytical and numerical study reveals that the transient free convection between the parallel plates may well be described by matching the two distinct asymptotic solutions obtained at small and large times.Nomenclature C empirical constant for the Forchheimer term - f velocity function for the small time solution - F velocity function for the large time solution - g acceleration due to gravity - Gr* micro-scale Grashof number - H a half distance between two infinite plates - K permeability - Nu Nusselt number - Pr Prandtl number - t time - T temperature - u, v Darcian velocity components - x, y Cartesian coordinates - effective thermal diffusivity - coefficient of thermal expansion - porosity - dimensionless time - similarity variable - dimensionless temperature - viscosity - kinematic viscosity - density - the ratio of heat capacities  相似文献

Steady-shear and dynamic properties of a pooled sample of cattle synovial fluid have been measured using techniques developed for low viscosity fluids. The rheological properties of synovial fluid were found to exhibit typical viscoelastic behaviour and can be described by the Carreau type A rheological model. Typical model parameters for the fluid are given; these may be useful for the analysis of the complex flow problems of joint lubrication. The two major constituents, hyaluronic acid and proteins, have been successfully separated from the pooled sample of synovial fluid. The rheological properties of the hyaluronic acid and the recombined hyaluronic acid-protein solutions of both equal and half the concentration of the constituents found in the original synovial fluid have been measured. These properties, when compared to those of the original synovial fluid, show an undeniable contribution of proteins to the flow behaviour of synovial fluid in joints. The effect of protein was found to be more prominent in hyaluronic acid of half the normal concentration found in synovial fluid, thus providing a possible explanation for the differences in flow behaviour observed between synovial fluid from certain diseased joints compared to normal joint fluid.Nomenclature A Ratio of angular amplitude of torsion head to oscillation input signal - G Storage modulus - G Loss modulus - I Moment of inertia of upper platen — torsion head assembly - K Restoring constant of torsion bar - N 1 First normal-stress difference - R Platen radius - S (i) Geometric factor in the dynamic property analysis - t 1 Characteristic time parameter of the Carreau model - X, Y Carreau model parameters - Z () Reimann Zeta function of - Carreau model parameter - Shear rate - Apparent steady-shear viscosity - * Complex dynamic viscosity - Dynamic viscosity - Imaginary part of the complex dynamic viscosity - 0 Zero-shear viscosity - 0 Cone angle - Carreau model characteristic time - Density of fluid - Shear stress - Phase difference between torsion head and oscillation input signals - 0 Zero-shear rate first normal-stress coefficient - Oscillatory frequency  相似文献

This paper presents a physics-oriented approach to approximate the continuum equations governing porous media flow by discrete analogs. To that end, the continuity equation and Darcys law are reformulated using exterior differential forms. This way the derivation of a system of algebraic equations (the discrete analog) on a finite-volume mesh can be accomplished by simple and elegant translation rules. In the discrete analog the information about the conductivities of the porous medium and the metric of the mesh are represented in one matrix: the discrete dual. The discrete dual of the block-centered finite difference method is presented first. Since this method has limited applicability with respect to anisotropy and non-rectangular grid blocks, the finite element dual is introduced as an alternative. Application of a domain decomposition technique yields the face-centered finite element method. Since calculations based on pressures in volume centers are sometimes preferable, a volume-centered approximation of the face-centered approximation is presented too.  相似文献

We study the modelling of purely conductive heat transfer between a porous medium and an external fluid within the framework of the volume averaging method. When the temperature field for such a system is classically determined by coupling the macroscopic heat conduction equation in the porous medium domain to the heat conduction equation in the external fluid domain, it is shown that the phase average temperature cannot be predicted without a generally negligible error due to the fact that the boundary conditions at the interface between the two media are specified at the macroscopic level.Afterwards, it is presented an alternative modelling by means of a single equation involving an effective thermal conductivity which is a function of point inside the interfacial region. The theoretical results are illustrated by means of some numerical simulations for a model porous medium. In particular, temperature fields at the microscopic level are presented.Roman Letters sf interfacial area of thes-f interface contained within the macroscopic system m2 - A sf interfacial area of thes-f interface contained within the averaging volume m2 - C p mass fraction weighted heat capacity, kcal/kg/K - g vector that maps to s , m - h vector that maps to f , m - K eff effective thermal conductivity tensor, kcal/m s K - l s,l f microscopic characteristic length m - L macroscopic characteristic length, m - n fs outwardly directed unit normal vector for thef-phase at thef-s interface - n outwardly directed unit normal vector at the dividing surface. - R 0 REV characteristic length, m - T i macroscopic temperature at the interface, K - error on the external fluid temperature due to the macroscopic boundary condition, K - T * macroscopic temperature field obtained by solving the macroscopic Equation (3), K - V averaging volume, m3 - V s,V f volume of the considered phase within the averaging volume, m3. - mp volume of the porous medium domain, m3 - ex volume of the external fluid domain, m3 - s , f volume of the considered phase within the volume of the macroscopic system, m3 - dividing surface, m2 - x, z spatial coordinates Greek Letters s, f volume fraction - ratio of the effective thermal conductivity to the external fluid thermal conductivity - * macroscopic thermal conductivity (single equation model) kcal/m s K - s, f microscopic thermal conductivities, kcal/m s K - spatial average density, kg/m3 - microscopic temperature, K - * microscopic temperature corresponding toT *, K - spatial deviation temperature K - error in the temperature due to the macroscopic boundary conditions, K - * i macroscopic temperature at the interface given by the single equation model, K - spatial average - s , f intrinsic phase average.  相似文献

We prove that the iterates of certain periodic nonexpansive operators in l1 uniformly converge to zero in l norm. As a by-product we show that, for any solution x(t) of the equation x(t)= –sign(x(t-1))f(x()), t0, x|[–1,0]C[–1,0] where f:(–1, 1) is locally Lipschitz, the number of zeros of x(t) on any unit interval becomes finite after a period of time, with the single exception of the case f(0)=0 and x(t)0.  相似文献

The problem of classification of ordinary differential equations of the form y = f(x,y) by admissible local Lie groups of transformations is solved. Standard equations are listed on the basis of the equivalence concept. The classes of equations admitting a oneparameter group and obtained from the standard equations by invariant extension are described.  相似文献

Summary The cooling of a hot fluid in laminar Newtonian flow through cooled elliptic tubes has been calculated theoretically. Numerical data have been computed for the two values 1.25 and 4 of the axial ratio of the elliptic cross-section . For =1.25 the influence of non-zero thermal resistance between outmost fluid layer and isothermal surroundings has also been investigated. Special attention has been given to the distribution of heat flux around the perimeter; when increases the flux varies more with the position at the circumference. This positional dependence becomes less pronounced, however, as the (position-independent) thermal resistance of the wall increases.Flattening of the conduit, while maintaining its cross-sectional area constant, improves the cooling. Comparison with rectangular pipes shows that this improvement is not as marked with elliptic as with rectangular pipes.Nomenclature A k =A m, n coefficients of expansion (6) - a, b half-axes of ellipse, b<a - a p =a r, s coefficients of representation (V) - D hydraulic diameter, = 4S/P; S = cross-sectional area, P = perimeter - D e equivalent diameter, according to (13) - n coordinate (outward) normal to the tube wall - T temperature of fluid - T i temperature of fluid at the inlet - T s temperature of surroundings - v 0 mean velocity of fluid - v z longitudinal velocity of fluid - x, y carthesian coordinates coinciding with axes of ellipse - z coordinate in flow direction - , dimensionless half-axes of ellipse, =a/D and =b/D - t heat transfer coefficient from fluid at bulk temperature to surroundings; equation (11) - w heat transfer coefficient at the wall; equation (3) - axial ratio of ellipse, = a/b = / - , , , dimensionless coordinates; =x/D, =y/D, =z/D, =n/D - dimensionless temperature, = (T–T s)/(T iT s) - 0 cup-mixing mean value of ; equation (10) - thermal conductivity of fluid - m,n = k eigenvalue - c volumetric heat capacity of fluid - m, n = k = k eigenfunction; equations (6) and (I) - Nu total Nusselt number, = t D/ - Nusselt number at large distance from the inlet - Nu w wall Nusselt number, = w D/, based on w - Pé Péclet number, = 0 Dc/  相似文献

A low Reynolds number - model has been used to calculate the turbulent boundary layer over riblets. Calculated mean velocity, Reynolds shear stress and kinetic energy distributions are generally in good agreement with available experimental data. The comparison between these distributions and those in a corner flow points to a significant difference between the two flows and the unlikelihood of counter-rotating vortices within the riblet grooves. One shortcoming of the present - model is the relatively slow return to a two-dimensional turbulence state as the distance from the riblet surface increases.  相似文献

Shearing stresses in shafts with deep longitudinal grooves
Summary The stress functions(, y) of shafts with deep longitudinal grooves may be represented by(, y) =F(x, y) –(, y) whereF(x, y) is the stress function of a cylindrical shaft without grooves and(, y) denotes the potential function of the source-sink system. It is shown that the shearing stresses in rotors of screw-compressors may be obtained in this way.

A numerical solution is obtained for the problem of air flow past a sphere under conditions when nonequilibrium excitation of the vibrational degrees of freedom of the molecular components takes place in the shock layer. The problem is solved using the method of [1]. In calculating the relaxation rates account was taken of two processes: 1) transition of the molecular translational energy into vibrational energy during collision; 2) exchange of vibrational energy between the air components. Expressions for the relaxation rates were computed in [2]. The solution indicates that in the state far from equilibrium a relaxation layer is formed near the sphere surface. A comparison is made of the calculated values of the shock standoff with the experimental data of [3].Notation uVmax, vVmax velocity components normal and tangential to the sphere surface - Vmax maximal velocity - P V max 2 pressure - density - TT temperature - eviRT vibrational energy of the i-th component per mole (i=–O2, N2) - =rb–1 shock wave shape - a f the frozen speed of sound - HRT/m gas total enthalpy

The question of determining the law of damping for the turbulent diffusion coefficient at a smooth wall according to data on mass and heat transfer for Pr 1 is discussed. It is proved that the hypothesis that this law is determined by the first member of the Taylor series expansion of , namely, / = yn + is valid in the Pr range from 103 to 105 only under the assumption that the subsequent terms in the expansion have smaller coefficients. A statistical analysis of electrochemical and other experiments devoted to this problem shows that apparently n = 3, but singularities in the experimental results do not permit making a final conclusion. Requirements on a conclusive experiment are formulated on the basis of the analysis made.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 2, pp. 172–175, March–April, 1977.  相似文献
