This generalizes earlier results (T. I. Seidman, Indiana Univ. Math. J.30 (1981), 305–311) for ?Δu = λf(u). For the family of equations (su1) Au = g(u, λ) with appropriate boundary conditions the object is to construct from g and the boundary conditions a function η(λ, r) such that a bound y(λ) on ∥u can be obtained by solving the ODE: y′(λ) = η(λ, y) with y(λ0) = B(λ0) = bound at λ = λ0.  相似文献

Some parallel results of Gross' paper (Potential theory on Hilbert space, J. Functional Analysis1 (1967), 123–181) are obtained for Uhlenbeck-Ornstein process U(t) in an abstract Wiener space (H, B, i). Generalized number operator N is defined by Nf(x) = ?lim∈←0{E[f(Uξ))] ? f(x)}/Eξ, where τx? is the first exit time of U(t) starting at x from the ball of radius ? with center x. It is shown that Nf(x) = ?trace D2f(x)+〈Df(x),x〉 for a large class of functions f. Let rt(x, dy) be the transition probabilities of U(t). The λ-potential Gλf, λ > 0, and normalized potential Rf of f are defined by Gλf(X) = ∫0e?λtrtf(x) dt and Rf(x) = ∫0 [rtf(x) ? rtf(0)] dt. It is shown that if f is a bounded Lip-1 function then trace D2Gλf(x) ? 〈DGλf(x), x〉 = ?f(x) + λGλf(x) and trace D2Rf(x) ? 〈DRf(x), x〉 = ?f(x) + ∫Bf(y)p1(dy), where p1 is the Wiener measure in B with parameter 1. Some approximation theorems are also proved.  相似文献

For every λ in a complex domain G, consider on some interval I the initial value problem y′(λ,x) = A(λ,x)y(λ,x) + b(λ,x), y(λ,x0) - y0. If this problem satisfies the Carathéodory conditions for every A, then there exist locally absolutely continuous and almost everywhere differentiable solutions y(λ,· ) of the initial value problem. In general, the union N of the exceptional sets N λ ? I where y(λ, ·) is not differentiate or does not fulfill the differential equation, is not of Lebesgue measure zero. It will be shown that N is of Lebesgue measure zero provided that A and b are holomorphic with respect to λ and their integrals with respect to x are locally bounded on G × I.  相似文献

The least eigenvalue of the 0-1 adjacency matrix of a graph is denoted λ G. In this paper all graphs with λ(G) greater than ?2 are characterized. Such a graph is a generalized line graph of the form L(T;1,0,…,0), L(T), L(H), where T is a tree and H is unicyclic with an odd cycle, or is one of 573 graphs that arise from the root system E8. If G is regular with λ(G)>?2, then Gis a clique or an odd circuit. These characterizations are used for embedding problems; λR(H) = sup{λ(G)z.sfnc;HinG; Gregular}. H is an odd circuit, a path, or a complete graph iff λR(H)> ?2. For any other line graph H, λR(H) = ?2. A similar result holds for complete multipartite graphs.  相似文献

We establish lower and upper bounds for the Bessel functionJ v (x) and the modified Bessel functionI v(x) of the first kind. Our chief tool is the differential equation satisfied by these functions.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to show that the quantum inverse scattering method for the so-called q-boson model has a nice interpretation in terms of the algebra of symmetric functions. In particular, in the case of the phase model (corresponding to q = 0) the creation operator coincides (modulo a scalar factor) with the operator of multiplication by the generating function of complete homogeneous symmetric functions, and the wave functions are expressed via the Schur functions sλ(x). The general case of the q-boson model is related in a similar way to the Hall-Littlewood symmetric functions Pλ(x;q2).  相似文献

In this paper a system of differential equations y′ ? A(·,λ)y = 0 is considered on the finite interval [a,b] where λ ∈ C, A(·, λ):= λ A1+ A 0?1A?1(·,λ) and A 1,A 0, A ? 1 are n × n matrix-functions. The main assumptions: A 1 is absolutely continuous on the interval [a, b], A 0 and A - 1(·,λ) are summable on the same interval when ¦λ¦ is sufficiently large; the roots φ1(x),…,φn (x) of the characteristic equation det (φ E — A 1) = 0 are different for all x ∈ [a,b] and do not vanish; there exists some unlimited set Ω ? C on which the inequalities Re(λφ1(x)) ≤ … ≤ Re (λφn(x)) are fulfilled for all x ∈ [a,b] and for some numeration of the functions φj(x). The asymptotic formula of the exponential type for a fundamental matrix of solutions of the system is obtained for sufficiently large ¦λ¦. The remainder term of this formula has a new type dependence on properties of the coefficients A 1 (x), A o (x) and A - 1 (x).  相似文献

The quantum mechanics of n particles interacting through analytic two-body interactions can be formulated as a problem of functional analysis on a Hilbert space G consisting of analytic functions. On G, there is an Hamiltonian H with resolvent R(λ). These quantities are associated with families of operators H(?) and R(λ, ?) on L, the case ? = 0 corresponding to standard quantum mechanics. The spectrum of H(?) consists of possible isolated points, plus a number of half-lines starting at the thresholds of scattering channels and making an angle 2? with the real axis.Assuming that the two-body interactions are in the Schmidt class on the two-particle space G, this paper studies the resolvent R(λ, ?) in the case ? ≠ 0. It is shown that a well known Fredholm equation for R(λ, ?) can be solved by the Neumann series whenever ¦λ¦ is sufficiently large and λ is not on a singular half-line. Owing to this, R(λ, ?) can be integrated around the various half-lines to yield bounded idempotent operators Pp(?) (p = 1, 2,…) on L. The range of Pp(?) is an invariant subspace of H(?). As ? varies, the family of operators Pp(?) generates a bounded idempotent operator Pp on a space G. The range of this is an invariant subspace of H. The relevance of this result to the problem of asymptotic completeness is indicated.  相似文献

For parameters η, let {B(η)} denote infinitesimal operators of strongly continuous semigroups, with resolvents R(λ; B(η)) satisfying λR(λ; B(η)) = P(η) + λV(η) + o(λ). For parameters α, let {A(α)} denote possibly unbounded, linear operators for which {A(α) + B(η)} are infinitesimal operators of strongly continuous semigroups {Uα·η(t)}. For α, η converging simultaneously, we show strong convergence of the semigroups Uα·η(t) to a strongly continuous semigroup U(t), with limiting infinitesimal operator characterized by limα·ηjP(η) A(α) × (V(η) A(α))if. We give applications of the abstract perturbation theorems to limit theorems of random evolutions and associated abstract Cauchy problems, in which multiscaling occurs in the convergence.  相似文献

The product graph Gm*Gp of two given graphs Gm and Gp was defined by Bermond et al. [Large graphs with given degree and diameter II, J. Combin. Theory Ser. B 36 (1984) 32-48]. For this kind of graphs we provide bounds for two connectivity parameters (λ and λ, edge-connectivity and restricted edge-connectivity, respectively), and state sufficient conditions to guarantee optimal values of these parameters. Moreover, we compare our results with other previous related ones for permutation graphs and cartesian product graphs, obtaining several extensions and improvements. In this regard, for any two connected graphs Gm, Gp of minimum degrees δ(Gm), δ(Gp), respectively, we show that λ(Gm*Gp) is lower bounded by both δ(Gm)+λ(Gp) and δ(Gp)+λ(Gm), an improvement of what is known for the edge-connectivity of Gm×Gp.  相似文献

Hecke proved analytically that when λ ≥ 2 or when λ = 2 cos(πq), qZ, q ≥ 3, then B(λ) = {τ: Im τ > 0, |Reτ| < λ2, |τ| > 1} is a fundamental region for the group G(λ) = 〈Sλ, T〉, where Sλ: ττ + λ and T: τ → ?1τ. He also showed that B(λ) fails to be a fundamental region for all other λ > 0 by proving that G(λ) is not discontinuous. We give an elementary proof of these facts and prove a related result concerning the distribution of G(λ)-equivalent points.  相似文献

Let A(G) be the adjacency matrix of G. The characteristic polynomial of the adjacency matrix A is called the characteristic polynomial of the graph G and is denoted by φ(G, λ) or simply φ(G). The spectrum of G consists of the roots (together with their multiplicities) λ 1(G) ? λ 2(G) ? … ? λ n (G) of the equation φ(G, λ) = 0. The largest root λ 1(G) is referred to as the spectral radius of G. A ?-shape is a tree with exactly two of its vertices having maximal degree 4. We will denote by G(l 1, l 2, … l 7) (l 1 ? 0, l i ? 1, i = 2, 3, …, 7) a ?-shape tree such that $G\left( {l_1 ,l_2 , \ldots l_7 } \right) - u - v = P_{l_1 } \cup P_{l_2 } \cup \ldots P_{l_7 }$ , where u and v are the vertices of degree 4. In this paper we prove that ${{3\sqrt 2 } \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{3\sqrt 2 } 2}} \right. \kern-0em} 2} < \lambda _1 \left( {G\left( {l_1 ,l_2 , \ldots l_7 } \right)} \right) < {5 \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {5 2}} \right. \kern-0em} 2}$ .  相似文献

The n-body problem is formulated as a problem of functional analysis on a Hilbert space G whose elements are analytic functions of complex dynamical variables. It is assumed that the two-body interaction is local and spherically symmetric, and belongs to the two-particle space G. The n-body resolvent R(λ) is constructed with the help of Fredholm methods. The operator R(λ) on G is associated with a family of operators R(λ, ?) on L2 which are resolvents of closed linear operators H(?), the case ? = 0 corresponding to standard quantum mechanics. The spectrum of H(?) contains a set of parallel half-lines starting at the thresholds of scattering channels and making an angle 2? with the positive real axis. The half-lines are branch cuts of R(λ, ?), but matrix elements of R(λ, ?) can be continued analytically across these. The operator R(λ, ?) may have isolated poles. The location of these does not depend on ?. Each pole is associated with one or more eigenvectors of H(?) belonging to spaces G. There may be poles off the real axis, the location of a pole determining for which values of ? it is on the physical sheet of H(?). It is shown how poles off the real axis give rise to resonances in the scattering cross section, the shape of a resonance being as one would expect on the basis of a model in which the scattering takes place via a decaying compound state having an eigenvector of H(?) with complex energy as its wave function.  相似文献

We prove the path sum formula for computing the U(n) invariant denominator functions associated to stretched U(n) Wigner operators. A family of U(n) invariant polynomials G[λ](n) is then defined which generalize the μGq(n) polynomials previously studied. The G[λ](n) polynomials are shown to satisfy a number of difference equations and have symmetry properties similar to the μGq(n) polynomials. We also give a direct proof of the important transposition symmetry for the G[λ](n) polynomials. To enable the non-specialist to understand the foundations for these remarkable polynomials, we provide an exposition of the boson calculus and the construction of the multiplicity-free U(n) Wigner operators.  相似文献

For a connected graph G=(V,E), an edge set SE is a 3-restricted edge cut if GS is disconnected and every component of GS has order at least three. The cardinality of a minimum 3-restricted edge cut of G is the 3-restricted edge connectivity of G, denoted by λ3(G). A graph G is called minimally 3-restricted edge connected if λ3(Ge)<λ3(G) for each edge eE. A graph G is λ3-optimal if λ3(G)=ξ3(G), where , ω(U) is the number of edges between U and V?U, and G[U] is the subgraph of G induced by vertex set U. We show in this paper that a minimally 3-restricted edge connected graph is always λ3-optimal except the 3-cube.  相似文献

Let λ K v be the complete multigraph, G a finite simple graph. A G-design of λ K v is denoted by GD(v,G,λ). The crown graph Q n is obtained by joining single pendant edge to each vertex of an n-cycle. We give new constructions for Q n -designs. Let v and λ be two positive integers. For n=4, 6, 8 and λ≥1, there exists a GD(v,Q n ,λ) if and only if either (1) v>2n and λ v(v?1)≡0 (mod 4n), or (2) v=2n and λ≡0 (mod 4). Let n≥4 be even. Then (1) there exists a GD(2n,Q n ,λ) if and only if λ≡0 (mod 4). (2) There exists a GD(2n+1,Q n ,λ) when λ≡0 (mod 4).  相似文献

Let X(ω) be a random element taking values in a linear space X endowed with the partial order ≤; let G0 be the class of nonnegative order-preserving functions on X such that, for each g∈G0, E[g(X)] is defined; and let G1?G0 be the subclass of concave functions. A version of Markov's inequality for such spaces in P(X ≥ x) ≤ infG0E[g(X)]/g(x). Moreover, if E(X) = ξ is defined and if Jensen's inequality applies, we have a further inequality P(X≥x) ≤ infG1E[g(X)]/g(x) ≤ infG1g(ξ)/g(x). Applications are given using a variety or orderings of interest in statistics and applied probability.  相似文献

Let G be a graph with n vertices and m edges. Let λ1λ2, … , λn be the eigenvalues of the adjacency matrix of G, and let μ1μ2, … , μn be the eigenvalues of the Laplacian matrix of G. An earlier much studied quantity is the energy of the graph G. We now define and investigate the Laplacian energy as . There is a great deal of analogy between the properties of E(G) and LE(G), but also some significant differences.  相似文献

We develop first order eigenvalue expansions of one-parametric perturbations of square singular matrix polynomials. Although the eigenvalues of a singular matrix polynomial P(λ) are not continuous functions of the entries of the coefficients of the polynomial, we show that for most perturbations they are indeed continuous. Given an eigenvalue λ0 of P(λ) we prove that, for generic perturbations M(λ) of degree at most the degree of P(λ), the eigenvalues of P(λ)+?M(λ) admit covergent series expansions near λ0 and we describe the first order term of these expansions in terms of M(λ0) and certain particular bases of the left and right null spaces of P(λ0). In the important case of λ0 being a semisimple eigenvalue of P(λ) any bases of the left and right null spaces of P(λ0) can be used, and the first order term of the eigenvalue expansions takes a simple form. In this situation we also obtain the limit vector of the associated eigenvector expansions.  相似文献
