New opp‐dibenzoporphyrins were prepared in a concise method that was based on a Pd0‐catalyzed cascade reaction. These porphyrins, which contained carboxylic‐acid linker groups on benzene rings that were fused to the porphyrin at their β,β′‐positions, were examined as sensitizers for dye‐sensitized solar cells for the first time. Whereas all of the porphyrins showed solar‐energy‐to‐electricity conversion, an opp‐dibenzoporphyrin with conjugated carboxylic‐acid linkers displayed the highest conversion efficiency and an exceptionally high Jsc value. Cyclic voltammetry of these porphyrins suggested that the fusion of two aromatic benzene rings onto the periphery of the porphyrin lowered the HOMO–LUMO energy gap; the incorporation of a conjugated carboxylic‐acid linker group decreased the HOMO–LUMO gap even further. These CV data are consistent with DFT calculations for these porphyrins and agree well with the UV/Vis absorption‐ and fluorescence spectra of these porphyrins.  相似文献

A series of meso‐tetrakis‐(ERE donor) zinc(II) porphyrins n Zn (ERE donor=4‐R‐3,5‐bis[(E)‐methyl]phenyl; 1 Zn: E=NMe2, R=Br; 2 Zn: E=NMe2, R=H; 3 Zn: E=OMe, R=Br; 4 Zn: E=OMe, R=H) have been synthesized in excellent yields. As a result of the combination of a Lewis acidic site and eight Lewis basic sites within one molecule, monomeric molecules of n Zn self‐assemble to form one‐dimensional porphyrin polymers [ n Zn] in the solid state, as confirmed for 1 Zn and 3 Zn by X‐ray crystallography. The coordination environment around the zinc(II) ions in these polymers is octahedral. They are ligated by four equatorial nitrogen atoms of the porphyrin and two apical E atoms (E=N, O) provided by the EBrE donor groups of adjacent n Zn molecules. Complexes 2 Zn and 4 Zn did not form single crystals, but solid‐state UV/Vis analysis points to the formation of similar structures. Solution UV/Vis and 1H NMR spectroscopy indicated that interactions between 1 Zn and 2 Zn monomers in the polymers are stronger than between 3 Zn and 4 Zn monomers. Interestingly, they also revealed that the presence of a neighboring bromine atom in the EBrE donor groups has a considerable influence on the coordination properties of the benzylic N or O atoms. The zinc(II) ions of the porphyrins most likely adopt only hexacoordination in the solid state, owing to the unique predisposition of Lewis acidic and basic sites in the n Zn molecules. Several parameters of the aggregates, for example, the interplanar separation between porphyrins and the zinc–zinc distances, change as a function of the coordinating E groups. The high degree of modularity in their synthesis makes these zinc(II) porphyrins an interesting new entry in noncovalent multiporphyrin assemblies.  相似文献

Uncharged water‐soluble porphyrins were prepared by reaction between tetrakis(p‐hydroxyphenyl)porphyrin and chlorinated poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ethers of different molecular weights. Water‐solubility was achieved by binding four poly(ethylene glycol) branches to a porphyrin core to give star polymers with molecular weights in the range 2000–21 000 Da. Structural characterization of these star polymers was performed by means of gel permeation chromatography, NMR spectroscopy, and MALDI‐TOF analysis.  相似文献

The core N?H units of planar porphyrins are often inaccessible to forming hydrogen‐bonding complexes with acceptor molecules. This is due to the fact that the amine moieties are “shielded” by the macrocyclic system, impeding the formation of intermolecular H‐bonds. However, methods exist to modulate the tetrapyrrole conformations and to reshape the vector of N?H orientation outwards, thus increasing their availability and reactivity. Strategies include the use of porpho(di)methenes and phlorins (calixphyrins), as well as saddle‐distorted porphyrins. The former form cavities due to interruption of the aromatic system. The latter are highly basic systems and capable of binding anions and neutral molecules via N?H???X‐type H‐bonds. This Review discusses the role of porphyrin(oid) ligands in various coordination‐type complexes, means to access the core for hydrogen bonding, the concept of conformational control, and emerging applications, such as organocatalysis and sensors.  相似文献

Hydrogen bonding effects on surface structure, photophysical properties, and photoelectrochemistry have been examined in a mixed film of porphyrin and fullerene composites with and without hydrogen bonding on indium tin oxide and nanostructured SnO2 electrodes. The nanostructured SnO2 electrodes modified with the mixed films of porphyrin and fullerene composites with hydrogen bonding exhibited efficient photocurrent generation compared to the reference systems without hydrogen bonding. Atomic force microscopy, infrared reflection absorption, and ultraviolet-visible absorption spectroscopies and time-resolved fluorescence lifetime and transient absorption spectroscopic measurements disclosed the relationship between the surface structure and photophysical and photoelectrochemical properties relating to the formation of hydrogen bonding between the porphyrins and/or the C60 moieties in the films on the electrode surface. These results show that hydrogen bonding is a highly promising methodology for the fabrication of donor and acceptor composites on nanostructured semiconducting electrodes, which exhibit high photoelectrochemical properties.  相似文献

The attachment of redox-active molecules such as porphyrins to an electroactive surface provides an attractive approach for electrically addressable molecular-based information storage. Porphyrins are readily attached to a gold surface via thiol linkers. The rate of electron transfer between the electroactive surface and the porphyrin is one of the key factors that dictates suitability for molecular-based memory storage. This rate depends on the type and length of the linker connecting the thiol unit to the porphyrin. We have developed different routes for the preparation of thiol-derivatized porphyrins with eight different linkers. Two sets of linkers explore the effects of linker length and conjugation, with one set comprising phenylethyne units and one set comprising alkyl units. One electron-deficient linker has four fluorine atoms attached directly to a thiophenyl unit. To facilitate the synthesis of the porphyrins, convenient routes have been developed to a wide range of aldehydes possessing a protected S-acetylthio group. An efficient synthesis of 1-(S-acetylthio)-4-iodobenzene also has been developed. A set of porphyrins, each bearing one S-acetyl-derivatized linker at one meso position and mesityl moieties at the three remaining meso positions, has been synthesized. Altogether seven new aldehydes, eight free base porphyrins and eight zinc porphyrins have been prepared. The zinc porphyrins bearing the different linkers all form self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on gold via in situ cleavage of the S-acetyl protecting group. The SAM of each porphyrin is electrochemically robust and exhibits two reversible oxidation waves.  相似文献

A series of porous twofold interpenetrated In‐CoIII(porphyrin) metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) were constructed by in situ metalation of porphyrin bridging ligands and used as efficient cooperative catalysts for the hydration of terminal alkynes. The twofold interpenetrating structure brings adjacent CoIII(porphyrins) in the two networks parallel to each other with a distance of about 8.8 Å, an ideal distance for the simultaneous activation of both substrates in alkyne hydration reactions. As a result, the In‐CoIII(porphyrin) MOFs exhibit much higher (up to 38 times) catalytic activity than either homogeneous catalysts or MOF controls with isolated CoIII(porphyrin) centers, thus highlighting the potential application of MOFs in cooperative catalysis.  相似文献

Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy was used to study the hydrogen bond-breaking process in nylon 66 and two model compounds. The resulting enthalpy and entropy values indicated that while there is no interaction between adjacent amide groups in the polymer chain, there is, nevertheless, a substantial cooperative effect in the transverse hydrogen bond direction. We have also established that any analysis of hydrogen bond breaking in semicrystalline polymers (i.e., nylon 66) below the melting point should include a crystallinity correction factor. Extrapolation of our data above the melting point of nylon 66 yielded a 26% retention of hydrogen bonding.  相似文献

A series of zinc porphyrins substituted at adjacent β‐positions with a CN group and para‐substituted ethenyl/ethynyl‐phenyl group have been studied using electronic absorption spectroscopy, resonance Raman spectroscopy and DFT calculations. The oxidative nucleophilic substitution of hydrogen was utilized for the introduction of a cyano substituent on the porphyrin ring. This modification has a remarkable electronic effect on the ring. The resulting porphyrin cyanoaldehyde was further modified in Wittig condensations to give series of arylalkene‐ and arylalkyne‐substituted derivatives. This substitution pattern caused significant redshifting and broadening of the B band, tuning from 433–446 nm. Additionally the Q/B band intensity ratios show much higher values than observed for the parent porphyrin ZnTPP (0.20 vs. 0.03). Careful analysis of the electronic transitions using DFT and resonance Raman spectroscopy reveal that the substituent does not significantly perturb the electronic structure of the porphyrin core, which is still well described by Gouterman’s four‐orbital model. However, the substituents do play a role in elongating the conjugation length and this results in the observed spectral changes.  相似文献

Extensive photophysical properties of isomeric tetra-2-pyridylporphyrin (TpyP(2)), tetra-3-pyridylporphyrin (TpyP(3)), and tetra-4-pyridylporphyrin (TpyP(4)) have been studied in the presence of a series of phenols of increasing hydrogen bonding power in dichloromethane solution by employing UV/vis spectroscopy; steady-state, time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy; and transient absorption spectroscopic techniques. The change of absorption spectra of all three porphyrins as a function of different phenol concentrations established the preference of hydrogen bonded complex formation to the peripheral pyridyl nitrogen rather than the pyrrole nitrogen of the porphyrin macrocycle. The fluorescence behaviors of the porphyrins which were observed upon addition of different phenols point to a marked dependence on the nature of the added phenols. Phenols with an electron withdrawing group do not quench the fluorescence of porphyrins, whereas phenols with an electron donating group quench the singlet porphyrin both in static and dynamic pathways. A remarkable difference in quenching behaviors of singlet excited porphyrin by 4-methylphenol (4-MePhOH) and 4-MeOPhOH/4-EtOPhOH (4-EtOPhOH = 4-ethoxyphenol) are observed. The quenching of singlet excited porphyrins by 4-MePhOH is attributed to be purely static in nature, and the H-bond provides a strong nonradiative channel to singlet excited porphyrins. However, the quenching of singlet excited porphyrins by 4-MeOPhOH/4-EtOPhOH is mostly dynamic, and it is ascribed to be the reductive quenching of single excited porphyrins. Picosecond transient absorption study with TpyP(2) and 4-MeOPhOH provides the evidence of porphyrin radical anion and phenol radical cation of equal lifetime, which indicates the fact that electron transfer occurs from phenol to singlet excited porphyrin. The temperature effect on dynamic quenching by 4-MeOPhOH/4-EtOPhOH and kinetic deuterium isotope effect established the reaction to be a photoinduced concerted proton coupled electron transfer.  相似文献

Porphyrin‐embedded high molecular weight dendronized polymers up to fourth generation have been synthesized by Suzuki polycondensation of Fréchet‐type dendritic dibromo macromonomers and porphyrin diboronic pinacol ester. Higher generation lateral dendritic wedges not only endow the dendronized polymers with good solubility in commonly used organic solvents, but also prevent planar porphyrins and conjugated polymer backbones from aggregating by their “site isolation” effect. This type of porphyrin‐embedded dendronized polymers can be used as saturated red light‐emitting materials. With the increase of the generation of the lateral dendrons, the quantum yields of the dendronized polymers also gradually increased. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of coronenetetraimide (CorTIm)‐centered cruciform pentamers containing multiporphyrin units, in which four porphyrin units are covalently linked to a CorTIm core through benzyl linkages, were designed and synthesized to investigate their structural, spectroscopic, and electrochemical properties as well as photoinduced electron‐ and energy‐transfer dynamics. These systems afforded the first synthetic case of coroneneimide derivatives covalently linked with dye molecules. The steady‐state absorption and electrochemical results indicate that a CorTIm and four porphyrin units were successfully characterized by the corresponding reference monomers. In contrast, the steady‐state fluorescence measurements demonstrated that strong fluorescence quenching relative to the corresponding monomer units was observed in these pentamers. Nanosecond laser flash photolysis measurements revealed the occurrence of intermolecular electron transfer from triplet excited state of zinc porphyrins to CorTIm. Femtosecond laser‐induced transient absorption measurements for excitation of the CorTIm unit clearly demonstrate the sequential photoinduced energy and electron transfer between CorTIm and porphyrins, that is, occurrence of the initial energy transfer from CorTIm (energy donor) to porphyrins (energy acceptor) and subsequent electron transfer from porphyrins (electron donor) to CorTIm (electron acceptor) in these pentamers, whereas only the electron‐transfer process from porphyrins to CorTIm was observed when we mainly excite porphyrin units. Finally, construction of high‐order supramolecular patterning of these pentamers was performed by utilizing self‐assembly and physical dewetting during the evaporation of solvent.  相似文献

Molecular assemblies of two achiral porphyrins with different substituents, 5-(4-methoxycarbonylphenyl)-10,15,20-triphenyl-21H,23H-porphine (TPPCOOMe) and 5-(4-carboxyphenyl)-10,15,20-triphenyl-21H,23H-porphine (TPPCOOH), have been fabricated by the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technique. It is disclosed that although only slight differences exist in the molecular skeleton of these two compounds, their interfacial assemblies display distinct chiroptical properties. It is found that weak circular dichroism (CD) signals are observed from the TPPCOOH assemblies, while in the case of the TPPCOOMe assemblies, only negligible CD signals could be detected. Interestingly, after the assemblies are subjected to a thermal annealing treatment, TPPCOOH assemblies show a distinct amplification of CD signals, while those of TPPCOOMe do not. An explanation in terms of the effect of substituents on the spreading properties of the compounds and the effect of intermolecular hydrogen bonds on the cooperative stacking of the building blocks is proposed to explain these new findings. The investigation suggests that in the present porphyrin systems, besides a nice spreading property, the cooperative interaction of various noncovalent interactions, including hydrogen bonding, π-π stacking, and hydrophobic interactions, is essentially required for the occurrence of symmetry breaking at the air/water interface.  相似文献

High‐valent manganese(IV or V)–oxo porphyrins are considered as reactive intermediates in the oxidation of organic substrates by manganese porphyrin catalysts. We have generated MnV– and MnIV–oxo porphyrins in basic aqueous solution and investigated their reactivities in C? H bond activation of hydrocarbons. We now report that MnV– and MnIV–oxo porphyrins are capable of activating C? H bonds of alkylaromatics, with the reactivity order of MnV–oxo>MnIV–oxo; the reactivity of a MnV–oxo complex is 150 times greater than that of a MnIV–oxo complex in the oxidation of xanthene. The C? H bond activation of alkylaromatics by the MnV– and MnIV–oxo porphyrins is proposed to occur through a hydrogen‐atom abstraction, based on the observations of a good linear correlation between the reaction rates and the C? H bond dissociation energy (BDE) of substrates and high kinetic isotope effect (KIE) values in the oxidation of xanthene and dihydroanthracene (DHA). We have demonstrated that the disproportionation of MnIV–oxo porphyrins to MnV–oxo and MnIII porphyrins is not a feasible pathway in basic aqueous solution and that MnIV–oxo porphyrins are able to abstract hydrogen atoms from alkylaromatics. The C? H bond activation of alkylaromatics by MnV– and MnIV–oxo species proceeds through a one‐electron process, in which a MnIV–‐oxo porphyrin is formed as a product in the C? H bond activation by a MnV–oxo porphyrin, followed by a further reaction of the MnIV–oxo porphyrin with substrates that results in the formation of a MnIII porphyrin complex. This result is in contrast to the oxidation of sulfides by the MnV–oxo porphyrin, in which the oxidation of thioanisole by the MnV–oxo complex produces the starting MnIII porphyrin and thioanisole oxide. This result indicates that the oxidation of sulfides by the MnV–oxo species occurs by means of a two‐electron oxidation process. In contrast, a MnIV–oxo porphyrin complex is not capable of oxidizing sulfides due to a low oxidizing power in basic aqueous solution.  相似文献

The preparation and characterisation of the free-base and zinc metallated derivatives of 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-(2-(2-hydroxyethoxy)ethoxy)phenyl)porphyrin 1 is described. The X-ray crystal structure of the Zn(II) adduct 2 dimerises in the solid state via an intermolecular polyether oxygen–Zn(II) interaction (O…Zn = 2.124(4) Å). The porphyrin dimers form discrete layers defined by a distance of 5.10 Å between the porphyrin planes in adjacent layers. A bilayer sheeting arrangement of the porphyrin macrocyclic units is achieved through cooperative hydrogen bonding of the ethoxyethanol arms to form 11-membered macrocycles containing four hydrogen bonds.  相似文献

Self‐assembled porphyrins via noncovalent bonding have attracted wide‐ranging researchers in material science. We reported herein the synthesis of the tetraphenyl porphyrin derivatives bearing uracyl groups as acceptor–donor–acceptor (ADA) type hydrogen bonding units, through the condensation of 5,10‐ or 5,15‐bis (3‐amino‐4‐ethylhexylphenyl) porphyrin derivatives with 6‐carboxyuracyl derivatives. When two porphyrins having uracyl groups at the different substituted positions were respectively mixed with a melamine derivative in benzene, 1H NMR spectra showed that the 5,15 substituted uracyl porphyrin formed a hydrogen‐bonded suprastructure with the melamine derivative as a complementary molecule to the uracyl moiety, although the other 5,10‐substituted uracylporphyrin could not form such a structure. The SEM observation indicated that the mixture with the 5,15‐substituted uracyl porphyrin and the melamine with long alkyl chains formed a sheet‐like structure. The self‐assembly properties of two ZnII porphyrin isomers on Cu(111) are studied at different coverage by means of scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). Both isomers are substituted in their meso‐positions by two voluminous 3,5‐di(tert‐butyl)phenyl and two rod‐like 4′‐cyanobiphenyl groups, respectively. In the trans‐isomer, the two 4′‐cyanobiphenyl groups are opposite to each other, whereas they are located at right angle in the cis‐isomer. For coverage up to one monolayer, the cis‐substituted porphyrins self‐assemble to form oligomeric macrocycles held together by antiparallel CN???CN dipolar interactions and CN???H‐C(sp2) hydrogen bonding. Cyclic trimers and tetramers occur most frequently but everything from cyclic dimers to hexamers can be observed. Upon annealing of the samples at temperatures >150 °C, dimeric macrocyclic structures are observed, in which the two porphyrins are bridged by Cu atoms, originating from the surface, under formation of two CN???Cu???NC coordination bonds. The trans‐isomer builds up linear chains on Cu(111) at low coverage, whereas for higher coverage the molecules assemble in a periodic, densely packed structure. Both cis‐ and trans‐bis(4′‐cyanobiphenyl)‐substituted ZnII porphyrins behave very differently on Cu(111) compared to similar porphyrins in literature on less reactive surfaces such as Au(111) and Ag(111). On the latter surfaces, there is no signal visible between molecular orientation and the crystal directions of the substrate, whereas on Cu(111), very strong adsorbate–substrate interactions have a dominating influence on all observed structures. This strong porphyrin–substrate interaction enables a much broader variety of structures, including also less favorable intermolecular bonding motifs and geometries.  相似文献

There is substantial interest in dyads in which C(60) is covalently linked to electron donors, such as porphyrins, which absorb light strongly in the visible region. We present here the details of the syntheses of such compounds, which can be broadly organized into categories depending upon the nature of the linker joining the two chromophores. The structural aspects of intramolecular electronic interaction that we have sought to explore have dictated the synthetic strategies employed to generate these classes of molecules. Flexible glycol linkers were used to allow close approach between the fullerene and porphyrin, facilitating through-space interactions. These linkers also allowed studies of the effects of metal cation complexation. Naphthalene and alkyne linkers were used to examine the possible effects a conjugated or aromatic linker might have on photophysical properties. Finally, steroids were used as linkers in dyads expected to possess a large distance between the two chromophores, in which only through-bond interactions between the fullerene and porphyrin should be possible.  相似文献

Herein, we investigate the influence of spacer length on the homoassociation and heteroassociation of end‐functionalized hydrogen‐bonding polymers based on poly(n‐butyl acrylate). Two monofunctional ureido‐pyrimidinone (UPy) end‐functionalized polymers were prepared by atom transfer radical polymerization using self‐complementary UPy‐functional initiators that differ in the spacer length between the multiple‐hydrogen‐bonding group and the chain initiation site. The self‐complementary binding strength (Kdim) of these end‐functionalized polymers was shown to depend critically on the spacer length as evident from 1H NMR and diffusion‐ordered spectroscopy. In addition, the heteroassociation strength of the end‐functionalized UPy polymers with end‐functionalized polymers containing the complementary 2,7‐diamido‐1,8‐naphthyridine (NaPy) hydrogen‐bond motif is also affected when the aliphatic spacer length is too short. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
