The present study comprehensively explores diverse mechanistic pathways for intramolecular hydroamination of prototype 2,2‐dimethyl‐4‐penten‐1‐amine by Cp*Ir chloropyrazole ( 1 ; Cp*=pentamethylcyclopentadienyl) in the presence of KOtBu base with the aid of density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The most accessible mechanistic pathway for catalytic turnover commences from Cp*Ir pyrazolato (Pz) substrate adduct 2 ?S, representing the catalytically competent compound and proceeds via initial electrophilic activation of the olefin C?C bond by the metal centre. It entails 1) facile and reversible anti nucleophilic amine attack on the iridium–olefin linkage; 2) Ir? C bond protonolysis via stepwise transfer of the ammonium N? H proton at the zwitterionic [Cp*IrPz–alkyl] intermediate onto the metal that is linked to turnover‐limiting, reductive, cycloamine elimination commencing from a high‐energy, metastable [Cp*IrPz–hydrido–alkyl] species; and 3) subsequent facile cycloamine liberation to regenerate the active catalyst species. The amine–iridium bound 2 a ?S likely corresponds to the catalyst resting state and the catalytic reaction is expected to proceed with a significant primary kinetic isotope. This study unveils the vital role of a supportive hydrogen‐bonded network involving suitably aligned β‐basic pyrazolato and cycloamido moieties together with an external amine molecule in facilitating metal protonation and reductive elimination. Cooperative hydrogen bonding thus appears pivotal for effective catalysis. The mechanistic scenario is consonant with catalyst performance data and furthermore accounts for the variation in performance for [Cp*IrPz] compounds featuring a β‐ or γ‐basic pyrazolato unit. As far as the route that involves amine N? H bond activation is concerned, a thus far undocumented pathway for concerted amidoalkene → cycloamine conversion through olefin protonation by the pyrazole N? H concurrent with N? C ring closure is disclosed as a favourable scenario. Although not practicable in the present system, this pathway describes a novel mechanistic variant in late transition metal–ligand bifunctional hydroamination catalysis that can perhaps be viable for tailored catalyst designs. The insights revealed herein concerning the operative mechanism and the structure–reactivity relationships will likely govern the rational design of late transition metal–ligand bifunctional catalysts and facilitate further conceptual advances in the area.  相似文献

This work showcases a new catalytic cyclization reaction using a highly Lewis acidic borane with concomitant C−H or C−C bond formation. The activation of alkyne‐containing substrates with B(C6F5)3 enabled the first catalytic intramolecular cyclizations of carboxylic acid substrates using this Lewis acid. In addition, intramolecular cyclizations of esters enable C−C bond formation as catalytic B(C6F5)3 can be used to effect formal 1,5‐alkyl migrations from the ester functional groups to unsaturated carbon–carbon frameworks. This metal‐free method was used for the catalytic formation of complex dihydropyrones and isocoumarins in very good yields under relatively mild conditions with excellent atom efficiency.  相似文献

A density functional theory (DFT) study of carbon? hydrogen versus carbon? heteroatom bond activation is presented. Heteroatom groups (X) investigated include X = F, Cl, OH, SH, NH2, PH2. The activating model complex is a prototypical d0 zirconium‐imide. While C? X activation has a thermodynamic advantage over C? H activation, the former has been found to have a kinetic advantage. Implications for catalytic hydrocarbon functionalization and phosphine–ligand degradation are discussed. The present results for a high‐valent metal complex are compared/contrasted with low‐valent bond activating complexes. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J Quantum Chem, 2006  相似文献

The synthesis of a ruthenium carbene complex based on a sulfonyl‐substituted methandiide and its application in bond activation reactions and cooperative catalysis is reported. In the complex, the metal–carbon interaction can be tuned between a Ru?C single bond with additional electrostatic interactions and a Ru?C double bond, thus allowing the control of the stability and reactivity of the complex. Hence, activation of polar and non‐polar bonds (O?H, H?H) as well as dehydrogenation reactions become possible. In these reactions the carbene acts as a non‐innocent ligand supporting the bond activation as nucleophilic center in the 1,2‐addition across the metal–carbon double bond. This metal–ligand cooperativity can be applied in the catalytic transfer hydrogenation for the reduction of ketones. This concept opens new ways for the application of carbene complexes in catalysis.  相似文献

The reaction pathway of an enantioselective 5‐endotrig‐type cyclization of 3‐alkenoic acids catalyzed by a chiral palladium–spiro‐bis(isoxazoline) complex, Pd–SPRIX, has been studied by density functional theory calculations. The most plausible pathway involves intramolecular nucleophilic attack of the carboxylate moiety on the C?C double bond activated by Pd–SPRIX and β‐H elimination from the resulting organopalladium intermediate. The enantioselectivity was determined in the cyclization step through the formation of a π‐olefin complex, in which one of the two enantiofaces of the olefin moiety was selected. The β‐H elimination occurs via a seven‐membered cyclic structure in which the acetate ligand plays a key role in lowering the activation barrier of the transition state. In the elimination step, the SPRIX ligand was found to behave as a monodentate ligand due to the hemilability of one of the isoxazoline units thereby facilitating the elimination. Natural population analysis of this pathway showed that the more weakly electron‐donating SPRIX ligand, compared with the bis(oxazoline) ligand, BOX, facilitated the formation of the π‐olefin complex intermediate, leading to a smaller overall activation energy and a higher reactivity of the Pd–SPRIX catalyst.  相似文献

DFT calculations have been performed on the palladium‐catalyzed carboiodination reaction. The reaction involves oxidative addition, alkyne insertion, C?N bond cleavage, and reductive elimination. For the alkylpalladium iodide intermediate, LiOtBu stabilizes the intermediate in non‐polar solvents, thus promoting reductive elimination and preventing β‐hydride elimination. The C?N bond cleavage process was explored and the computations show that PPh3 is not bound to the Pd center during this step. Experimentally, it was demonstrated that LiOtBu is not necessary for the oxidative addition, alkyne insertion, or C?N bond cleavage steps, lending support to the conclusions from the DFT calculations. The turnover‐limiting steps were found to be C?N bond cleavage and reductive elimination, whereas oxidative addition, alkyne insertion, and formation of the indole ring provide the driving force for the reaction.  相似文献

A bis‐cyclometalated rhodium(III) complex catalyzes a visible‐light‐activated enantioselective α‐amination of 2‐acyl imidazoles with up to 99 % yield and 98 % ee. The rhodium catalyst is ascribed a dual function as a chiral Lewis acid and, simultaneously, as a light‐activated smart initiator of a radical‐chain process through intermediate aminyl radicals. Notably, related iridium‐based photoredox catalysts reported before were unsuccessful in this enantioselective radical C?N bond formation. The surprising preference for rhodium over iridium is attributed to much faster ligand‐exchange kinetics of the rhodium complexes involved in the catalytic cycle, which is crucial to keep pace with the highly reactive and thus short‐lived nitrogen‐centered radical intermediate.  相似文献

A general regioselective rhodium‐catalyzed head‐to‐tail dimerization of terminal alkynes is presented. The presence of a pyridine ligand (py) in a Rh–N‐heterocyclic‐carbene (NHC) catalytic system not only dramatically switches the chemoselectivity from alkyne cyclotrimerization to dimerization but also enhances the catalytic activity. Several intermediates have been detected in the catalytic process, including the π‐alkyne‐coordinated RhI species [RhCl(NHC)(η2‐HC?CCH2Ph)(py)] ( 3 ) and [RhCl(NHC){η2‐C(tBu)?C(E)CH?CHtBu}(py)] ( 4 ) and the RhIII–hydride–alkynyl species [RhClH{? C?CSi(Me)3}(IPr)(py)2] ( 5 ). Computational DFT studies reveal an operational mechanism consisting of sequential alkyne C? H oxidative addition, alkyne insertion, and reductive elimination. A 2,1‐hydrometalation of the alkyne is the more favorable pathway in accordance with a head‐to‐tail selectivity.  相似文献

Catalytic activities of a series of functional bipyridine‐based RuII complexes in β‐alkylation of secondary alcohols using primary alcohols were investigated. Bifunctional RuII complex ( 3 a ) bearing 6,6’‐dihydroxy‐2,2’‐bipyridine (6DHBP) ligand exhibited the highest catalytic activity for this reaction. Using significantly lower catalyst loading (0.1 mol %) dehydrogenative carbon?carbon bond formation between numerous aromatic, aliphatic and heteroatom substituted alcohols were achieved with high selectivity. Notably, for the synthesis of β‐alkylated secondary alcohols this protocol is a rare one‐pot strategy using a metal–ligand cooperative RuII system. Remarkably, complex 3 a demonstrated the highest reactivity compared to all the reported transition metal complexes in this reaction.  相似文献

A convenient and waste‐free synthesis of indene‐based tertiary carbinamines by rhodium‐catalyzed imine/alkyne [3+2] annulation is described. Under the optimized conditions of 0.5–2.5 mol % [{(cod)Rh(OH)}2] (cod=1,5‐cyclooctadiene) catalyst, 1,3‐bis(diphenylphosphanyl)propane (DPPP) ligand, in toluene at 120 °C, N‐unsubstituted aromatic ketimines and internal alkynes were coupled in a 1:1 ratio to form tertiary 1H‐inden‐1‐amines in good yields and with high selectivities over isoquinoline products. A plausible catalytic cycle involves sequential imine‐directed aromatic C? H bond activation, alkyne insertion, and a rare example of intramolecular ketimine insertion into a RhI–alkenyl linkage.  相似文献

The cycloisomerization reaction of 1‐(iodoethynyl)‐2‐(1‐methoxyalkyl)arenes and related 2‐alkyl‐substituted derivatives gives the corresponding 3‐iodo‐1‐substituted‐1H‐indene under the catalytic influence of IPrAuNTf2 [IPr=1,3‐bis(2,6‐diisopropyl)phenylimidazol‐2‐ylidene; NTf2=bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imidate]. The reaction takes place in 1,2‐dichloroethane at 80 °C, and the addition of ttbp (2,4,6‐tri‐tert‐butylpyrimidine) is beneficial to accomplish this new transformation in high yield. The overall reaction implies initial assembly of an intermediate gold vinylidene upon alkyne activation by gold(I) and a 1,2‐iodine‐shift. Deuterium labeling and crossover experiments, the magnitude of the recorded kinetic primary isotopic effect, and the results obtained from the reaction of selected stereochemical probes strongly provide support for concerted insertion of the benzylic C? H bond into gold vinylidene as the step responsible for the formation of the new carbon–carbon bond.  相似文献

Combining single electron transfer between a donor substrate and a catalyst‐activated acceptor substrate with a stereocontrolled radical–radical recombination enables the visible‐light‐driven catalytic enantio‐ and diastereoselective synthesis of 1,2‐amino alcohols from trifluoromethyl ketones and tertiary amines. With a chiral iridium complex acting as both a Lewis acid and a photoredox catalyst, enantioselectivities of up to 99 % ee were achieved. A quantum yield of <1 supports the proposed catalytic cycle in which at least one photon is needed for each asymmetric C? C bond formation mediated by single electron transfer.  相似文献

Highly selective β‐methylation of alcohols was achieved using an earth‐abundant first row transition metal in the air stable molecular manganese complex [Mn(CO)2Br[HN(C2H4PiPr2)2]] 1 ([HN(C2H4PiPr2)2]=MACHO‐iPr). The reaction requires only low loadings of 1 (0.5 mol %), methanolate as base and MeOH as methylation reagent as well as solvent. Various alcohols were β‐methylated with very good selectivity (>99 %) and excellent yield (up to 94 %). Biomass derived aliphatic alcohols and diols were also selectively methylated on the β‐position, opening a pathway to “biohybrid” molecules constructed entirely from non‐fossil carbon. Mechanistic studies indicate that the reaction proceeds through a borrowing hydrogen pathway involving metal–ligand cooperation at the Mn‐pincer complex. This transformation provides a convenient, economical, and environmentally benign pathway for the selective C?C bond formation with potential applications for the preparation of advanced biofuels, fine chemicals, and biologically active molecules  相似文献

The activation of carbon–carbon σ bonds is a complementary method to access uncommon and difficult‐to‐prepare organometallic species. Herein, we describe the activation of tert‐cyclobutanols through an enantioselective insertion of a chiral rhodium(I) complex into the C? C σ bond of the cyclobutane, forming a quaternary stereogenic center and an alkyl‐rhodium functionality that initiates ring‐closure reactions. This technology provides access to a variety of substituted cyclohexane derivatives with quaternary stereogenic centers. The formation of different product families can be controlled by the employed set of reaction conditions and additives. In general, high yields and excellent enantioselectivities of up to 99 % ee are obtained.  相似文献

The first decarbonylative insertion of an alkyne through C?H/C?C activation of six‐membered compounds is reported. The Ru‐catalyzed reaction of 3‐hydroxy‐2‐phenyl‐chromones with alkynes works most efficiently in the presence of the ligand PPh3 to provide spiro‐indenebenzofuranones. Unlike previously reported metal‐catalyzed decarbonylative annulation reactions, in the present decarbonylative annulation reaction, the annulation occurs before extrusion of carbon monoxide.  相似文献

The palladium‐catalyzed desymmetrization of silacyclobutanes using electron‐deficient alkynes proceeds with high enantioselectivity in the presence of a chiral P ligand; this provides a facile approach for the synthesis of novel silicon‐stereogenic silanes. In this work, we used hybrid density functional theory (DFT) to elucidate the mechanism of the palladium‐catalyzed desymmetrization of silacyclobutanes with dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate. Full catalytic cycle including two different initiation modes that were proposed to be a possible initial step to the formation of the 1‐pallada‐2‐silacyclopentane/alkyne intermediate—the oxidative addition of the palladium complex to the silacyclobutane Si?C bond (cycle MA) or coordination of the Pd0 complex with the alkyne C≡C bond (cycle MB)—have been studied. It was found that the ring‐expansion reaction began with cycle MB is energetically more favorable. The formation of a seven‐membered metallocyclic PdII intermediate was found to be the rate‐determining step, whereas the enantioselectivity‐determining step, oxidative addition of silacyclobutane to the three‐membered metallocyclic PdII intermediate, was found to be quite sensitive to the steric repulsion between the chiral ligand and silacyclobutane.  相似文献

The [2+2+1] cycloaddition reaction of 1,4-diazabutadienes, carbon monoxide and ethylene catalyzed by iron carbonyl complexes produces pyrrolidin-2-one derivatives. Only one of the two imine moieties is activated during the catalysis. The mechanism of this cycloaddition reaction is studied by density functional theory at the B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) level of theory. In accordance with experimental results, a [(diazabutadiene)Fe(CO)(3)] complex of square-pyramidal geometry is used as the starting compound S of the catalytic cycle. Based on experimental experience, the reaction with ethylene is considered to take place before any interaction with carbon monoxide. According to the computational results, the reaction does not proceed by ligand dissociation followed by addition of ethylene and subsequent intramolecular activation steps but by the approach of an ethylene molecule from the base of the square-pyramidal complex. This reaction yields an intermediate I(4) in which ethylene is coordinated to the iron centre and a new C-C bond between ethylene and one of the imine groups is formed. The insertion of a terminal carbon monoxide ligand into the metal-carbon bond between ethylene and iron produces the key intermediate I(7). The reaction proceeds by metal-assisted formation of a lactam P. The catalytic cycle is closed by a ligand-exchange reaction in which the diazabutadiene ligand substitutes P with reformation of S. This reaction pathway is found to be energetically favored over a reductive elimination. It leads to the experimentally observed heterocyclic product P and a reactive [Fe(CO)(3)] fragment.  相似文献

Gold-catalyzed intermolecular alkyne oxidation has attracted much synthetic attention, but mostly suffering undesired over-oxidation. Recent experiments demonstrated that over-oxidation could be dramatically suppressed in zinc(II)-catalyzed intermolecular alkyne oxidation/C H functionalization. By means of first-principle density functional theory calculations, we explored the mechanism of the M-catalyzed intermolecular alkyne oxidations (M = Zn(OTf)2 and Au+PR3) as well as the effects of oxidants, temperature, and metal catalysts on chemoselectivity, in an effort to disclose the origin of the extraordinary chemoselectivity pertaining to zinc catalysis. Our calculations indicate that the Zn-catalyzed intermolecular alkyne oxidation/C H functionalization proceeds by a Friedel–Crafts alkylation mechanism rather than metal carbene insertion mechanism. The chemoselectivity of C H functionalization against over-oxidation in Zn catalysis, in comparison with gold catalysis, can be jointly controlled by four factors: (1) the use of less nucleophilic N-oxide, (2) the enhanced electrophilicity and carbocationic nature of the carbenic site in the α-oxo metal carbenoid intermediate, (3) enhanced steric repulsion to incoming oxidant exerted by bulky ancillary ligand in the close nearby of the carbenic site to disfavor intermolecular over-oxidation and (4) the large negative value of activation entropy in the intermolecular over-oxidation pathway, that jointly give rise to lower activation free energy for the intramolecular cyclization/C H functionalization pathway than for the intermolecular over-oxidation pathway. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Described is the development of a new class of bis(cyclometalated) ruthenium(II) catalyst precursors for C? C coupling reactions between alkene and alkyne substrates. The complex [(cod)Ru(3‐methallyl)2] reacts with benzophenone imine or benzophenone in a 1:2 ratio to form bis(cyclometalated) ruthenium(II) complexes ( 1 ). The imine‐ligated complex 1 a promoted room‐temperature coupling between acrylic esters and amides with internal alkynes to form 1,3‐diene products. A proposed catalytic cycle involves C? C bond formation by oxidative cyclization, β‐hydride elimination, and C? H bond reductive elimination. This RuII/RuIV pathway is consistent with the observed catalytic reactivity of 1 a for mild tail‐to‐tail methyl acrylate dimerization and for cyclobutene formation by [2+2] norbornene/alkyne cycloaddition.  相似文献

C–C coupling reactions are of great importance in metal-catalyzed synthetic transformations. Reductive elimination of two carbon centers is the key stage, which takes place in the metal coordination sphere. In the present study, we provide a detailed analysis of nonclassical R–NHC coupling in the model (NHC)Pdii(Ph)(X)(Solv) complex, which is a representative intermediate of the Mizoroki–Heck and cross-coupling reactions. This C–C bond formation stage proceeds as Ph ligand movement and insertion into the Pd–NHC bond, rather than classical C–C coupling. Based on the analysis by the quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM) of the reaction path structures, the atomic rearrangements and alterations in the electronic system during the R–NHC coupling process were characterized in detail.  相似文献
