A 3-body:many-body integrated quantum mechanical (QM) fragmentation method for non-covalent clusters is introduced within the ONIOM formalism. The technique captures all 1-, 2-, and 3-body interactions with a high-level electronic structure method, while a less demanding low-level method is employed to recover 4-body and higher-order interactions. When systematically applied to 40 low-lying (H(2)O)(n) isomers ranging in size from n = 3 to 10, the CCSD(T):MP2 3-body:many-body fragmentation scheme deviates from the full CCSD(T) interaction energy by no more than 0.07 kcal mol(-1) (or <0.01 kcal mol(-1) per water). The errors for this QM:QM method increase only slightly for various low-lying isomers of (H(2)O)(16) and (H(2)O)(17) (always within 0.13 kcal mol(-1) of the recently reported canonical CCSD(T)/aug-cc-pVTZ energies). The 3-body:many-body CCSD(T):MP2 procedure is also very efficient because the CCSD(T) computations only need to be performed on subsets of the cluster containing 1, 2, or 3 monomers, which in the current context means the largest CCSD(T) calculations are for 3 water molecules, regardless of the cluster size.  相似文献

Ab initio all-electron molecular-orbital calculations are carried out to study the structures and relative stability of low-energy silicon clusters (Si(n),n = 12-20). Selected geometric isomers include those predicted by Ho et al. [Nature (London) 392, 582 (1998)] based on an unbiased search with tight-binding/genetic algorithm, as well as those found by Rata et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 85, 546 (2000)] based on density-functional tight-binding/single-parent evolution algorithm. These geometric isomers are optimized at the M?ller-Plesset (MP2) MP2/6-31G(d) level. The single-point energy at the coupled-cluster single and double substitutions (including triple excitations) [CCSD(T)] CCSD(T)/6-31G(d) level for several low-lying isomers are further computed. Harmonic vibrational frequency analysis at the MP2/6-31G(d) level of theory is also undertaken to assure that the optimized geometries are stable. For Si12-Si17 and Si19 the isomer with the lowest-energy at the CCSD(T)/6-31G(d) level is the same as that predicted by Ho et al., whereas for Si18 and Si20, the same as predicted by Rata et al. However, for Si14 and Si15, the vibrational frequency analysis indicates that the isomer with the lowest CCSD(T)/6-31G(d) single-point energy gives rise to imaginary frequencies. Small structural perturbation onto the Si14 and Si15 isomers can remove the imaginary frequencies and results in new isomers with slightly lower MP2/6-31G(d) energy; however the new isomers have a higher single-point energy at the CCSD(T)/6-31G(d) level. For most Si(n) (n = 12-18,20) the low-lying isomers are prolate in shape, whereas for Si19 a spherical-like isomer is slightly lower in energy at the CCSD(T)/6-31G(d) level than low-lying prolate isomers.  相似文献

We use a variant of the focal point analysis to refine estimates of the relative energies of the four low‐energy torsional conformers of glycolaldehyde. The most stable form is the cis‐cis structure which enjoys a degree of H‐bonding from hydroxyl H to carbonyl O; here dihedral angles τ1 (O?C? C? O) and τ2 (C? C? O? H) both are zero. We optimized structures in both CCSD(T)/aug‐cc‐pVDZ and aug‐cc‐pVTZ; the structures agree within 0.01 Å for bond lengths and 1.0 degrees for valence angles, but the larger basis brings the rotational constants closer to experimental values. According to our extrapolation of CCSD(T) energies evaluated in basis sets ranging to aug‐cc‐pVQZ the trans‐trans form (180°, 180°) has a relative energy of 12.6 kJ/mol. The trans‐gauche conformer (160°, ±75°) is situated at 13.9 kJ/mol and the cis‐trans form (0°, 180°) at 18.9 kJ/mol. Values are corrected for zero point vibrational energy by MP2/aug‐cc‐pVTZ frequencies. Modeling the vibrational spectra is best accomplished by MP2/aug‐cc‐pVTZ with anharmonic corrections. We compute the Watsonian parameters that define the theoretical vibrational‐rotational spectra for the four stable conformers, to assist the search for these species in the interstellar medium. Six transition states are located by G4 and CBS‐QB3 methods as well as extrapolation using energies for structures optimized in CCSD(T)/aug‐cc‐pVDZ structures. We use two isodesmic reactions with two well‐established thermochemical computational schemes G4 and CBS‐QB3 to estimate energy enthalpy and Gibbs energy of formation as well as the entropy of the gas phase system. Our extrapolated electronic energies of species appearing in the isodesmic reactions produce independent values of thermodynamic quantities consistent with G4 and CBS‐QB3. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

The ionization energies (IEs) and heats of formation (ΔH°(f0)/ΔH°(f298)) for thiophene (C(4)H(4)S), furan (C(4)H(4)O), pyrrole (C(4)H(4)NH), 1,3-cyclopentadiene (C(4)H(4)CH(2)), and borole (C(4)H(4)BH) have been calculated by the wave function-based ab initio CCSD(T)/CBS approach, which involves the approximation to the complete basis set (CBS) limit at the coupled-cluster level with single and double excitations plus a quasi-perturbative triple excitation [CCSD(T)]. Where appropriate, the zero-point vibrational energy correction (ZPVE), the core-valence electronic correction (CV), and the scalar relativistic effect (SR) are included in these calculations. The respective CCSD(T)/CBS predictions for C(4)H(4)S, C(4)H(4)O, C(4)H(4)NH, and C(4)H(4)CH(2), being 8.888, 8.897, 8.222, and 8.582 eV, are in excellent agreement with the experimental values obtained from previous photoelectron and photoion measurements. The ΔH°(f0)/ΔH°(f298) values for the aforementioned molecules and their corresponding cations have also been predicted by the CCSD(T)/CBS method, and the results are compared with the available experimental data. The comparisons between the CCSD(T)/CBS predictions and the experimental values for C(4)H(4)S, C(4)H(4)O, C(4)H(4)NH, and C(4)H(4)CH(2) suggest that the CCSD(T)/CBS procedure is capable of predicting reliable IE values for five-membered-ring molecules with an uncertainty of ±13 meV. In view of the excellent agreements between the CCSD(T)/CBS predictions and the experimental values for C(4)H(4)S, C(4)H(4)O, C(4)H(4)NH, and C(4)H(4)CH(2), the similar CCSD(T)/CBS IE and ΔH°(f0)/ΔH°(f298) predictions for C(4)H(4)BH, whose thermochemical data are not readily available due to its reactive nature, should constitute a reliable data set. The CCSD(T)/CBS IE(C(4)H(4)BH) value is 8.868 eV, and ΔH°(f0)/ΔH°(f298) values for C(4)H(4)BH and C(4)H(4)BH(+) are 269.5/258.6 and 1125.1/1114.6 kJ/mol, respectively. The highest occupied molecular orbitals (HOMO) of C(4)H(4)S, C(4)H(4)O, C(4)H(4)NH, C(4)H(4)CH(2), and C(4)H(4)BH have also been studied by the natural bond orbital (NBO) method, and the extent of π-electron delocalization in these five-membered rings are discussed in correlation with their molecular structures and orbitals.  相似文献

The cis and trans isomers of the HO3- anion, which are important in proposed mechanisms for ozonization, are studied computationally. Relative energies, geometries, and normal-mode frequencies are calculated with anti-Hermitian contracted Schr?dinger equation (ACSE) and coupled cluster methods. Both the ACSE method and the coupled cluster method with single and double excitations (CCSD) are applied in a correlation-consistent polarized double-zeta basis set (cc-pVDZ). Using coupled cluster with singles, doubles, and perturbative triples (CCSD(T)), we treat the problem with larger basis sets than those in previous work, including correlation-consistent polarized quadruple-zeta basis sets with (aug-cc-pVQZ) and without (cc-pVQZ) diffuse functions, which permit extrapolation of the cis and trans energies to the complete-basis-set limit. The cis isomer is found to be lower in energy than the trans isomer by -3.5 kcal/mol, which is 50% larger in magnitude than the best previous result of -2.2 kcal/mol. The bond lengths between the O2 and OH fragments of the cis- and trans-HO3 are calculated to be 1.713 and 1.857 A, respectively, where both bond lengths are significantly longer than the 1.464 A O-O bond in hydrogen peroxide. In this paper, we extend the ACSE method [Mazziotti, D. A. J. Chem. Phys. 2007, 126, 184101], which computes the two-electron reduced density matrix directly, to include geometry optimization by a Newton's method with numerical derivatives. Calculation of the cis- and trans-HO3- isomers by the ACSE yields energies, geometries, and frequencies that are closer to those from CCSD(T) than those from CCSD.  相似文献

The CCSD(T)/cc-pVTZ//CCSD/cc-pVTZ method is used to determine the geometries and energetics of the isomers HXCY vs HY─CX (XN, P, As; YO, S) and their dimers from chain dimerizations and head-to-head or head-to-tail [2 + 2] cyclodimerizations. The HO─CX structures with CX triple bonds lie at energies at least 18.5 kcal/mol above their HXCO isomers. However, the energy differences between the HXCS and HS─CX isomers are found to be particularly small, especially in the [H,P,C,S] and [H,As,C,S] systems. For (HNCY)2, the lowest energy dimers are the chain isomers, which lie ~11 kcal/mol below the lowest energy cyclic dimers aNO containing a NCNC ring and cNS containing a NCSC ring. Formation of the remaining dimers through dimerization from two monomers is predicted to be endothermic and thus thermodynamically disfavored. However, the energies of the chain isomers in the other (HXCY)2 (XP, As; YO, S) series are higher than those of the corresponding isomeric lowest energy cyclodimers. For (HXCO)2 (XP, As), the lowest energy structures are the head-to-head dimers hPO and hAsO containing a C─C─XX ring. For (HXCS)2 (XP, As), the lowest energy structures are the head-to-head dimers gPS and gAsS with a CCXS ring.  相似文献

A theoretical study has been made on six isomers of H2SO2 using coupled-cluster singles and doubles with noniterative triple excitations (CCSD(T)). The isomers studied are sulfoxylic acid (S(OH)2; C2 and Cs conformers), sulfinic acid (HS(=O)OH; 2 C1 conformers), dihydrogen sulfone (H2SO2; C2v), sulfhydryl hydroperoxide (HSOOH; C1), thiadioxirane (Cs), and dihydrogen persulfoxide (H2SOO; Cs). Molecular geometries, harmonic vibrational frequencies, and infrared intensities of all species were obtained using the CCSD(T) method and the 6-311++G(2d,2p) basis set. All aforementioned species were found to be local minima, with the exception of thiadioxirane, which has one imaginary frequency. A prior possible infrared observation of sulfinic acid was reassessed on the basis of the present data. In agreement with previous MP2 results, the present CCSD(T) data provide support for at most 4 of the 8 observed frequencies. The CCSD(T) frequencies and intensities should be of assistance in future identification of H2SO2 isomers by vibrational spectroscopy. Relative energies were calculated using the CCSD(T) method and several larger basis sets. As found previously, the lowest energy species is C2 S(OH)2, followed by Cs S(OH)2, HS(=O)OH, H2SO2, HSOOH, thiadioxirane, and H2SOO. Expanding the basis set significantly reduces the relative energies of HS(=O)OH and H2SO2. The CCSD(T) method was used with extended basis sets (up to aug-cc-pV(Q+d)Z) and basis set extrapolation in two reaction schemes to calculate the DeltaH degrees t (25 degrees C) of C2 S(OH)2. The two reaction schemes gave -285.8 and -282.7 kJ mol-1, which are quite close to a prior theoretical estimate (-290 kJ mol-1).  相似文献

二重态的N3O2中性分子作为中间体, 在N3O2阴离子的光解离反应和NO+N2O←→N2+NO2反应中均起重要作用. 在CCSD(T)/6-311G(d,p)//B3LYP/6-311G(d,p)+ZPE的水平上, 对这两个反应进行了理论计算.

Boron-centered radicals have received growing interest. Recently, two groups reported density functional theory investigations (GGA-PW91 and B3LYP) on a hexa-atomic boron-oxide radical, B(5)O, which has led to great discrepancies on the type of low-lying structures. In this article, we not only explore the energetics of doublet and quartet B(5)O isomers at high electron-correlated levels (CCSD(T)/6-311+G(2df), CCSD(T)/aug-cc-pVTZ, and G3B3) but also investigate the isomerization and fragmentation stability of the low-lying B(5)O isomers. All the high-level studies consistently show that the B(5)O radical possesses a belt-like ground structure (2)01 in doublet electronic state followed by isomer (2)02 with an exocyclic - BO moiety at around 3.0 kcal/mol. Kinetically, (2)01 and (2)02 are separated by a considerable barrier of about 20 kcal/mol. Thus, the two isomeric forms of B(5)O radical should be very promising for isolation in laboratory. However, the other four isomers reported recently are all kinetically unstable toward conversion to (2)01 and (2)02. The high thermodynamic and kinetic stability of (2)01 and (2)02 might make them as important building cores in the growth of boron-oxide clusters. This results would also help deeply understand the oxidation and doping mechanism of pure boron clusters.  相似文献

DFT/B3LYP/6-311G(d) and CCSD(T)/6-311G(2d) single-point calculations are carried out for exploring the doublet potential energy surface (PES) of PC3O, a molecule of potential interest in interstellar chemistry. A total of 29 minima connected by 65 interconversion transition states are located. The structures of the most relevant isomers and transition states are further optimized at the QCISD level followed by CCSD(T) single-point energy calculations. At the CCSD(T)/6-311G(2df)//QCISD/6-311G(d)+ZPVE level, the global minimum is the quasi-linear structure PCCCO 1 (0.0 kcal/mol) with a great kinetic stability of 47.9 kcal/mol, and the cumulenic form features largely in its resonance structures. Moreover, the chainlike isomer OPCCC 3 (64.5) and five-membered-ring species cPCCCO 19 (77.8) possess considerable kinetic stability of about 18.0 kcal/mol. All these three isomers are very promising candidates for future experimental and astrophysical detection. Additionally, a three-membered-ring isomer CC-cCOP 10 (69.6) has slightly lower kinetic stability of around 15 kcal/mol and may also be experimentally observable. Possible formation mechanisms of the four stable isomers in interstellar space are discussed. The present research is the first attempt to study the isomerization and dissociation mechanisms of PC n O series. The predicted spectroscopic properties, including harmonic vibrational frequencies, dipole moments and rotational constants for the relevant isomers, are expected to be informative for the identification of PC3O in laboratory and interstellar medium.  相似文献

We present a reinvestigation of sulfate-water clusters SO4(2-) (H2O)(n=3-7), which involves several new aspects. Using a joint molecular mechanics/first principles approach, we perform exhaustive searches for stable cluster geometries, showing that the sulfate-water landscape is much richer than anticipated previously. We check the compatibility of the new structures with experiment by comparing vertical detachment energies (VDEs) calculated at the B3LYP/6-311++G** level of theory and determine the energetic ordering of the isomers at the RI-MP2/aug-cc-pVTZ level. Our results are bench-marked carefully against reference energies of estimated CCSD(T)/aug-cc-VTZ quality and VDEs of CCSD(T)/aug-cc-pVDZ quality. Furthermore, we calculate anharmonic vibrational corrections for up to the n = 6 clusters, which are shown to be significant for isomer energy ordering. We use energy decomposition analysis (EDA) based on the absolutely localized fragment (ALMO) expansion to gain chemical insight into the binding motifs.

Ab initio molecular orbital (MO) calculations have been carried out for base-hydrogen fluoride (HF) complexes (base = O3 and SO2) in order to elucidate the structures and energetics of the complexes. The ab initio calculations were performed up to the QCISD(T)/6-311++G(d,p) level of theory. In both complexes, hydrogen-bonded structures where the hydrogen of HF orients toward one of the oxygen atoms of bases were obtained as stable forms. The calculations showed that cis and trans isomers exist in both complexes. All calculations for the SO2-HF complex indicated that the cis form is more stable in energy than the trans form. On the other hand, in O3-HF complexes, the stable structures are changed by the ab initio levels of theory used, and the energies of the cis and trans forms are close to each other. From the most sophisticated calculations (QCISD(T)/6-311++G(d,p)//QCISD/6-311+G(d) level), it was predicted that the complex formation energies for cis SO2-HF, trans SO2-HF, cis O3-HF, and trans O3-HF are 6.1, 5.7, 3.4, and 3.6 kcal/mol, respectively, indicating that the binding energy of HF to SO2 is larger than that of O3. The harmonic vibrational frequencies calculated for cis O3-HF and cis SO2-HF complexes were in good agreement with the experimental values measured by Andrews et al. Also, the calculated rotation constants for cis SO2-HF agreed with the experiment.  相似文献

The geometries, harmonic vibrational frequencies, relative energetics, and enthalpies of formation of (HIO3) isomers have been examined using quantum mechanical methods. At all levels of theory employed, MP2, B3LYP, and CCSD(T), the lowest energy structure is found to be the HOIO2 form, which shows particular stability. The two isomers HOOOI and HOOIO are closely located at the CCSD(T) level of theory. The higher energy structure is HIO3. The interisomerization transition states have been determined, along with the transition states involved in the various pathways of the reaction HO2 + IO.  相似文献

Using molecular dynamics configurational sampling combined with ab initio energy calculations, we determined the low energy isomers of the bisulfate hydrates. We calculated the CCSD(T) complete basis set (CBS) binding electronic and Gibbs free energies for 53 low energy isomers of HSO(4)(-)(H(2)O)(n=1-6) and derived the thermodynamics of adding waters sequentially to the bisulfate ion and its hydrates. Comparing the HSO(4)(-)/H(2)O system to the neutral H(2)SO(4)/H(2)O cluster, water binds more strongly to the anion than it does to the neutral molecules. The difference in the binding thermodynamics of HSO(4)(-)/H(2)O and H(2)SO(4)/H(2)O systems decreases with increasing number of waters. The thermodynamics for the formation of HSO(4)(-)(H(2)O)(n=1-5) is favorable at 298.15 K, and that of HSO(4)(-)(H(2)O)(n=1-6) is favorable for T < 273.15 K. The HSO(4)(-) ion is almost always hydrated at temperatures and relative humidity values encountered in the troposphere. Because the bisulfate ion binds more strongly to sulfuric acid than it does to water, it is expected to play a role in ion-induced nucleation by forming a strong complex with sulfuric acid and water, thus facilitating the formation of a critical nucleus.  相似文献

The reaction mechanism of OBrO with OH has been studied using the B3LYP/6-311 G(d,p) and the high-level electron-correlation CCSD(T)/6-311 G(d,p) at single-point. The results show that the title reaction could probably proceed by four possible schemes, generating HOBr O2, HBr O3, BrO HO2 and HOBrO2 products, respectively. The main channel is the one to yield HOBr O2. The whole reaction involves the formation of three-membered, four-membered and five-membered rings, followed by the complicated processes of association,H-shift, Br-shift and dissociation. All routes are exothermic.  相似文献

Compounds containing the sulfur triple bonding have continued to attract chemists’ attention. In this article, with an attempt to predict intrinsically stable species with sulfur-related triple bonding, we report a thorough computational study of two charged systems [B,C,O,S]+ and [B,C,O,S]? at the CCSD(T)/aug-cc-pVTZ//B3LYP/6-311+G(3df,2p)+ZPVE level for singlet and triplet potential energy surfaces, aug-cc-pVTZ-B3LYP, M06-2X, and CCSD(T) levels for critical structures, as well as the CCSD(T)/aug-cc-pVQZ and G4 levels for adiabatic bond dissociation energy (ABDE). A total of 26 isomers and 25 transition states were located. The cationic and anionic [B,C,O,S] have the singlet and triplet ground states, respectively. For both systems, the former low-lying isomers are the linear SCBO+/? 01 and SBCO+/? 02, both of which contain the S≡X (X = C, B) bonding and are kinetically very stable against interconversion and fragmentation. With the increased valence electron number in the order of SCBO/SBCO+ < SCBO/SBCO < SCBO/SBCO?, the SX bond distance elongates as 1.5653 < 1.6126 < 1.6924 Å for X = B and 1.4715 < 1.5319 < 1.6100 Å for X = C at the M06-2X/aug-cc-pVTZ level. Notably, SBCO+ bears the shortest S≡B bond known to date, while SCBO+ bears the shortest S≡C bond among the known classical and non-protonated compounds (the well-known F3SCCF3 and F3SCSF5 have been termed as “nonclassical” because of their unusually low ABDE of SC bond). Future mass spectroscopic studies are greatly appealed for the characterization of the cationic and anionic SCBO+/? 01 as well as SBCO+/? 02.  相似文献

The D3d and D2d isomers of the Li3-O-Li3 molecule are metal-nonmetal-metal sandwichlike structures that contain two Li3 superalkali atoms. Their geometries and the real frequencies are obtained at the CCSD(T)/aug-cc-pVDZ level. They are different from the traditional types of the nonmetal-metal-nonmetal sandwich compounds. The natural bond orbital calculation and the topological property nabla2rho(r) calculation indicate that they are typical ionic compounds. In two isomers, the O2- anion is sandwiched in between two Li3+ cation rings. However, the different orientations of two Li3+ planes give the D3d isomer its own special characteristics. Under the action of the O2- anion in the center, the valence electrons of the D3d isomer are pushed out from two Li3+ triangle rings. This special interaction causes three phenomena. First, the valence electron clouds are distended. Second, the vertical ionization energy of the D3d isomer is considerably low, 4.39 eV, so that it may also be viewed as a superalkali atom. Third, we find that the D3d isomer owns the out-of-plane aromaticity and the largest negative nucleus-independent chemical shift value (-10.8 ppm) exists at 2.5 A above the center of the Li3+ ring, not at the center of the Li3+ ring like the isolated aromatic Li3+ cation.  相似文献

Important structural isomers of NH(4) (+)(H(2)O)(n=4,6) have been studied by using density functional theory, Moller-Plesset second order perturbation theory, and coupled-cluster theory with single, double, and perturbative triple excitations [CCSD(T)]. The zero-point energy (ZPE) correction to the complete basis set limit of the CCSD(T) binding energies and free energies is necessary to identify the low energy structures for NH(4) (+)(H(2)O)(n=4,6) because otherwise wrong structures could be assigned for the most probable structures. For NH(4) (+)(H(2)O)(6), the cage-type structure, which is more stable than the previously reported open structure before the ZPE correction, turns out to be less stable after the ZPE correction. In first principles Car-Parrinello molecular dynamics simulations around 100 K, the combined power spectrum of three lowest energy isomers of NH(4) (+)(H(2)O)(4) and two lowest energy isomers of NH(4) (+)(H(2)O)(6) explains each experimental IR spectrum.  相似文献
