ChemInform Abstract: Crystal Structure of the Novel Copper Phosphate Cu3(PO4)2·H2O.

The title compound, obtained in the ternary system CuO₂-P₃O₅-H₂O at 160°C, crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system (C2/c, Z=8).

On the basis of previously reported structural data it is suggested that the so-called crystalline polymorphs of P₂O₅ are in fact three distinct compounds with different structural characteristics but with the same empirical formula.
