Two-photon absorption spectra (2PA) of a series of conjugated dimers and the corresponding monomer were studied in the near-IR region. All of the dimers show very large peak cross section values, sigma(2) = (3-10) x 10(3) GM (1 GM = 1 x 10(-50) cm(4) s photon(-1)), which is several hundred times larger than that obtained for the corresponding monomer in the same region. We explain such dramatic cooperative enhancement by a combination of several factors, such as strong enhancement of the lowest one-photon Q-transition, better resonance conditions in the three-level system, dramatic enhancement of the excited-state singlet-singlet transition, and parallel arrangement of consecutive transitions in dimers, as compared to perpendicular arrangement in the monomer. We show that the absolute values of the 2PA cross section in these molecules are quantitatively described by a quantum-mechanical expression, derived for the three-level model. We also demonstrate the possibility of singlet oxygen generation upon one- and two-photon excitation of these dimers, which makes them particularly attractive for photodynamic therapy.  相似文献

The nature of the broad and intense near-IR (NIR) absorptions of azulenocyanine (H(2)Azc) in the range of 720-1300 nm due to the π→π* transitions is clearly revealed on the basis of density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent DFT (TD-DFT) calculations. The electron moving between peripheral conjugated systems and the eighteen electron-π-conjugated core due to different types of electron transitions has also been clarified. Because of the small gap between the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) of all four H(2)Azc isomers, their Q absorption bands in the region of 850-1300 nm are significantly red-shifted relative to its isoelectronic analogue naphthalocyanine H(2)Nc. Observation of the new absorption bands between Q and Soret bands from 720 to 1050 nm for H(2)Azc is considered to be the result of electron transitions from the fused azulene rings to the 18 electron-π-conjugated core. In addition, the introduction of electron-withdrawing or electron-donating substituents onto the periphery of the azulenocyanine ring is revealed to further reduce the LUMO-HOMO gap, leading to a further red-shifted broad and intense NIR absorption band from 900 to 1700 nm for H(2)(F(8)Azc) and H(2)[(NH(2))(8)Azc].  相似文献

Solution-processable conjugated oligomers incorporating red-light absorbing azadipyrromethenes (aza-DIPY) within the main chain were synthesized via palladium-catalyzed Sonogashira coupling reactions. Thin films of these compounds absorbed light up to ~1000 nm and displayed reversible reductions as ascertained by cyclic voltammetry experiments. Reactions with trifluoroboron etherate yielded materials displaying a unique combination of good solubility in organic solvents, low optical band gaps (~1.3 eV), and high electron affinity (~4.5 eV).  相似文献

A N-annulated perylene unit was successfully fused to the meso- and β-positions of a boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY) core. The newly synthesized BODIPY dye 1b exhibits intensified near-infrared (NIR) absorption and the longest emission maximum ever observed for all BODIPY derivatives. The shape of absorption bands of rhodamine 6G (R6G) and methylene blue (MB) dimers is compared with calculations by the Hemenger theory based on the model of the degenerate ground state (DGS). An interpretation of the origin of long-wave maxima in the spectra of the dimers is proposed from which it follows that their structure belongs to the “sandwich” type with a parallel position of axes of the monomers forming a dimer. Yamamoto homocoupling of two chiral oxindoles led to the atropo-diastereoselective formation of an axially chiral oxindole dimer. This building block served as the starting material for the syntheses of axially chiral squaraine and merocyanine chromophore dimers. These dimers show pronounced chiroptical properties, this is, outstandingly high ECD signals (Δε up to ca. 1500 M−1 cm−1) as a couplet with positive Cotton effect for the P-configuration around the biaryl axis and a negative Cotton effect for the M-configuration. All investigated dimers also exhibit pronounced circularly polarised emission with anisotropy values of ca. 10−3 cgs. Time-dependent density functional calculations were used to analyse the three contributions (local one electron, electric–magnetic coupling, and exciton coupling) to the rotational strength applying the Rosenfeld equation to excitonically coupled chromophores. While the exciton coupling term proves to be the dominant one, the electric–magnetic coupling possesses the same sign and adds significantly to the total rotational strength owing to a favourable geometric arrangement of the two chromophores within the dimer.

From an axially chiral oxindole, squaraine and merocyanine chromophore dimers with pronounced chiroptical properties were prepared.  相似文献

Near-IR oxazine dyes are reported that contain sulfonate esters which are rapidly cleaved by esterase activity to unmask highly polar anionic sulfonates. Strategies for the synthesis of these dyes included the development of milder dye condensation conditions with improved functional compatibility and the use of an alkyl halide that allows for the introduction of esterase-labile sulfonates without the need for sulfonation of the target molecule.  相似文献

The band shapes in the absorption spectra of dimers of cyanine dyes were simulated using a combination of an empirical molecular force field for the ground state with quantum-chemical calculations of the electron excitation energy as a function of normal nuclear coordinates. The shape and the width of an absorption band strongly depend on the mutual arrangement of the monomers. If the monomers are located one directly above the other, the sublevels arising from intramolecular vibrations disappear in the spectrum, and a large hypsochromic shift of the 0-0-transition band is observed, which results mainly from through-space interaction of monomer orbitals. If the monomers are strongly shifted relative to each other, the sublevels mentioned are also absent in the spectrum, but the bathochromic shift of the 0-0-transition band is small and results from interaction of dipole moments of electron transitions. A rather broad region of intermediate structures is found between these dimer forms, where the interaction of dipole moments of electron transitions in monomers is low, and the shapes of absorption bands are similar to those of the monomers.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk.
