We study finitely generated free Heyting algebras from a topological and from a model theoretic point of view. We review Bellissima’s representation of the finitely generated free Heyting algebra; we prove that it yields an embedding in the profinite completion, which is also the completion with respect to a naturally defined metric. We give an algebraic interpretation of the Kripke model used by Bellissima as the principal ideal spectrum and show it to be first order interpretable in the Heyting algebra, from which several model theoretic and algebraic properties are derived. In particular, we prove that a free finitely generated Heyting algebra has only one set of free generators, which is definable in it. As a consequence its automorphism group is the permutation group over its generators.  相似文献

Abstract

Integrals in Hopf algebras are an essential tool in studying finite dimensional Hopf algebras and their action on rings. Over fields it has been shown by Sweedler that the existence of integrals in a Hopf algebra is equivalent to the Hopf algebra being finite dimensional. In this paper we examine how much of this is true Hopf algebras over rings. We show that over any commutative ring R that is not a field there exists a Hopf algebra H over R containing a non-zero integral but not being finitely generated as R-module. On the contrary we show that Sweedler's equivalence is still valid for free Hopf algebras or projective Hopf algebras over integral domains. Analogously for a left H-module algebra A we study the influence of non-zero left A#H-linear maps from A to A#H on H being finitely generated as R-module. Examples and application to separability are given.  相似文献

Abstract

In this paper we construct a cylindrical module A ? ? for an ?-comodule algebra A, where the antipode of the Hopf algebra ? is bijective. We show that the cyclic module associated to the diagonal of A ? ? is isomorphic with the cyclic module of the crossed product algebra A ? ?. This enables us to derive a spectral sequence for the cyclic homology of the crossed product algebra. We also construct a cocylindrical module for Hopf module coalgebras and establish a similar spectral sequence to compute the cyclic cohomology of crossed product coalgebras.  相似文献

The character theory of table algebras is not as good as the character theory of finite groups. We introduce the notion of a table algebra with a central-fusion, in which the character theory has better properties. We study conditions under which a table algebra (A,B) has a central-fusion, and its central-fusion is exactly isomorphic to the wreath product of the central-fusion of a quotient table algebra of (A,B) and another table algebra. As a consequence, we obtain a complete characterization of table algebras with exactly one irreducible character whose degree and multiplicity are not equal. Applications to association schemes are also discussed.  相似文献

Polyadic arithmetics is a branch of mathematics related to p-adic theory. The authors suggest two non-classical models for the Prüfer profinite completion Z of the ring Z. Firstly, letA be the algebra of all periodic functions on Z, then Z can be defined as the ring of all non-zero morphisms A → C with convolution ring operations equipped with some natural topology. Secondly, let (E, μ) be the maximal ideal space for the Banach algebra of almost periodic functions on Z with the Gelfand topology μ. One can define rings operations in (E, μ) which turn it into a topological ring isomorphic to Z.  相似文献

An algebra A is endoprimal if, for all the only maps from A k to A which preserve the endomorphisms of A are its term functions. One method for finding finite endoprimal algebras is via the theory of natural dualities since an endodualisable algebra is necessarily endoprimal. General results on endoprimality and endodualisability are proved and then applied to the varieties of sets, vector spaces, distributive lattices, Boolean algebras, Stone algebras, Heyting algebras, semilattices and abelian groups. In many classes the finite endoprimal algebras turn out to be endodualisable. We show that this fails in general by proving that , regarded as either a bounded semilattice or upper-bounded semilattice is dualisable, endoprimal but not endodualisable. J.R. Holub (1988) [10] introduced the concept of backward shift on Banach spaces. We show that an infinite-dimensional function algebra does not admit a backward shift. Moreover, we define a backward quasi-shift as a weak type of a backward shift, and show that a function algebra A does not admit it, under the assumption that the Choquet boundary of A has at most finitely many isolated points.  相似文献

Let X be a finite dimensional compact metrizable space. We study a technique which employs semiprojectivity as a tool to produce approximations of C(X)-algebras by C(X)-subalgebras with controlled complexity. The following applications are given. All unital separable continuous fields of C*-algebras over X with fibers isomorphic to a fixed Cuntz algebra On, n∈{2,3,…,∞}, are locally trivial. They are trivial if n=2 or n=∞. For n?3 finite, such a field is trivial if and only if (n−1)[A1]=0 in K0(A), where A is the C*-algebra of continuous sections of the field. We give a complete list of the Kirchberg algebras D satisfying the UCT and having finitely generated K-theory groups for which every unital separable continuous field over X with fibers isomorphic to D is automatically locally trivial or trivial. In a more general context, we show that a separable unital continuous field over X with fibers isomorphic to a KK-semiprojective Kirchberg C*-algebra is trivial if and only if it satisfies a K-theoretical Fell type condition.  相似文献

We investigate the lattice of all subvarieties of the variety Df 2 of two-dimensional diagonal-free cylindric algebras. We prove that a Df 2-algebra is finitely representable if it is finitely approximable, characterize finite projective Df 2-algebras, and show that there are no non-trivial injectives and absolute retracts in Df 2. We prove that every proper subvariety of Df 2 is locally finite, and hence Df 2 is hereditarily finitely approximable. We describe all six critical varieties in , which leads to a characterization of finitely generated subvarieties of Df 2. Finally, we describe all square representable and rectangularly representable subvarieties of Df 2. Received May 25, 2000; accepted in final form November 2, 2001.  相似文献

We study ω‐categorical weakly o‐minimal expansions of Boolean lattices. We show that a structure ?? = (A,≤, ?) expanding a Boolean lattice (A,≤) by a finite sequence I of ideals of A closed under the usual Heyting algebra operations is weakly o‐minimal if and only if it is ω‐categorical, and hence if and only if A/I has only finitely many atoms for every I ∈ ?. We propose other related examples of weakly o‐minimal ω‐categorical models in this framework, and we examine the internal structure of these models.  相似文献

For each simply-laced Dynkin graph Δ we realize the simple complex Lie algebra of type Δ as a quotient algebra of the complex degenerate composition Lie algebra of a domestic canonical algebra A of type Δ by some ideal I of that is defined via the Hall algebra of A, and give an explicit form of I. Moreover, we show that each root space of has a basis given by the coset of an indecomposable A-module M with root easily computed by the dimension vector of M. We consider associative PI-algebras over an algebraically closed field of zero characteristic graded by a finite abelian group G. It is proved that in this case the ideal of graded identities of a G-graded finitely generated PI-algebra coincides with the ideal of graded identities of some finite dimensional G-graded algebra. This implies that the ideal of G-graded identities of any (not necessary finitely generated) G-graded PI-algebra coincides with the ideal of G-graded identities of the Grassmann envelope of a finite dimensional (G × ?2)-graded algebra, and is finitely generated as GT-ideal. Similar results take place for ideals of identities with automorphisms.  相似文献

Two finitely generated groups have the same set of finite quotients if and only if their profinite completions are isomorphic. Consider the map which sends (the isomorphism class of) an S-arithmetic group to (the isomorphism class of) its profinite completion. We show that for a wide class of S-arithmetic groups, this map is finite to one, while the fibers are of unbounded size.  相似文献

The Isomorphism Problem for Universal Enveloping Algebras of Lie Algebras   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Let L be a Lie algebra with universal enveloping algebra U(L). We prove that if H is another Lie algebra with the property that U(L) ≅ U(H) then certain invariants of L are inherited by H. For example, we prove that if L is nilpotent then H is nilpotent with the same class as L. We also prove that if L is nilpotent of class at most two then L is isomorphic to H. Presented by D. ABSTRACT

The graded Lie algebra L associated to the Nottingham group with respect to its natural filtration is known to be a loop algebra of the first Witt algebra W 1 . The fact that the Schur multiplier of W 1 , in characteristic p > 3, is one-dimensional implies that L is not finitely presented. Consider the universal covering ? 1 of W 1 and the corresponding loop algebra M of ? 1 . In this paper we prove that M itself is finitely presented for p > 3. In characteristic p >  11 the algebra M turns out to be presented by two relations.  相似文献

We prove that an isometry T between open subgroups of the invertible groups of unital Banach algebras A and B is extended to a real-linear isometry up to translation between these Banach algebras. While a unital isometry between unital semisimple commutative Banach algebras need not be multiplicative, we prove in this paper that if A is commutative and A or B are semisimple, then (T(eA))−1T is extended to an isometric real algebra isomorphism from A onto B. In particular, A−1 is isometric as a metric space to B−1 if and only if they are isometrically isomorphic to each other as metrizable groups if and only if A is isometrically isomorphic to B as a real Banach algebra; it is compared by the example of ?elazko concerning on non-isomorphic Banach algebras with the homeomorphically isomorphic invertible groups. Isometries between open subgroups of the invertible groups of unital closed standard operator algebras on Banach spaces are investigated and their general forms are given.  相似文献

Using covering numbers we prove that a standard real integral table algebra (A, B) with |B| ≥ 6 has a P-polynomial structure with respect to every b ≠ 1 in B if and only if 2|B|-1 is prime and (A, B) is exactly isomorphic to the Bose-Mesner algebra of the association scheme of the ordinary (2|B|-1)-gon. Then we present an example showing that this result is not true if |B| ≤ 5.  相似文献

Let Φ be a finite group and let A be the group algebra of a free abelian group over a field k. We show that, in general, A[Φ] admits nontrivial stably free modules. By contrast, if A is the group algebra of a finitely generated free group then A[Φ] has stably free cancellation.  相似文献
