The structure of mono- and di-O-arylmercury-derivatives of quinizarin (1,4-dihydroxy-9, 10-anthraquinone) and anthrarufin (1,5-dihydroxy-9, 10-anthraquinone) and their reactions with Br, Cl, OH, andtBuO anions in the solid state and in aprotic solvents were examined by vibrational and electron spectroscopy. These reactions result in cleavage of the O-Hg bond. The formation of ions or contact ion pairs depends on the size and nature of the counterion; quinizarin dianions give very strong ion pairs with K+ cations, which do not cleave in DMSO. The electronic and geometrical structure of the ground and low-lying excited states of the SiF n and SiFn series (n = 1-6) are calculated using the density functional method. Energies of fragmentation through different decay channels were evaluated for both series and found to be in good accord with the experimental data and results of nonempirical calculations. The adiabatic electron affinity (EA) of the neutral series is estimated for the first time. The SiF4 anion is shown to be stable toward dissociation though its neutral precursor possesses adiabatic EA close to zero. The SiF5 and SiF6 anions are stable toward dissociation in the gas phase; however, the neutral radical SiF5 is near the stability threshold and SiF6 is unstable as regards dissociation to SiF4+F2. An interesting peculiarity of the silicon fluoride anions is their similar energy of F-detachment, i.e. the affinities of all the neutral SiFn, (n = 0-5) for the fluoride anion are similar.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. Interface water anions composed of several chainlike or cyclic fragments were simulated with a 6‐31++G** basis set at the unrestricted Hartree–Fock level with the second‐order Moeller–Plesset perturbation theory corrections taken into account. The estimated vertical electron detachment energies (VDEs) of (H2O) anions were approximated by a VDE‐n?1/3 dependence close to the experimental one. A hypothesis about the predominant formation of interface structures under conditions of molecular flows is put forward. The atomic population analysis, character of the highest occupied molecular orbital, and changes in the geometry of interface anions with an increase in their molecular size reveal the compact localization of the excess electron density in water clusters and allow evaluating the effective excess‐electron radius of condensed water as 2.5 Å, in good agreement with a similar empirical estimate. The scope of the data obtained shows the relatively low probability of the formation of octahedral hydration shells compared to the tetrahedral coordination of solvating water molecules. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A very diffuse, but spatially confined, electron trapped in a dipole–bound state of a polar molecule provides an excellent target for testing the interaction of a localized electron positioned outside the molecular frame of its host molecule with other atomic or molecular systems. In this work we use ab initio calculations to investigate systems where a dipole–bound electron attached to a uracil molecule is interacting with an N2 molecule and an Ar atom. Neither of the two systems forms a stable anion and in the aducts they form with the dipole–bound electron the electron becomes suspended between the uracil molecule and Ar or N2. Calculations are performed to determine the vertical electron detachment energies of these anions and to determine the molecular rearrangements occurring when the excess electron is removed from them.Contribution to the Jacopo Tomasi Honorary Issue  相似文献

We present a preliminary report on our mass spectrometric and photoelectron spectroscopic studies of zirconium oxide molecular and cluster anions using a newly built laser vaporization/time-of-flight/magnetic bottle, negative ion photoelectron spectrometer. This work was motivated in part by evidence which suggests that zirconium dioxide catalyzes the radiolysis of interfacial water. We present our mass spectrometric observations of oxygen-rich zirconium oxide cluster anions and our photoelectron spectra of ZrO and ZrO 2 . From the photoelectron spectrum of ZrO, the adiabatic electron affinity of ZrO was determined to be 1.3±0.3 eV, and from this value, the dissociation energy of ZrO (into Zr and O) was found to be 7.8±0.3 eV. From the photoelectron spectrum of ZrO2, the adiabatic electron affinity of ZrO2 was determined to be 1.8±0.4 eV.  相似文献

Structures of (H2O) n anions withn≤4 were optimized at the UHF/4-31++G** level and their stability was estimated at the MP2/4-31++G** level. The trimer anion has a chain-like structure while the tetramer anion can exist either in a chain-like or a cyclic configuration. In the dimer anion and in the chain-like anions, the excess electron density is localized on the terminal water molecule, an acceptor of the H-bond proton. In the cyclic anion, it is uniformly distributed over the free hydrogen atoms. All considered anions have energy values higher than those of the corresponding neutral oligomers. The detachment of an electron from the anions should proceed with the liberation of energy. Ozone–water clusters are nonempirically modeled in the complete active space self-consistent field approximation (CASSCF) with the energetic estimates obtained at the multiconfiguration quasidegenerate perturbation theory level (MCQDPT) with 6–31++G** basis set. Coordination of a neutral ozone molecule to small water clusters is either surface or interior, with the binding energy of the order of a weak hydrogen bond. Upon localization of an excess electron, the hydration of ozone becomes strong. The adiabatic affinities of water–ozone clusters and the energies of electron detachment from their anions, depending on the number of water molecules, estimate the electron hydration and vertical electron detachment thresholds of water or ice that superficially coordinates minor amounts of ozone.  相似文献

2.  With chemical ionization (reagent gas isobutane or helium) of N-trifluoroacetylamines, low-stability [M + F] anions are formed. Specific for the primary amines are the anions [M-H] and [M-alkyl]. For the derivatives of secondary amines, the anions [M-alkyl], [M-alkane], and [M-alkyl s-alkene]; for the derivatives of cyclic amines, the anions [M-H] and ions formed as a result of ring cleavage.

The electronic and geometrical structure of phosphorus fluorides PFn, n = 1–5, and their singly-charged negative ions was calculated using the density functional method. Both the ground and low-lying excited states of the two series were considered. The structural parameters of neutral radicals PF2, PF4, and their anions were obtained for the first time. The adiabatic and vertical electron affinities (EA) of the neutral phosphorus fluorides, and the first ionization potentials of the anions were calculated. According to the calculation results, all the phosphorus fluorides have positive EAad, except for PF3, which has an EA of about zero, and requires further investigation. The dissociation energies of both the neutral and negatively charged phosphorus fluorides were calculated through different channels. All the PFn and PF n , n = 1–5, are stable in the gaseous phase. To explore the nature of electron attachment to guanine‐centered DNA single strands in the presence of a polarizable medium, a theoretical investigation of the DNA oligomer dinucleoside phosphate deoxyguanylyl‐3′,5′‐deoxyguanosine (dGpdG) was performed by using density functional theory. Four different electron‐distribution patterns for the radical anions of dGpdG in aqueous solution have been located as local minima on the potential energy surface. The excess electron is found to reside on the proton of the phosphate group (dGpH?dG), or on the phosphate group (dGp.?dG), or on the nucleobase at the 5′ position (dG.?pdG), or on the nucleobase at the 3′ position (dGpdG.?), respectively. These four radical anions are all expected to be electronically viable species under the influence of the polarizable medium. The predicted energetics of the radical anions follows the order dGp.?dG>dG.?pdG>dGpdG.?>dGpH?dG. The base–base stacking pattern in DNA single strands seems unaffected by electron attachment. On the contrary, intrastrand H‐bonding is greatly influenced by electron attachment, especially in the formation of base‐centered radical anions. The intrastrand H‐bonding patterns revealed in this study also suggest that intrastrand proton transfer might be possible between successive guanines due to electron attachment to DNA single strands.  相似文献

The electronic and geometrical structures of carbon fluorochlorides with low coordination numbers (n 3) and their singly charged anions are calculated using the functional density method. The results of the calculations are used to evaluate the electron affinities (EA) of the neutral compounds and the first ionization potentials of the anions as well as the energies of fragmentation through different decay channels of both series. The adiabatic EA of carbon fluorochloride CF k Cl 3–k is shown to be determined mainly by the presence of a CX2 unit in these compounds. The free energy, entropy, and work of formation of H3O+(H2O)n clusters (n=1–27) in water vapor (300 K) were calculated by the Monte Carlo method. Binary correlation functions were calculated. The calculations are based on the nonpair interaction model presented in the previous publication. The hydration shell of the ion is thermally stable in the size range under study. Nonpair interactions exert an essential effect on the structure of the cluster. Fitting the cluster behavior to its experimental thermodynamic characteristics shows that the excess charge of the ion is spatially delocalized at room temperature, and the role of hydrogen bonds is strengthened on this background. Clusters formed on electric charges have such a fundamental characteristic as transition size. The transition size is independent of vapor pressure and demarcates two qualitatively different mechanisms of holding molecules in a cluster. An amorphous Mo–Os–Se carbonyl cluster compound has been synthesized in 1,2-dichlorobenzene (b.p.≈180°C) to be tested as an electrocatalyst for molecular oxygen reduction in 0.5 M H2SO4. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) performed for the powder supported on pyrolytic carbon show a distribution of nanometer-scale amorphous particles with agglomerations in cluster forms. The catalytic activity was studied by the rotating disc electrode technique. Kinetic studies show a first-order reaction with a Tafel slope of −0.118 V dec−1 and dα/dT=1.55×10−3 K−1. In the temperature range 298–343 K, an activation energy of 32 kJ mol−1 was determined.  相似文献

By using a high-resolution electron energy monochromator low-energy electron attachment to gas-phase glycine (H2NCH2COOH, or G) has been studied by means of mass spectrometric detection of the product anions. In the same way as for several other biologically relevant molecules no stable parent anion was formed by free electron attachment. The largest dissociative electron attachment (DEA) cross-section, approximately 5×10–20 m2, was observed for (G–H)+H at an electron energy of 1.25 eV. Glycine and formic acid (HCOOH) have several common features, because a precursor ion can be characterized by electron attachment to the unoccupied * orbital of the –COOH group. At higher incident electron energies several smaller fragment anions are formed. Except for H, which could not be observed in this study, there was good agreement with an earlier investigation by Gohlke et al.  相似文献

Photochemical transformations of phenothiazine (PTA) in solutions of halomethanes CHnX4–n (X = Cl, Br; n = 0, 1, 2) and in n-hexane—CHnX4–n mixtures under the irradiation with = 337 and 365 nm were studied. The rate constants of quenching of PTA fluorescence with halomethanes (k q) are 4·105—1.3·1010 L mol–1 s–1. The process occurs due to electron transfer with the C—X bond cleavage in the radical anion fragment of the primary radical ion pair. This results in the formation of the stable radical cation salt (PTA·+X). The plot of k q vs. free energy of electron transfer corresponds to the Rehm—Weller empirical equation for a one-electron process and is satisfactorily described in terms of the theory of nonradiative electron transitions in the approximation of one quantum vibration.  相似文献

Summary The kinetics of oxidation oftrans-1,2-diaminocyclohexanetetraacetatocobaltate(II), CoIICDTA2–, by periodate were studied using either excess periodate or excess complex concentrations. When periodate was in excess the reaction showed first-order dependence on [IO 4 ] and first-order and second-order dependences on [CoIICDTA2–]. First-order dependence in each reactant was obtained when the complex was in excess. The reaction rate was found to be independent of pH over the range 4–5, but increasing with increasing ionic strength. The enthalpy and the entropy of activation were calculated using the transition state theory equation.  相似文献

The extended Hückel molecular orbital (EHMO) calculations have been carried out using cluster approach to polyoxo anions, i.e. calculations have been done for a single octahedron MO6 of different symmetry and results have been used to analyze 183 W and 17 O NMR spectra. Using five d→d* energy differences for the individual WO6 the sum Σ1/ (EdEd*) have been calculated and plotted against the 183 W chemical shift (from +258 to −670 ppm) for corresponding type of tungsten atom and practically a linear correlation between two parameters have been observed. This points out the electronic nature of the 183 W chemical shift. Similar correlation have been found for the 17O NMR chemical shifts (−90 to +800 ppm) when the plotted against product of the R−3 Σ1/ (EpEp*) where the R−3 bond length of the corresponding W–O bond. Increasing the 183 W nuclear magnetic shielding with the calculated electron population on tungsten atom for closely related anions has been observed, but no general tendency between δ and the calculated electronic charge if the symmetry of polyhedron is changed is expected.  相似文献

In situ near-infrared (NIR) spectroelectrochemical studies during growth and dedoping/redoping of polyaniline (PANI) in the range between 1200 to 3000 nm are carried out in 1 M aqueous solutions of HCl, H2SO4, and HClO4 acids andp-toluene sulfonic acid (PTSA). The results show three characteristic absorption bands around 1440, 1900, and 2500 nm. The band at 2500 nm is characteristic of mobile charge carriers. The PANI prepared in HClO4 keeps memory of the size of the doping anion (ClO4 ) and can be redoped only with the same or smaller anions (Cl and SO4 2– or HSO4 ) while it cannot be redoped to any significant extent by a larger anion (PTSA).  相似文献

The influence of anions ClO4 , NO3 , Cl, SO4 2–, and DDS (dodecyl sulfate) on the cyclic voltammetric response of polypyrrole-modified electrodes is studied. The change in the film composition is examined by electron probe microanalysis. It is established that essential changes in the shape of voltammograms take place during cycling if the anions are not sufficiently freely mobile in the polymer film and insertion of cations from the solution is necessary to guarantee electroneutrality of the system. Some differences between the mobility of Cl ions and ClO4 or NO3 ions are in good agreement with the results of semi-empirical quantum chemical calculations showing that the interaction of Cl and Br ions with pyrrole oligomers is stronger than that of NO3 or ClO4 ions. Nevertheless, it is established that the peak current determined from voltammograms increases linearly with the increase of the scan rate with very high correlation coefficient. It means that it is possible to describe the behavior of ClO4 , NO3 and Cl ions in the framework of the model of free ions. The redox behavior of the PPy films doped with anions of low mobility such as SO4 2– and DDS depends essentially on the nature of cations in the test solution. It is found that the mobility of cations increases in the row Li+ < Na+ < K+ < Cs+. The mobility of DDS ions in the PPy in ethanolic solution is significantly higher and their electrochemical properties are quite similar to PPy|Cl or NO3 film in aqueous solution.  相似文献

Lamellar single crystals of some regio-selectively substituted cellulose hetero-esters: cellulose propionate diacetate (CPDA, 2,3-di-O-acetyl-6-O-propionyl cellulose), cellulose acetate dipropionate (CADP, 6-O-acetyl-2,3-di-O-propionyl cellulose), cellulose butyrate diacetate (CBDA, 2,3-di-O-acetyl-6-O-butyryl cellulose) and cellulose acetate dibutyrate (CADB, 6-O-acetyl-2,3-di-O-butyryl cellulose), have been prepared at high temperature in a mixture of dibenzyl ether andn-tetradecane. The CPDA crystals were lozenge-shaped whereas those of CADP, CBDA and CADB had a ribbon morphology. CPDA crystals gave well-resolved electron diffractograms from which the reciprocal lattice parameters a*=0.807 nm–1,b *=0.400 nm–1 and *=90° could be determined. Systematic absences occurred at every odd reflection along the two orthogonal axesa *andb *. Thus, the CPDA diffraction pattern is consistent with a pgg symmetry. For CADP, the electron diffraction pattern is consistent with a pmg two-dimensional space group withb the unique axis along the ribbon direction. The diagram yields the reciprocal lattice parameters a* = 0.902 nm–1,b *=0.651 nm–1 and *=90°. The CBDA electron diffractogram yields the following cell parameters and two-dimensional space group:a *=0.482 nm–1,b *=0.659 nm–1 and *=90°, and a pgg symmetry; and that of CADB:a *=0.834 nm–1,b *=0.645 nm–1 and *=90°, and a pmg symmetry.  相似文献
