A multiplicity result for the singular ordinary differential equation y+λx−2yσ=0, posed in the interval (0,1), with the boundary conditions y(0)=0 and y(1)=γ, where σ>1, λ>0 and γ?0 are real parameters, is presented. Using a logarithmic transformation and an integral equation method, we show that there exists Σ?∈(0,σ/2] such that a solution to the above problem is possible if and only if λγσ−1?Σ?. For 0<λγσ−1<Σ?, there are multiple positive solutions, while if γ=(λ−1Σ?)1/(σ−1) the problem has a unique positive solution which is monotonic increasing. The asymptotic behavior of y(x) as x0+ is also given, which allows us to establish the absence of positive solution to the singular Dirichlet elliptic problem −Δu=d−2(x)uσ in Ω, where ΩRN, N?2, is a smooth bounded domain and d(x)=dist(x,∂Ω).  相似文献

In this paper we establish existence-uniqueness of solution of a class of singular boundary value problem −(p(x)y(x))=q(x)f(x,y) for 0<x?b and y(0)=a, α1y(b)+β1y(b)=γ1, where p(x) satisfies (i) p(x)>0 in (0,b), (ii) p(x)∈C1(0,r), and for some r>b, (iii) is analytic in and q(x) satisfies (i) q(x)>0 in (0,b), (ii) q(x)∈L1(0,b) and for some r>b, (iii) is analytic in with quite general conditions on f(x,y). We consider the boundary value problems: (?p(x(t)))+q(t)f(t,x(t),x(t−1),x(t))=0, ?p(s)=|s|p−2s, p>1, t∈(0,1), subject to some boundary conditions. By using a generalization of the Leggett-Williams fixed-point theorem due to Avery and Peterson, we provide sufficient conditions for the existence of at least three positive solutions to the above problems.  相似文献

We consider entire solutions of ut=uxx-f(u), i.e. solutions that exist for all (x,t)∈R2, where f(0)=f(1)=0<f(0). In particular, we are interested in the entire solutions which behave as two opposite wave fronts of positive speed(s) approaching each other from both sides of the x-axis and then annihilating in a finite time. In the case f(1)>0, we show that such entire solution exists and is unique up to space-time translations. In the case f(1)<0, we derive two families of such entire solutions. In the first family, one cannot be any space-time translation of the other. Yet all entire solutions in the second family only differ by a space-time translation.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the existence of multiple positive solutions to some Hamiltonian elliptic systems −Δv=λu+up+εf(x), −Δu=μv+vq+δg(x) in Ω;u,v>0 in Ω; u=v=0 on ∂Ω, where Ω is a bounded domain in RN (N?3); 0?f, g∈L∞(Ω); 1/(p+1)+1/(q+1)=(N−2)/N, p,q>1; λ,μ>0. Using sub- and supersolution method and based on an adaptation of the dual variational approach, we prove the existence of at least two nontrivial positive solutions for all λ,μ∈(0,λ1) and ε,δ∈(0,δ0), where λ1 is the first eigenvalue of the Laplace operator −Δ with zero Dirichlet boundary conditions and δ0 is a positive number.  相似文献

We study the oscillation problems for the second order half-linear differential equation [p(t)Φ(x)]+q(t)Φ(x)=0, where Φ(u)=|u|r−1u with r>0, 1/p and q are locally integrable on R+; p>0, q?0 a.e. on R+, and . We establish new criteria for this equation to be nonoscillatory and oscillatory, respectively. When p≡1, our results are complete extensions of work by Huang [C. Huang, Oscillation and nonoscillation for second order linear differential equations, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 210 (1997) 712-723] and by Wong [J.S.W. Wong, Remarks on a paper of C. Huang, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 291 (2004) 180-188] on linear equations to the half-linear case for all r>0. These results provide corrections to the wrongly established results in [J. Jiang, Oscillation and nonoscillation for second order quasilinear differential equations, Math. Sci. Res. Hot-Line 4 (6) (2000) 39-47] on nonoscillation when 0<r<1 and on oscillation when r>1. The approach in this paper can also be used to fully extend Elbert's criteria on linear equations to half-linear equations which will cover and improve a partial extension by Yang [X. Yang, Oscillation/nonoscillation criteria for quasilinear differential equations, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 298 (2004) 363-373].  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the existence and nonexistence of positive solutions of the second-order nonlinear dynamic equation uΔΔ(t)+λa(t)f(u(σ(t)))=0, t∈[0,1], satisfying either the conjugate boundary conditions u(0)=u(σ(1))=0 or the right focal boundary conditions u(0)=uΔ(σ(1))=0, where a and f are positive. We show that there exists a λ>0 such that the above boundary value problem has at least two, one and no positive solutions for 0<λ<λ, λ=λ and λ>λ, respectively. Furthermore, by using the semiorder method on cones of the Banach space, we establish an existence and uniqueness criterion for positive solution of the problem. In particular, such a positive solution uλ(t) of the problem depends continuously on the parameter λ, i.e., uλ(t) is nondecreasing in λ, limλ0+uλ‖=0 and limλ→+∞‖uλ‖=+∞.  相似文献

We study the long time behavior of solutions for damped wave equations with absorption. These equations are generally accepted as models of wave propagation in heterogeneous media with space-time dependent friction a(t,x)ut and nonlinear absorption |u|p−1u (Ikawa (2000) [17]). We consider 1<p<(n+2)/(n−2) and separable a(t,x)=λ(x)η(t) with λ(x)∼(1+|x|)α and η(t)∼(1+t)β satisfying conditions (A1) or (A2) which are given. The main results are precise decay estimates for the energy, L2 and Lp+1 norms of solutions. We also observe the following behavior: if α∈[0,1), β∈(−1,1) and 0<α+β<1, there are three different regions for the decay of solutions depending on p; if α∈(−,0) and β∈(−1,1), there are only two different regions for the decay of the solutions depending on p.  相似文献

We study the existence, nonexistence and multiplicity of positive solutions for a family of problems −Δpu=fλ(x,u), , where Ω is a bounded domain in RN, N>p, and λ>0 is a parameter. The family we consider includes the well-known nonlinearities of Ambrosetti-Brezis-Cerami type in a more general form, namely λa(x)uq+b(x)ur, where 0?q<p−1<r?p−1. Here the coefficient a(x) is assumed to be nonnegative but b(x) is allowed to change sign, even in the critical case. Preliminary results of independent interest include the extension to the p-Laplacian context of the Brezis-Nirenberg result on local minimization in and , a C1,α estimate for equations of the form −Δpu=h(x,u) with h of critical growth, a strong comparison result for the p-Laplacian, and a variational approach to the method of upper-lower solutions for the p-Laplacian.  相似文献

So the problem may be doubly singular. In this paper we examine existence of monotone approximations of solutions of singular boundary value problem -(p(x)y(x))=q(x)f(x,y,py) for 0<x?b and limx→0+p(x)y(x)=0,α1y(b)+β1p(b)y(b)=γ1. Under quite general conditions on f(x,y,py) we show that solution of the singular two point boundary value problem is unique.
