Let M be a complete m-dimensional Riemannian manifold with cyclic holonomy group, let X be a closed flat manifold homotopy equivalent to M, and let LX be a nontrivial line bundle over X whose total space is a flat manifold with cyclic holonomy group. We prove that either M is diffeomorphic to X×Rm-dimX or M is diffeomorphic to L×Rm-dimX−1.  相似文献

It is shown that every Euclidean manifold M has the following property for any m?1: If f:XY is a perfect surjection between finite-dimensional metric spaces, then the mapping space C(X,M) with the source limitation topology contains a dense Gδ-subset of maps g such that dimBm(g)?mdimf+dimY−(m−1)dimM. Here, Bm(g)={(y,z)∈Y×M||f−1(y)∩g−1(z)|?m}. The existence of residual sets of finite-to-one maps into product of manifolds and spaces having disjoint disks properties is also obtained.  相似文献

We study fundamental groups of noncompact Riemannian manifolds. We find conditions which ensure that the fundamental group is trivial, finite or finitely generated.  相似文献

We study in this paper previously defined by V.N. Berestovskii and C.P. Plaut δ-homogeneous spaces in the case of Riemannian manifolds and prove that they constitute a new proper subclass of geodesic orbit (g.o.) spaces with non-negative sectional curvature, which properly includes the class of all normal homogeneous Riemannian spaces.  相似文献

We prove that a partially hyperbolic attractor with two-dimensional central direction Λ is a homoclinic class if it exhibits a hyperbolic periodic orbit O and a Lorenz-like singularity σ with Wu(σ)∩Ws(O)≠∅ such that Ws(σ) is dense in Λ.  相似文献

In this paper we initiate the study of Lagrangian submanifolds in para-Kähler manifolds. In particular, we prove two general optimal inequalities for Lagrangian submanifolds of the flat para-Kähler manifold . Moreover, we completely classify Lagrangian submanifolds which satisfy the equality case of one of the two inequalities.  相似文献

We prove the Hijazi inequality, an estimate for Dirac eigenvalues, for complete manifolds of finite volume. Under some additional assumptions on the dimension and the scalar curvature, this inequality is also valid for elements of the essential spectrum. This allows to prove the conformal version of the Hijazi inequality on conformally parabolic manifolds if the spin analog to the Yamabe invariant is positive.  相似文献

The authors give a short survey of previous results on generalized normal homogeneous (δ-homogeneous, in other terms) Riemannian manifolds, forming a new proper subclass of geodesic orbit spaces with nonnegative sectional curvature, which properly includes the class of all normal homogeneous Riemannian manifolds. As a continuation and an application of these results, they prove that the family of all compact simply connected indecomposable generalized normal homogeneous Riemannian manifolds with positive Euler characteristic, which are not normal homogeneous, consists exactly of all generalized flag manifolds Sp(l)/U(1)⋅Sp(l−1)=CP2l−1, l?2, supplied with invariant Riemannian metrics of positive sectional curvature with the pinching constants (the ratio of the minimal sectional curvature to the maximal one) in the open interval (1/16,1/4). This implies very unusual geometric properties of the adjoint representation of Sp(l), l?2. Some unsolved questions are suggested.  相似文献

In this paper we use the standard formula for the Laplacian of the squared norm of the second fundamental form and the asymptotic maximum principle of H. Omori and S.T. Yau to classify complete CMC spacelike hypersurfaces of a Lorentz ambient space of nonnegative constant sectional curvature, under appropriate bounds on the scalar curvature.  相似文献

In this paper we give a realization of some symmetric space G/K as a closed submanifold P of G. We also give several equivalent representations of the submanifold P. Some properties of the set gKP are also discussed, where gK is a coset space in G.  相似文献

By using harmonic analysis and representation theory, we determine explicitly the L2 spectrum of the Hodge-de Rham Laplacian acting on quaternionic hyperbolic spaces and we show that the unique possible discrete eigenvalue and the lowest continuous eigenvalue can both be realized by some subspace of hypereffective differential forms. Similar results are obtained also for the Bochner Laplacian.  相似文献

In this paper we generalize a result in [J. An, Z. Wang, On the realization of Riemannian symmetric spaces in Lie groups, Topology Appl. 153 (7) (2005) 1008-1015, showing that an arbitrary Riemannian symmetric space can be realized as a closed submanifold of a covering group of the Lie group defining the symmetric space. Some properties of the subgroups of fixed points of involutions are also proved.  相似文献

In this paper we discuss the instability of harmonic foliations on compact submanifolds immersed in Euclidean spaces and compact homogeneous spaces. We obtain a sufficient condition for a harmonic foliation to be unstable on compact submanifolds in a Euclidean space and on compact isotropy irreducible homogeneous spaces. We also classify compact symmetric spaces which have no non-trivial stable harmonic foliation.  相似文献

The conformal class of a Hermitian metric g on a compact almost complex manifold (M2m, J) consists entirely of metrics that are Hermitian with respect to J. For each one of these metrics, we may define a J-twisted version of the Ricci curvature, the J-Ricci curvature, and its corresponding trace, the J-scalar curvature sJ. We ask if the conformal class of g carries a metric with constant sJ, an almost Hermitian version of the usual Yamabe problem posed for the scalar curvature s. We answer our question in the affirmative. In fact, we show that (2m−1)sJ−s=2(2m−1)W(ω, ω), where W is the Weyl tensor and ω is the fundamental form of g. Using techniques developed for the solution of the problem for s, we construct an almost Hermitian Yamabe functional and its corresponding conformal invariant. This invariant is bounded from above by a constant that only depends on the dimension of M, and when it is strictly less than the universal bound, the problem has a solution that minimizes the almost complex Yamabe functional. By the relation above, we see that when W (ω, ω) is negative at least one point, or identically zero, our problem has a solution that minimizes the almost Hermitian Yamabe functional, and the universal bound is reached only in the case of the standard 6-sphere equipped with a suitable almost complex structure. When W(ω, ω) is non-negative and not identically zero, we prove that the conformal invariant is strictly less than the universal bound, thus solving the problem for this type of manifolds as well. We discuss some applications.  相似文献

In this paper, we give a sufficient condition for both the relative K-stability and the properness of modified K-energy associated to Calabi's extremal metrics on toric manifolds. In addition, several examples of toric manifolds which satisfy the sufficient condition are presented.  相似文献

It is well known that if the tangent bundle TM of a Riemannian manifold (M,g) is endowed with the Sasaki metric gs, then the flatness property on TM is inherited by the base manifold [Kowalski, J. Reine Angew. Math. 250 (1971) 124-129]. This motivates us to the general question if the flatness and also other simple geometrical properties remain “hereditary” if we replace gs by the most general Riemannian “g-natural metric” on TM (see [Kowalski and Sekizawa, Bull. Tokyo Gakugei Univ. (4) 40 (1988) 1-29; Abbassi and Sarih, Arch. Math. (Brno), submitted for publication]). In this direction, we prove that if (TM,G) is flat, or locally symmetric, or of constant sectional curvature, or of constant scalar curvature, or an Einstein manifold, respectively, then (M,g) possesses the same property, respectively. We also give explicit examples of g-natural metrics of arbitrary constant scalar curvature on TM.  相似文献

By using a certain second order differential equation, the notion of adapted coordinates on Finsler manifolds is defined and some classifications of complete Finsler manifolds are found. Some examples of Finsler metrics, with positive constant sectional curvature, not necessarily of Randers type nor projectively flat, are found. This work generalizes some results in Riemannian geometry and open up, a vast area of research on Finsler geometry.  相似文献

In this paper we give criteria on integral kernels ensuring that integral operators on compact manifolds belong to Schatten classes. A specific test for nuclearity is established as well as the corresponding trace formulae. In the special case of compact Lie groups, kernel criteria in terms of (locally and globally) hypoelliptic operators are also given.  相似文献
