We introduce the notions of a pre--set and a pre-V-set in a topological space. We study the fundamental properties of pre--sets and pre-V-sets and investigate the topologies defined by these families of sets.  相似文献

In this paper we present a study of spaces of splines in C k (R 2) with supports the square 1 and the lozenge 1 formed respectively by four and eight triangles of the uniform four directional mesh of the plane. Such splines are called 1 and 1-splines. We first compute the dimension of the space of 1-splines. Then we prove the existence of a unique 1-spline of minimal degree for any fixed k0. By using this last result, we also prove the existence of a unique 1-spline of minimal degree. Finally, we describe algorithms allowing to compute the Bernstein–Bézier coefficients of 1-spline and 1-spline of minimal degree.  相似文献

For a Köthe sequence space, the classes of 0-nuclear spaces and spaces with the 0-property are introduced and studied and the relation between them is investigated. Also, we show that, for 0c 0, these classes of spaces are in general different from the corresponding ones for 0=c 0, which have been extensively studied in the non-archimedean literature (see, for example, [1]–[6]).  相似文献

Employing Bak's dimension theory, we investigate the nonstable quadratic K-group K 1,2n (A, ) = G 2n (A, )/E 2n (A, ), n 3, where G 2n (A, ) denotes the general quadratic group of rank n over a form ring (A, ) and E 2n (A, ) its elementary subgroup. Considering form rings as a category with dimension in the sense of Bak, we obtain a dimension filtration G 2n (A, ) G 2n 0(A, ) ; G 2n 1(A, ) ... E 2n (A, ) of the general quadratic group G 2n (A, ) such that G 2n (A, )/G 2n 0(A, ) is Abelian, G 2n 0(A, ) G 2n 1(A, ) ... is a descending central series, and G 2n d(A)(A, ) = E 2n (A, ) whenever d(A) = (Bass–Serre dimension of A) is finite. In particular K 1,2n (A, ) is solvable when d(A) < .  相似文献

This paper initiates a general study of the spectrum of two-particle bound states of transfer matrices for a fairly wide class of Gibbs fields at high temperature T. In the present first part of this study, a detailed statement of the problem is given and the existence of a so-called "isolated level" lying at a distance 1/T 2 from the boundary of the continuous spectrum is established for all values of the total quasimomentum of the system. In the concluding part of the paper, we prove that there are no other bound states provided that is far from certain singular values. In the second part, we will consider bound states for close to the singular values. The distance from these states (adjacent levels, in the authors' terminology) to the continuous spectrum is at most of the order of 1/T 4.  相似文献

The general quadratic group GQ 2n and its elementary subgroup EQ 2n are analogs in the theory of quadratic forms of the general linear group GL n and its elementary subgroup E n . This article proves that the stabilization map GQ 2n /EQ 2n GQ 2(n+1) /EQ 2(n+1) is an isomorphism whenever n +1 and S denotes the -stable rank of rings with anti-involution. As a corollary, a result is obtained which has been anticipated since the late 1960s: over rings of finite Bass–Serre dimension d, the stabilization map is an isomorphism whenever n d + 2.  相似文献

This paper deals with the analytical properties of -convex functions, which are defined as those functions satisfying the inequalityf(x 1 )+f(x 2 )f(x 1)+f(x 2), forx i [x 1,x 2], |x i x i |=, i=1,2, whenever |x 1x 2|>, for some given positive . This class contains all convex functions and all periodic functions with period . In general, -convex functions do not have ideal properties as convex functions. For instance, there exist -convex functions which are totally discontinuous or not locally bounded. But -convex functions possess so-called conservation properties, meaning good properties which remain true on every bounded interval or even on the entire domain, if only they hold true on an arbitrary closed interval with length . It is shown that boundedness, bounded variation, integrability, continuity, and differentiability almost everywhere are conservation properties of -convex functions on the real line. However, -convex functions have also infection properties, meaning bad properties which propagate to other points, once they appear somewhere (for example, discontinuity). Some equivalent properties of -convexity are given. Ways for generating and representing -convex functions are described. This research was supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft. We construct a Rankin Selberg integral to represent the exterior cube L function L(,3,s) of an automorphic cuspidal module of GL6( F ) (where F is a number field). We determine the poles of this L function and find period conditions for the special value L(,3,1/2). We use the Siegal Weil formula. We also state an analogue of the Gross–Prasad conjecture concerning a criterion for the nonvanishing of L(,3,1/2).  相似文献

Summary The paper concerns solution manifolds of nonlinear parameterdependent equations (1)F(u, )=y0 involving a Fredholm operatorF between (infinite-dimensional) Banach spacesX=Z× andY, and a finitedimensional parameter space . Differntial-geometric ideas are used to discuss the connection between augmented equations and certain onedimensional submanifolds produced by numerical path-tracing procedures. Then, for arbitrary (finite) dimension of , estimates of the error between the solution manifold of (1) and its discretizations are developed. These estimates are shown to be applicable to rather general nonlinear boundaryvalue problems for partial differential equations. This work was in part supported by the U.S. Air Force Office of Scientific Research under Grant 80-0176, the National Science Foundation under Grant MCS-78-05299, and the Office of Naval Research under Contract N-00014-80-C-0455  相似文献

We determine the exact order of -complexity of the numerical integration problem for the anisotropic class Wr(Id) and Hr(Id) with respect to the worst case randomized methods and the average case deterministic methods. We prove this result by developing a decomposition technique of Borel measure on unit cube of d-dimensional Euclidean space. Moreover by the imbedding relationship between function classes we extend our results to the classes of functions Wp(Id) and Hp(Id). By the way we highlight some typical results and stress the importance of some open problems related to the complexity of numerical integration. For , a discrete infinite set of nonnegative real numbers, and a nonnegative measurable function f: R R +, consider . The sets naturally break into two types. Type 1 consists of such that either C = R almost everywhere or else C = Ø a.e., for every f. Type 2 consists of all the other . We introduce a notion of asymptotic density for and the complementary notion of asymptotic lacunarity. We demonstrate that is of type 2 if it is asymptotically lacunary or else is asymptotically dense and exhibits asymptotically large Q-independent sets. We also give some examples of sets of both types.  相似文献

We give here a rigorous formulation for a pair of consecutive simple positive zeros of the functionH 0 (which is closely related to the Riemann -function) to be a Lehmer pair of zeros ofH 0. With this formulation, we establish that each such pair of zeros gives a lower bound for the de Bruijn-Newman constant (where the Riemann Hypothesis is equivalent to the assertion that 0). We also numerically obtain the following new lower bound for :

We consider the M/M/ queue with arrival rate , service rate and traffic intensity =/. We analyze the first passage distribution of the time the number of customers N(t) reaches the level c, starting from N(0)=m>c. If m=c+1 we refer to this time period as the congestion period above the level c. We give detailed asymptotic expansions for the distribution of this first passage time for , various ranges of m and c, and several different time scales. Numerical studies back up the asymptotic results.  相似文献

Motivated by the known characterizations of equicontinuity in the dual of a Schwartz space, a nuclear space, or a strongly nuclear space,we introduce the concepts of a -sequence and of a ()-sequence in the dual of an arbitrary lcs [E,], and we investigate the corresponding topologies and () on E of uniform convergence on these sequences. Here is a normal sequence space such that . Under favorable enough conditions on , including the nuclearity of its normal topology , [,] acts as a universal generator for those lcs [E,] which satisfy =. Under somewhat weaker assumptions on , [,()] is a universal generator for the lcs [E,] with =(). These results cover e.g. the cases of -nuclear spaces and of nuclear spaces known from the recent literature. As an application we show that every non-trivial ultrabornological lcs is representable as an inductive limit of isomorphic copies of [, ( , )], where is any nuclear power series space of infinite type with stable exponent sequence.  相似文献

A result on the homological determinacy of the p-adic representations of semisimple rings with power basis is extended to nonsemisimple rings. We construct a category whose in-decomposable objects are in one-to-one correspondence with indecomposable -modules that are free and finitely generated over and different from certain completely defined -modules with one generator. With the help of our result, we describe the indecomposable p-adic representations of the ring =Zp [x]/((1–x)2 (1 + x +...+ x)p–1).Translated from Matematicheskie Zametki, Vol. 14, No. 3, pp. 407–417, September, 1973.The author thanks A. We consider an M/M/ model with m primary servers and infinitely many secondary ones. An arriving customer takes a primary server, if one is available. We derive integral representations for the joint steady state distribution of the number of occupied primary and secondary servers. Letting =/ be the ratio of arrival and service rates (all servers work at rate ), we study the joint distribution asymptotically for . We consider both m=O(1) and m scaled to be of the same order as . We also give results for the marginal distribution of the number of secondary servers that are occupied.  相似文献
