Heat transfer with steam condensation under moderate pressure on the surface of a horizontal tube immersed in a bubbling layer was experimentally investigated. A copper test section 16 mm in outer diameter and 400 mm in length was placed in a bubbling column 455 mm in diameter. Experiments were made under pressures of 0.14–0.8 MPa, with void fraction 0.04–0.23, vapor superficial velocities 0.05–0.42 m/s, liquid-wall temperature differences 47–105 K, and heat flux densities 0.12–0.8 MW/m2. The heat transfer process in the bubbling layer is shown to be of a high intensity: with moderate values of steam content, heat transfer coefficients reach 12–14 kW/(m2 · K). Data obtained showed that the known correlations do not consider the influence of pressure on heat transfer. For the first time, data on radial steam content distribution under pressures higher than atmospheric were obtained by an electroprobe method. A table of experimental data is presented.  相似文献

Two-phase friction and heat transfer characteristics for R-22/R-407C inside a 6.5-mm smooth tube are reported in this study. The heat transfer results for G=100 and 400 kg/m2 s were reported in the present study, and the adiabatic frictional pressure drop was recorded in the range of 100 to 700 kg/m2 s. It is found that the development of flow pattern for R-407C falls behind R-22. This may explain the lower pressure drops for R-407C. The major heat transfer mechanism at low mass flux is nucleate boiling, and virtually becomes the convective evaporation as mass flux increase to G=400 krg/m2 s, Meanwhile, the reduction of heat transfer coefficients for R-407C mixtures are especially profound at low mass flux, and the reduction of heat transfer coefficient decreases with the increase of mass flux.  相似文献

In the present experimental study, a correlation is proposed to represent the heat transfer coefficients of the boiling flows through horizontal rectangular channels with low aspect ratios. The gap between the upper and the lower plates of each channel ranges from 0.4 to 2 mm while the channel width being fixed to 20 mm. Refrigerant 113 was used as the test fluid. The mass flux ranges from 50 to 200 kg/m2 s and the channel walls were uniformly heated up to 15 kW/m2. The quality range covers from 0.15 to 0.75 and the flow pattern appeared to be annular. The modified Lockhart–Martinelli correlation for the frictional pressure drop was confirmed to be within an accuracy of ±20%. The heat transfer coefficients increase with the mass flux and the local quality; however the effect of the heat flux appears to be minor. At the low mass flux condition, which is more likely to be with the smaller gap size, the heat transfer rate is primarily controlled by the liquid film thickness. A modified form of the enhancement factor F for the heat transfer coefficient in the range of ReLF200 well correlates the experimental data within the deviation of ±20%. The Kandlikar's flow boiling correlation covers the higher mass flux range (ReLF>200) with 10.7% mean deviation.  相似文献

An original experimental investigation of heat transfer with steam condensation on a surface of a horizontal cooled tube immersed in a bubbling layer was carried out. A copper test section 16 mm in diameter and 285 mm in length was placed in a bubbling column 295 mm in diameter. Experiments were made under a pressure of 0.72-3.8 MPa with volume steam content 0-0.18, steam superficial velocities 0-0.18 m/s, and liquid-wall temperature difference 38–106 K. The heat transfer process in a bubbling layer under high pressures is shown to be of considerably intensity; with moderate values of steam content heat transfer coefficients reach 10–12 kW/(m2·K). The use of the known correlations assumed for the case of air bubbling under atmospheric pressure results in systematically underestimating heat transfer by 30–80%. Data were obtained on heat transfer with film condensation of steam and natural convection of subcooled water at high temperature differences outside the range investigated earlier. Experimental data table is appended.  相似文献

By using unique experimental techniques and carefully constructed experimental apparatus, the characteristics of flow boiling of water in microscale were investigated using a single horizontal rectangular microchannel. A polydimethylsiloxane rectangular microchannel (Dh = 103.5 and 133 μm) was fabricated by using the replica molding technique, a kind of soft lithography. A piecewise serpentine platinum microheater array on a Pyrex substrate was fabricated with the surface micromachining MEMS technique. Real time flow visualization of the phase change phenomena inside the microchannel was performed using a high speed CCD camera with microscope. The experimental local boiling heat transfer coefficients were studied, and single bubble inception, growth, and departure, as well as elongated bubble behavior were analyzed to elucidate the microscale heat transfer mechanisms. Tests were performed for mass fluxes of 77.5, 154.9, and 309.8 kg/m2 s and heat fluxes of 180–500 kW/m2. The effects of mass flux, heat flux, and vapor qualities on flow boiling heat transfer in a microchannel were studied.  相似文献

An experimental investigation has been carried out to find the heat transfer coefficient during condensation of R-134a vapor inside a horizontal tube. Experiments were conducted for the condensation of R-134a inside a plain tube and tubes with different twisted tape inserts. Twisted tapes with different twisted ratios of 6, 9, 12 and 15 were inserted in the refrigerant side, one by one, in the full length of test-condenser. For each inserted tube and the plain tube, test runs were carried out for the mass velocities of 92, 110, 128 and 147 kg/s-m2. An empirical correlation has also been developed to predict the enhanced heat transfer coefficient.  相似文献

A series of tests have been performed to determine the saturated critical heat flux (CHF) in 0.5 and 0.8 mm internal diameter microchannel tubes as a function of refrigerant mass velocity, heated length, saturation temperature and inlet liquid subcooling. The tested refrigerants were R-134a and R-245fa and the heated length of microchannel was varied between 20 and 70 mm. The results show a strong dependence of CHF on mass velocity, heated length and microchannel diameter but no influence of liquid subcooling (2–15 °C) was observed. The experimental results have been compared to the well-known CHF single-channel correlation of Y. Katto and H. Ohno [An improved version of the generalized correlation of critical heat flux for the forced convective boiling in uniformly heated vertical tubes, Int. J. Heat and Mass Transfer 27 (9) (1984) 1641–1648] and the multichannel correlation of W. Qu and I. Mudawar [Measurement and correlation of critical heat flux in two-phase microchannel heat sinks, Int. J. Heat and Mass Transfer 47 (2004) 2045–2059]. The comparison shows that the correlation of Katto–Ohno predicts microchannel data with a mean absolute error of 32.8% with only 41.2% of the data falling within a ±15% error band. The correlation of Qu and Mudawar shows the same trends as the CHF data but significantly overpredicts them. Based on the present experimental data, a new microscale version of the Katto–Ohno correlation for the prediction of CHF during saturated boiling in microchannels has been proposed.  相似文献

Fully developed laminar mixed convection of a nanofluid consists of water and Al2O3 in horizontal and inclined tubes has been studied numerically. Three-dimensional elliptic governing equations have been solved to investigate the flow behaviors over a wide range of the Grashof and Reynolds numbers. Comparisons with previously published experimental and numerical works on mixed convection in a horizontal and inclined tube are performed and good agreements between the results are observed. Effects of nanoparticles concentration and tube inclinations on the hydrodynamics and thermal parameters are presented and discussed. It is shown that the nanoparticles concentration does not have significant effects on the hydrodynamics parameters. Heat transfer coefficient increases by 15% at 4 Vol.% Al2O3. Skin friction coefficient continually increases with the tube inclination, but the heat transfer coefficient reaches a maximum at the inclination angle of 45°.  相似文献

This paper reports an experimental procedure for the determination of the local heat transfer coefficient in the vicinity of the leading edge of a film-cooled gas turbine blade. By invoking the heat-mass transfer analogy, and measuring the sublimation rate of naphthalene, the influence of film coolant ejection on the magnitude of the local transport coefficients is determined. A novel apparatus and experimental technique have been designed to eliminate the need to know the physical properties of the naphthalene. Results of experiments using a ‘relative mass transfer method’ for a blowing rate (injection velocity to mainstream velocity ratio) from 0·2 to 1·0 and a mainstream Reynolds number of 3·48 × 104 are presented and compared with previous heat transfer data.  相似文献

The velocity of elongated vapor bubbles exiting two horizontal micro-evaporator channels with refrigerant R-134a was studied. Experiments with tube diameters of 509 and 790 μm, mass velocities from 200 to 1500 kg/m2 s, vapor qualities from 2% to 19% and a nominal saturation temperature of 30 °C were analyzed with a fast, high-definition digital video camera. It was found from image processing of numerous videos that the elongated bubble velocity relative to that of homogeneous flow increased with increasing bubble length until a plateau was reached, and also increased with increasing channel diameter and increasing mass velocity. Furthermore an analytical model developed for a diabatic two-phase flow, has been proposed that is able to predict these trends. In addition, the model shows that the relative elongated bubble velocity should decrease with increasing pressure, which is consistent with the physics of two-phase flow.  相似文献

Experiments were performed on the condensation of steam from steam-air mixtures in annular flow at a cooled inner tube. The range of investigation was varied for laminar and turbulent flow for 1.5 × 103 Re 1.3 × 104 and inlet concentrations 0.59 psteam/ptotal 0.95. The measurements, performed at an open test loop at ptotal ≈ 0.96 bar, allowed local heat and mass transfer coefficients to be evaluated for various inlet lengths in the 2 m long annulus. The steam concentration was measured locally inside the annulus with a newly developed dew-point probe. The heat flux was measured locally using the temperature gradient in the cooled inner tube.

Near the inlet region the experiments showed a slightly higher heat flux at the bottom of the tube compared to the top, although it is expected to be smaller there owing to a thicker liquid film. Far downstream from the inlet region the heat transfer at the top was higher than at the bottom. The reasons for these effects are discussed, yielding a better understanding of the thermal and fluid processes involved in condensation from vapor-gas mixtures. The measured data allow the development of correlations for predicting the local Nusselt and Sherwood numbers in a horizontal annular-flow chanbel.  相似文献

Spirally fluted tubes are used extensively in the design of tubular heat exchangers. In previous investigations, results for tubes with flute depths e/Dvi < 0.2 were reported, with most correlations applicable for Re ≥ 5000. This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation of the heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics of spirally fluted tubes with the following tube and flow parameter ranges: flute depth e/Dvi = 0.1−0.4, flute pitch p/Dvi = 0.4−7.3, helix angle θ/90° = 0.3−0.65, Re = 500−80,000, and Pr = 2−7. The heat transfer coefficients inside the fluted tube were obtained from measured values of the overall heat transfer coefficient using a nonlinear regression scheme. The friction factor data obtained consisted of 507 data points. The proposed correlation for the friction factor predicts 96% of the database within ±20%. The heat transfer correlation for the range 500 ≤ Re ≤ 5000 predicts 76% of the database (178 data points) within ±20%, and the correlation for the higher Re range predicts 97% of the 342 data points within ±20%. Comparison of heat transfer and friction data show that these tubes are most effective in the laminar and transition flow regimes. The present results show that the increase of flute depth in the range considered does not improve heat transfer.  相似文献

Two-phase flow measurements with sharp-edged orifices   总被引:10,自引:0,他引:10
This paper contains the results of a set of two-phase flow measurements of 4 different ratios of vapor to liquid density (up to 0.328) across a sharp-edged circular orifice. Test fluid was R-113. Tests were carried out upon 3 orifices whose diameter ratios were 0.312, 0.439 and 0.625. The test quality ranged from 0–100%, while the mass velocity from 917–1477 kg/m2.s. On the basis of a modified separated flow model, a relationship is developed for the flow rate and quality and is compared with experimental data and 5 proposed correlations. Comparison shows this method can be used to calculate the flow rate or the quality of vapor liquid (or steam water) mixture in the range 0.00455 to 0.328 of the density ratio, and in pipe size ranging from 8 to 75 mm (β = 0.25–0.75).

The RMS error of this method is about 12% when the quality, x, ranges from 2% to 100%.  相似文献

The flow boiling heat transfer coefficients of R-134a/R-290/R-600a (91%:4.068%:4.932% by mass) refrigerant mixture are experimentally arrived in two tubes of diameter 9.52 and 12.7 mm. The tests are conducted to target the varied heat flux condition and stratified flow pattern found in evaporators of refrigerators and deep freezers. The varied heat flux condition is imposed on the refrigerant using a coaxial counter-current heat exchanger test section. The experiments are performed for mass flow rates of the refrigerant mixture between 3 and 5 g s−1 and entry temperature between −8.59 and 5.33°C which are bubble temperatures corresponding to a pressure of 3.2 and 5 bar. The influences of heat flux, mass flow rate, pressure, flow pattern, tube diameter on the heat transfer coefficient are discussed. The profound effects of nucleate boiling prevailing even at higher vapor qualities in evaporators are highlighted. The heat transfer coefficient of the refrigerant mixture is also compared with that of R-134a.  相似文献

The experimental data for heat transfer during nucleate pool boiling of saturated liquid metals on plain surfaces are surveyed and a new correlation is presented. The correlation is h = Cq0.7prm, where C and m are, respectively, 13.7 and 0.22 pr < 0.001 and 6.9 and 0.12 for pr > 0.001 (h is in W/m2 K and q in W/m2). This correlation has been verified with data for K, Na, Cs, Li, and Hg from 17 sources over the reduced pressure (pr) range of 4.3 × 10−6 to 1.8 × 10−2. The correlation of Subbotin et al. was found unsatisfactory, but a modified correlation was developed that also gives good agreement with most of the data.  相似文献

Direct contact heat transfer between water and a heat transfer oil was investigated under non-boiling conditions in co-current turbulent flow through a horizontal concentric annulus. The ratio of the inner pipe diameter to the outer pipe diameter (aspect ratio) κ = 0.730−0.816; total liquid velocity (mixture velocity) VT = 0.42−1.1 m/s; inlet oil temperature Toi = 38−94°C; oil volume fraction in the flowing mixture φo = 0.25−0.75 were varied and their effects on the overall volumetric heat transfer coefficient Uv were determined at constant interfacial tension of 48 dynes/cm.

It was found that, in each concentric pipe set, the overall volumetric heat transfer coefficient increased with increasing dispersed phase volume fraction at each constant mixture velocity and reached a maximum at around φo = φw ≈ 0.5. The maximum Uv values increased with increasing total liquid velocity and decreasing aspect ratio of the annulus. The volumetric heat transfer coefficient was also found to increase with increasing inlet oil temperature and increasing total liquid velocity but to decrease with length along the test section keeping all other parameters constant. Empirical expressions for the volumetric heat transfer coefficient were obtained within the ranges of the experimental parameters.  相似文献

The condensation heat transfer of pure refrigerants, R-22, R-134a and a binary refrigerant R-410A flowing in small diameter tubes was investigated experimentally. The condenser is a countflow heat exchanger which refrigerant flows in the inner tube and cooling water flows in the annulus. The heat exchanger is smooth, horizontal copper tube of 1.77, 3.36 and 5.35 mm inner diameter, respectively. The length of heat exchanger is 1220, 2660 and 3620 mm, respectively. The experiments were conducted at mass flux of 200–400 kg/m2 s and saturation temperature of 40°C. The main results were summarized as follows: in case of single-phase flow, the single-phase Nusselt Number measured by experimental data was higher than that calculated by Gnielinski and Wu and Little correlation. The new single-phase correlation based on the experimental data was proposed in this study. In case of two-phase flow, the condensation heat transfer coefficient of R-410A for three tubes was slightly higher than that of R-22 and R-134a at the given mass flux. The condensation heat transfer coefficient of R-22 showed almost a similar value to that of R-134a. The condensation heat transfer coefficient for R-22, R-134a and R-410A increased with increasing mass flux and decreasing tube diameter. Most of the existing correlations which were proposed in the large diameter tube failed to predict condensation heat transfer. Therefore, the new condensation heat transfer correlation based on the experimental data was proposed in the present study.  相似文献

The condensation of supersonic steam jet submerged in the quiescent subcooled water was investigated experimentally. The results indicated that the shape of steam plume was controlled by the steam exit pressure and water temperature. Six different shapes of steam plume were observed under the present test conditions. Their distribution as a function of the steam exit pressures and water temperatures was given. As the steam mass velocity and water temperature increase, the measured maximum expansion ratio and dimensionless penetration length of steam plume were in the ranges of 1.08–1.95 and 3.05–13.15, respectively. The average heat transfer coefficient of supersonic steam jet condensation was found to be in the range of 0.63–3.44 MW/m2K. An analytical model of steam plume was found and the correlations to predict the maximum expansion ratio, dimensionless penetration length and average heat transfer coefficient were also investigated.  相似文献

This article reports an experimental investigation on flow boiling heat transfer and pressure drop of refrigerant R-134a in a smooth horizontal and two microfinned tubes from different manufacturers with the same geometric characteristics. Experiments have been carried out in an experimental facility developed for change of phase studies with a test section made with 9.52 mm external diameter, 1.5 m long copper tubes, electrically heated by tape resistors wrapped on the external surface. Tests have been performed under the following conditions: inlet saturation temperature of 5 °C, vapor qualities from 5% to 90%, mass velocity from 100 to 500 kg/s m2, and a heat flux of 5 kW/m2. Experimental results indicated that the heat transfer performance was basically the same for both microfin tubes. The pressure drop is higher in the microfinned tubes in comparison to the smooth tube over the whole range of mass velocities and vapor qualities. The enhancement factor, used to evaluate the combination of heat transfer and pressure drop, is higher than one for both tubes for mass velocities lower than 300 kg/s m2. Values lower than one have been obtained for both tubes in the mass velocity upper range as a result of a significant pressure drop increment not followed by a correspondent increment in the heat transfer coefficient. Some images, illustrating the flow patterns, were obtained from the visualization section, located in the exit of the test section with the same internal diameter of the tested tube.  相似文献

An experimental investigation is carried out to study heat transfer characteristics of a rotating triangular thermosyphon, using R-134a refrigerant as the working fluid. The tested thermosyphon is an equilateral triangular tube made from copper material of 11?mm triangular length, 2?mm thickness, and a total length of 1,500?mm. The length of the evaporator section is 600?mm, adiabatic section is 300?mm, and condenser section is 600?mm. The effects of the rotational speed, filling ratio, and the evaporator heat flux on each of the evaporator heat transfer coefficient, he, condenser heat transfer coefficient, hc, and the overall effective thermal conductance, Ct are studied. Experiments are performed with a vertical position of thermosyphon within heat flux ranges from 11 to 23?W/m2 for the three selected filling ratios of 10, 30 and 50?% of the evaporator section volume. The results indicated that the maximum values of the tested heat transfer parameters of the rotational equilateral triangular thermosyphon are obtained at the filling ratio of 30?%. Also, it is found that the heat transfer coefficient of the condensation is increased with increasing the rotational speed. The tested heat transfer parameters of the thermosyphon are correlated as a function of the evaporator heat flux and angular velocity.  相似文献
