This paper is concerned with an initial boundary value problem for strictly convex conservation laws whose weak entropy solution is in the piecewise smooth solution class consisting of finitely many discontinuities. By the structure of the weak entropy solution of the corresponding initial value problem and the boundary entropy condition developed by Bardos-Leroux Nedelec, we give a construction method to the weak entropy solution of the initial boundary value problem. Compared with the initial value problem, the weak entropy solution of the initial boundary value problem includes the following new interaction type: an expansion wave collides with the boundary and the boundary reflects a new shock wave which is tangent to the boundary. According to the structure and some global estimates of the weak entropy solution, we derive the global L^1-error estimate for viscous methods to this initial boundary value problem by using the matching travelling wave solutions method. If the inviscid solution includes the interaction that an expansion wave collides with the boundary and the boundary reflects a new shock wave which is tangent to the boundary, or the inviscid solution includes some shock wave which is tangent to the boundary, then the error of the viscosity solution to the inviscid solution is bounded by O(ε^1/2) in L^1-norm; otherwise, as in the initial value problem, the L^1-error bound is O(ε| In ε|).  相似文献

The paper is devoted to the investigation of a parabolic partial differential equation with non‐local and time‐dependent boundary conditions arising from ductal carcinoma in situ model. Approximation solution of the present problem is implemented by the Ritz–Galerkin method, which is a first attempt at tackling parabolic equation with such non‐classical boundary conditions. In the process of dealing with the difficulty caused by integral term in non‐local boundary condition, we use a trick of introducing the transition function G(x,t) to convert non‐local boundary to another non‐classical boundary, which can be handled with the Ritz–Galerkin method. Illustrative examples are included to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the technique in this paper. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This work is devoted to prove the existence of weak solutions of the kinetic Vlasov–Poisson–Fokker–Planck system in bounded domains for attractive or repulsive forces. Absorbing and reflection-type boundary conditions are considered for the kinetic equation and zero values for the potential on the boundary. The existence of weak solutions is proved for bounded and integrable initial and boundary data with finite energy. The main difficulty of this problem is to obtain an existence theory for the linear equation. This fact is analysed using a variational technique and the theory of elliptic–parabolic equations of second order. The proof of existence for the initial–boundary value problems is carried out following a procedure of regularization and linearization of the problem. © 1998 B. G. Firstly, the Riemann boundary value problem for a kind of degenerate elliptic system of the first order equations in R 4 is proposed. Then, with the help of the one-to-one correspondence between the theory of Clifford valued generalized regular functions and that of the degenerate elliptic system’s solution, the boundary value problem as stated above is transformed into a boundary value problem related to the generalized regular functions in Clifford analysis. Moreover, the solution of the Riemann boundary value problem for the degenerate elliptic system is explicitly described by using a kind of singular integral operator. Finally, the conditions for the existence of solutions of the oblique derivative problem for another kind of degenerate elliptic system of the first order equations in R 4 are derived.  相似文献

We consider conservation laws with source terms in a bounded domain with Dirichlet boundary conditions. We first prove the existence of a strong trace at the boundary in order to provide a simple formulation of the entropy boundary condition. Equipped with this formulation, we go on to establish the well-posedness of entropy solutions to the initial–boundary value problem. The proof utilizes the kinetic formulation and the averaging lemma. Finally, we make use of these results to demonstrate the well-posedness in a class of discontinuous solutions to the initial–boundary value problem for the Degasperis–Procesi shallow water equation, which is a third order nonlinear dispersive equation that can be rewritten in the form of a nonlinear conservation law with a nonlocal source term.  相似文献

We study the first- and second-order regularity properties of the boundary of H-convex sets in the setting of a real vector space endowed with a suitable group structure: our starting point is indeed a step two Carnot group. We prove that, locally, the noncharacteristic part of the boundary has the intrinsic cone property and that it is foliated by intrinsic Lipschitz continuous curves that are twice differentiable almost everywhere.  相似文献

This article deals with a boundary value problem for Laplace equation with a non‐linear and non‐local boundary condition. This problem comes from petroleum engineering and is used to obtain an estimation of well productivity. The non‐linear and non‐local boundary condition is written on the well boundary. On the outer reservoir boundaries, we have both Dirichlet and Neumann conditions. In this paper, we prove the existence and uniqueness of a solution to this problem. The existence is proved by Schauder theorem and the uniqueness is obtained under more restricted conditions, when the involved operator is a contraction. Let D be a bounded domain in C 2 with a non-compact group of holomorphic automorphisms. Model domains for D are obtained under the hypotheses that at least one orbit accumulates at a boundary point near which the boundary is smooth, real analytic and of finite type. We consider a laminar boundary‐layer flow of a viscous and incompressible fluid past a moving wedge in which the wedge is moving either in the direction of the mainstream flow or opposite to it. The mainstream flows outside the boundary layer are approximated by a power of the distance from the leading boundary layer. The variable pressure gradient is imposed on the boundary layer so that the system admits similarity solutions. The model is described using 3‐dimensional boundary‐layer equations that contains 2 physical parameters: pressure gradient (β) and shear‐to‐strain‐rate ratio parameter (α). Two methods are used: a linear asymptotic analysis in the neighborhood of the edge of the boundary layer and the Keller‐box numerical method for the full nonlinear system. The results show that the flow field is divided into near‐field region (mainly dominated by viscous forces) and far‐field region (mainstream flows); the velocity profiles form through an interaction between 2 regions. Also, all simulations show that the subsequent dynamics involving overshoot and undershoot of the solutions for varying parameter characterizing 3‐dimensional flows. The pressure gradient (favorable) has a tendency of decreasing the boundary‐layer thickness in which the velocity profiles are benign. The wall shear stresses increase unboundedly for increasing α when the wedge is moving in the x‐direction, while the case is different when it is moving in the y‐direction. Further, both analysis show that 3‐dimensional boundary‐layer solutions exist in the range −1<α<. These are some interesting results linked to an important class of boundary‐layer flows.  相似文献

This work is a continuation of our recent paper where we discussed numerical evidence that the numbers of the states of the fully packed loop model with fixed pairing patterns coincide with the components of the ground state vector of the O(1) loop model with periodic boundary conditions and an even number of sites. We give two new conjectures related to different boundary conditions: we suggest and numerically verify that the numbers of the half-turn symmetric states of the fully packed loop model with fixed pairing patterns coincide with the components of the ground state vector of the O(1) loop model with periodic boundary conditions and an odd number of sites and that the corresponding numbers of the vertically symmetric states describe the case of open boundary conditions and an even number of sites.Translated from Teoreticheskaya i Matematicheskaya Fizika, Vol. 142, No. 2, pp. 284–292, February, 2005.  相似文献

In this paper we prove the existence of strong solutions for the stationary Bénard-Marangoni problem in a finite domain flat on the top, bifurcating from the basic heat conductive state. The Bénard-Marangoni problem is a physical phenomenon of thermal convection in which the effects of buoyancy and surface tension are taken into account. This problem is modelled with a system of partial differential equations of the type Navier-Stokes and heat equation. The boundary conditions include crossed boundary conditions involving tangential derivatives of the temperature and normal derivatives of the velocity field. To define tangential derivatives at the boundary, intended in the trace sense, it is necessary order two derivatives in the interior of the domain and thus the boundary term contains as high derivatives as the interior term. We overcome this difficulty by considering the weak formulation, and transforming the boundary integral into an equivalent integral defined in the whole domain. This allows us to reformulate the weak problem with a temperature having only order one weak derivatives. Concerning regularity results, we obtain strong solutions for the stationary Bénard-Marangoni problem.  相似文献

An L 2-estimate of the finite element error is proved for a Dirichlet and a Neumann boundary value problem on a three-dimensional, prismatic and non-convex domain that is discretized by an anisotropic tetrahedral mesh. To this end, an approximation error estimate for an interpolation operator that is preserving the Dirichlet boundary conditions is given. The challenge for the Neumann problem is the proof of a local interpolation error estimate for functions from a weighted Sobolev space.  相似文献

In this paper we develop an unconditionally stable third order time integration formula for the diffusion equation with Neumann boundary condition. We use a suitable arithmetic average approximation and explicit backward Euler formula and then develop a third order L-stable Simpson’s 3/8 type formula. We also observe that the arithmetic average approximation is not unique. Then L-stable Simpson’s 3/8 type formula and Hopf-Cole transformation is used to solve Burger’s equation with Dirichlet boundary condition. It is also observed that this numerical method deals efficiently in case of inconsistencies in initial and boundary conditions.  相似文献

The paper deals with the three‐dimensional Dirichlet boundary value problem (BVP) for a second‐order strongly elliptic self‐adjoint system of partial differential equations in the divergence form with variable coefficients and develops the integral potential method based on a localized parametrix. Using Green's representation formula and properties of the localized layer and volume potentials, we reduce the Dirichlet BVP to a system of localized boundary‐domain integral equations. The equivalence between the Dirichlet BVP and the corresponding localized boundary‐domain integral equation system is studied. We establish that the obtained localized boundary‐domain integral operator belongs to the Boutet de Monvel algebra. With the help of the Wiener–Hopf factorization method, we investigate corresponding Fredholm properties and prove invertibility of the localized operator in appropriate Sobolev (Bessel potential) spaces. The Dirichlet problem for the p(x)-Laplacian with a continuous boundary function is considered, and a sufficient condition is found for the continuity of its solution at a boundary point, assuming that the exponent p(x) satisfies the log-Hölder continuity condition at this point.  相似文献

For a linear differential expression with matrix coefficients in the class L p , p ≥ 2, and with a parameter λ, we consider a boundary value problem with boundary conditions at the endpoints of the interval [a, b]. Under the condition that the problem is regular, we obtain a formula for the Fourier series expansion of an arbitrary vector function of the class L p in the root functions of the problem.  相似文献

A mixed boundary value problem for the stationary heat transfer equation in a thin layer around a surface with the boundary is investigated. The main objective is to trace what happens in Γ‐limit when the thickness of the layer converges to zero. The limit Dirichlet BVP for the Laplace–Beltrami equation on the surface is described explicitly, and we show how the Neumann boundary conditions in the initial BVP transform in the Γ‐limit. For this, we apply the variational formulation and the calculus of Günter's tangential differential operators on a hypersurface and layers, which allow global representation of basic differential operators and of corresponding boundary value problems in terms of the standard Euclidean coordinates of the ambient space . We show that L3,∞-solutions to the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations near a curved smooth part of the boundary are Hölder continuous. The corresponding result near a planar part of the boundary was obtained earlier by G. Seregin. Bigliography: 22 titles.  相似文献

For an nth-order differential equation with right-hand side satisfying the Carathéodory conditions, we consider a two-point boundary value problem with boundary conditions of which the first two have a general form and the remaining conditions are simplest. We show that the existence of a lower and an upper function and the compactness condition imply the solvability of this boundary value problem.  相似文献
