In this paper we establish the existence and the uniqueness of positive solutions for Dirichlet boundary value problems of nonlinear elliptic equations with singularity. We obtain the existence and the uniqueness by using the mixed monotone method in the cone theory. Moreover, we give an iterative method of constructing the solution. In this paper, we consider the problem of solution uniqueness for the second order elliptic boundary value problem, by looking at its finite element or finite difference approximations. We derive several equivalent conditions, which are simpler and easier than the boundedness of the entries of the inverse matrix given in Yamamoto et al., [T. Yamamoto, S. Oishi, Q. Fang, Discretization principles for linear two-point boundary value problems, II, Numer. Funct. Anal. Optim. 29 (2008) 213–224]. The numerical experiments are provided to support the analysis made. Strictly speaking, the uniqueness of solution is equivalent to the existence of nonzero eigenvalues in the corresponding eigenvalue problem, and this condition should be checked by solving the corresponding eigenvalue problems. An application of the equivalent conditions is that we may discover the uniqueness simultaneously, while seeking the approximate solutions of elliptic boundary equations.  相似文献

By using the upper and lower solution method and fixed point theory, we investigate some nonlinear singular second-order differential equations with linear functional boundary conditions. The nonlinear term f(t, u) is nonincreasing with respect to u, and only possesses some integrability. The paper concerns a resonance problem for a class of singular quasilinear elliptic equations in weighted Sobolev spaces. The equation set studied is one of the most useful sets of Navier-Stokes equations; these describe the motion of viscous fluid substances such as liquids, gases and so on. By using Galerkin-type techniques, the Brouwer fixed point theorem, and a new weighted compact Sobolev-type embedding theorem established by Shapiro, we show the existence of a nontrivial solution.  相似文献

In this article, we derive difference methods of O(h4) for solving the system of two space nonlinear elliptic partial differential equations with variable coefficients having mixed derivatives on a uniform square grid using nine grid points. We obtain two sets of fouth-order difference methods; one in the absence of mixed derivatives, second when the coefficients of uxy are not equal to zero and the coefficients of uxx and uyy are equal. There do not exist fourth-order schemes involving nine grid points for the general case. The method having two variables has been tested on two-dimensional viscous, incompressible steady-state Navier-Stokes' model equations in polar coordinates. The proposed difference method for scalar equation is also applied to the Poisson's equation in polar coordinates. Some numerical examples are provided to illustrate the fourth-order convergence of the proposed methods.  相似文献

In this work a class of singular ordinary differential equations is considered. These problems arise from many engineering and physics applications such as electro-hydrodynamics and some thermal explosions. Adomian decomposition method is applied to solve these singular boundary value problems. The approximate solution is calculated in the form of series with easily computable components. The method is tested for its efficiency by considering four examples and results are compared with previous known results. In this paper we investigate a class of singular second order differential equations with singular perturbation subject to three-point boundary value conditions, whose solution exhibits a couple of boundary layers at two endpoints. We first establish a lower–upper solutions theorem by using the Schauder fixed point theorem. By the asymptotic expansions and the lower–upper solutions theorem we obtain the existence, asymptotic estimates and uniqueness for the proposed problem.
