The effects of polymerization temperature, polymerization time, ethylene and hydrogen concentration, and effect of comonomers (hexene‐1, propylene) on the activity of supported catalyst of composition LFeCl2/MgCl2‐Al(i‐Bu)3 (L = 2,6‐bis[1‐(2,6‐dimethylphenylimino)ethyl] pyridyl) and polymer characteristics (molecular weight (MW), molecular‐weight distribution (MWD), molecular structure) have been studied. Effective activation energy of ethylene polymerization over LFeCl2/MgCl2‐Al(i‐Bu)3 has a value typical of supported Ziegler–Natta catalysts (11.9 kcal/mol). The polymerization reaction is of the first order with respect to monomer at the ethylene concentration >0.2 mol/L. Addition of small amounts of hydrogen (9–17%) significantly increases the activity; however, further increase in hydrogen concentration decreases the activity. The IRS and DSC analysis of PE indicates that catalyst LFeCl2/MgCl2‐Al(i‐Bu)3 has a very low copolymerizing ability toward propylene and hexene‐1. MW and MWD of PE produced over these catalysts depend on the polymerization time, ethylene and hexene‐1 concentration. The activation effect of hydrogen and other kinetic features of ethylene polymerization over supported catalysts based on the Fe (II) complexes are discussed. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Manganese(II) complex catalysts with hydrotris(pyrazolyl)borate ligands have been examined on their catalytic performance in ethylene polymerization and ethylene/1‐hexene copolymerization. The activities of [Mn(L6)(Cl)(NCMe)] ( 1 ) and [Mn(L10)(Cl)] ( 2 ) activated by Al(i‐Bu)3/[Ph3C][B(C6F5)4] for ethylene polymerization go up to 326 and 11 kg mol (cat?1) h?1, respectively, (L6? = hydrotris(3‐phenyl‐5‐methyl‐1‐pyrazolyl)borate anion, L10? = hydrotris(3‐adamantyl‐5‐isopropyl‐1‐pyrazolyl)borate anion). In particular, for ethylene/1‐hexene copolymerization, complex 1 gives high‐molecular‐weight poly(ethylene‐co‐1‐hexene)s with the highest Mw of 439,000 in manganese olefin polymerization catalyst systems. Moreover, the 1‐hexene incorporation by complex 1 seems more efficient than that by [Mn(L3)(Cl)] ( 4 ) (L3? = hydrotris(3‐tertiary butyl‐5‐isopropyl‐1‐pyrazolyl)borate anion). In this work, we demonstrated that the coordination geometry and coordination number are also important factors for ethylene polymerization reaction as well as steric hindrances and ligand frameworks in our manganese(II) catalysts. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The magnesium support with the formula MgCl2(THF)0.32(Et2AlCl)0.36 was used for immobilization of salen complexes of titanium [Ti(salen)Cl2, Ti(salen(OMe)2)Cl2]. The effects of the catalyst composition (i.e. type of titanium complex and type of activator), polymerization temperature, polymerization time, and the effect of comonomer (1‐octene) on the activity of the obtained supported catalysts, on the polymer characteristics (molecular weight, molecular weight distribution, melting point), and on the polymer morphology were studied. The findings were compared to those obtained for corresponding unsupported systems. Catalysts immobilization results in considerable changes in catalysts activity and in properties of resultant polymers. The studied supported catalysts are highly active in ethylene polymerization, their activity increases with increasing temperature and lasts at least 2 hours. Their copolymerizing ability towards 1‐octene is rather low. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 47: 6693–6703, 2009  相似文献

Monocyclopentadienyl titanium imidazolin‐2‐iminato complexes [Cp′Ti(L)X2] 1a (Cp′ = cyclopentadienyl, L = 1,3‐di‐tert‐butylimidazolin‐2‐imide, X = Cl), 1b (X = CH3); 2 (Cp′ = cyclopentadienyl, L = 1,3‐diisopropylimidazolin‐2‐imide, X = Cl); 3 (Cp′ = tert‐butylcyclopentadienyl, L = 1,3‐di‐tert‐butylimidazolin‐2‐imide, X = Cl), upon activation with methylaluminoxane (MAO) were active for the polymerization of ethylene and propylene and the copolymerization of ethylene and 1‐hexene. Catalysts derived from imidazolin‐2‐iminato tropidinyl titanium complex 4 = [(Trop)Ti(L)Cl2] (Trop = tropidinyl, L = 1,3‐di‐tert‐butylimidazolin‐2‐imide) were much less active. Narrow polydispersities were observed for ethylene and propylene polymerization, but the copolymerization of ethylene/hexene led to bimodal molecular weight distributions. The productivity of catalysts derived from the dialkyl complex 1b activated with [Ph3C][B(C6F5)4] or B(C6F5)3 were less active for ethylene/hexene copolymerization but yielded ethylene/hexene copolymers of narrower molecular weight distributions than those derived from 1a/MAO. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This communication describes the design and application of a novel catalytic epoxidation system derived from the initial immobilization of a homogeneous sulfonato (salen)Mn(III) complex on two solid carriers (silica gel and siliceous earth) and subsequent dispersion of the supported manganese complexes into ionic liquid 1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate (BMImPF6) and 1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (BMImBF4) for recycling. The performance of chiral (salen)Mn(III) system in enantioselective epoxidation of olefins was investigated systematically. Even higher enantioselectivity than that of the homogeneous counterpart was obtained with similar catalytic activity. In particular, the best catalytic result is that the combination of the silica gel‐supported (salen)Mn(III) catalyst and BMImPF6 affords 97–100% ee for epoxidation of α‐methylstyrene, and high ee values were retained even after three cycles. 1‐(2‐N,N‐Dimethylaminoethyl)‐2,3,4,5‐tetramethylcyclopentadienyl‐chromium dichloride ( 1 ), (2‐N,N‐dimethylaminoethyl)cyclopentadienylchromium dichloride ( 6 ), and (2‐N,N‐dimethylaminoethyl)indenylchromium dichloride ( 7 ) in the presence of modified methylaluminoxane exhibit high catalytic activities for the polymerization of ethylene with random copolymerizations of ethylene with propylene, ethylene with 1‐hexene, and propylene with 1‐hexene. These initiators conduct polymerizations to give high molecular weight polymers with low polydispersities. However, the stereoregularities are very poor in these reactions. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 40: 2759–2771, 2002  相似文献

3‐Ethynylthiophene (3ETh) was polymerized with Rh(I) complexes: [Rh(cod)acac], [Rh(nbd)acac], [Rh(cod)Cl]2, and [Rh(nbd)Cl]2 (cod is η22‐cycloocta‐1,5‐diene and nbd η22‐norborna‐2,5‐diene), used as homogeneous catalysts and with the last two complexes anchored on mesoporous polybenzimidazole (PBI) beads: [Rh(cod)Cl]2/PBI and [Rh(nbd)Cl]2/PBI used as heterogeneous catalysts. All tested catalyst systems give high‐cis poly(3ETh). In situ NMR study of homogeneous polymerizations induced with [Rh(cod)acac] and [Rh(nbd)acac] complexes has revealed: (i) a transformation of acac ligands into free acetylacetone (Hacac) occurring since the early stage of polymerization, which suggests that this reaction is part of the initiation, (ii) that the initiation is rather slow in both of these polymerization systems, and (iii) a release of cod ligand from [Rh(cod)acac] complex but no release of nbd ligand from [Rh(nbd)acac] complex during the polymerization. The stability of diene ligand binding to Rh‐atom in [Rh(diene)acac] catalysts remarkably affects only the molecular weight but not the yield of poly(3ETh). The heterogeneous catalyst systems also provide high‐cis poly(3ETh), which is of very low contamination with catalyst residues since a leaching of anchored Rh complexes is negligible. The course of heterogeneous polymerizations is somewhat affected by limitations arising from the diffusion of monomer inside catalyst beads. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Studying the axial ligation behavior of metalloporphyrins with nitrogenous bases helps to better understand not only the biological function of heme‐based protein systems, but also the catalytic properties of porphyrin‐based reaction sites in other biomimetic synthetic support environments. Unlike iron porphyrin complexes, little is known about the axial ligation behavior of Mn porphyrins, particularly in the solid state with Mn in the +3 oxidation state. Here, we present the syntheses and crystal and molecular structures of three new high‐spin manganese(III) porphyrin complexes with the different amine‐based axial ligands imidazole (im), piperidine (pip), and 1,4‐diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO), namely bis(imidazole)(5,10,15,20‐tetraphenylporphyrinato)manganese(III) chloride chloroform disolvate, [Mn(C44H28N4)(C3H4N2)2]Cl·2CHCl3 or [Mn(TPP)(im)2]Cl·2CHCl3 (TPP = 5,10,15,20‐tetraphenylporphyrin), (I), bis(piperidine)(5,10,15,20‐tetraphenylporphyrinato)manganese(III) chloride, [Mn(C44H28N4)(C5H11N)2]Cl or [Mn(TPP)(pip)2]Cl, (II), and chlorido(1,4‐diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane)(5,10,15,20‐tetraphenylporphyrin)manganese(III)–1,4‐diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane–toluene–water (4/4/4/1), [Mn(C44H28N4)Cl(C6H12N2)]·C6H12N2·C7H8·0.25H2O or [Mn(TPP)Cl(DABCO)]·(DABCO)·(toluene)·0.25H2O, (IV). A fourth complex, chlorido(pyridine)(5,10,15,20‐tetraphenylporphryinato)manganese(III) pyridine disolvate, [Mn(C44H28N4)Cl(C5H5N)]·2C5H5N or [Mn(TPP)Cl(py)]·2(py), (III), acquired using different crystallization methods from published data, is also reported and compared to the previous structures.  相似文献

The structure of free manganese(III) tris(acetylacetonate) [Mn(acac)3] was determined by mass‐spectrometrically controlled gas‐phase electron diffraction. The vapor of Mn(acac)3 at 125(5) °C is composed of a single conformer of Mn(acac)3 in C2 symmetry with the central structural motif of a tetragonal elongated MnO6 octahedron and 47(2) mol % of acetylacetone (Hacac) formed by partial thermal decomposition of Mn(acac)3. Three types of Mn−O separations have been refined (rh1=2.157(16), 1.946(5), and 1.932(5) Å. We have found no indication for a significant deviation of the ‐C−C−C−O−Mn−O‐ six‐membered rings from planarity, which is observed in the solid state.  相似文献

This article discusses the similarities and differences between active centers in propylene and ethylene polymerization reactions over the same Ti‐based catalysts. These correlations were examined by comparing the polymerization kinetics of both monomers over two different Ti‐based catalyst systems, δ‐TiCl3‐AlEt3 and TiCl4/DBP/MgCl2‐AlEt3/PhSi(OEt)3, by comparing the molecular weight distributions of respective polymers, in consecutive ethylene/propylene and propylene/ethylene homopolymerization reactions, and by examining the IR spectra of “impact‐resistant” polypropylene (a mixture of isotactic polypropylene and an ethylene/propylene copolymer). The results of these experiments indicated that Ti‐based catalysts contain two families of active centers. The centers of the first family, which are relatively unstable kinetically, are capable of polymerizing and copolymerizing all olefins. This family includes from four to six populations of centers that differ in their stereospecificity, average molecular weights of polymer molecules they produce, and in the values of reactivity ratios in olefin copolymerization reactions. The centers of the second family (two populations of centers) efficiently polymerize only ethylene. They do not homopolymerize α‐olefins and, if used in ethylene/α‐olefin copolymerization reactions, incorporate α‐olefin molecules very poorly. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two new mononuclear nonheme manganese(III) complexes of tetradentate ligands containing two deprotonated amide moieties, [Mn(bpc)Cl(H2O)] ( 1 ) and [Mn(Me2bpb)Cl(H2O)] ? CH3OH ( 2 ), were prepared and characterized. Complex 2 has also been characterized by X‐ray crystallography. Magnetic measurements revealed that the complexes are high spin (S=5/2) MnIII species with typical magnetic moments of 4.76 and 4.95 μB, respectively. These nonheme MnIII complexes efficiently catalyzed olefin epoxidation and alcohol oxidation upon treatment with MCPBA under mild experimental conditions. Olefin epoxidation by these catalysts is proposed to involve the multiple active oxidants MnV?O, MnIV?O, and MnIII? OO(O)CR. Evidence for this approach was derived from reactivity and Hammett studies, KIE (kH/kD) values, H218O‐exchange experiments, and the use of peroxyphenylacetic acid as a mechanistic probe. In addition, it has been proposed that the participation of MnV?O, MnIV?O, and MnIII? OOR could be controlled by changing the substrate concentration, and that partitioning between heterolysis and homolysis of the O? O bond of a Mn‐acylperoxo intermediate (Mn? OOC(O)R) might be significantly affected by the nature of solvent, and that the O? O bond of the Mn? OOC(O)R might proceed predominantly by heterolytic cleavage in protic solvent. Therefore, a discrete MnV?O intermediate appeared to be the dominant reactive species in protic solvents. Furthermore, we have observed close similarities between these nonheme MnIII complex systems and Mn(saloph) catalysts previously reported, suggesting that this simultaneous operation of the three active oxidants might prevail in all the manganese‐catalyzed olefin epoxidations, including Mn(salen), Mn(nonheme), and even Mn(porphyrin) complexes. This mechanism provides the greatest congruity with related oxidation reactions by using certain Mn complexes as catalysts.  相似文献

A series of group 4 metal complexes bearing amine‐bis(phenolate) ligands with the amino side‐arm donor: (μ‐O)[Me2N(CH2)2N(CH2‐2‐O‐3,5‐tBu2‐C6H2)2ZrCl]2 ( 1a ), R2N(CH2)2N(CH2‐2‐O‐3‐R1‐5‐R2‐C6H2)2TiCl2 (R = Me, R1, R2 = tBu ( 2a ), R = iPr, R1, R2 = tBu ( 2b ), R = iPr, R1 = tBu, R2 = OMe ( 2c )), and Me2N(CH2)2N(CH2‐2‐O‐3,5‐tBu2‐C6H2)(CH2‐2‐O‐C6H4)TiCl2 ( 2d ) are used in ethylene and propylene homopolymerization, and ethylene/1‐octene copolymerization. All complexes, upon their activation with Al(iBu)3/Ph3CB(C6F5)4, exhibit reasonable catalytic activity for ethylene homo‐ and copolymerization giving linear polyethylene with high to ultra‐high molecular weight (600·× 103–3600·× 103 g/mol). The activity of 1a /Al(iBu)3/Ph3CB(C6F5)4 shows a positive comonomer effect, leading to over 400% increase of the polymer yield, while the addition of 1‐octene causes a slight reduction of the activity of the complexes 2a‐2d . The complexes with the NMe2 donor group ( 2a , 2d , 1a ) display a high ability to incorporate a comonomer (up to 9–22 mol%), and the use of a bulkier donor group, N(iPr)2 ( 2b , 2c ), results in a lower 1‐octene incorporation. All the produced copolymers reveal a broad chemical composition distribution. In addition, the investigated complexes polymerized propylene with the moderate ( 1a , 2a ) to low ( 2b‐2d ) activity, giving polymers with different microstructures, from purely atactic to isotactically enriched (mmmm = 28%). © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Acetylacetonato (acac) complexes of transition metals in the 4th period were examined as catalysts for the ring‐opening polymerization of benzoxazine. This examination revealed that acac complexes of manganese, iron, and cobalt exhibited the highest activity, which was comparable or slightly higher than that exhibited by p‐toluenesulfonic acid. By replacing acac ligand by hexafluoroacetylacetonato (F6‐acac) ligand, the activity of manganese and iron complexes was remarkably enhanced. These metal F6‐acac complexes were tolerant to moisture to allow their use under air without special caution. Another advantage was their negligible effect to promote unfavorable weight loss during the polymerization. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 48: 479–484, 2010  相似文献

2‐Cyanoprop‐2‐yl dithionaphthalenoate (CPDN) was successfully used as the chain transfer agent to prepare polyacrylonitrile in combination with manganese(III) acetylacetonate (Mn(acac)3) as the initiator. The novel polymerization exhibited well “living”/controlled characteristics. The polymerization behavior was revealed to comply with features of reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer polymerization process. Mn(acac)3 played a key role as the initiator rather than the radical trapping agent in polymerization and exhibited better control performance than azo‐initiator. The narrowest molecular weight distribution was 1.31 under the condition of [AN]0:[Mn(acac)3]0:[CPDN]0 = 200:1:0.025 and AN:DMF = 1:1 (V/V). Various feed ratios of Mn(acac)3 and CPDN were also investigated in detail. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Chem. 2015 , 53, 1305–1309  相似文献

Vanadium complexes with tetradentate salen‐type ligands were first time explored in ethylene polymerizations. The effects of the vanadium complex structure, the alkyl aluminum cocatalysts type (EtAlCl2, Et2AlCl, Et3Al, and MAO), and the polymerization conditions (Al/V molar ratio, temperature) on polyethylene yield were explored. It was found that EtAlCl2 in conjunction with investigated vanadium complexes produced the most efficient catalytic systems. It was shown, moreover, that the structural changes of the tetradentate salen ligand (type of bridge which bond donor nitrogen atoms and type of substituent on aryl rings) affected activity of the catalytic system. The complexes containing ligands with cyclohexylene bridges were more active than those with ethylene bridges. Furthermore, the presence of electron‐withdrawing groups at the para position and electron‐donating substituents at the ortho position on the aryl rings of the ligands resulted in improved activity in relation to the systems with no substituents (with the exception of bulky t‐Bu group). The results presented also revealed that all vanadium complexes activated by common organoaluminum compounds gave linear polyethylenes with high melting points (134.8–137.6 °C), high molecular weights, and broad molecular weight distribution. The polymer produced in the presence of MAO possesses clearly lower melting point (131.4 °C) and some side groups (around 9/1000 C). © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The activities of C1‐symmetric dibenzyl zirconium complexes of Salan ligands that bear a halo‐substituted phenolate ring and an alkyl‐substituted phenolate ring in propylene polymerization with methylaluminoxane as cocatalyst were studied. These {ONNO′}ZrBn2‐type catalysts exhibited moderate‐to‐high activities and yielded polypropylene of low molecular weight. The degree of tacticity was found to depend on the steric bulk of the substituents on both phenolate rings and ranged from practically atactic to substantially isotactic (74–78% [mmmm] for polymerizations at room temperature by Lig5ZrBn2). Hemi‐isotactic polypropylene was not obtained, despite the diastereotopicity of the two positions. The pattern of stereo errors was consistent with the enantiomorphic site control of propylene insertion typically observed for C2‐symmetric catalysts and implied a facile site‐averaging mechanism. A regular 1,2‐insertion and a β‐H transfer to an incoming monomer correspond to the main propagation and termination processes, respectively. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Salen‐zinc complexes (Zn/ 1 R ) thermal‐latently catalyzed the polyaddition of a diepoxide ( 2 ) with a difunctional hemiacetal ester ( 3 ), which proceeded at moderate temperatures (100–150 °C) for curing of mixtures containing monomers and initiators. The catalytic activities of Zn/ 1 R depended on the Lewis acidities of the complexes controlled by the electronic character of the salen ligands. For example, Zn/ 1 3,5‐Cl bearing four electron‐withdrawing chlorine atoms initiated the polyaddition at the lowest temperature (100 °C), and Zn/ 1 OMe bearing two electron‐donating methoxy groups initiated the polyaddition at 120 °C. The Lewis acidities of the complexes were evaluated by NMR and IR spectroscopies and computational calculation. The polyadditions with the salen‐zinc complexes proceeded quantitatively at 150 °C, and the use of a tri‐functional hemiacetal ester ( 7 ) with 2 afforded the corresponding networked polymer. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The stability of polyethylene oligomer (PEOlig)‐entrapped salen‐metal complexes toward acidolysis is described. These complexes dissolve in hot toluene and precipitate as hydrophobic powders. The salen species in these precipitates or in precipitates of admixtures of oligomeric complexes and unfunctionalized polyethylene are stable to acid when suspended in acidic methanol for 24 h at 25°C. The lack of metal leaching due to acid‐promoted demetalation was determined using both colorimetric and ICP‐MS analyses. The ICP‐MS results showed the amount of metal loss for PEOlig‐salen‐metal complexes was 0.27%, 0.45%, and 0.79% for half‐salen Cr(III), salen Cr(III), and salen Mn(III) complexes, respectively. These results were in contrast to the reported behavior of low molecular weight salen metal complexes and to results seen with a salen complex bound to divinylbenzene (DVB) crosslinked polystyrene which demetalates under acidic conditions at room temperature. Salen complexes formed with PEOlig complexes also demetalate when the PEOlig‐bound species are in solution at elevated temperature and exposed to acid. These results show that as solids oligomeric polyethylene ligands even without added PE can serve as a protective encapsulating matrix for the solid forms of polymer‐supported catalysts. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of 2‐(arylimino)benzylidene‐9‐arylimino‐5,6,7,8‐tetrahydrocyclohepta[b] pyridyliron(II) chlorides was synthesized and characterized using FT‐IR and elemental analysis, and the molecular structures of complexes Fe3 and Fe4 have been confirmed by the single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction as a pseudo‐square‐pyramidal or distorted trigonal‐bipyramidal geometry around the iron core. On activation with methylaluminoxane (MAO) or modified methylaluminoxane (MMAO), all iron precatalysts exhibited high activities toward ethylene polymerization with a marvelous thermo‐stability and long lifetime. The Fe4 /MAO system showed highest activity of 1.56 × 107 gPE·mol?1(Fe)·h?1 at 70 °C, which is one of the highest activities toward ethylene polymerization by iron precatalysts. Even up to 80 °C, Fe3 /MAO system still persist high activity as 6.87 × 106 g(PE)·mol?1(Fe)·h?1, demonstrating remarkable thermal stability for industrial polymerizations (80–100 °C). This was mainly attributing to the phenyl modification of the framework of the iron precatalysts. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Chem. 2017 , 55 , 830–842  相似文献

Two Schiff base Mn(III) complexes containing polyether side chain were synthesized and characterized. The catalytic hydrolysis of p‐nitrophenyl picolinate (PNPP) by the two complexes in the buffered CTAB micellar solution in the pH range of 6.60–8.20 was investigated kinetically in this study. The influences of acidity, temperature, and structure of complex on the catalytic cleavage of PNPP were also studied. The mechanism of PNPP hydrolysis catalyzed by Schiff base manganese(III) complexes in CTAB micellar solution was proposed. The relative kinetic and thermodynamic parameters were determined. Comparied with the pseudo‐first‐order rate constant (k 0) of PNPP spontaneous hydrolysis in water, the pseudo‐first‐order rate constants (k obsd) of PNPP catalytic hydrolysis are 1.93×103 fold for MnL1 2Cl and 1.06×103 fold for MnL2 2Cl in CTAB micellar solution at pH=7.00, T=25°C, and [S]=2.0×10?4mol · dm?3, respectively. Furthermore, comparing the k obsd of PNPP catalytic hydrolysis by metallomicelles with that of PNPP hydrolysis catalyzed only by metal complexes or CTAB micelle at the above‐mentioned condition, metallomicelles of MnL2(L=L1, L2) Cl/CTAB exhibit notable catalytic activities for promoting PNPP hydrolysis, and MnL1 2Cl/CTAB system is superior in promoting cleavage of PNPP relative to MnL2 2Cl/CTAB system under the same experimental conditions. The results indicate that the rate of PNPP catalytic cleavage is influenced by the structures of the two complexes, the acidity of reaction systems, and the solubilization of PNPP in CTAB micelles.  相似文献
