The 19F NMR shieldings for several remotely substituted rigid polycyclic alkyl fluorides with common sets of substituents covering a wide range of electronic effects were calculated using the DFT‐GIAO theoretical model. The level of theory, B3LYP/6–311+G(2d,p), was chosen based on trial calculations which gave good agreement with experimental values where known. The optimized geometries were used to obtain various molecular parameters (fluorine natural charges, electron occupancies on fluorine of lone pairs and of the C? F bond, and hybridization states) by means of natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis which could help in understanding electronic transmission mechanisms underlying 19F substituent chemical shifts (SCS) in these systems. Linear regression analysis was employed to explore the relationship between the calculated 19F SCS and polar substituent constants and also the NBO derived molecular parameters. The 19F SCS are best described by an electronegativity parameter. The most pertinent molecular parameters appear to be the occupation number of the NBO p‐type fluorine lone pair and the occupation number of the C? F antibonding orbital. This trend suggests that in these types of rigid saturated systems hyperconjugative interactions play a key role in determining the 19F SCS. Electrostatic field effects appear to be relatively unimportant. Copyright © 2003 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

(19)F isotropic chemical shifts for alkali, alkaline earth and rare earth of column 3 basic fluorides are measured and the corresponding isotropic chemical shieldings are calculated using the GIPAW method. When using the PBE exchange-correlation functional for the treatment of the cationic localized empty orbitals of Ca(2+), Sc(3+) (3d) and La(3+) (4f), a correction is needed to accurately calculate (19)F chemical shieldings. We show that the correlation between experimental isotropic chemical shifts and calculated isotropic chemical shieldings established for the studied compounds allows us to predict (19)F NMR spectra of crystalline compounds with a relatively good accuracy. In addition, we experimentally determine the quadrupolar parameters of (25)Mg in MgF(2) and calculate the electric field gradients of (25)Mg in MgF(2) and (139)La in LaF(3) using both PAW and LAPW methods. The orientation of the EFG components in the crystallographic frame, provided by DFT calculations, is analysed in terms of electron densities. It is shown that consideration of the quadrupolar charge deformation is essential for the analysis of slightly distorted environments or highly irregular polyhedra.  相似文献

Simple mixing or shaking of alkaline earth hydroxides with ammonium fluoride results in nanocrystalline phase pure metal fluorides MF2 (M: Ca, Sr, Ba). The formation of the alkaline earth fluorides was investigated by varying the reaction conditions. Evidence was found that just the contact between the starting materials is sufficient for the reaction to take place. X‐ray diffraction, elemental analysis, 19F MAS NMR spectroscopy, and measurements of DC conductivities were used to characterize the fluorides regarding properties like crystal structure, crystallite sizes, local fluorine coordination, and fluorine ion conductivity. The 19F MAS NMR spectra of the phase pure fluorides prepared showed several signals, which were assigned to defects, impurities, or geometric distortions. The fluorides prepared by mixing or shaking revealed fluorine ion conductivities several orders of magnitude higher than observed for the respective microcrystalline alkaline earth fluorides. Therefore, the synthesis routine presented in this study may open a path to a very quick and simple synthesis of nanocrystalline fast fluorine ion conductors.  相似文献

Structures of selected 3,6‐dihalogeno‐N‐alkyl carbazole derivatives were calculated at the B3LYP/6‐311++G(3df,2pd) level of theory, and their 13C nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) isotropic shieldings were predicted using density functional theory (DFT). The model compounds contained 9H, N‐methyl and N‐ethyl derivatives. The relativistic effect of Br and I atoms on nuclear shieldings was modeled using the spin–orbit zeroth‐order regular approximation (ZORA) method. Significant heavy atom shielding effects for the carbon atom directly bonded with Br and I were observed (~?10 and ~?30 ppm while the other carbon shifts were practically unaffected). The decreasing electronegativity of the halogen substituent (F, Cl, Br, and I) was reflected in both nonrelativistic and relativistic NMR results as decreased values of chemical shifts of carbon atoms attached to halogen (C3 and C6) leading to a strong sensitivity to halogen atom type at 3 and 6 positions of the carbazole ring. The predicted NMR data correctly reproduce the available experimental data for unsubstituted N‐alkylcarbazoles. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A number of most representative second order polarization propagator approach (SOPPA) based wavefunction methods, SOPPA, SOPPA(CC2) and SOPPA(CCSD), and density functional theory (DFT) based methods, B3LYP, PBE0, KT2, and KT3, have been benchmarked in the calculation of the one‐bond 29Si‐1H spin‐spin coupling constants in the series of halosilanes SiHnX4?n (X = F, Cl, Br, I), both at the non‐relativistic and full four‐parameter Dirac's relativistic levels taking into account vibrational corrections. At the non‐relativistic level, the wavefunction methods showed much better results as compared with those of DFT. At the DFT level, out of four tested functionals, the Perdew, Burke, and Ernzerhof's PBE0 showed best performance. Taking into account, relativistic effects and vibrational corrections noticeably improves wavefunction methods results, but generally worsens DFT results. The performance of wavefunction‐based correlation methods in theoretical solid‐state chemistry depends on reliable Hartree–Fock (HF) results for infinitly extended systems. Therefore, we optimized basis sets of valence‐triple‐ζ quality based on HF calculations for the periodic system of group‐12‐metal difluorides. Scalar‐relativistic effects were included in the case of the metal‐ions by applying small‐core pseudopotentials. To assess the quality of the proposed basis sets, the structural parameters, bulk moduli as well as cohesive and lattice energies of the systems were evaluated at the HF and the density functional theory levels. In addition to these two mean‐field approaches and to assess further employment of our basis sets to wavefunction‐based correlation methods we performed periodic local MP2 computations. Finally, the possibilities of pressure induced structural phase transitions occurring in the ZnF2, CdF2, and HgF2 were investigated. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Relativistic density functional theory (DFT) has been applied to the calculation of the 19F nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) chemical shifts of the title compounds. It is shown that, while large‐core effective core potentials (ECP) fail completely for the calculation of ligand NMR chemical shifts in uranium compounds, small‐core ECPs are a valid relativistic method for this purpose. In an earlier study of the same systems, certain differences between theory and experiment had been observed, for instance, in the relative chemical shift of the A4 and X sites in UF5Cl. The reason for these deviations has been investigated further in the current paper. By comparing different relativistic methods, it is shown that the relativistic approximation is not responsible for these deviations. The role of the approximation to the exchange‐correlation (XC) functional of DFT has been probed, and generalized gradient approximations (GGA) as well as hybrid DFT methods have been investigated. None of these methods corrects the mentioned errors. It is argued that the neglect of environmental factors (solvent effects) remains as a possible error source, although the approximate XC functional appears to be the more likely cause of the problem. 235U NMR shieldings and chemical shifts have been calculated, and the trends predicted earlier have been confirmed. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The pi‐nature of a CF3 group can be understood through analysis of its bond orbitals (BOs) mixed into the pi‐type molecular orbitals of CF3‐substituted Ir(ppy)2MDPA+ complexes (ppy=2‐phenyl‐pyridine and MDPA=methylated 2,2′‐dipyridyl amine). It has been found that, through this natural bond orbital analysis, the parent’s molecular orbitals (MOs) can be stabilized by χρ*CF BO via negative hyperconjugation and, simultaneously, destabilized by electron lp(F) BO. Since these two competing pi‐effects are virtually counterbalanced as indicated by the vanishing values of crystal orbital overlap populations, the chemical substitution strategy originated from lowering of HOMO by using this electron‐withdrawing CF3 group has been found effective in color‐tuning to blue region. Based on reduced shielding effect due to de‐ creased χρ‐electron density, the reported position dependent CF3‐substitution effects on pi‐type MOs can also be understood through HOMO/LUMO wavefunction analysis.  相似文献

Density functional theory calculations were performed at the B3LYP/6‐311++G(d,p) level to systematically explore the geometrical multiplicity and binding strength for the complexes formed by alkaline and alkaline earth metal cations, viz. Li+, Na+, K+, Be2+, Mg2+, and Ca2+ (Mn+, hereinafter), with 2‐(3′‐hydroxy‐2′‐pyridyl)benzoxazole. A total of 60 initial structures were designed and optimized, of which 51 optimized structures were found, which could be divided into two different types: monodentate complexes and bidentate complexes. In the cation‐heteroatom complex, bidentate binding is generally stronger than monodentate binding, and of which the bidentate binding with five‐membered ring structure has the strongest interaction. Energy decomposition revealed that the total binding energies mainly come from electrostatic interaction for alkaline metal ion complexes and orbital interaction energy for alkaline earth metal ion complex. In addition, the electron localization function analysis show that only the Be? O and Be? N bond are covalent character, and others are ionic character. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

We present a computational study of magnetic‐shielding and quadrupolar‐coupling tensors of 43Ca sites in crystalline solids. A comparison between periodic and cluster‐based approaches for modeling solid‐state interactions demonstrates that cluster‐based approaches are suitable for predicting 43Ca NMR parameters. Several model chemistries, including Hartree–Fock theory and 17 DFT approximations (SVWN, CA‐PZ, PBE, PBE0, PW91, B3PW91, rPBE, PBEsol, WC, PKZB, BMK, M06‐L, M06, M06‐2X, M06‐HF, TPSS, and TPSSh), are evaluated for the prediction of 43Ca NMR parameters. Convergence of NMR parameters with respect to basis sets of the form cc‐pVXZ (X = D, T, Q) is also evaluated. All DFT methods lead to substantial, and frequently systematic, overestimations of experimental chemical shifts. Hartree–Fock calculations outperform all DFT methods for the prediction of 43Ca chemical‐shift tensors. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

The 3He nuclear magnetic shieldings were calculated for free helium atom and He–pyrrole, He–indole, and He–carbazole complexes. Several levels of theory, including Hartree–Fock (HF), Second‐order Møller‐Plesset Perturbation Theory (MP2), and Density Functional Theory (DFT) (VSXC, M062X, APFD, BHandHLYP, and mPW1PW91), combined with polarization‐consistent pcS‐2 and aug‐pcS‐2 basis sets were employed. Gauge‐including atomic orbital (GIAO) calculated 3He nuclear magnetic shieldings reproduced accurately previously reported theoretical values for helium gas. 3He nuclear magnetic shieldings and energy changes as result of single helium atom approaching to the five‐membered ring of pyrrole, indole, and carbazole were tested. It was observed that 3He NMR parameters of single helium atom, calculated at various levels of theory (HF, MP2, and DFT) are sensitive to the presence of heteroatomic rings. The helium atom was insensitive to the studied molecules at distances above 5 Å. Our results, obtained with BHandHLYP method, predicted fairly accurately the He–pyrrole plane separation of 3.15 Å (close to 3.24 Å, calculated by MP2) and yielded a sizable 3He NMR chemical shift (about ?1.5 ppm). The changes of calculated nucleus‐independent chemical shifts (NICS) with the distance above the rings showed a very similar pattern to helium‐3 NMR chemical shift. The ring currents above the five‐membered rings were seen by helium magnetic probe to about 5 Å above the ring planes verified by the calculated NICS index. The structure and properties of the Li(HF)3Li cluster with C3h symmetry are investigated using ab initio calculations. This Li(HF)3Li is a metal–nonmetal–metal sandwich‐like cluster connected mainly by the intermolecular interactions. In the special cluster, the (HF)3 containing the triangular F ring with the negative charges is sandwiched between two Li atom. It is interesting that under the action of the triangular F ring with the negative charges, the valence electrons of two Li atoms are pushed out to form the distended excess electron cloud that surrounds the Li(HF)3Li as a core. So the Li(HF)3Li cluster shows not only the electride characteristic, but new superatom characteristics as well. Several characteristics of the special superatom are found. First, the superatom contains the double shell nucleus. The internal nucleus is the regular triangular ring made of three F atoms with the negative charge and the outer‐shell nucleus is made up of three H and two Li atoms with the positive charge. Second, the bonding force of this superatom framework is mainly the intermolecular interaction force, the lithium bond, which is different from that (covalent bond or ionic bond) of the general superatom. Third, the interaction between the outer‐shell nucleus and the excess electron cloud is mainly the anti‐excess‐electron hydrogen bond. Fourth, the special superatom exhibits the new aromaticity (NICS = ?8.37 ppm at the center of the regular triangular F ring), which is the aromaticity found in the cluster of the intermolecular interaction. This is the new knowledge of the aromaticity. Fifth, the large polarizability of the superatom is revealed. Further, the vertical ionization energy (VIE) of the superatom is low, 4.51 eV (<5.210 eV of the alkaline–earth metal Ba) so that it may be viewed as a superalkaline–earth metal atom. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A linear correlation between isotropic nuclear magnetic shielding constants for seven model molecules (CH2O, H2O, HF, F2, HCN, SiH4 and H2S) calculated with 37 methods (34 density functionals, RHF, MP2 and CCSD(T)), with affordable pcS‐2 basis set and corresponding complete basis set results, estimated from calculations with the family of polarization‐consistent pcS‐n basis sets is reported. This dependence was also supported by inspection of profiles of deviation between CBS estimated nuclear shieldings and shieldings obtained with the significantly smaller basis sets pcS‐2 and aug‐cc‐pVTZ‐J for the selected set of 37 calculation methods. It was possible to formulate a practical approach of estimating the values of isotropic nuclear magnetic shielding constants at the CCSD(T)/CBS and MP2/CBS levels from affordable CCSD(T)/pcS‐2, MP2/pcS‐2 and DFT/CBS calculations with pcS‐n basis sets. The proposed method leads to a fairly accurate estimation of nuclear magnetic shieldings and considerable saving of computational efforts. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A series of transition‐metal organometallic complexes with commonly occurring metal? chlorine bonding motifs were characterized using 35Cl solid‐state NMR (SSNMR) spectroscopy, 35Cl nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) spectroscopy, and first‐principles density functional theory (DFT) calculations of NMR interaction tensors. Static 35Cl ultra‐wideline NMR spectra were acquired in a piecewise manner at standard (9.4 T) and high (21.1 T) magnetic field strengths using the WURST‐QCPMG pulse sequence. The 35Cl electric field gradient (EFG) and chemical shielding (CS) tensor parameters were readily extracted from analytical simulations of the spectra; in particular, the quadrupolar parameters are shown to be very sensitive to structural differences, and can easily differentiate between chlorine atoms in bridging and terminal bonding environments. 35Cl NQR spectra were acquired for many of the complexes, which aided in resolving structurally similar, yet crystallographically distinct and magnetically inequivalent chlorine sites, and with the interpretation and assignment of 35Cl SSNMR spectra. 35Cl EFG tensors obtained from first‐principles DFT calculations are consistently in good agreement with experiment, highlighting the importance of using a combined approach of theoretical and experimental methods for structural characterization. Finally, a preliminary example of a 35Cl SSNMR spectrum of a transition‐metal species (TiCl4) diluted and supported on non‐porous silica is presented. The combination of 35Cl SSNMR and 35Cl NQR spectroscopy and DFT calculations is shown to be a promising and simple methodology for the characterization of all manner of chlorine‐containing transition‐metal complexes, in pure, impure bulk and supported forms.  相似文献

Efficient B3LYP and BHandH density functionals were used to estimate methanol's nuclear magnetic isotropic shieldings and spin–spin coupling constants in the basis set limit. Polarization‐consistent pcS‐n and pcJ‐n (n = 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4), and segmented contracted XZP, where X = D, T, Q and 5, basis sets were used and the results fitted with simple mathematical formulas. The performance of the methods was assessed from comparison with experiment and higher level calculations. 1J(CH) and 3J(HH) values were determined from very diluted solutions in deuterochloroform and compared with theoretical predictions. The agreement between complete basis set (CBS) density functional theory (DFT) predicted isotropic shieldings and spin–spin values and experiment was good. The BHandH/pcS‐n methanol shieldings obtained using structures optimized at the same level of theory are approaching the accuracy of the advanced coupled‐cluster‐singles‐doubles‐approximate triples (CCSD(T)) calculations. Two kinds of novel styryl chemosensory 2‐FMNC and 3‐FMNC, were designed and synthesized by an apporiate introduction of 9‐benzylidene‐9H‐fluorene group as fluorophore with the aim at avoiding photoisomerisation. These 9‐benzylidene‐9H‐fluorene derivatives showed the similar selectivity and sensitivity upon addition of metal ions. The sensitivity of FMNC to alkaline earth metal ions was Ba2+>Sr2+>Ca2+≈Mg2+.  相似文献

The 31P chemical shift (CS) tensors of the 1,3,2‐diazaphospholenium cation 1 and the P‐chloro‐1,3,2‐diazaphospholenes 2 and 3 and the 31P and 19F CS tensors of the P‐fluoro‐1,3,2‐diazaphospholene 4 were characterized by solid‐state 31P and 19F NMR studies and quantum chemical model calculations. The computed orientation of the principal axes system of the 31P and 19F CS tensors in the P‐fluoro compound was found to be in good agreement with experimentally derived values obtained from evaluation of P–F dipolar interactions. A comparison of the trends in the chemical shifts of 1 – 4 with further available literature data confirms that the unique high shielding of δ11 in the cation 1 can be related to the effective π‐conjugation in the five‐membered heterocycle, and that a further systematic decrease in δ11 for the P‐halogen derivatives 2 – 4 is attributable to the increased perturbation of the π‐electron distribution by interaction with the halide donor. We report X‐ray crystallographic and 19F NMR studies of the G‐protein RhoA complexed with MgF3, GDP, and RhoGAP, which has the mutation Arg85′Ala. When combined with DFT calculations, these data permit the identification of changes in transition state (TS) properties. The X‐ray data show how Tyr34 maintains solvent exclusion and the core H‐bond network in the active site by relocating to replace the missing Arg85′ sidechain. The 19F NMR data show deshielding effects that indicate the main function of Arg85′ is electronic polarization of the transferring phosphoryl group, primarily mediated by H‐bonding to O3G and thence to PG. DFT calculations identify electron‐density redistribution and pinpoint why the TS for guanosine 5′‐triphosphate (GTP) hydrolysis is higher in energy when RhoA is complexed with RhoGAPArg85′Ala relative to wild‐type (WT) RhoGAP. This study demonstrates that 19F NMR measurements, in combination with X‐ray crystallography and DFT calculations, can reliably dissect the response of small GTPases to site‐specific modifications.  相似文献

Density functional theory (DFT) was used to estimate water's isotropic nuclear shieldings and indirect nuclear spin–spin coupling constants (SSCCs) in the Kohn–Sham (KS) complete basis set (CBS) limit. Correlation‐consistent cc‐pVxZ and cc‐pCVxZ (x = D, T, Q, 5, and 6), and their modified versions (ccJ‐pVxZ, unc‐ccJ‐pVxZ, and aug‐cc‐pVTZ‐J) and polarization‐consistent pc‐n and pcJ‐n (n = 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4) basis sets were used, and the results fitted with a simple mathematical formula. The performance of over 20 studied density functionals was assessed from comparison with the experiment. The agreement between the CBS DFT‐predicted isotropic shieldings, spin–spin values, and the experimental values was good and similar for the modified correlation‐consistent and polarization‐consistent basis sets. The BHandH method predicted the most accurate 1H, 17O isotropic shieldings and 1J(OH) coupling constant (deviations from experiment of about ? 0.2 and ? 1 ppm and 0.6 Hz, respectively). The performance of BHandH for predicting water isotropic shieldings and 1J(OH) is similar to the more advanced methods, second‐order polarization propagator approximation (SOPPA) and SOPPA(CCSD), in the basis set limit.
