A simple method to change and keep track of neutron beam polarization non-parallel to the magnetic field is described. It makes possible the establishment of a new focusing effect we call neutron spin echo. The technique developed and tested experimentally can be applied in several novel ways, e. g. for neutron spin flipper of superior characteristics, for a very high resolution spectrometer for direct determination of the Fourier transform of the scattering function, for generalised polarization analysis and for the measurement of neutron particle properties with significantly improved precision.  相似文献

Expansion of a detection area is an effective method to increase the measurement efficiency of a neutron spin echo (NSE) spectrometer as well as other spectrometers. For this purpose, we installed a new π/2 spin flipper and Fresnel coil of iNSE spectrometer at JRR-3, Tokai, Japan, for wide-area data acquisition. In this study, we propose a data reduction method to correct the phase inhomogeneity due to the path difference of neutrons on the large detection area. This method can convert many NSE signals at small areas to one NSE signal at a large area with taking the phase offset due to the phase inhomogeneity into account. The measurement efficiency increased by approximately one order of magnitude as a result of the detection area expansion.  相似文献

为节省极化中子散射谱仪传输光路的空间,实现特定冷中子谱的极化中子高效率自旋翻转,使用在空间上自然衰减的前端多层膜极化器静磁场作为中子自旋倒相器的导向磁场,在空间上形成了紧凑型冷中子自旋倒相器设计模型。介绍了实际模型物理参数的计算方法。对前端极化器静磁场在空间上的自然衰减进行了实验测试,根据测试结果及拟使用冷中子波段,针对设计的紧凑型中子自旋倒相器的相关参数进行了优化计算。模拟了极化中子在实际复合磁场中的自旋翻转图像,计算了自旋倒相器的翻转效率。对设计的紧凑型中子自旋倒相器进行了翻转效率物理实验测试,测试结果表明:设计的中子自旋倒相器翻转效率可在99.2%以上,达到了预期设计指标,可用于极化冷中子散射谱仪。  相似文献

An application of magnetic Compton scattering as a new tool to measure a spin‐specific magnetic hysteresis (SSMH) loop is introduced and its validity demonstrated. The applied magnetic field dependence of the integrated intensity of magnetic Compton scattering spectra, which reflect only the spin‐dependent magnetic properties of magnetically active electrons, was interpreted as the spin‐specific hysteresis. The spin magnetization of amorphous Tb33Co67 film was observed and its SSMH loop exhibited qualitative agreement with the ordinal magnetic hysteresis loop measured using a conventional vibrating sample magnetometer.  相似文献

Induced and parametric excitation of spin waves by a light field and light-induced spin echo are considered. The static and steady-state dynamic magnetizations in the light field are determined, and the phase diagrams of the system in magnetic and light fields are constructed. The threshold of parametric excitation, the amplitude of stationary oscillations, and the trajectories described by the end point of the magnetic moment vector are calculated for the case of light-induced nonlinear ferromagnetic resonance. The trajectories can be topologically different. The transition between states with different trajectories occurs as a phase transition. The parameters of the light-induced spin echo are determined.  相似文献

Spin echo NMR signals in magnetic materials (simple metals, alloys or intermetallic compounds) generally result from mixed contributions of distinct magnetic regions of the sample, the magnetic domains and the domain walls. The amplitude of the signal is proportional to the so-called enhancement factor which in most of the cases greatly differs in these two regions, depending upon the wall mobility, the magnetic anisotropy, etc. The experimental access to domain and domain walls is possible, in principle, by a careful control of the RF power applied to the sample. In this paper a simple superposition model is proposed which includes both contributions to the NMR signal. We calculate the amplitude of the spin echo in magnetic powder samples and compare it with experimental situations where it has been possible to separate different contributions to the signal. This has been done in some RCo2 magnetic rare-earth intermetallic compounds by analyzing the spectral line widths and the curve of the spin echo amplitude versus the applied RF field. Despite its simplicity, the present model allows the understanding of the main features of the NMR spectra and the dependence of the echo amplitude with the RF power in these compounds.  相似文献

In the neutron resonance spin echo (NRSE) spectrometer [1] the divergent beam provides the deviation of the flight length, which makes the phase difference between neutron spin states and also decreases the contrast of the spin echo signals. The flight length can be adjusted by using parabolic focusing mirrors [11], which can be fabricated with replica technique. Correction for beam divergence effect in the NRSE spectrometer using 2D-focusing supermirrors will be discussed.  相似文献

Polarized neutron scattering experiments have demonstrated that Dy/Y multilayer structures possess a coherent spin helix with a preferable chirality induced by the magnetic field. The average chirality, being proportional to the difference in the left- and right-handed helix population numbers, is measured as a polarization-dependent asymmetric part of the magnetic neutron scattering. The magnetic field applied in the plane of the sample upon cooling below T(N) is able to repopulate the otherwise equal population numbers for the left- and right-handed helixes. The experimental results strongly indicate that the chirality is caused by Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction due to the lack of the symmetry inversion on the interfaces.  相似文献

Spin echo formation in magnetic field gradients in the presence of fast stochastic motion is studied for hyperpolarized 3He gas at different diffusivities. The fast translational motion leads to frequency shifts already during echo formation, which can be described analytically for a linear gradient. Despite complete signal loss at the position of the spin echo itself, considerable intensity can be preserved at an earlier time (sqrt[2]tau rather than 2tau, where tau is the pulse delay). Hence, the phenomenon is designated as a pseudo spin echo.  相似文献

The influence of a uniform external magnetic field on the dynamical spin response of cuprate superconductors in the superconducting state is studied based on the kinetic energy driven superconducting mechanism. It is shown that the magnetic scattering around low and intermediate energies is dramatically changed with a modest external magnetic field. With increasing the external magnetic field, although the incommensurate magnetic scattering from both low and high energies is rather robust, the commensurate magnetic resonance scattering peak is broadened. The part of the spin excitation dispersion seems to be an hourglass-like dispersion, which breaks down at the heavily low energy regime. The theory also predicts that the commensurate resonance scattering at zero external magnetic field is induced into the incommensurate resonance scattering by applying an external magnetic field large enough.  相似文献

Continuous wave electron paramagnetic resonance imaging for in vivo mapping of spin distribution and spectral shape requires rapid data acquisition. A spectral-spatial imaging technique is presented that provides an order of magnitude reduction in acquisition time, compared to iterative tomographic reprojection. The proposed approach assumes that spectral shapes in the sample are well-approximated by members from a parametric family of functions. A model is developed for the spectra measured with magnetic field modulation. Parameters defining the spin distribution and spectral shapes are then determined directly from the measurements using maximum a posteriori probability estimation. The approach does not suffer approximation error from limited sweep width of the main magnetic field and explicitly incorporates the variability in signal-to-noise ratio versus strength of magnetic field gradient. The processing technique is experimentally demonstrated on a one-dimensional phantom containing a nitroxide spin label with constant g-factor. Using an L-band EPR spectrometer, spectral shapes and spin distribution are accurately recovered from two projections and a spectral window which is comparable to the maximum linewidth of the sample.  相似文献

A suitably matched combination of unidirectional gradient pulses of the radio frequency amplitude B(1) and of the main magnetic field B(0) produces an unconventional type of spin echo, the nutation echo. The echo signal becomes volume selective if the gradients to be matched are inhomogeneously distributed in space. An example is a combination of a constant B(0) gradient and the inhomogeneous B(1) gradient of a surface coil. We suggest a method for localized NMR on this basis. Nutation echoes can also be used to map the spatial distribution of B(1) gradients of an arbitrary radio frequency coil geometry with the aid of a small probe sample. A new echo type with free electrons in a slight inhomogeneous magnetic field excited by one electric and one magnetic pulse is calculated. Thus features of cyclotron echos and spin echoes are combined. The first electric pulse accelerates all (cold) particles to the same velocity as in the case of usual cyclotron echoes. The second magnetic pulse (at t = τ) rotates the plane of precession in phase space, quite in analogy to the motion of magnetic moments in the case of spin echoes. The echo arises at t = 2τ. The E-H echoes make relaxation and diffusion measurements in plasmas possible, using the methods proved useful in spin echo technique. There are no complications as in the case of E-E cyclotron echoes which are based on the fact that a velocity-dependent collision frequency is necessary for the nonlinearity of that echo mechanism.  相似文献

The zero field spin echo nmr spectrum of Gd4Co3 taken at 4.2 K is analysed and discussed on the basis of having magnetic moments of Co atoms at different structural lattice sites. For Y4Co3 the spin echo nmr spectrum taken as a function of the external field is discussed and explained on the basis of the coexistence of Co atoms carrying localized magnetic moments and paramagnetic Co atoms in this compound at determined structural sites.  相似文献

The method of nuclear spin-echo amplitude calculation based on the density matrix technique is improved. The Floquet–Lyapunov theorem for a system of the ordinary differential equations with coefficients periodically dependent on time is used to find the solution of the Schrödinger equation for the time-evolution operator which describes behavior of a nuclear spin in the presence of a radiofrequency pulsed magnetic field. NQR spin echo for the case of nuclear spin I?=?1 and NMR spin echo for I?=?1/2 are considered as the simplest illustrations of the approach. The appearance of multiple spin echoes is predicted in the case of strong radiofrequency field.  相似文献

Reviewed are the results of simulating the neutron scattering instruments with the program package VITESS upgraded by the routines for treating the polarized neutrons, as developed by the authors. The reported investigations have been carried out at the Frank Laboratory for Neutron Physics at JINR in collaboration with the Juelich research center (Germany). The performance of the resonance and gradient adiabatic spin flippers, the Drabkin resonator, the classical and resonance spin-echo spectrometers, the spin-echo diffractometer for the small-angle neutron scattering, and the spin-echo spectrometer with rotating magnetic fields is successfully modeled. The methods for using the 3D map of the magnetic field from the input file, either mapped experimentally or computed using the finite-elements technique, in the VITESS computer code, are considered in detail. The results of neutron-polarimetry experiments are adequately reproduced by our simulations.  相似文献

The detection conditions and features of direct and scattered neutron wave interference are studied on magnetized Co67Fe31V2 alloy slabs. The angular intensity distributions of neutrons passed through a sample are measured for the opposite polarization directions of the initial neutron beam. The sought-for effect that is induced by the magnetic scattering on crystal structure irregularities in specimens manifest itself by different areas of peaks “without neutron spin flip.” The ratio of these areas depends on the thermal treatment mode, sample thickness and strength of the magnetic field applied to the sample. The peaks “with neutron spin flip” are due to the mechanism of neutron wave passage through magnetononcollinear boundaries. The methods for experimental data acquisition and processing are reported as well.  相似文献
