The first sustainment of toroidal plasma current of 50 kA at up to 3 times the injected currents, added in quadrature, using steady inductive helicity injection is described. Separatrix currents-currents not linking the helicity injectors-are sustained up to 40 kA. Decreases in the n=1 toroidal mode of the poloidal magnetic field at higher current amplifications indicate more quiescent, direct toroidal current drive. Results are achieved in HIT-SI (with a spheromak of major radius 0.3 m) during deuterium operations immediately after helium operation. These results represent a breakthrough in the development of this new current drive method for magnetic confinement fusion. 相似文献

The first successful results on the transfer of a coaxial helicity injection (CHI) produced discharge to inductive operation are reported. CHI-assisted plasma startup is more robust than inductive only operation. After hand off for inductive operation, the initial 90 kA of CHI-produced current drops to 40 kA, then ramps up to 170 kA, using only 30 mV s, more than 30% higher than that produced by induction alone. These significant performance enhancing results were obtained on the HIT-II spherical torus experiment (major/minor radius of 0.3/0.2 m). 相似文献

A quasisteady reversed shear plasma with a large bootstrap current fraction ( approximately 80%) has been obtained for the first time in the JT-60U tokamak. The shrinkage of reversed shear region was suppressed by the bootstrap current peaked at the internal transport barrier (ITB) layer and the ITBs at a large radius were sustained, which, by combination with an H-mode edge pedestal, resulted in a high confinement or 2.2 times the H-mode scaling for 6 times energy confinement time or 2.7 s. Furthermore, a full noninductive current drive was obtained by the bootstrap current and the beam driven current. 相似文献

A model is formulated and evaluated for a Uniform electrical discharge sustained in vapor evaporated from an arc-heated anode. The plasma potential is positive with respect to both the cathode and anode. For a Cu anode, the anodic vapor dominates the plasma for current densities exceeding 8 kA/m2. The anode heating potential is approximately 6.5 V, and the dominant cooling mechanism is evaporation for current densities exceeding 20 kA/m2. Over the range 10 to 10000 kA/m2, the electron density increases from 8×1017 to 5×1023 m-3, while the ionization fraction rises from 0.3% to 4%. At the lower end of this current range the electrical resistivity of 4 mΩ-m is determined primarily by electron-neutral collisions, while with increasing current the resistivity decreases to 0.7 mΩ-m, with electron-ion collisions contributing an equal share. 托卡马克是一种产生高温环形等离子体的聚变实验装置,也是一类复杂的现代化的电物理装备。CT-6是我国首先投入运行的小型托卡马克装置,其主要参数为:大半径45cm;小半径9.2cm;环向磁场2TL;等离子电流30kA;经过调试阶段,达到了预期目标,产生了平衡、稳定的电子温度为250eV左右的环形高温等离子体。CT-6由电磁系统(包括环向场、涡旋场、平衡场)、超高真空系统(包括环形真空室和抽气机组)、电源控制系统和诊断测量系统等部份组成,它是由中国科学院物理研究所、电工研究所及其他许多单位协作研制成功的。本文描述CT-6装置的设计、结构、工程研制和调试过程,以及有关的试验结果。

By using an expansion technique based on the tokamak ordering, the Grad-Shafranov equation is analytically solved for tokamak equilibrium sustained by a full bootstrap current. This approximate approach is suitable for equilibria with non-circular cross-sections of modest ellipse and triangular deformations. As an input parameter set, the plasma pressure profile and the electron and the ion temperature profiles can be selected as arbitrary functions of the averaged minor radius. Equilibrium properties of this plasma are discussed. 相似文献

A differential laser Doppler system has been used in conjunction with a self-triggered oscillographic raster display system for measuring particle concentrations and flow velocities in a model gas-blast circuit breaker. The flow velocities have been correlated with particle size to enable extrapolation to be made to determine the true plasma flow velocity. The results have been deconvoluted to take account of lateral movements of the arc column. The measurements have been taken with air as the host arcing medium and a flow through a 25-mm-diameter orifice sustained by an upstream pressure of about 7 bar (downstream pressure 1 bar). The arc was sustained by sinusoidal cuffents of peak values 3 and 8 kA and a frequency of 85 Hz. These two currents corresponded to conditions when the model circuit breaker successfully and unsuccessfully interrupted the arc-sustaining current, respectively. The results show that in the case of the 8-kA arc, the flow pattern is severely distorted from that under nonarcing conditions, suggesting that this is a contributory reason for the poorer perfonnance of the model circuit breaker at this higher current level. 相似文献

In the ASDEX Upgrade tokamak, high poloidal beta up to beta(pol) = 3 at the Greenwald density with H-mode confinement has been reached. Because of the high beta, the plasma current is driven almost fully noninductively, consisting of 51% bootstrap and 43% neutral beam driven current. To reach these conditions the discharge is operated at low plasma current ( I(P) = 400 kA) and high neutral beam heating power ( P(NBI) = 10 MW). The discharge combines an edge (H mode) and internal transport barrier at high densities without confinement-limiting MHD activities. The extrapolation to higher plasma currents may offer a promising way for an advanced scenario based fusion reactor. 相似文献

An experimental and theoretical study of a railgun plasma is presented. The experimental results have been obtained by recording the voltage and current variations as well as the spectral emission of the plasma. The gas pressure, helium, or air in contact with the exploding foil has been varied from 0.1 to 2 MPa. The apparatus consisted of a test chamber simulating a railgun facility. To complete the study, some measurements of the plasma characteristics in the 500-kJ EMA 1 railgun system have been recorded. It is shown that the resistance of the plasma, which is 15 mΩ at 10 kA, decreases to 0.2 mΩ at 500 kA. These results indicate the effect of the energy flow to the walls and that of the ionization potential of the gas in contact with the exploding foil at lower currents 相似文献

Results are reported of experiments performed on a model air-blast circuit breaker to determine the distribution of voltage along the axis of the arc gap during the current zero period, following half sinusoidal current pulses of frequency 85 Hz. The air-blast was sustained by a reservoir pressure of 6.89 × 105 N/m2. Measurements were made following peak currents of 3 and 8 kA, with copper and carbon upstream cathodes, different separations of upstream cathode from nozzle inlet and different conditions downstream of the nozzle throat. The results have enabled the conductance decays at various axial positions to be determined and these have been related to the improved circuit breaking performance observed by other authors when the nozzle and arc gap geometries are optimized. Although a detailed theoretical analysis awaits the measurement of other fundamental plasma properties, an approximate evaluation of the role played by various basic processes has been made. 相似文献
