Double quantum dots offer unique possibilities for the study of many-body correlations. A system containing one Kondo dot and one effectively noninteracting dot maps onto a single-impurity Anderson model with a structured (nonconstant) density of states. Numerical renormalization-group calculations show that, while band filtering through the resonant dot splits the Kondo resonance, the singlet ground state is robust. The system can also be continuously tuned to create a pseudogapped density of states and access a quantum-critical point separating Kondo and non-Kondo phases. 相似文献

We investigate the Kondo effect in a quantum dot with almost degenerate spin-singlet and triplet states for an even number of electrons. We show that the Kondo temperature as a function of the energy difference between the states Delta reaches its maximum around Delta = 0 and decreases with increasing Delta. The Kondo effect is thus enhanced by competition between singlet and triplet states. Our results explain recent experimental findings. We evaluate the linear conductance in the perturbative regime. 相似文献

A new mechanism of resonance Kondo tunneling via a composite quantum dot (QD) is proposed. It is shown that, owing to the hidden dynamic spin symmetry, the Kondo effect can be induced by a finite voltage eV applied to the contacts at an even number N of electrons in a QD with zero spin in the ground state. As an example, a double QD is considered in a parallel geometry with N=2, which possesses the SO(4) type symmetry characteristic of a singlet-triplet pair. In this system, the Kondo peak of conductance appears at an eV value compensating for the exchange splitting. 相似文献

Based on the nonequilibrium Green' function method, the spin-dependent Fano effect through parallel-coupled double quantum dots has been investigated by taking account of both Rashba spin-orbit interaction and intradot Coulomb interaction. It is shown that the quantum interference through the bonding, antibonding states and through their Coulomb blockade counterparts may result in two Breit-Wigner resonances and two Fano resonances in the conductance spectra. Moreover, the Fano lineshape of the two spin components can be modulated by Rashba spin-orbit interaction when the magnetic flux is switched on. 相似文献

The ground state binding energy and the average interparticle distances for a hydrogenic impurity in double quantum dots with Gaussian confinement potential are studied by the variational method. The probability density of the electron is calculated, too. The dependence of the binding energy on the impurity position is investigated for GaAs quantum dots. The result shows that the binding energy has a minimum as a function of the distance between the two quantum dots when the impurity is located at the center of one quantum dot or at the center of the edge of one quantum dot. When the impurity is located at the center of the two dots, the binding energy decreases monotonically. 相似文献

We analyze the transport through asymmetric double quantum dots with an inhomogeneous Zeeman splitting in the presence of crossed dc and ac magnetic fields.A strong spin-polarized current can be obtained by changing the dc magnetic field. It is mainly due to the resonant tunnelling. But for the ferromagnetic right electrode, the electron spin resonance also plays an important role in transport. We show that the double quantum dots with three-level mixing under crossed dc and ac magnetic fields can act not only as a bipolar spin filter but also as a spin inverter under suitable conditions. 相似文献

In this Letter, we investigate the transport through a T-shaped double quantum dot coupled to two normal metal leads left and right and a superconducting lead. Analytical expressions of Andreev transmission and local density of states of the system at zero temperature have been obtained. We study the role of the superconducting lead in the quantum interferometric features of the double quantum dot. We report for first time the Fano effect produced by Andreev bound states in a side quantum dot. Our results show that as a consequence of quantum interference and proximity effect, the transmission from normal to normal lead exhibits Fano resonances due to Andreev bound states. We find that this interference effect allows us to study the Andreev bound states in the changes in the conductance between two normal leads. 相似文献

We investigate entanglement between electrons in
serially coupled double quantum dots attached to noninteracting
leads. In addition to local repulsion we consider the influence of
capacitive inter-dot interaction. We show how the competition
between extended Kondo and local singlet phases determines the
ground state and thereby the entanglement. The results are
additionally discussed in connection with the linear conductance
through the system. 相似文献

Using an equation-of-motion technique, we theoretically study the
Fano--Kondo effect in the T-shaped double quantum dots coupled to
two ferromagnetic leads by the Anderson Hamiltonian. We calculate
the density of states in this system with both parallel and
antiparallel lead-polarization alignments, and our results reveal
that the interdot coupling, the spin-polarized strength and the
energy level of the side coupled quantum dot greatly influence the
density of states of the central quantum dot. This system is a
possible candidate for spin valve transistors and may have potential
applications in the spintronics. 相似文献

The quantum dynamics of the symmetry-broken λ(Φ
2)2 scalar-field theory in the presence of an homogeneous external field is investigated in the large-N limit. We consider an initial thermal state of temperature T for a constant external field J. A subsequent sign flip of the external field, J→ - J, gives rise to an out-of-equilibrium nonperturbative quantum field dynamics. We review here the dynamics for the symmetry-broken
λ(Φ
2)2 scalar N component field theory in the large-N limit, with particular stress in the comparison between the results when the initial temperature is zero and when it is finite.
The presence of a finite temperature modifies the dynamical effective potential for the expectation value, and also makes
that the transition between the two regimes of the early dynamics occurs for lower values of the external field. The two regimes
are characterized by the presence or absence of a temporal trapping close to the metastable equilibrium position of the potential.
In the cases when the trapping occurs it is shorter for larger initial temperatures. 相似文献

We investigate symmetrically coupled double quantum dots via the hierarchical equations of motion method and propose a novel zero-energy mode(ZEM) at a temperature above the spin singlet–triplet transition temperature. Owing to the resonance of electron quasi-particle and hole quasi-particle, ZEM has a peak at ω = 0 in the spectral density function. We further examine the effect of the magnetic field on the ZEM, where an entanglement of spin and charge has been determined; therefore, the magnetic field can split the ZEM in the spectra. 相似文献

We report observation of Coulomb blockade lifting in GaAs vertical double quantum dot caused by cotunneling processes. One
characteristic feature of investigated sample is relatively low potential barriers between dots and reservoirs, which makes
cotunneling processes favorable. The measurement of current through the sample under variable bias and gate voltages was carried
out at temperature of dilution refrigerator 10 mK. Several distinct features, specific to double dot, were observed and appropriate
explanation for them was given. 相似文献

The tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) in an Aharonov–Bohm interferometer with two quantum dots inserted in its arms, which is attached to ferromagnetic leads with parallel and antiparallel magnetic configurations, is theoretically studied by means of the nonequilibrium Green’s function technique. We pay particular attention to the influence of an applied magnetic flux on the characteristics of the TMR. In the linear response regime (the external bias voltage V→0) and when the electrons are free from intradot Coulomb interaction, the magnetic flux only changes the peak or dip positions of the TMR. But in the presence of intradot Coulomb repulsion, its peak or dip positions, signs and magnitude are tuned by the magnetic flux. For the nonlinear response regime (V≠0), the TMR is symmetric with respect to zero bias voltage and the magnetic flux can influence its magnitude, signs and the peak positions regardless of the existence of intradot Coulomb interaction. The behavior of the TMR is interpreted in terms of the quantum interference (Fano) effect. 相似文献

The spatial structure of excitons and the oscillator strength characterizing the intensity of interband optical transitions in vertically coupled Ge/Si quantum dots have been theoretically studied. It has been found that the probability of the exciton transition under certain conditions (the sizes of the quantum dots, the separation of the dots) can be much larger (up to a factor of 5) than the value for the case of single quantum dots. It is expected that the results will make it possible to approach the creation of efficient light-emitting and photoreceiving devices based on Si and Ge indirect-band semiconductors. 相似文献

Nonequilibrium transport through double quantum dots: Kondo effect versus antiferromagnetic coupling
We theoretically study the nonequilibrium transport properties of double quantum dots, in both series and parallel configurations. Our results lead to novel experimental predictions that unambiguously signal the transition from a Kondo state to an antiferromagnetic spin-singlet state, directly reflecting the physics of the two-impurity Kondo problem. We prove that the nonlinear conductance through parallel dots directly measures the exchange constant J between the spins of the dots. In serial dots, the nonlinear conductance provides an upper bound on J. 相似文献

We study the thermoelectric transport through a double-quantum-dot system with spin-dependent interdot coupling and ferromagnetic electrodes by means of the non-equilibrium Green’s function in the linear response regime. It is found that the thermoelectric coefficients are strongly dependent on the splitting of the interdot coupling, the relative magnetic configurations, and the spin polarization of leads. In particular, the thermoelectric efficiency can reach a considerable value in the parallel configuration when the effective interdot coupling and the tunnel coupling between the quantum dots and the leads for the spin-down electrons are small. Moreover, the thermoelectric efficiency increases with the intradot Coulomb interaction increasing and can reach very high values at appropriate temperatures. In the presence of the magnetic field, the spin accumulation in the leads strongly suppresses the thermoelectric efficiency, and a pure spin thermopower can be obtained. 相似文献

We implement a quantum walk in phase space with a new mechanism based on the superconducting resonator-assisted double quantum dots.By analyzing the hybrid system,we obtain the necessary factors implementing a quantum walk in phase space:the walker, coin, coin flipping and conditional phase shift. The coin flipping is implemented by adding a driving field to the resonator. The interaction between the quantum dots and resonator is used to implement conditional phase shift.Furthermore,we show that with different driving fields the quantum walk in phase space exhibits a ballistic behavior over 25 steps and numerically analyze the factors influencing the spreading of the walker in phase space. 相似文献

Electronic transport through parallel coupled double quantum dots (DQD) with Rashba spin-orbit (RSO) interaction is investigated in Kondo regime by means of the slave-boson mean field approximation at zero temperature. By the co-action of the phase factor deduced by RSO interaction and the magnetic flux penetrating the parallel DQD, an interesting spin-dependent Kondo effect emerges. The molecular state representation theory is used to obtain a detailed understanding of the spin-dependent Kondo effect. It is shown that Quantum interference between the bonding Kondo state and antibonding state, which is modulated by the RSO interaction, plays a crucial role to the density of states and the linear conductance. The magnitude of each spin component conductance can be modulated by the RSO interaction strength. The conductance of each spin component exhibits 4π-periodic function with respect to φR. Moreover, the swap operation in the parallel DQD system can be implemented by tuning the RSO interaction. 相似文献

We investigate two equivalent, capacitively coupled semiconducting quantum dots, each coupled to its own lead, in a regime where there are two electrons on the double dot. With increasing interdot coupling, a rich range of behavior is uncovered: first a crossover from spin- to charge-Kondo physics, via an intermediate SU(4) state with entangled spin and charge degrees of freedom, followed by a quantum phase transition of Kosterlitz-Thouless type to a non-Fermi-liquid "charge-ordered" phase with finite residual entropy and anomalous transport properties. Physical arguments and numerical renormalization group methods are employed to obtain a detailed understanding of the problem. 相似文献
