Time-resolved local induction measurements near the vortex lattice order-disorder transition in optimally doped Bi(2)Sr(2)CaCu(2)O(8+delta) crystals show that the high-field, disordered phase can be quenched to fields as low as half the transition field. Over an important range of fields, the electrodynamical behavior of the vortex system is governed by the coexistence of ordered and disordered vortex phases in the sample. We interpret the results as supercooling of the high-field phase and the possible first-order nature of the order-disorder transition at the "second magnetization peak."  相似文献

We study a depinning transition based on transient dynamics of vortices driven by a suddenly applied dc current, focusing on whether a difference in the equilibrium vortex phase that can lead to a different vortex flow will change the critical behavior. After preparing an ordered initial vortex configuration, we measure the time evolution of voltage associated with dynamic disordering in three magnetic fields, corresponding to the ordered phase (OP), disordered phase (DP), and coexistence phase. The critical behavior of the depinning transition is commonly observed in these phases, pointing to the universality of the transition. However, the critical behavior is most marked in the coexistence phase, while the suppression of the critical region and that of dynamic disordering are observed in OP and DP, respectively, whose origin is attributed to the different flow states among these phases.  相似文献

We review the use of superconductors as a playground for the experimental study of front roughening and avalanches. Using the magneto-optical technique, the spatial distribution of the vortex density in the sample is monitored as a function of time. The roughness and growth exponents corresponding to the vortex `landscape' are determined and compared to the exponents that characterize the avalanches in the framework of Self-Organized Criticality. For those situations where a thermo-magnetic instability arises, an analytical non-linear and non-local model is discussed, which is found to be consistent to great detail with the experimental results. On anisotropic substrates, the anisotropy regularizes the avalanches.  相似文献

The local effect of the Josephson vortices on the vortex lattice melting process in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O(8+δ) crystals in the presence of an in-plane field H(ab) is studied by differential magneto-optical imaging. The melting process is found to commence along the Josephson vortex stacks, forming a mesomorphic phase of periodic liquid and solid lamellas, the direction and spacing of which are controlled by H(ab). The reduction of the local melting field H(m) along the Josephson vortex stacks is more than an order of magnitude larger than the reduction of the average bulk H(m) by HH(ab).  相似文献

Vortex matter in Bi(2)Sr(2)CaCu(2)O(8) with a low concentration of tilted columnar defects (CDs) was studied using magneto-optical measurements and molecular dynamics simulations. It is found that while the dynamic properties are significantly affected by tilting the magnetic field away from the CDs, the thermodynamic transitions are angle independent. The simulations indicate that vortex pancakes remain localized on the CDs even at large tilting angles. This preserves the vortex thermodynamics, while vortex pinning is considerably weakened due to kink sliding.  相似文献

We use time-resolved x-ray diffraction and magneto-optical Kerr effect to study the laser-induced antiferromagnetic to ferromagnetic phase transition in FeRh. The structural response is given by the nucleation of independent ferromagnetic domains (τ(1)~30 ps). This is significantly faster than the magnetic response (τ(2)~60 ps) given by the subsequent domain realignment. X-ray diffraction shows that the two phases coexist on short time scales and that the phase transition is limited by the speed of sound. A nucleation model describing both the structural and magnetic dynamics is presented.  相似文献

We study the ground-state phases of two-dimensional rotating spin–orbit coupled spin-1/2 Bose–Einstein condensates (BECs) in a gradient magnetic field. The competition between gradient magnetic field, spin–orbit coupling and rotation leads to a variety of ground-state phase structures. In the weakly rotation regime, as the increase of gradient magnetic field strength, the BECs experiences a phase transition from the unstable phase to the single vortex-line phase. The unstable phase presents the vortex lines structures along the off-diagonal direction. With magnetic field gradient strength increasing, the number of vortex lines changes accordingly. As the magnetic field gradient strength increases further, the single vortex-line phase with a single vortex line along the diagonal direction is formed. The phase diagram shows that the boundary between the two phases is linear with the relative repulsion λ≥1 and is nonlinear with λ<1. In the relatively strong rotation regime, in addition to the unstable phase and the single vortex-line phase, the vortex-ring phase is formed for the strong magnetic field gradient and rapid rotation. The vortex-ring phase shows the giant and hidden vortex structures at the center of ring. The strong magnetic field gradient makes the number of the vortices around the ring unchanged.  相似文献

The phase diagram for the vortex states of high- T(c) superconductors with point defects in the B--> parallel to c axis is drawn by large-scale Monte Carlo simulations. The vortex slush (VS) phase is found between the vortex glass (VG) and vortex liquid (VL) phases. The first-order transition between this novel normal phase and the VL phase is characterized by a sharp jump of the density of dislocations. The first-order transition between the Bragg glass (BG) and VG or VS phases is also clarified. These two transitions are compared with the melting transition between the BG and VL phases.  相似文献

We have performed extensive small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) diffraction studies of the vortex lattice in single crystal YNi2B2C for B‖c. High-resolution SANS, combined with a field-oscillation vortex lattice preparation technique, allows us to separate Bragg scattered intensities from two orthogonal domains and accurately determine the unit cell angle, β. The data suggest that upon increasing field there is a finite transition width where both low- and high-field distorted hexagonal vortex lattice phases, mutually rotated by 45°, coexist. The smooth variation of diffracted intensity from each phase through the transition corresponds to a redistribution of populations between the two types of domains.  相似文献

We report the first detailed and quantitative study of the Josephson coupling energy in the vortex liquid, Bragg glass, and vortex glass phases of Bi(2)Sr(2)CaCu(2)O(8+delta) by the Josephson plasma resonance. The measurements revealed distinct features in the T and H dependencies of the plasma frequency omega(pl) for each of these three vortex phases. When going across either the Bragg-to-vortex glass or the Bragg-to-liquid transition line, omega(pl) shows a dramatic change. We provide a quantitative discussion on the properties of these phase transitions, including the first order nature of the Bragg-to-vortex glass transition.  相似文献

Magneto-optical measurements of transient vortex states in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+delta show enhanced effects of metastability in prism-shaped as compared to platelet crystals including a significant shift of the second magnetization peak and qualitatively different dynamics. In contrast to platelets, where dislocations are generated only at the sample edges, we propose that in prism samples the dislocations are generated dynamically in the entire sample due to distributed surface barriers. As a result, a dynamic phase transition from a Bragg glass to a metastable disordered phase may occur well below the thermodynamic transition field.  相似文献

We demonstrate trapping and quantum state control of single cesium atoms in a 532 nm wavelength bottle beam trap. The three-dimensional trap is formed by crossing two unit charge vortex beams. Single atoms are loaded with 50% probability directly from a magneto-optical trap. We achieve a trapping lifetime of up to 6 s and demonstrate fast Rabi oscillations with a coherence time of T(2)~43±9 ms.  相似文献

We present a model in which metastable supercooled phase and stable equilibrium phase of vortex matter coexist in different regions of a sample. Minor hysteresis loops are calculated with the simple assumption of the two phases of vortex matter having field-independent critical current densities. We use our earlier published ideas that the free energy barrier separating the metastable and stable phases reduces as the magnetic induction moves farther from the first order phase transition line, and that metastable to stable transformations occur in local regions of the sample when the local energy dissipation exceeds a critical value. Previously reported anomalous features in minor hysteresis loops are reproduced, and calculated field profiles are presented.  相似文献

Time-resolved magneto-optical imaging measurements show that an ac current enables the vortex matter in YBa2Cu3O7-x thin films to reorganize into two coexisting steady states of driven vortex motion with different characteristics: a quasi-static disordered glassy state in the sample interior and a dynamic state of plastic motion near the edges. Finite-element calculations consistent with the critical state model show good agreement with the measured field profiles in the quasi-static state but predict a larger hysteretic behavior in the dynamic state. 为玻色Hofstadter梯子模型引入交错跃迁,来扩展模型支持的量子流相.基于精确对角化和密度矩阵重整化群计算发现,无相互作用时,系统中包含横流相、涡旋相和纵流相;横流相来自均匀跃迁时Hofstadter梯子模型的Meissner相,纵流相是交错跃迁时才可见的流相.强相互作用极限下系统的超流区也包含横流相、纵流相和涡旋相,但存在更多的相变级数;超流区的横流相、纵流相之间存在相变但Mott区的不存在,把Mott区的"横、纵流相"称为Mott-均匀相,在Mott区只存在均匀相和涡旋相.跃迁的交错会压缩涡旋相存在的区域,使Mott区最终只剩下均匀相;跃迁的交错不仅能驱动Mott-超流相变,还使磁通的改变也能够驱动系统的Mott-超流相变.对这一系统的研究丰富了磁通系统中的量子流相,同时为研究拓扑流特性提供了模型支持.  相似文献

The ground state of the ring-shape magnetic nanoparticle is studied. Depending on the geometrical and magnetic parameters of the nanoring, there exist different magnetisation configurations (magnetic phases): two phases with homogeneous magnetisation (easy-axis and easy-plane phases) and two inhomogeneous (planar vortex phase and out-of-plane one). The existence of a new intermediate out-of-plane vortex phase, where the inner magnetisation is not strongly parallel to the easy axis, is predicted. Possible transitions between different phases are analysed using the combination of analytical calculations and micromagnetic simulations.  相似文献

The thermodynamic phase diagram of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 was mapped by measuring local equilibrium magnetization M(H,T) in the presence of vortex shaking. Two equally sharp first-order magnetization steps are revealed in a single temperature sweep, manifesting a liquid-solid-liquid sequence. In addition, a second-order glass transition line is revealed by a sharp break in the equilibrium M(T) slope. The first- and second-order lines intersect at intermediate temperatures, suggesting the existence of four phases: Bragg glass and vortex crystal at low fields, glass and liquid at higher fields.  相似文献

Using a differential magneto-optical technique to visualize the flow of transport currents, we reveal a new delocalization line within the reversible vortex liquid region in the presence of a low density of columnar defects. This line separates a homogeneous vortex liquid, in which all the vortices are delocalized, from a heterogeneous "nanoliquid" phase, in which interconnected nanodroplets of vortex liquid are caged in the pores of a solid skeleton formed by vortices pinned on columnar defects. The nanoliquid phase displays high correlation along the columnar defects but no transverse critical current.  相似文献
