The Maxwell equations with uniformly monotone nonlinear electric conductivity in a heterogeneous medium, which may be non-periodic, are homogenized by two-scale convergence. We introduce a new set of function spaces appropriate for the nonlinear Maxwell system. New compactness results, of two-scale type, are proved for these function spaces. We prove existence of a unique solution for the heterogeneous system as well as for the homogenized system. We also prove that the solutions of the heterogeneous system converge weakly to the solution of the homogenized system. Furthermore, we prove corrector results, important for numerical implementations.  相似文献

We study the Cauchy problem of a weakly dissipative 2-component Camassa–Holm system. We first establish local well-posedness for a weakly dissipative 2-component Camassa–Holm system. We then present a global existence result for strong solutions to the system. We finally obtain several blow-up results and the blow-up rate of strong solutions to the system.  相似文献

This paper addresses the strategic pricing decisions of a decentralized assemble-to-order system, and the effects of sourcing structure on system performance. We consider an assemble-to-order system consisting of two substitute products and three components manufactured by different suppliers. Demand for the products is price-sensitive. The selling prices for the products are jointly determined by firms in the system. We study the system under both centralized and decentralized decision-making situations. For the centralized system, we demonstrate that there exists a unique optimal pricing solution. For the decentralized system, we show that there exists a unique Nash equilibrium in the players’ pricing game. We further analyze the effects of different sourcing structures on the system performance and the assembler’s performance. We find that reduction of suppliers in the system does not guarantee improvement of system performance. Different sourcing structures have different impacts on performance. When the two dedicated components are sourced from a single supplier and the common component is sourced from another independent supplier, the system and the assembler’s performance become worse. We show that the decentralized system can be effectively coordinated and the system performance can be improved with a simple profit-sharing contract. Finally, we provide comprehensive numerical examples to demonstrate some important managerial insights.  相似文献

We consider the superfluidity properties of a two-dimensional system of polaritons in an optical cavity. Deriving an expression for the effective low-energy action for thermodynamic phase fluctuations, we simultaneously obtain the expression for an analogue of superfluid density in the system in terms of the current-current correlation function and also find the expression for the current operator. We describe the Bogoliubov approximation for a polariton system and calculate the superfluid density. We investigate the homogeneous initial boundary value problem for a coupled Camassa–Holm system with peakons on the half line. We first establish the local well-posedness for the system. We obtain sufficient conditions for the existence of a nonanticipating control for linear systems with stationary random parameters. We consider the case of a bounded control and an arbitrary number of system states. We estimate the probability that the system is nonanticipatingly locally controllable on a fixed time interval. We formulate the main assertions in terms of Lyapunov functions, choosing the latter in the class of piecewise continuously differentiable functions.  相似文献

We consider a system of hyperbolic integro-differential equations for SH waves in a visco-elastic porous medium. The inverse problem is to recover a kernel (memory) in the integral term of this system. We reduce this problem to solving a system of integral equations for the unknown functions. We apply the principle of contraction mappings to this system in the space of continuous functions with a weight norm. We prove the global unique solvability of the inverse problem and obtain a stability estimate of a solution of the inverse problem.  相似文献

We analyze general enough models of repeated indirect measurements in which a quantum system interacts repeatedly with randomly chosen probes on which von Neumann direct measurements are performed. We prove, under suitable hypotheses, that the system state probability distribution converges after a large number of repeated indirect measurements, in a way compatible with quantum wave function collapse. We extend this result to mixed states and we prove similar results for the system density matrix. We show that the convergence is exponential with a rate given by some relevant mean relative entropies. We also prove that, under appropriate rescaling of the system and probe interactions, the state probability distribution and the system density matrix are solutions of stochastic differential equations modeling continuous-time quantum measurements. We analyze the large time behavior of these continuous time processes and prove convergence.  相似文献

In this paper, we are interested in the solution of a viscous scalar conservation law. We remark that its first order spatial derivatives solve a system of partial differential equations presenting a nonlocal nonlinearity. We associate a nonlinear martingale problem with this system. After proving existence and uniqueness for the martingale problem, we obtain a propagation of chaos result for a system of interacting diffusion processes. We deduce that it is possible to approximate the solution of the viscous scalar conservation law thanks to the interacting diffusions  相似文献

In this paper we study the problem of personnel planning in care-at-home facilities. We model the system as a Markov decision process, which leads to a high-dimensional control problem. We study monotonicity properties of the system and derive structural results for the optimal policy. Based on these insights, we propose a trunk reservation heuristic to control the system. We provide numerical evidence that the heuristic yields close to optimal performance, and scales well for large problem instances.  相似文献

In this paper isochronicity of centers is discussed for a class of discontinuous differential system, simply called switching system. We give some sufficient conditions for the system to have a regular isochronous center at the origin and, on the other hand, construct a switching system with an irregular isochronous center at the origin. We give a computation method for periods of periodic orbits near the center and use the method to discuss a switching Bautin system for center conditions and isochronous center conditions. We further find all of those systems which have an irregular isochronous center.  相似文献

We consider the problem of the effective interaction potential in a quantum many-particle system leading to the fractional-power dispersion law. We show that passing to fractional-order derivatives is equivalent to introducing a pair interparticle potential. We consider the case of a degenerate electron gas. Using the van der Waals equation, we study the equation of state for systems with a fractional-power spectrum. We obtain a relation between the van der Waals constant and the phenomenological parameter ??, the fractional-derivative order. We obtain a relation between energy, pressure, and volume for such systems: the coefficient of the thermal energy is a simple function of ??. We consider Bose??Einstein condensation in a system with a fractional-power spectrum. The critical condensation temperature for 1 < ?? < 2 is greater in the case under consideration than in the case of an ideal system, where ?? = 2.  相似文献

We introduce a subsymmetry of a differential system as an infinitesimal transformation of a subset of the system that leaves the subset invariant on the solution set of the entire system. We discuss the geometric meaning and properties of subsymmetries and also an algorithm for finding subsymmetries of a system. We show that a subsymmetry is a significantly more powerful tool than a regular symmetry with regard to deformation of conservation laws. We demonstrate that all lower conservation laws of the nonlinear telegraph system can be generated by system subsymmetries.  相似文献

We describe a numerical method with guaranteed accuracy to enclose a periodic solution for a system of delay differential equations. Using a certain system of equations corresponding to the original system, we derive sufficient conditions for the existence of the solution, the satisfaction of which can be verified computationally. We consider the initial value problem to the fractional system of motions for compressible viscous fluids in this paper. We establish a local well-posedness theory for the system, as well as a global well-posedness theory for small initial data. We consider mathematical models of the operation of pipelines with automatic flow regulators installed on several sections. We present a system of equations and inequalities that describes the flow distribution in such pipelines. We prove that the stated system gives optimality conditions for two mutually dual convex programming problems. We study Gause-type predator-prey models when the interaction between predator and prey is not locally-Lipschitz continuous in the absence of one of them. We shall show that in this case there appears a polycycle, which affects the existence of limit cycles for the system. We study a discrete system in a neighborhood of a quasi-periodic trajectory. We obtain conditions for reducing a system in this neighborhood to a system with quasi-periodic coefficients.
