In this work, a modified Leslie–Gower predator–prey model is analyzed, considering an alternative food for the predator and a ratio‐dependent functional response to express the species interaction. The system is well defined in the entire first quadrant except at the origin ( 0 , 0 ) . Given the importance of the origin ( 0 , 0 ) as it represents the extinction of both populations, it is convenient to provide a continuous extension of the system to the origin. By changing variables and a time rescaling, we obtain a polynomial differential equations system, which is topologically equivalent to the original one, obtaining that the non‐hyperbolic equilibrium point ( 0 , 0 ) in the new system is a repellor for all parameter values. Therefore, our novel model presents a remarkable difference with other models using ratio‐dependent functional response. We establish conditions on the parameter values for the existence of up to two positive equilibrium points; when this happen, one of them is always a hyperbolic saddle point, and the other can be either an attractor or a repellor surrounded by at least one limit cycle. We also show the existence of a separatrix curve dividing the behavior of the trajectories in the phase plane. Moreover, we establish parameter sets for which a homoclinic curve exits, and we show the existence of saddle‐node bifurcation, Hopf bifurcation, Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation, and homoclinic bifurcation. An important feature in this model is that the prey population can go to extinction; meanwhile, population of predators can survive because of the consumption of alternative food in the absence of prey. In addition, the prey population can attain their carrying capacity level when predators go to extinction. We demonstrate that the solutions are non‐negatives and bounded (dissipativity and permanence of population in many other works). In this work, a bidimensional differential equation system obtained by modifying the well-known predator–prey Rosenzweig–MacArthur model is analyzed by considering prey growth influenced by the Allee effect.One of the main consequences of this modification is a separatrix curve that appears in the phase plane, dividing the behavior of the trajectories. The results show that the equilibrium in the origin is an attractor for any set of parameters. The unique positive equilibrium, when it exists, can be either an attractor or a repeller surrounded by a limit cycle, whose uniqueness is established by calculating the Lyapunov quantities. Therefore, both populations could either reach deterministic extinction or long-term deterministic coexistence.The existence of a heteroclinic curve is also proved. When this curve is broken by changing parameter values, then the origin turns out to be an attractor for all orbits in the phase plane. This implies that there are plausible conditions where both populations can go to extinction. We conclude that strong and weak Allee effects on prey population exert similar influences on the predator–prey model, thereby increasing the risk of ecological extinction.  相似文献

In this paper, the Allee effect is incorporated into a predator–prey model with Holling type II functional response. Compared with the predator–prey model without Allee effect, we find that the Allee effect of prey species increases the extinction risk of both predators and prey. When the handling time of predators is relatively short and the Allee effect of prey species becomes strong, both predators and prey may become extinct. Moreover, it is shown that the model with Allee effect undergoes the Hopf bifurcation and heteroclinic bifurcation. The Allee effect of prey species can lead to unstable periodical oscillation. It is also found that the positive equilibrium of the model could change from stable to unstable, and then to stable when the strength of Allee effect or the handling time of predators increases continuously from zero, that is, the model admits stability switches as a parameter changes. When the Allee effect of prey species becomes strong, longer handling time of predators may stabilize the coexistent steady state.  相似文献

In this paper, we show that under suitable simple assumptions the classical two populations system may exhibit unexpected behaviors. Considering a more elaborated social model, in which the individuals of one population gather together in herds, while the other one shows a more individualistic behavior, we model the fact that interactions among the two occur mainly through the perimeter of the herd. We account for all types of populations’ interactions, symbiosis, competition and the predator–prey interactions. There is a situation in which competitive exclusion does not hold: the socialized herd behavior prevents the competing individualistic population from becoming extinct. For the predator–prey case, sustained limit cycles are possible, the existence of Hopf bifurcations representing a distinctive feature of this model compared with other classical predator–prey models. The system’s behavior is fully captured by just one suitably introduced new threshold parameter, defined in terms of the original model parameters.  相似文献

This paper considers a Lotka–Volterra predator–prey model with predators receiving an environmental time-variation. For such a system, a unique interior equilibrium is shown to be globally asymptotically stable if the time-variation is bounded and weakly integrally positive. Our result tells that the equilibrium can be stabilized even by nonnegative functions that make the limiting system structurally unstable. Numerical simulations are also shown to illustrate the result and to suggest that cases with time-variation acting on predators have larger-scale convergence to the equilibrium than population dynamics with time-variation acting on prey.  相似文献

In this present article, we propose and analyze a cannibalistic predator–prey model with disease in the predator population. We consider two important factors for the dynamics of predator population. The first one is governed through cannibalistic interaction, and the second one is governed through the disease in the predator population via cannibalism. The local stability analysis of the model system around the biologically feasible equilibria are investigated. We perform global dynamics of the model using Lyapunov functions. We analyze and compare the community structure of the system in terms of ecological and disease basic reproduction numbers. The existence of Hopf bifurcation around the interior steady state is investigated. We also derive the sufficient conditions for the permanence and impermanence of the system. The study reveals that the cannibalism acts as a self-regulatory mechanism and controls the disease transmission among the predators by stabilizing the predator–prey oscillations.  相似文献

Stage-structured predator–prey models exhibit rich and interesting dynamics compared to homogeneous population models. The objective of this paper is to study the bifurcation behavior of stage-structured prey–predator models that admit stage-restricted predation. It is shown that the model with juvenile-only predation exhibits Hopf bifurcation with the growth rate of the adult prey as the bifurcation parameter; also, depending on parameter values, a stable limit cycle will emerge, that is, the bifurcation will be of supercritical nature. On the other hand, the analysis of the model with adult-stage predation shows that the system admits a fold-Hopf bifurcation with the adult growth rate and the predator mortality rate as the two bifurcation parameters. We also demonstrate the existence of a unique limit cycle arising from this codimension-2 bifurcation. These results reveal far richer dynamics compared to models without stage-structure. Numerical simulations are done to support analytical results.  相似文献

Establishing and researching a population dynamical model based on the differential equation is of great significance. In this paper, a predator–prey system with inducible defense and disease in the prey is built from biological evolution and Eco-epidemiology. The effect of disease on population stability in the predator–prey system with inducible defense is studied. Firstly, we verify the positivity and uniform boundedness of the solutions of the system. Then the existence and stability of the equilibria are studied. There are no more than nine equilibrium points in the system. We use a sophisticated parameter transformation to study the properties of the coexistence equilibrium points of the system. A sufficient condition is established for the existence of Hopf bifurcation. Numerical simulations are performed to make analytical studies more complete.  相似文献

In this paper, we have studied a prey–predator model living in a habitat that divided into two regions: an unreserved region and a reserved (refuge) region. The migration between these two regions is allowed. The interaction between unreserved prey and predator is Crowley–Martin‐type functional response. The local and global stability of the system is discussed. Further, the system is extended to incorporate the effect of time delay. Then the dynamical behavior of the system is analyzed, taking delay as a bifurcation parameter. The direction of Hopf bifurcation and the stability of the bifurcated periodic solution are determined with the help of normal form theory and centre manifold theorem. We have also discussed the influence of prey refuge on densities of prey and predator species. The analytical results are supplemented with numerical simulations. This article deals with a bioeconomic model of prey–predator system with Holling type III functional response. The dynamical behavior of the system is extensively discussed. Continuous type gestational delay of predators is incorporated in the system to study delay induced instability. It is observed that the system undergoes singularity induced bifurcation at interior equilibrium point when net economic revenue of the system increases through zero. State feedback controller is designed to stabilize the system at positive economic profit. Time delay is considered as a bifurcation parameter to prove the occurrence of Hopf bifurcation phenomenon in the neighborhood of the coexisting equilibrium point. Assuming that the prey refuge is proportional to the prey density if its population size is below a critical threshold, or constant if its size is above the threshold, this paper proposes, and qualitatively analyzes, a Leslie–Gower predator–prey model assuming alternative feeding and harvesting in predators, and a Holling II function as the predator functional response. From the results of the mathematical analysis to the predator–prey models with proportional or constant prey refuge, the proposed model retains the same bifurcation cases obtained for each model analyzed. However, appropriate alterations of the parameters representing the critical threshold of prey population size and harvest in predators allows the formation of at least one limit cycle, stable or unstable, that lives in both vector fields of the proposed model.  相似文献

This paper deals with a ratio-dependent predator–prey system with a crowding term in the prey equation, where it is assumed that the coefficient of the functional response is less than the coefficient of the intrinsic growth rates of the prey species. We demonstrate some special behaviors of solutions to the system which the coexistence states of two species can be obtained when the crowding region in the prey equation only is designed suitably. Furthermore, we demonstrate that under some conditions, the positive steady state solution of the predator–prey system with a crowding term in the prey equation is unique and stable. A model for the effects of a predator on a genetically distinguished prey population is formulated and investigated. The predator-free system settles at an equilibrium which can be destabilized by the predators if a suitably defined parameter, the predator invasion number, exceeds a threshold. In a natural ecosystem, specialist predators feed almost exclusively on one species of prey. But generalist predators feed on many types of species. Consequently, their dynamics is not coupled to the dynamics of a specific prey population. However, the defense of prey formed by congregating made the predator tend to move in the direction of lower concentration of prey species. This is described by cross-diffusion in a generalist predator–prey model. First, the positive equilibrium solution is globally asymptotically stable for the ODE system and for the reaction–diffusion system without cross-diffusion, respectively, hence it does not belong to the classical Turing instability scheme. But it becomes linearly unstable only when cross-diffusion also plays a role. This implies that cross–diffusion can lead to the occurrence and disappearance of the instability. Our results exhibit some interesting combining effects of cross-diffusion, predations and intra-species interactions. Furthermore, we consider the existence and non-existence results concerning non-constant positive steady states (patterns) of the system. We demonstrate that cross-diffusion can create non-constant positive steady-state solutions.  相似文献

A theoretical eco‐epidemiological model of a prey–predator interaction system with disease in prey species is studied. Predator consumes both susceptible and infected prey population, but predator also feeds preferentially on many numerous species, which are over represented in the predator's diet. Equilibrium points of the system are determined, and the dynamic behaviour of the system is investigated around equilibrium points. Death rate of predator species is considered as a bifurcation parameter to examine the occurrence of Hopf bifurcation in the neighbourhood of the coexisting equilibria. In this paper, we investigate the impact of strong Allee effect on the stability of a discrete-time predator–prey model with a non-monotonic functional response. The dynamics of discrete-time predator–prey models with strong Allee effect is studied earlier. But, the mathematical investigations of predator–prey dynamics in discrete-time set up with Holling type-IV functional response and strong Allee effect in prey are lacking. The proposed model supports the coexistence of two steady states, and the mathematical features of the model are analyzed based on local stability and bifurcation theory. By considering the Allee parameter as the bifurcation parameter, we provide sufficient conditions for the flip and the Neimark–Sacker bifurcations. We observe that Allee parameter plays a significant role in the dynamics of the system.  相似文献

In this paper, a predator–prey Leslie–Gower model with disease in prey has been developed. The total population has been divided into three classes, namely susceptible prey, infected prey and predator population. We have also incorporated an infected prey refuge in the model. We have studied the positivity and boundedness of the solutions of the system and analyzed the existence of various equilibrium points and stability of the system at those equilibrium points. We have also discussed the influence of the infected prey refuge on each population density. It is observed that a Hopf bifurcation may occur about the interior equilibrium taking refuge parameter as bifurcation parameter. Our analytical findings are illustrated through computer simulation using MATLAB, which show the reliability of our model from the eco-epidemiological point of view.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to study the formation of spatial patterns in a predator–prey system with Tetranychus urticae as prey and Phytoseiulus persimilis as predator. Logistic Lotka–Volterra predator–prey equations are solved numerically with two different response functions, two initial conditions and one data set. The spatial patterns are generated by introducing diffusion-driven instability in the predator–prey system. Among all parameters involved in predator–prey equations, only the predator interference parameter is varied to generate diffusion-driven instability leading to spatial patterns of population density. Spatial patterns are further generated with the inclusion of prey-taxis in the predator–prey system. Routh–Hurwitz’s conditions for stability are used to create instability with prey-taxis in the system. It is shown that it is possible to generate spatial patterns with zero flux boundary conditions even in a smaller domain with a suitable value of the predator interference parameter or prey-taxis.  相似文献

The control and management of chaotic population is one of the main objectives for constructing mathematical model in ecology today. In this paper, we apply a technique of controlling chaotic predator–prey population dynamics by supplying additional food to top-predator. We formulate a three species predator–prey model supplying additional food to top-predator. Existence conditions and local stability criteria of equilibrium points are determined analytically. Persistence conditions for the system are derived. Global stability conditions of interior equilibrium point is calculated. Theoretical results are verified through numerical simulations. Phase diagram is presented for various quality and quantity of additional food. One parameter bifurcation analysis is done with respect to quality and quantity of additional food separately keeping one of them fixed. Using MATCONT package, we derive the bifurcation scenarios when both the parameters quality and quantity of additional food vary together. We predict the existence of Hopf point (H), limit point (LP) and branch point (BP) in the model for suitable supply of additional food. We have computed the regions of different dynamical behaviour in the quantity–quality parametric plane. From our study we conclude that chaotic population dynamics of predator prey system can be controlled to obtain regular population dynamics only by supplying additional food to top predator. This study is aimed to introduce a new non-chemical chaos control mechanism in a predator–prey system with the applications in fishery management and biological conservation of prey predator species.  相似文献

This work provides a mathematical model for a predator‐prey system with general functional response and recruitment, which also includes capture on both species, and analyzes its qualitative dynamics. The model is formulated considering a population growth based on a general form of recruitment and predator functional response, as well as the capture on both prey and predators at a rate proportional to their populations. In this sense, it is proved that the dynamics and bifurcations are determined by a two‐dimensional threshold parameter. Finally, numerical simulations are performed using some ecological observations on two real species, which validate the theoretical results obtained.
