Although TiO2 is an efficient photocatalyst, its large band gap limits its photocatalytic activity only to the ultraviolet region. An experimentally synthesized ternary Fe/C/S‐doped TiO2 anatase showed improved visible light photocatalytic activity. However, a theoretical study of the underlying mechanism of the enhanced photocatalytic activity and the interaction of ternary Fe/C/S‐doped TiO2 has not yet been investigated. In this study, the defect formation energy, electronic structure and optical property of TiO2 doped with Fe, C, and S are investigated in detail using the density functional theory + U method. The calculated band gap (3.21 eV) of TiO2 anatase agree well with the experimental band gap (3.20 eV). The defect formation energy shows that the co‐ and ternary‐doped systems are thermodynamically favorable under oxygen‐rich condition. Compared to the undoped TiO2, the absorption edge of the mono‐, co‐, and ternary‐doped TiO2 is significantly enhanced in the visible light region. We have shown that ternary doping with C, S, and Fe induces a clean band structure without any impurity states. Moreover, the ternary Fe/C/S‐doped TiO2 exhibit an enhanced photocatalytic activity, a smaller band gap and negative formation energy compared to the mono‐ and co‐doped systems. Moreover, the band edges of Fe/C/S‐doped TiO2 align well with the redox potentials of water, which shows that the ternary Fe/C/S‐doped TiO2 is promising photocatalysts to split water into hydrogen and oxygen. These findings rationalize the available experimental results and can assist the design of TiO2‐based photocatalyst materials.  相似文献

A series of tungsten‐doped Titania photocatalysts were synthesized using a low‐temperature method. The effects of dopant concentration and annealing temperature on the phase transitions, crystallinity, electronic, optical, and photocatalytic properties of the resulting material were studied. The X‐ray patterns revealed that the doping delays the transition of anatase to rutile to a high temperature. A new phase WyTi1‐yO2 appeared for 5.00 wt% W‐TiO2 annealed at 900 °C. Raman and diffuse reflectance UV–Vis spectroscopy showed that band gap values decreased slightly up to 700 °C. X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy showed that surface species viz. Ti3+, Ti4+, O2?, oxygen‐vacancies, and adsorbed OH groups vary depending on the preparation conditions. The photocatalytic activity was evaluated via the degradation of methylene blue using LED white light. The degradation rate was affected by the percentage of dopants. The best photocatalytic activity was achieved with the sample labeled 5.00 wt% W‐TiO2 annealed at 700 °C.  相似文献

The chemical state of a transition‐metal dopant in TiO2 can intrinsically determine the performance of the doped material in applications such as photocatalysis and photovoltaics. In this study, manganese‐doped TiO2 is fabricated by a near‐equilibrium process, in which the TiO2 precursor powder precipitates from a hydrothermally obtained transparent mother solution. The doping level and subsequent thermal treatment influence the morphology and crystallization of the TiO2 samples. FTIR spectroscopy and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy analyses indicate that the manganese dopant is substitutionally incorporated by replacing Ti4+ cations. The absorption band edge can be gradually shifted to 1.8 eV by increasing the nominal manganese content to 10 at %. Manganese atoms doped into the titanium lattice are associated with the dominant 4+ valence oxidation state, which introduces two curved, intermediate bands within the band gap and results in a significant enhancement in photoabsorption and the quantity of photogenerated hydroxyl radicals. Additionally, the high photocatalytic performance of manganese‐doped TiO2 is also attributed to the low oxygen content, owing to the equilibrium fabrication conditions. This work provides an important strategy to control the chemical and defect states of dopants by using an equilibrium fabrication process.  相似文献

Low‐dose nitrogen implantation induces an ion and damage profile in TiO2 nanotubes that leads to “co‐catalytic” activity for photocatalytic H2‐evolution (without the use of any noble metal). Ion implantation with adequate parameters creates this active zone limited to the top part of the tubes. The coupling of this top layer and the underlying non‐implanted part of the nanotubes additionally contributes to an efficient carrier separation and thus to a significantly enhanced H2 generation.  相似文献

Anatase TiO2 nanosheets with exposed {001} facets have been controllably modified under non‐thermal dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma with various working gas, including Ar, H2, and NH3. The obtained TiO2 nanosheets possess a unique crystalline core/amorphous shell structure (TiO2@TiO2?x), which exhibit the improved visible and near‐infrared light absorption. The types of dopants (oxygen vacancy/surface Ti3+/substituted N) in oxygen‐deficient TiO2 can be tuned by controlling the working gases during plasma discharge. Both surface Ti3+ and substituted N were doped into the lattice of TiO2 through NH3 plasma discharge, whereas the oxygen vacancy or Ti3+ (along with the oxygen vacancy) was obtained after Ar or H2 plasma treatment. The TiO2@TiO2?x from NH3 plasma with a green color shows the highest photocatalytic activity under visible‐light irradiation compared with the products from Ar plasma or H2 plasma due to the synergistic effect of reduction and simultaneous nitridation in the NH3 plasma.  相似文献

Tungsten and nitrogen co‐doped TiO2 nanobelts (W/N‐TNBs) have been successfully synthesized via 1‐step hydrothermal method. The structure, morphology, and composition of prepared samples were characterized by X‐ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, respectively. The prominent phase of all as‐prepared samples is anatase crystal. For samples with N doping, new energy states can be introduced on top of O 2p states which reduced the band gap by 1.1 eV. The reduced band gap leads to efficient visible light activity. The 3%‐W/N‐TNBs were found to exhibit the highest activity. The photocatalytic performance of 3%‐W/N‐TNBs under visible light is about 4.8 times than that of pure TiO2 nanobelts, which emphasizes the synergistic effect of W and N co‐doping for effectively inhibiting the recombination of photogenerated electrons and holes. In addition, our results testify the different redox potentials of the photoelectrons at different final states.  相似文献

Hollow hybrid nanostructures have received significant attention because of their unique structural features. This study reports a facile ion adsorption–heating method to fabricate hollow PbS‐TiO2 hybrid particles. In this method, the TiO2 spheres used as a substrate material to grow PbS are aggregates of many small amorphous TiO2 particles, and each small particle is covered with thioglycolic acid ligands through Ti4+–carboxyl coordination. When Pb2+ ions are added to a colloidal solution of these TiO2 spheres, these ions are adsorbed by sulfhydryl (‐SH) groups to form metal thiolates, and the C−S bond is dissociated by heating to release S2−. The S2− ions react with Pb2+ ions to form PbS without additive sulfur sources. Additionally, the amorphous TiO2 spheres are transformed into the anatase phase during the heating process. As a result, the crystallization of TiO2 spheres along with the formation of PbS is simultaneously carried out by heating. During the heating process, owing to the Kirkendall effect of S2− diffusion and the Ostwald ripening effect of the crystallization of amorphous TiO2 spheres, PbS‐TiO2 hollow hybrid structures can be obtained. The XRD and XPS characterizations proved the formation of anatase TiO2 and PbS. The TEM characterization confirmed the formation of hollow structures in the PbS‐TiO2 hybrid sample. The photocatalytic activity of the hollow PbS‐TiO2 hybrid spheres have been investigated for the degradation of Cr6+ under visible light. The results show that hollow PbS‐TiO2 hybrid spheres exhibited the highest photocatalytic activity, in which almost all the Cr6+ was degraded after 140 min.  相似文献

The synthesis of Zn‐doped TiO2 nanoparticles by solgel method was investigated in this study, as well as its modification by H2O2. The catalyst was characterized by transmission electron microscopy, X‐ray diffraction, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller, UV–visible reflectance spectra and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The results indicated that doping Zn into TiO2 nanoparticles could inhibit the transformation from anatase phase to rutile phase. Zn existed as the second valence oxidation state in the Zn‐doped TiO2. Zn‐doped TiO2 that was synthesized by 5% Zn doping at 450°C exhibited the best photocatalytic activity. Then, the H2O2 modification further enhanced the photocatalytic activity. Zn doping and H2O2 modifying narrowed the band gap and efficiently increased the optical absorption in visible region. The optimal degradation rate of tetracycline by Zn‐doped TiO2 and H2O2 modified Zn‐doped TiO2 was 85.27% and 88.14%. Peroxide groups were detected in XPS analysis of H2O2 modified Zn‐doped TiO2, favoring the adsorption of visible light. Furthermore, Zn‐doped TiO2 modified by H2O2 had relatively good reusability, exhibiting a potential practical application for tetracycline's photocatalytic degradation.  相似文献

A series of upconversion luminescent erbium‐doped SrTiO3 (ABO3‐type) photocatalysts with different initial molar ratios of Sr/Ti have been prepared by a facile polymerized complex method. Er3+ ions, which were gradually transferred from the A to the B site with increasing Sr/Ti, enabled the absorption of visible light and the generation of high‐energy excited states populated by upconversion processes. The local internal fields arising from the dipole moments of the distorted BO6 octahedra promoted energy transfer from the high‐energy excited states of Er3+ with B‐site occupancy to the host SrTiO3 and thus enhanced the band‐to‐band transition of the host SrTiO3. Consequently, the erbium‐doped SrTiO3 species with B‐site occupancy showed higher photocatalytic activity than those with A‐site occupancy for visible‐light‐driven H2 or O2 evolution in the presence of the corresponding sacrificial reagents. The results generally suggest that the introduction of upconversion luminescent agents into host semiconductors is a promising approach to simultaneously harnessing low‐energy photons and maintaining redox ability for photocatalytic H2 and O2 evolution and that the site occupancy of doped elements in ABO3‐type perovskite oxides greatly determines the photocatalytic activity.  相似文献

Ag/mesoporous black TiO2 nanotubes heterojunctions (Ag‐MBTHs) were fabricated through a surface hydrogenation, wet‐impregnation and photoreduction strategy. The as‐prepared Ag‐MBTHs possess a relatively high specific surface area of ≈85 m2 g?1 and an average pore size of ≈13.2 nm. The Ag‐MBTHs with a narrow band gap of ≈2.63 eV extend the photoresponse from UV to the visible‐light and near‐infrared (NIR) region. They exhibit excellent visible‐NIR‐driven photothermal catalytic and photocatalytic performance for complete conversion of nitro aromatic compounds (100 %) and mineralization of highly toxic phenol (100 %). The enhancement can be attributed to the mesoporous hollow structures increasing the light multi‐refraction, the Ti3+ in frameworks and the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) effect of plasmonic Ag nanoparticles favoring light‐harvesting and spatial separation of photogenerated electron–hole pairs, which is confirmed by transient fluorescence. The fabrication of this SPR‐enhanced visible‐NIR‐driven Ag‐MBTHs catalyst may provide new insights for designing other high‐performance heterojunctions as photocatalytic and photothermal catalytic nanomaterials.  相似文献

The electronic structure and photoactivation process in N‐doped TiO2 is investigated. Diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), photoluminescence (PL), and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) are employed to monitor the change of optical absorption ability and the formation of N species and defects in the heat‐ and photoinduced N‐doped TiO2 catalyst. Under thermal treatment below 573 K in vacuum, no nitrogen dopant is removed from the doped samples but oxygen vacancies and Ti3+ states are formed to enhance the optical absorption in the visible‐light region, especially at wavelengths above 500 nm with increasing temperature. In the photoactivation processes of N‐doped TiO2, the DRS absorption and PL emission in the visible spectral region of 450–700 nm increase with prolonged irradiation time. The EPR results reveal that paramagnetic nitrogen species (Ns.), oxygen vacancies with one electron (Vo.), and Ti3+ ions are produced with light irradiation and the intensity of Ns. species is dependent on the excitation light wavelength and power. The combined characterization results confirm that the energy level of doped N species is localized above the valence band of TiO2 corresponding to the main absorption band at 410 nm of N‐doped TiO2, but oxygen vacancies and Ti3+ states as defects contribute to the visible‐light absorption above 500 nm in the overall absorption of the doped samples. Thus, a detailed picture of the electronic structure of N‐doped TiO2 is proposed and discussed. On the other hand, the transfer of charge carriers between nitrogen species and defects is reversible on the catalyst surface. The presence of oxygen‐vacancy‐related defects leads to quenching of paramagnetic Ns. species but they stabilize the active nitrogen species Ns?.  相似文献

Herein, a peapod‐like TiO2/carbon nanocomposite has successfully been synthesized by a rational method for the first time. The novel nanostructure exhibits a distinct feature of TiO2 nanoparticles encapsulated inside and the carbon fiber coating outside. In the synthetic process, H2Ti3O7 nanotubes serve as precursors and templates, and glucose molecules act as the green carbon source. With the alliciency of hydrogen bonding between H2Ti3O7 and glucose, a thin polymer layer is hydrothermally assembled and subsequently converted into carbon fibers through calcinations under an inert atmosphere. Meanwhile, the precursors of H2Ti3O7 nanotubes are transformed into the TiO2 nanoparticles encapsulated in carbon fibers. The achieved unique nanocomposites can be used as excellent anode materials in lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) and photocatalytic reagents in the degradation of rhodamine B. Due to the synergistic effect derived from TiO2 nanoparticles and carbon fibers, the obtained peapod‐like TiO2/carbon cannot only deliver a high specific capacity of 160 mAh g?1 over 500 cycles in LIBs, but also perform a much faster photodegradation rate than bare TiO2 and P25. Furthermore, owing to the low cost, environmental friendliness as well as abundant source, this novel TiO2/carbon nanocomposite will have a great potential to be extended to other application fields, such as specific catalysis, gas sensing, and photovoltaics.  相似文献

Bi‐doped TiO2 nanotubes with variable Bi/Ti ratios were synthesized by hydrothermal treatment in 10 mol·L?1 NaOH (aq.) through using Bi‐doped TiO2 particles derived from conventional sol‐gel method as starting materials. The effects of Bi content on the morphology, textural properties, photo absorption and photocatalytic activity of TiO2 nanotubes were investigated. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X‐ray diffraction (XRD) and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) observations of the obtained samples revealed the formation of titanate nanotube structure doped with Bi, which exists as a higher oxidation state than Bi3+. Bi‐doping TiO2 nanotubes exhibited an extension of light absorption into the visible region and improved photocatalytic activities for hydrogen production from a glycerol/water mixed solution as compared with pure TiO2 nanotubes. There was an optimal Bi‐doped content for the photocatalytic hydrogen production, and high content of Bi would retard the phase transition of titanate to anatase and result in morphology change from nanotube to nanobelt, which in turn decreases the photocatlytic activity for hydrogen evolution.  相似文献

The energetic and electronic properties of N/V‐doped and N‐V‐codoped anatase TiO2 (101) surfaces are investigated by first‐principles calculations, with the aim to elucidate the relationship between the electronic structure and the photocatalytic performance of N‐V‐codoped TiO2. Several substitutional and interstitial configurations for the N and/or V impurities in the bulk phase and on the surface are studied, and the relative stability of different doping configurations is compared by the impurity formation energy. Systematic calculations reveal that N and V impurities can be encapsulated by TiO2 to form stable structures as a result of strong N‐V interactions both in the bulk and the surface model. Through analyzing and comparing the electronic structures of different doping systems, the synergistic doping effects are discussed in detail. Based on these discussions, we suggest that NOVTi codoping cannot only narrow the band gap of anatase TiO2, but also forms impurity states, which are propitious for the separation of photoexcited electron–hole pairs. In the case of NOVTi‐codoped TiO2 (101) surfaces, this phenomenon is especially prominent. Finally, a feasible synthesis route for NOVTi codoping into anatase TiO2 is proposed.  相似文献

Highly ordered mesoporous niobium‐doped TiO2 with a single‐crystalline framework was prepared by using silica colloidal crystals with ca. 30 nm in diameter as templates. The preparation of colloidal crystals composed of uniform silica nanoparticles is a key to obtain highly ordered mesoporous Nb‐doped TiO2. The XPS measurements of Nb‐doped TiO2 showed the presence of Nb5+ and correspondingly Ti3+. With the increase in the amount of doped Nb, the crystalline phase of the product was converted from rutile into anatase, and the lattice spacings of both rutile and anatase phases increased. Surprisingly, the increase in the amount of Nb led to the formation of plate‐like TiO2 with dimpled surfaces on one side, which was directly replicated from the surfaces of the colloidal silica crystals.  相似文献

The mesoporous titanium dioxide (MTiO2) photocatalysts co‐doped with Fe and H3PW12O40 were synthesized by template method using tetrabutyl titanate (Ti(OC4H9)4), Fe(NO3)k39H2Oand H3PW12O40 as precursors and Pluronic P123 as template. The as‐prepared photocatalyst was characterized by N2 adsorption‐desorption measurements, X‐ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and UV‐vis adsorption spectroscopy, and the photocatalytic activities of the prepared samples under UV and visible light were estimated by measuring the degradation rate of methyl blue (MB) (50 mg/L) in an aqueous solution. The characterizations indicated that the photocatalysts possessed a homogeneous pore diameter of ca. 10 nm with high surface area of ca. 150 m2/g. The results of MB photodecomposition showed that co‐doped mesoporous TiO2 exhibited higher photocatalytic activities than un‐doped, single‐doped mesoporous TiO2 under UV and visible light irradiation. It was shown that the co‐doped MTiO2 could be activated by visible light and could thus be used as an effective catalyst in photo‐oxidation reactions. The synergistic effect of Fe and H3PW12O40 co‐doping played an important role in improving the photocatalytic activity.  相似文献

Cerium ions (Ce3+) can be selectively doped into the TiO2(B) core of TiO2(B)/anatase core–shell nanofibers by means of a simple one‐pot hydrothermal treatment of a starting material of hydrogen trititanate (H2Ti3O7) nanofibers. These Ce3+ ions (≈0.202 nm) are located on the (110) lattice planes of the TiO2(B) core in tunnels (width≈0.297 nm). The introduction of Ce3+ ions reduces the defects of the TiO2(B) core by inhibiting the faster growth of (110) lattice planes. More importantly, the redox potential of the Ce3+/Ce4+ couple (E°(Ce3+/Ce4+)=1.715 V versus the normal hydrogen electrode) is more negative than the valence band of TiO2(B). Therefore, once the Ce3+‐doped nanofibers are irradiated by UV light, the doped Ce3+ ions—in close vicinity to the interface between the TiO2(B) core and anatase nanoshell—can efficiently trap the photogenerated holes. This facilitates the migration of holes from the anatase shell and leaves more photogenerated electrons in the anatase nanoshell, which results in a highly efficient separation of photogenerated charges in the anatase nanoshell. Hence, this enhanced charge‐separation mechanism accelerates dye degradation and alcohol oxidation processes. The one‐pot treatment doping strategy is also used to selectively dope other metal ions with variable oxidation states such as Co2+/3+ and Cu+/2+ ions. The doping substantially improves the photocatalytic activity of the mixed‐phase nanofibers. In contrast, the doping of ions with an invariable oxidation state, such as Zn2+, Ca2+, or Mg2+, does not enhance the photoactivity of the mixed‐phase nanofibers as the ions could not trap the photogenerated holes.  相似文献

A new synthetic method to fabricate Ti3+‐modified, highly stable TiO2 photoanodes for H2O oxidation is reported. With Ti foil as both the conducting substrate and the Ti3+/Ti4+ source, one‐dimensional blue Ti3+/TiO2 crystals were grown by a one‐step hydrothermal reaction. The concentration of Ti3+ was further tuned by N2H4 reduction, leading to a greater photoelectrocatalytic activity, as evidenced by a high photocurrent density of 0.64 mA cm?2 at 1.0 V vs RHE under simulated AM 1.5 G illumination. Electron paramagnetic resonance and Mott–Schottky plots reveal that higher charge‐carrier density owing to N2H4 reduction contributes to the observed improvement. The generality of this synthesis method was demonstrated by its effectiveness in improving the performance of other types of photoanodes. By integrating the advantages of the 1D TiO2 architecture with those of Ti3+ self‐doping, this work provides a versatile tool toward the fabrication of efficient TiO2 photoanodes.  相似文献

Recently, graphitic carbon nitride (CN) has been widely investigated for solar energy conversion through water splitting, but its low photocatalytic activity needs to be further improved and optimized. Herein, S/K co‐doped CN photocatalysts have been fabricated by condensation of thiourea and dithiooxamide followed by post‐treatment in molten salt. As evidenced by XRD patterns and UV–vis DRS plots, the engineering crystalline and electronic structure of all as‐prepared samples have been explored through tailoring the mass ratio of thiourea and dithiooxamide as well as ratio of molten salt/the precursor. After optimization, the as‐prepared S/K co‐doped CN photocatalysts with needle‐like nanorods structure exhibit excellent hydrogen evolution rate of 1962.10 μmol?1 g?1 h?1. While its photocatalytic activity is lower than that of pure CN by molten salt treatment (K‐doped CN) (2066.40 μmol?1 g?1 h?1), which results from that the K content of S/K co‐doped CN photocatalyst is lower than that of K‐doped CN. Moreover, compared with K‐doped CN, S/K co‐doped CN photocatalyst possesses higher photocatalytic performance when irradiated by a light source (λ > 520 nm). This might be ascribed to the fact that the introduction of sulfur can expand light absorption region (λ > 520 nm), whereas K cannot improve light absorption of CN in this wavelength region. Furthermore, DFT calculation reveals that both S and K atoms can offer more electrons to band gap, leading to the formation of metallic‐character band structure. In addition, K atom can intercalate in the interlayer of CN and bridge the adjacent two layers, leading to the formation of charge delivery channels. These results demonstrate that S/K co‐doped CN photocatalysts facilitate the separation and transport of photogenerated charge carries, resulting in the efficient photocatalytic activity for hydrogen evolution. Besides, a competition between sulfur and potassium atom during the synthesis process is also discussed in details.  相似文献
