The reaction of precursors containing both nitrogen and oxygen atoms with NiII under 500 °C can generate a N/O mixing coordinated Ni‐N3O single‐atom catalyst (SAC) in which the oxygen atom can be gradually removed under high temperature due to the weaker Ni?O interaction, resulting in a vacancy‐defect Ni‐N3‐V SAC at Ni site under 800 °C. For the reaction of NiII with the precursor simply containing nitrogen atoms, only a no‐vacancy‐defect Ni‐N4 SAC was obtained. Experimental and DFT calculations reveal that the presence of a vacancy‐defect in Ni‐N3‐V SAC can dramatically boost the electrocatalytic activity for CO2 reduction, with extremely high CO2 reduction current density of 65 mA cm?2 and high Faradaic efficiency over 90 % at ?0.9 V vs. RHE, as well as a record high turnover frequency of 1.35×105 h?1, much higher than those of Ni‐N4 SAC, and being one of the best reported electrocatalysts for CO2‐to‐CO conversion to date.  相似文献

Highly active and low-cost catalytic electrodes for urea oxidation reaction(UOR) are always crucial for exploration of urea fuel cells.Herein, novel york-shell-structural Ni_2P/C na nosphere hybrids(Ni_2P/C-YS)are rationally constructed via a hydrothermal method and subsequent phosphidation treatment under different temperature ranging from 250℃ to 450℃ for UOR applications. In the in-situ constructed hollow york-shell structure, the coupling of conductive carbon materials and active Ni_2P allows numerous interfaces facilitating the electron transfer and thereby accelerating the catalytic kinetics. The results demonstrate that Ni_2P/C-YS-350 nanocomposite can boost the UOR process with a low potential of 1.366 V vs.RHE at a current density of 50 mA/cm~2 in alkaline electrolyte and afford the superior durability with negligible potential decay after 23 h.This study presents that the carbon coated Ni_2P hybrid with the optimized crystallinities and hollow york-shell configurations can be a promising candidate for application in urea fuel cells.  相似文献

A biomimetic catalyst was prepared through the self‐assembly of a bolaamphiphilic molecule with histidine moieties for the sequestration of carbon dioxide. The histidyl bolaamphiphilic molecule bis(N‐α‐amidohistidine)‐1,7‐heptane dicarboxylate has been synthesized and self‐assembled to produce analogues of the active sites of carbonic anhydrase (CA) after association with Zn2+ ions. Spectroscopic analysis demonstrated the coordination of the Zn2+ ions with histidine imidazole moieties, which is the core conformation of CA active sites. The Zn‐associated self‐assembly worked as a CA‐mimetic catalyst that shows catalytic activity for CO2 hydration. Evaluation of the kinetics of using para‐nitrophenylacetate revealed that the kinetic parameters of the CA‐mimetic catalyst were maximized at the optimal Zn concentration and that excess Zn ions resulted in deteriorated catalytic activity. The performance of the CA‐mimetic catalyst was enhanced by changing the pH value and temperature of the reaction, which implies that the hydrolysis of the substrate is the rate‐determining step. The catalyst‐assisted sequestration of CO2 was demonstrated by CaCO3 precipitation upon the addition of Ca2+ ions. This study offers an easy way to prepare enzyme analogues for CO2 sequestration through the self‐assembly of bolaamphiphile molecules with designer biochemical moieties.  相似文献

The reaction mechanism of CO oxidation on the Co3O4 (110) and Co3O4 (111) surfaces is investigated by means of spin‐polarized density functional theory (DFT) within the GGA+U framework. Adsorption situation and complete reaction cycles for CO oxidation are clarified. The results indicate that 1) the U value can affect the calculated energetic result significantly, not only the absolute adsorption energy but also the trend in adsorption energy; 2) CO can directly react with surface lattice oxygen atoms (O2f/O3f) to form CO2 via the Mars–van Krevelen reaction mechanism on both (110)‐B and (111)‐B; 3) pre‐adsorbed molecular O2 can enhance CO oxidation through the channel in which it directly reacts with molecular CO to form CO2 [O2(a)+CO(g)→CO2(g)+O(a)] on (110)‐A/(111)‐A; 4) CO oxidation is a structure‐sensitive reaction, and the activation energy of CO oxidation follows the order of Co3O4 (111)‐A(0.78 eV)>Co3O4 (111)‐B (0.68 eV)>Co3O4 (110)‐A (0.51 eV)>Co3O4 (110)‐B (0.41 eV), that is, the (110) surface shows higher reactivity for CO oxidation than the (111) surface; 5) in addition to the O2f, it was also found that Co3+ is more active than Co2+, so both O2f and Co3+ control the catalytic activity of CO oxidation on Co3O4, as opposed to a previous DFT study which concluded that either Co3+ or O2f is the active site.  相似文献

Designing effective electrocatalysts for the carbon dioxide reduction reaction (CO2RR) is an appealing approach to tackling the challenges posed by rising CO2 levels and realizing a closed carbon cycle. However, fundamental understanding of the complicated CO2RR mechanism in CO2 electrocatalysis is still lacking because model systems are limited. We have designed a model nickel single‐atom catalyst (Ni SAC) with a uniform structure and well‐defined Ni‐N4 moiety on a conductive carbon support with which to explore the electrochemical CO2RR. Operando X‐ray absorption near‐edge structure spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and near‐ambient X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, revealed that Ni+ in the Ni SAC was highly active for CO2 activation, and functioned as an authentic catalytically active site for the CO2RR. Furthermore, through combination with a kinetics study, the rate‐determining step of the CO2RR was determined to be *CO2?+H+→*COOH. This study tackles the four challenges faced by the CO2RR; namely, activity, selectivity, stability, and dynamics.  相似文献

Redox‐inactive metal ions play important roles in tuning chemical properties of metal–oxygen intermediates. Herein we report the effect of water molecules on the redox properties of a nonheme iron(III)–peroxo complex binding redox‐inactive metal ions. The coordination of two water molecules to a Zn2+ ion in (TMC)FeIII‐(O2)‐Zn(CF3SO3)2 ( 1 ‐Zn2+) decreases the Lewis acidity of the Zn2+ ion, resulting in the decrease of the one‐electron oxidation and reduction potentials of 1 ‐Zn2+. This further changes the reactivities of 1 ‐Zn2+ in oxidation and reduction reactions; no reaction occurred upon addition of an oxidant (e.g., cerium(IV) ammonium nitrate (CAN)) to 1 ‐Zn2+, whereas 1 ‐Zn2+ coordinating two water molecules, (TMC)FeIII‐(O2)‐Zn(CF3SO3)2‐(OH2)2 [ 1 ‐Zn2+‐(OH2)2], releases the O2 unit in the oxidation reaction. In the reduction reactions, 1 ‐Zn2+ was converted to its corresponding iron(IV)–oxo species upon addition of a reductant (e.g., a ferrocene derivative), whereas such a reaction occurred at a much slower rate in the case of 1 ‐Zn2+‐(OH2)2. The present results provide the first biomimetic example showing that water molecules at the active sites of metalloenzymes may participate in tuning the redox properties of metal–oxygen intermediates.  相似文献

The catalytic performance of tetra‐n‐butylammonium salts of Keggin and Wells–Dawson sandwich‐type polyoxotungstates, [M4(PW9O34)2]m? and [M4(P2W15O56)2]n? (M = Mn2+, Fe3+, Co2+, Ni2+, Zn2+), in the oxidation of cyclooctene and cyclohexene with 30% hydrogen peroxide under various conditions was investigated. In comparison, Wells–Dawson sandwich‐type polyoxometalates were found to be less active than Keggin ones. In both of them, those containing Zn and Fe gave higher conversions for different oxidation conditions. These catalysts showed very good reusability in the oxidation reaction. The single copper atom doped clusters CuAl4O7–9? can catalyze CO oxidation by O2. The CuAl4O7–9? clusters are the first group of experimentally identified noble‐metal free single atom catalysts for such a prototypical reaction. The reactions were characterized by mass spectrometry and density functional theory calculations. The CuAl4O9CO? is much more reactive than CuAl4O9? in the reaction with CO to generate CO2. One adsorbed CO is crucial to stabilize Cu of CuAl4O9? around +I oxidation state and promote the oxidation of another CO. The widely emphasized correlation between the catalytic reactivity of CO oxidation and Cu oxidation state can be understood at the strictly molecular level. The remarkable difference between Cu catalysis and noble‐metal catalysis was discussed.  相似文献

A series of dual‐metal zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF) crystals with SOD and RHO topologies was synthesised by metal substitution from ZIF‐108 (Zn(2‐nitroimidazolate)2, SOD topology) as the parent material. This was based on the concept that metal substitution of ZIF‐108 requires a much lower activation energy than homogenous nucleation owing to the metastability of ZIF‐108. In‐depth investigations of the formation processes of the daughter ZIFs indicated that the transformation of ZIF‐108 is a dissolution/heterogeneous nucleation process. Typical isostructural Co2+ substitution mainly occurs at the outer surface of ZIF‐108 and results in a core–shell structure. On the contrary, the Cu2+‐substituted ZIF has a RHO topology with a homogeneous distribution of Cu2+ ions in the structure. Substitution with Ni2+ resulted in a remarkable enhancement in adsorption selectivity toward CO2 over N2 by a factor of up to 227. With Co2+‐substituted nanoparticles as inorganic filler, a mixed matrix membrane based on polysulfone displayed greatly improved performance in the separation of H2/CH4, CO2/N2 and CO2/CH4.  相似文献

The direct urea fuel cell (DUFC) is an important but challenging renewable energy production technology, it offers great promise for energy‐sustainable developments and mitigating water contamination. However, DUFCs still suffer from the sluggish kinetics of the urea oxidation reaction (UOR) owing to a 6 e? transfer process, which poses a severe hindrance to their practical use. Herein, taking β‐Ni(OH)2 nanosheets as the proof‐of‐concept study, we demonstrated a surface‐chemistry strategy to achieve metallic Ni(OH)2 nanosheets by engineering their electronic structure, representing a first metallic configuration of transition‐metal hydroxides. Surface sulfur incorporation successfully brings synergetic effects of more exposed active sites, good wetting behavior, and effective electron transport, giving rise to greatly enhanced performance for UOR. Metallic nanosheets exhibited a much higher current density, smaller onset potential and stronger durability.  相似文献

Exploring an alternative anodic reaction to produce value‐added chemicals with high selectivity, especially integrated with promoted hydrogen generation, is desirable. Herein, a selective semi‐dehydrogenation of tetrahydroisoquinolines (THIQs) is demonstrated to replace the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) for boosting H2 evolution reaction (HER) in water over a Ni2P nanosheet electrode. The value‐added semi‐dehydrogenation products, dihydroisoquinolines (DHIQs), can be selectively obtained with high yields at the anode. The controllable semi‐dehydrogenation is attributed to the in situ formed NiII/NiIII redox active species. Such a strategy can deliver a variety of DHIQs bearing electron‐withdrawing/donating groups in good yields and excellent selectivities, and can be applied to gram‐scale synthesis. A two‐electrode Ni2P bifunctional electrolyzer can produce both H2 and DHIQs with robust stability and high Faradaic efficiencies at a much lower cell voltage than that of overall water splitting.  相似文献

The bottleneck in water electrolysis lies in the kinetically sluggish oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Herein, conceptually new metallic non‐metal atomic layers are proposed to overcome this drawback. Metallic single‐unit‐cell CoSe2 sheets with an orthorhombic phase are synthesized by thermally exfoliating a lamellar CoSe2‐DETA hybrid. The metallic character of orthorhombic CoSe2 atomic layers, verified by DFT calculations and temperature‐dependent resistivities, allows fast oxygen evolution kinetics with a lowered overpotential of 0.27 V. The single‐unit‐cell thickness means 66.7 % of the Co2+ ions are exposed on the surface and serve as the catalytically active sites. The lowered Co2+ coordination number down to 1.3 and 2.6, gives a lower Tafel slope of 64 mV dec?1 and higher turnover frequency of 745 h?1. Thus, the single‐unit‐cell CoSe2 sheets have around 2 and 4.5 times higher catalytic activity compared with the lamellar CoSe2‐DETA hybrid and bulk CoSe2.  相似文献

Efficient, stable catalysts with high selectivity for a single product are essential if electroreduction of CO2 is to become a viable route to the synthesis of industrial feedstocks and fuels. A plasma oxidation pre‐treatment of silver foil enhances the number of low‐coordinated catalytically active sites, which dramatically lowers the overpotential and increases the activity of CO2 electroreduction to CO. At −0.6 V versus RHE more than 90 % Faradaic efficiency towards CO was achieved on a pre‐oxidized silver foil. While transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and operando X‐ray absorption spectroscopy showed that oxygen species can survive in the bulk of the catalyst during the reaction, quasi in situ X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy showed that the surface is metallic under reaction conditions. DFT calculations reveal that the defect‐rich surface of the plasma‐oxidized silver foils in the presence of local electric fields drastically decrease the overpotential of CO2 electroreduction.  相似文献

It is highly attractive but challenging to develop earth‐abundant electrocatalysts for energy‐saving electrolytic hydrogen generation. Herein, we report that Ni2P nanoarrays grown in situ on nickel foam (Ni2P/NF) behave as a durable high‐performance non‐noble‐metal electrocatalyst for hydrazine oxidation reaction (HzOR) in alkaline media. The replacement of the sluggish anodic oxygen evolution reaction with such the more thermodynamically favorable HzOR enables energy‐saving electrochemical hydrogen production with the use of Ni2P/NF as a bifunctional catalyst for anodic HzOR and cathodic hydrogen evolution reaction. When operated at room temperature, this two‐electrode electrolytic system drives 500 mA cm−2 at a cell voltage as low as 1.0 V with strong long‐term electrochemical durability and 100 % Faradaic efficiency for hydrogen evolution in 1.0 m KOH aqueous solution with 0.5 m hydrazine.  相似文献

In order to accelerate the reaction rate of water splitting, it is of immense importance to develop low‐cost, stable and efficient catalysts. In this study, the facile synthesis of a novel rose‐like nanocomposite catalyst (Ni2P/Fe2P/Fe3O4) is reported. The synthesis process includes a solvothermal step and a phosphatization step to combine iron oxides and iron‐nickel phosphides. Ni2P/Fe2P/Fe3O4 performs well in catalyzing oxygen evolution reaction, with a very low overpotential of 365 mV to reach 10 mA cm?2 current density. The Tafel slope is as low as 59 mV dec?1. Ni2P/Fe2P/Fe3O4 has a large double‐layer capacitance that contributes to a high electrochemically active area. Moreover, this catalyst is very stable for long‐term use. Therefore, the Ni2P/Fe2P/Fe3O4 catalyst has a high potential for use in oxygen evolution reactions.  相似文献

Quercetin 2,4‐dioxygenase (quercetinase) from Streptomyces uses nickel as the active‐site cofactor to catalyze oxidative cleavage of the flavonol quercetin. How this unusual active‐site metal supports catalysis and O2 activation is under debate. We present crystal structures of Ni‐quercetinase in three different states, thus providing direct insight into how quercetin and O2 are activated at the Ni2+ ion. The Ni2+ ion is coordinated by three histidine residues and a glutamate residue (E76) in all three states. Upon binding, quercetin replaces one water ligand at Ni and is stabilized by a short hydrogen bond through E76, the carboxylate group of which rotates by 90°. This conformational change weakens the interaction between Ni and the remaining water ligand, thereby preparing a coordination site at Ni to bind O2. O2 binds side‐on to the Ni2+ ion and is perpendicular to the C2?C3 and C3?C4 bonds of quercetin, which are cleaved in the following reaction steps.  相似文献

Electrochemical water splitting is a clean technology for H2 fuels, but greatly hindered by the slow kinetics of the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Herein, a series of spinel‐structured nanosheets with oxygen deficiencies and ultrathin thicknesses were designed to increase the reactivity and the number of active sites of the catalysts, which were then taken as an excellent platform for promoting the water oxidation process. Theoretical investigations showed that the oxygen vacancies confined in the ultrathin nanosheet could lower the adsorption energy of H2O, leading to increased OER efficiency. As expected, the NiCo2O4 ultrathin nanosheets rich in oxygen vacancies exhibited a large current density of 285 mA cm?2 at 0.8 V and a small overpotential of 0.32 V, both of which are superior to the corresponding values of bulk samples or samples with few oxygen deficiencies and even higher than those of most reported non‐precious‐metal catalysts. This work should provide a new pathway for the design of advanced OER catalysts.  相似文献

In the present study, Fe2+ and Ni2+ immobilized on hydroxyapatite‐core‐shell γ‐Fe2O3 (γ‐Fe2O3@HAp‐Fe2+ and γ‐Fe2O3@HAp‐Ni2+) with a high surface area has been synthesized and characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and scanning electron microscope (SEM) techniques. Then, γ‐Fe2O3@HAp‐Fe2+ and γ‐Fe2O3@HAp‐Ni2+ were used as a new and magnetically recoverable nano catalyst for the selective oxidation of sulfides to sulfoxides with 33% aqueous H2O2 (0.5 mL) as an oxidant at room temperature in good to excellent yields and short reaction time. Nontoxicity of reagent, mild reaction condition, inexpensive and high catalytic activity, simple experimental procedure, short period of conversion and excellent yields, and ease of recovery from the reaction mixture using an external magnet are the advantages of the present method.  相似文献

The geometry, electronic structure, and catalytic properties of nitrogen‐ and phosphorus‐doped graphene (N‐/P‐graphene) are investigated by density functional theory calculations. The reaction between adsorbed O2 and CO molecules on N‐ and P‐graphene is comparably studied via Langmuir–Hinshelwood (LH) and Eley–Rideal (ER) mechanisms. The results indicate that a two‐step process can occur, namely, CO+O2→CO2+Oads and CO+Oads→CO2. The calculated energy barriers of the first step are 15.8 and 12.4 kcal mol?1 for N‐ and P‐graphene, respectively. The second step of the oxidation reaction on N‐graphene proceeds with an energy barrier of about 4 kcal mol?1. It is noteworthy that this reaction step was not observed on P‐graphene because of the strong binding of Oads species on the P atoms. Thus, it can be concluded that low‐cost N‐graphene can be used as a promising green catalyst for low‐temperature CO oxidation.  相似文献

The oxidation of 4‐methyl‐3‐thiosemicarbazide (MTSC) by bromate and bromine was studied in acidic medium. The stoichiometry of the reaction is extremely complex, and is dependent on the ratio of the initial concentrations of the oxidant to reductant. In excess MTSC and after prolonged standing, the stoichiometry was determined to be H3CN(H)CSN(H)NH2 + 3BrO3? → 2CO2 + NH4+ + SO42? + N2 + 3Br? + H+ (A). An interim stoichiometry is also obtained in which one of the CO2 molecules is replaced by HCOOH with an overall stoichiometry of 3H3CN(H)CSN(H)NH2 + 8BrO3? → CO2 + NH4+ + SO42? + HCOOH + N2 + 3Br? + 3H+ (B). Stoichiometry A and B are not very different, and so mixtures of the two were obtained. Compared to other oxidations of thiourea‐based compounds, this reaction is moderately fast and is first order in both bromate and substrate. It is autocatalytic in HOBr. The reaction is characterized by an autocatalytic sigmoidal decay in the consumption of MTSC, while in excess bromate conditions the reaction shows an induction period before autocatalytic formation of bromine. In both cases, oxybromine chemistry, which involves the initial formation of the reactive species HOBr and Br2, is dominant. The reactions of MTSC with both HOBr and Br2 are fast, and so the overall rate of oxidation is dependent upon the rates of formation of these reactive species from bromate. Our proposed mechanism involves the initial cleavage of the C? N bond on the azo‐side of the molecule to release nitrogen and an activated sulfur species that quickly and rapidly rearranges to give a series of thiourea acids. These thiourea acids are then oxidized to the sulfonic acid before cleavage of the C? S bond to give SO42?, CO2, and NH4+. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J Chem Kinet 34: 237–247, 2002  相似文献
