Radical anion salts of metal‐containing and metal‐free phthalocyanines [MPc(3?)].?, where M=CuII, NiII, H2, SnII, PbII, TiIVO, and VIVO ( 1 – 10 ) with tetraalkylammonium cations have been obtained as single crystals by phthalocyanine reduction with sodium fluorenone ketyl. Their formation is accompanied by the Pc ligand reduction and affects the molecular structure of metal phthalocyanine radical anions as well as their optical and magnetic properties. Radical anions are characterized by the alternation of short and long C?Nimine bonds in the Pc ligand owing to the disruption of its aromaticity. Salts 1 – 10 show new bands at 833–1041 nm in the NIR range, whereas the Q‐ and Soret bands are blue‐shifted by 0.13–0.25 eV (38‐92 nm) and 0.04–0.07 eV (4–13 nm), respectively. Radical anions with NiII, SnII, PbII, and TiIVO have S=1/2 spin state, whereas [CuIIPc(3?)].? and [VIVOPc(3?)].? containing paramagnetic CuII and VIVO have two S=1/2 spins per radical anion. Central metal atoms strongly affect EPR spectra of phthalocyanine radical anions. Instead of narrow EPR signals characteristic of metal‐free phthalocyanine radical anions [H2Pc(3?)].? (linewidth of 0.08–0.24 mT), broad EPR signals are manifested (linewidth of 2–70 mT) with g‐factors and linewidths that are strongly temperature‐dependent. Salt 11 containing the [NaIPc(2?)]? anions as well as previously studied [FeIPc(2?)]? and [CoIPc(2?)]? anions that are formed without reduction of the Pc ligand do not show changes in molecular structure or optical and magnetic properties characteristic of [MPc(3?)].? in 1 – 10 .  相似文献

EPR study showed that the semi‐quinone radical anion of 2,3‐dicyano‐5,6‐dichloro‐1,4‐benzoquinone (DDQ) was formed in a charge transfer process between ground‐state DDQ as acceptor and each one of following ground state donors, i.e., 4‐methyl‐4′‐tridecyl‐2, 2′‐bipyridyl; 4‐methyl‐4′‐nonyl‐2, 2′‐bipyridyl; bis (2,2′‐bipyridyl) (4‐methyl‐4′‐heptadecyl‐2, 2′‐bipyridyl)ruthenium(2+) perchlorate and perylene. EPR study also showed that there are perylene cation radical and pyrene cation radical in the following experimental conditions: (a) in 98% sulfuric add. (b) 10?3 mol/L perylene (or pyrene) was dissolved in trifluoroacetic acid‐nitrobenzene (1: 1 V/V).  相似文献

The mono‐ and bis‐reduction of 6,13‐bis((triisopropylsilyl)ethynyl)quinoxalino[2,3‐b]phenazine ( 1 ) with potassium anthracenide in THF is reported. Both the radical anion 1 .? and the dianion 1 2? were isolated and characterized by optical and structural (single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction) methods. Solutions of the radical anion 1 . ? were stable in air for several hours and characterized by EPR spectroscopy. Dianion 1 2? is highly fluorescent and photostable.  相似文献

Ever since the discovery of the trityl radical, isolation of a stable and neutral organic radical has been a synthetic challenge. A (4n+1)π open‐shell configuration is one such possible neutral radical but an unusual state between aromatic (4n+2)π and antiaromatic (4n)π electronic circuits. The synthesis and characterization of an air‐ and water‐stable neutral 25π pentathiophene macrocyclic radical is now described. It undergoes reversible one‐electron oxidation to a 24π antiaromatic cation and reduction to a 26π aromatic anion, thus confirming its amphoteric behavior. Structural determination by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction studies revealed a planar configuration for the neutral radical, antiaromatic cation, and aromatic anion. In the solution state, the cation shows the highest upfield chemical shift ever observed for a 4nπ system, while the anion adhered to aromatic nature. Computational studies revealed the delocalized nature of the unpaired electron as confirmed by EPR spectroscopy.  相似文献

Designed site‐directed dimerization of the monoanion radicals of a π‐bowl in the solid state is reported. Dibenzo[a,g]corannulene (C28H14) was selected based on the asymmetry of the charge/spin localization in the C28H14.? anion. Controlled one‐electron reduction of C28H14 with Cs metal in diglyme resulted in crystallization of a new dimer, [{Cs+(diglyme)}2(C28H14?C28H14)2?] ( 1 ), as revealed by single crystal X‐ray diffraction study performed in a broad range of temperatures. The C?C bond length between two C28H14.? bowls (1.560(8) Å) measured at ?143 °C does not significantly change upon heating of the crystal to +67 °C. The single σ‐bond character of the C?C linker is confirmed by calculations. The trans‐disposition of two bowls in 1 is observed with the torsion angles around the central C?C bond of 172.3(5)° and 173.5(5)°. A systematic theoretical evaluation of dimerization pathways of C28H14.? radicals confirmed that the trans‐isomer found in 1 is energetically favored.  相似文献

The complex series [Ru(pap)(Q)2]n ([ 1 ]n–[ 4 ]n; n=+2, +1, 0, ?1, ?2) contains four redox non‐innocent entities: one ruthenium ion, 2‐phenylazopyridine (pap), and two o‐iminoquinone moieties, Q=3,5‐di‐tert‐butyl‐N‐aryl‐1,2‐benzoquinonemonoimine (aryl=C6H5 ( 1+ ); m‐(Cl)2C6H3 ( 2+ ); m‐(OCH3)2C6H3 ( 3+ ); m‐(tBu)2C6H3 ( 4 +)). A crystal structure determination of the representative compound, [ 1 ]ClO4, established the crystallization of the ctt‐isomeric form, that is, cis and trans with respect to the mutual orientations of O and N donors of two Q ligands, and the coordinating azo N atom trans to the O donor of Q. The sensitive C? O (average: 1.299(3) Å), C? N (average: 1.346(4) Å) and intra‐ring C? C (meta; average: 1.373(4) Å) bond lengths of the coordinated iminoquinone moieties in corroboration with the N?N length (1.292(3) Å) of pap in 1 + establish [RuIII(pap0)(Q.?)2]+ as the most appropriate electronic structural form. The coupling of three spins from one low‐spin ruthenium(III) (t2g5) and two Q.? radicals in 1 +– 4 + gives a ground state with one unpaired electron on Q.?, as evident from g=1.995 radical‐type EPR signals for 1 +– 4 +. Accordingly, the DFT‐calculated Mulliken spin densities of 1 + (1.152 for two Q, Ru: ?0.179, pap: 0.031) confirm Q‐based spin. Complex ions 1 +– 4 + exhibit two near‐IR absorption bands at about λ=2000 and 920 nm in addition to intense multiple transitions covering the visible to UV regions; compounds [ 1 ]ClO4–[ 4 ]ClO4 undergo one oxidation and three separate reduction processes within ±2.0 V versus SCE. The crystal structure of the neutral (one‐electron reduced) state ( 2 ) was determined to show metal‐based reduction and an EPR signal at g=1.996. The electronic transitions of the complexes 1 n– 4 n (n=+2, +1, 0, ?1, ?2) in the UV, visible, and NIR regions, as determined by using spectroelectrochemistry, have been analyzed by TD‐DFT calculations and reveal significant low‐energy absorbance (λmax>1000 nm) for cations, anions, and neutral forms. The experimental studies in combination with DFT calculations suggest the dominant valence configurations of 1 n– 4 n in the accessible redox states to be [RuIII(pap0)(Q.?)(Q0)]2+ ( 1 2+– 4 2+)→[RuIII(pap0)(Q.?)2]+ ( 1 +– 4 +)→[RuII(pap0)(Q.?)2] ( 1 – 4 )→[RuII(pap.?)(Q.?)2]? ( 1 ?– 4 ?)→[RuIII(pap.?)(Q2?)2]2? ( 1 2?– 4 2?).  相似文献

Poly(trifluoromethyl)fullerene S6‐C60(CF3)12 was reduced by sodium fluorenone ketyl in the presence of (PPN)Cl (PPN=bis(triphenylphosphine)iminium) to afford the salt (PPN)[C60(CF3)12] ( 1 ), which contains C60(CF3)12.? radical anions. In the crystal structure of 1 , C60(CF3)12.? layers alternate with the PPN+ cations. There are short F ??? F contacts between C60(CF3)12.? radical anions within the layers but no C ??? C contacts. DFT calculations revealed that the negative charge on C60(CF3)12.? is distributed mainly between sp2 carbon and fluorine atoms, whereas spin density is localized mainly on the fullerene‐cage sp2 carbon atoms. IR and UV/Vis/NIR spectra in the solid state and solution showed characteristic changes relative to those of neutral S6‐C60(CF3)12 due to the formation of radical anions. The solid‐state electronic spectrum of 1 exhibits a single broad band at 738 nm attributed to C60(CF3)12.?. Crystals of 1 show a narrow EPR signal with g=2.0025 (ΔH=0.45 mT) at 300 K. The temperature dependence of the integral intensity follows the Curie–Weiss law with a negative Weiss temperature of ?11.8 K (30–300 K) indicating antiferromagnetic interaction of spins. This dependence was approximated by the Heisenberg model for one‐dimensional chains of antiferromagnetically interacting spins with exchange interaction J/kB=?9.1 K. It was assumed that magnetic interaction between the C60(CF3)12.? spins in the layers is mediated by short F ??? F contacts.  相似文献

Voltammetric behavior of sodium 7‐methoxyl‐4′‐hydroxylisoflavone‐3′‐sulfonate (SMHS) in the aqueous solution from pH 1 to 5 was studied by linear sweep voltammetry, cyclic voltammetry and normal pulse voltammetry. Experimental results showed that in 0.2 mol*L?1 sodium citrate‐hydrochloric acid buffer solution (pH=4.65), SMHS caused only one reduction wave at ?1.34 V (vs. saturated calomel electrode, SCE), which was an h‐reversible adsorptive wave of SMHS protonized involving one electron and one proton. The peak current of SMHS on linear sweep voltammogram was proportional to its concentration in the range of 8.0 × 10 ?8.0·10 mol*L?1 (r = 0.995). and the detection limit was 5.0·10?6mol*L?1. The method was applied to determination of SMHS, in synthetic samples. In addition, its scavenging effect on superoxide anion radical was studied by the auto‐oxidation of pyrogallol in HCI‐tris buffer solution (pH = 8.2) in order to explain its peculiar biological effects. The experimental results proved that SMHS has antioxidant quality, and it is an efficient free radical scavenger of superoxide anion radical.  相似文献

To explore the nature of electron attachment to guanine‐centered DNA single strands in the presence of a polarizable medium, a theoretical investigation of the DNA oligomer dinucleoside phosphate deoxyguanylyl‐3′,5′‐deoxyguanosine (dGpdG) was performed by using density functional theory. Four different electron‐distribution patterns for the radical anions of dGpdG in aqueous solution have been located as local minima on the potential energy surface. The excess electron is found to reside on the proton of the phosphate group (dGpH?dG), or on the phosphate group (dGp.?dG), or on the nucleobase at the 5′ position (dG.?pdG), or on the nucleobase at the 3′ position (dGpdG.?), respectively. These four radical anions are all expected to be electronically viable species under the influence of the polarizable medium. The predicted energetics of the radical anions follows the order dGp.?dG>dG.?pdG>dGpdG.?>dGpH?dG. The base–base stacking pattern in DNA single strands seems unaffected by electron attachment. On the contrary, intrastrand H‐bonding is greatly influenced by electron attachment, especially in the formation of base‐centered radical anions. The intrastrand H‐bonding patterns revealed in this study also suggest that intrastrand proton transfer might be possible between successive guanines due to electron attachment to DNA single strands.  相似文献

The selective radical/radical cross‐coupling of two different organic radicals is a great challenge due to the inherent activity of radicals. In this paper, a copper‐catalyzed radical/radical C? H/P? H cross‐coupling has been developed. It provides a radical/radical cross‐coupling in a selective manner. This work offers a simple way toward β‐ketophosphonates by oxidative coupling of aryl ketone o‐acetyloximes with phosphine oxides using CuCl as catalyst and PCy3 as ligand in dioxane under N2 atmosphere at 130 °C for 5 h, and yields ranging from 47 % to 86 %. The preliminary mechanistic studies by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) showed that, 1) the reduction of ketone o‐acetyloximes generates iminium radicals, which could isomerize to α‐sp3‐carbon radical species; 2) phosphorus radicals were generated from the oxidation of phosphine oxides. Various aryl ketone o‐acetyloximes and phosphine oxides were suitable for this transformation.  相似文献

The first example of a two‐state (neutral and reduced), stable electron‐accepting material and its radical anion is presented. FV‐PDI, generated from cyclocarbonylation and then a carbonyl coupling reaction, shows a largely degenerate LUMO of ?4.38 eV based on the delocalization of π‐electrons across the whole molecular skeleton through a fulvalene bridge. The stability and electron affinity allow spontaneous electron transfer to afford a stable radical anion. Spectroscopic characterization and structural elucidation showed that the radical anion [FV‐PDI].? has remarkable stability and near‐infrared absorptions extending to 1200 nm. Single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction analyses revealed significant changes in the molecular shape and packing arrangement of the formed radical anion. The central C?C bond linking the two PDI halves is lengthened from approximately 1.33 to 1.43 Å, and the alternating arrangement of positively and negatively charged units favor the stable charge‐transfer complex.  相似文献

Porphyrin metal‐organic frameworks (PMOFs) are emerging as heterogeneous photocatalysts owing to the well‐designed frameworks incorporated with powerful light‐harvesting porphyrin chromophores. The porous and stable framework Ir?PCN‐224 (which is also denoted as Ir?PMOF‐1), which has been prepared by the self‐assembly of Ir(TCPP)Cl (TCPP=tetrakis(4‐carboxyphenyl)porphyrin) and ZrCl4, is reported herein to be efficient for the aerobic cross‐dehydrogenative carbon?phosphorus coupling reaction, giving rise to a high turn‐over number (TON) of up to 17200 under visible light irradiation (λ≥420 nm). Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) experiments disclose that the active species might be the superoxide radical anion (O2.?). Additionally, the intermediate imine cation has been detected by high‐resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS).  相似文献

Electrochemical reduction of CO2 into energy‐dense chemical feedstock and fuels provides an attractive pathway to sustainable energy storage and artificial carbon cycle. Herein, we report the first work to use atomic Ir electrocatalyst for CO2 reduction. By using α‐Co(OH)2 as the support, the faradaic efficiency of CO could reach 97.6 % with a turnover frequency (TOF) of 38290 h?1 in aqueous electrolyte, which is the highest TOF up to date. The electrochemical active area is 23.4‐times higher than Ir nanoparticles (2 nm), which is highly conductive and favors electron transfer from CO2 to its radical anion (CO2.?). Moreover, the more efficient stabilization of CO2.? intermediate and easy charge transfer makes the atomic Ir electrocatalyst facilitate CO production. Hence, α‐Co(OH)2‐supported atomic Ir electrocatalysts show enhanced CO2 activity and stability.  相似文献

The electrochemical behavior of 2‐(5‐amino‐ 1,3,4‐oxadiazolyl)‐5‐nitrofuran (NF359) and its comparison with well‐known drugs such as nifurtimox (NFX) and nitrofurazone (NFZ) in protic, mixed and aprotic media by cyclic voltammetry, tast and differential pulse polarography was studied. All the compounds were electrochemically reducible in all media being the reduction of the nitrofuran group the main voltammetric signal. The one‐electron reduction couple due to the nitro radical anion formation was visualized in mixed (for NF359 and NFZ) and aprotic media (for all compounds). By applying a cyclic voltammetric methodology we have calculated the decay constants (k2) of the corresponding nitro radical anions in mixed and aprotic media. In mixed medium data fit well with a disproportionation reaction of the nitro radical anion but in aprotic medium fit better with a dimerization reaction. Also, considering cyclic voltammetric measurements in aprotic media we have estimated the reduction potential of the RNO2/RNO2.? couple in aqueous medium, pH 7 (E17 values) finding very good correlation with E17 values obtained by pulse radiolysis. Furthermore we have calculated the equilibrium constants from the electron transfer from nitro radical anion to oxygen (kO2) finding that nitro radical anion from NF359 is thermodynamically favored to react with oxygen in respect to both NFZ and NFX.  相似文献

Photolysis of [Cp*As{W(CO)5}2] ( 1 a ) in the presence of Mes*P?PMes* (Mes*=2,4,6‐tri‐tert‐butylphenyl) leads to the novel 1,3‐diphospha‐2‐arsaallyl radical [(CO)5W(μ,η21‐P2AsMes*2)W(CO)4] ( 2 a ). The frontier orbitals of the radical 2 a are indicative of a stable π‐allylic system that is only marginally influenced by the d orbitals of the two tungsten atoms. The SOMO and the corresponding spin density distribution of the radical 2 a show that the unpaired electron is preferentially located at the two equivalent terminal phosphorus atoms, which has been confirmed by EPR spectroscopy. The protonated derivative of 2 a , the complex [(CO)5W(μ,η21‐P2As(H)Mes*2)W(CO)4] ( 6 a ) is formed during chromatographic workup, whereas the additional products [Mes*P?PMes*{W(CO)5}] as the Z‐isomer ( 3 ) and the E‐isomer ( 4 ), and [As2{W(CO)5}3] ( 5 ) are produced as a result of a decomposition reaction of radical 2 a . Reduction of radical 2 a yields the stable anion [(CO)5W(μ,η21‐P2AsMes*2)W(CO)4]? in 7 a , whereas upon oxidation the corresponding cationic complex [(CO)5W(μ,η21‐P2AsMes*2)W(CO)4][SbF6] ( 8 a ) is formed, which is only stable at low temperatures in solution. Compounds 2 a , 7 a , and 8 a represent the hitherto elusive complexed redox congeners of the diphospha‐arsa‐allyl system. The analogous oxidation of the triphosphaallyl radical [(CO)5W(μ,η21‐ P3Mes*2)W(CO)4] ( 2 b ) also leads to an allyl cation, which decomposes under CH activation to the phosphine derivative [(CO)5W{μ,η21‐P3(Mes*)(C5H2tBu2C(CH3)2CH2)}W(CO)4] ( 9 ), in which a CH bond of a methyl group of the Mes* substituent has been activated. All new products have been characterized by NMR spectrometry and IR spectroscopy, and compounds 2 a , 3 , 6 a , 7 a , and 9 by X‐ray diffraction analysis.  相似文献

Two self‐assembled supramolecular donor–acceptor triads consisting of AlIII porphyrin (AlPor) with axially bound naphthalenediimide (NDI) as an acceptor and tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) as a secondary donor are reported. In the triads, the NDI and TTF units are attached to AlIII on opposite faces of the porphyrin, through covalent and coordination bonds, respectively. Fluorescence studies show that the lowest excited singlet state of the porphyrin is quenched through electron transfer to NDI and hole transfer to TTF. In dichloromethane hole transfer to TTF dominates, whereas in benzonitrile (BN) electron transfer to NDI is the main quenching pathway. In the nematic phase of the liquid crystalline solvent 4‐(n‐pentyl)‐4′‐cyanobiphenyl (5CB), a spin‐polarized transient EPR spectrum that is readily assigned to the weakly coupled radical pair TTF.+NDI.? is obtained. The initial polarization pattern indicates that the charge separation occurs through the singlet channel and that singlet–triplet mixing occurs in the primary radical pair. At later time the polarization pattern inverts as a result of depopulation of the states with singlet character by recombination to the ground state. The singlet lifetime of TTF.+NDI.? is estimated to be 200–300 ns, whereas the triplet lifetime in the approximately 350 mT magnetic field of the X‐band EPR spectrometer is about 10 μs. In contrast, in dichloromethane and BN the lifetime of the charge separation is <10 ns.  相似文献

Reducing hexaazatrinaphthylene (HAN) with potassium in the presence of 18‐c‐6 produces [{K(18‐c‐6)}HAN], which contains the S=1/2 radical [HAN].?. The [HAN].? radical can be transferred to the cobalt(II) amide [Co{N(SiMe3)2}2], forming [K(18‐c‐6)][(HAN){Co(N′′)2}3]; magnetic measurements on this compound reveal an S=4 spin system with strong cobalt–ligand antiferromagnetic exchange and J≈?290 cm?1 (?2 J formalism). In contrast, the CoII centres in the unreduced analogue [(HAN){Co(N′′)2}3] are weakly coupled (J≈?4.4 cm?1). The finding that [HAN].? can be synthesized as a stable salt and transferred to cobalt introduces potential new routes to magnetic materials based on strongly coupled, triangular HAN building blocks.  相似文献

X‐ray studies show that 1,3‐diphenyl‐7‐(thien‐2‐yl)‐1,4‐dihydro‐1,2,4‐benzotriazin‐4‐yl ( 6 ) adopts a distorted, slipped π‐stacked structure of centrosymmetric dimers with alternate short and long interplanar distances (3.48 and 3.52 Å). Cyclic voltammograms of 7‐(thien‐2‐yl)benzotriazin‐4‐yl 6 show two fully reversible waves that correspond to the ?1/0 and 0/+1 processes. EPR and DFT studies on radical 6 indicate that the spin density is mainly delocalized over the triazinyl fragment. Magnetic susceptibility measurements show that radical 6 obeys Curie–Weiss behavior in the 5–300 K region with C=0.378 emu K mol?1 and θ=+4.72 K, which is consistent with ferromagnetic interactions between S=1/2 radicals. Fitting the magnetic susceptibility revealed the behavior is consistent with an alternating ferromagnetic chain (g=2.0071, J1=+7.12 cm?1, J2=+1.28 cm?1).  相似文献

The superoxide radical anion (O2.?) is biologically toxic and contributes to the pathogenesis of various diseases. Here we describe the superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity of human serum albumin (HSA) complexed with a single CuII ion at the N‐terminal end (HSA–Cu complex). The structure of this naturally occurring copper‐coordinated blood serum protein has been characterized by several physicochemical measurements. The O2.? dismutation ability of the HSA–Cu (1:1) complex is almost the same as that of the well‐known SOD mimics, such as MnIII‐tetrakis(N‐methylpyridinium)porphyrin. Interestingly, the HSA–Cu complex does not induce a subsequent Fenton reaction to produce the hydroxyl radical (OH.), which is one of the most harmful reactive oxygen species.  相似文献

Dioldehydrase is an adenosylcobalamin‐dependent enzyme that catalyzes the dehydration of (R)‐ or (S)‐propane‐1,2‐diol to propanal. The reaction proceeds by a radical mechanism initiated by the homolytic scission of the covalent Co? C(5′) bond in the coenzyme to form cob(II)alamin and the 5‐deoxyadenosyl radical as transient intermediates. Dioldehydrase is subject to ‘suicide inactivation’ by substrate/product analogs. Inactivation by 2‐chloroacetaldehyde converts the inactivator into the ‘cis‐ethanesemidione’ radical. A mechanism for this process includes reaction of chloroacetaldehyde in the reverse of the normal catalytic process to a rearranged radical that eliminates HCl. K+ and other monovalent cations of similar size, including Tl+, are required for dioldehydrase activity and for suicide inactivation by glycolaldehyde or 2‐chloroacetaldehyde. A K+ ion is bound to propane‐1,2‐diol in dioldehydrase. Both EPR and pulsed‐EPR experiments show that the magnetic nuclei of thallous ions (203Tl+, 205Tl+) do not interact with the unpaired electron in the cis‐ethanesemidione radical at the active site of dioldehydrase. Pulsed‐EPR experiments implicate a 14NH group, possibly of His143, interacting with the radical at the active site.  相似文献
