Indeno[1,2‐b]fluorene‐based [2,2]cyclophanes with 4n/4n and 4n/[4n+2] π‐electron systems were prepared, and their structures were identified by X‐ray crystallography. With short π–π distances around 3.0 Å, [2.2](5,11)indeno[1,2‐b]fluorenophane and its precursor [2.2](5,11)indeno[1,2‐b]fluorene‐6,12‐dionophane exhibit remarkable transannular interactions, leading to their unusual electrochemical and photophysical properties. With the aid of femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy, the transition from the monomeric excited state to the redshifted H‐type dimeric state was first observed, correlating to the calculated excitonic energy splitting and the steady‐state absorption spectra induced by charge‐transfer‐mediated superexchange interaction.  相似文献

Noncovalent interactions involving aromatic rings, such as π‐stacking and CH/π interactions, are central to many areas of modern chemistry. However, recent studies proved that aromaticity is not required for stacking interactions, since similar interaction energies were computed for several aromatic and aliphatic dimers. Herein, the nature and origin of π/π, σ/σ, and σ/π dispersion interactions has been investigated by using dispersion‐corrected density functional theory, energy decomposition analysis, and the recently developed noncovalent interaction (NCI) method. Our analysis shows that π/π and σ/σ stacking interactions are equally important for the benzene and cyclohexane dimers, explaining why both compounds have similar boiling points. Also, similar dispersion forces are found in the benzene???methane and cyclohexane???methane complexes. However, for systems larger than naphthalene, there are enhanced stacking interactions in the aromatic dimers adopting a parallel‐displaced configuration compared to the analogous saturated systems. Although dispersion plays a decisive role in stabilizing all the complexes, the origin of the π/π, σ/σ, and σ/π interactions is different. The NCI method reveals that the dispersion interactions between the hydrogen atoms are responsible for the surprisingly strong aliphatic interactions. Moreover, whereas σ/σ and σ/π interactions are local, the π/π stacking are inherently delocalized, which give rise to a non‐additive effect. These new types of dispersion interactions between saturated groups can be exploited in the rational design of novel carbon materials.  相似文献

The high reactivity of 6π‐electrocyclization in polar solvents has remained one of the important challenges for diarylethenes because of the emergence of a twisted intramolecular charge transfer (TICT) state at the excited state in such polar media, which usually quenches the photocyclization reaction. Herein we report on the preparation and highly efficient photocyclization of 2,3‐diarylbenzo[b]thiophenes with nonsymmetric side‐aryl units in a polar solvent. While the dithiazolylbenzo[b]thiophene showed a suppressed quantum yield of 6π‐electrocyclization of 54 % in methanol, the replacement of a thiazole unit with a thiophene ring led to a photon‐quantitative 6π‐cyclization reaction. The nonsymmetrical modification into the side‐aryl units was considered to enhance the CH/π interactions between side‐aryl units to support a photoreactive conformation in methanol. The stabilization of the photochromic reactive conformation is expected to suppress the formation of the TICT state at the excited state, leading to highly efficient photoreactivity.  相似文献

An improved synthetic pathway to the nanobelt‐like 1,1,9,9‐tetramethyl[9](2,11)teropyrenophane has been developed, and enables the synthesis of gram quantities of material. Key innovations are the development of a sequential chlorination/Friedel–Crafts alkylation reaction, a sequential iodination/Wurtz coupling reaction, and a room‐temperature teropyrene‐forming reaction. The teropyrenophane was found to form a very stable radical cation and undergo a completely regioselective fourfold bromination reaction.  相似文献

Gas‐phase clusters are deemed to be σ‐aromatic when they satisfy the 4n+2 rule of aromaticity for delocalized σ electrons and fulfill other requirements known for aromatic systems. While the range of n values was shown to be quite broad when applied to short‐lived clusters found in molecular‐beam experiments, stability of all‐metal cluster‐like fragments isolated in condensed phase was previously shown to be mainly ascribed to two electrons (n=0). In this work, the applicability of this concept is extended towards solid‐state compounds by demonstrating a unique example of a storable compound, which was isolated as a stable [K([2.2.2]crypt)]+ salt, featuring a [Au2Sb16]4? cluster core possessing two all‐metal aromatic AuSb4 fragments with six delocalized σ electrons each (n=1). This discovery pushes the boundaries of the original idea of Kekulé and firmly establishes the usefulness of the σ‐aromaticity concept as a general idea for both small clusters and solid‐state compounds.  相似文献

The structural and electronic consequences of π–π and C?H/π interactions in two alkoxy‐substituted 1,8‐bis‐ ((propyloxyphenyl)ethynyl)naphthalenes are explored by using X‐ray crystallography and electronic structure computations. The crystal structure of analogue 4 , bearing an alkoxy side chain in the 4‐position of each of the phenyl rings, adopts a π‐stacked geometry, whereas analogue 8 , bearing alkoxy groups at both the 2‐ and the 5‐positions of each ring, has a geometry in which the rings are splayed away from a π‐stacked arrangement. Symmetry‐adapted perturbation theory analysis was performed on the two analogues to evaluate the interactions between the phenylethynyl arms in each molecule in terms of electrostatic, steric, polarization, and London dispersion components. The computations support the expectation that the π‐stacked geometry of the alkoxyphenyl units in 4 is simply a consequence of maximizing π–π interactions. However, the splayed geometry of 8 results from a more subtle competition between different noncovalent interactions: this geometry provides a favorable anti‐alignment of C?O bond dipoles, and two C?H/π interactions in which hydrogen atoms of the alkyl side chains interact favorably with the π electrons of the other phenyl ring. These favorable interactions overcome competing π–π interactions to give rise to a geometry in which the phenylethynyl substituents are in an offset, unstacked arrangement.  相似文献

The chemical synthesis of a novel polyfuran, poly(2,3‐bis(hexylthio)‐[1,4]dithiino[2,3‐c]furan) ( PBDF ), substituted at the 2,3‐positions with an S‐alkylated dithiin unit, is reported. The new polymer has been characterized in terms of its electronic absorption, electrochemical, and thermal properties. Employment of the dithiin moiety provides intrinsic additional electroactivity, as well as a functional handle for substitution with alkyl groups, enhancing the processability of the polymer. The new polymer is compared with the closely related and well‐established literature compounds PEDOT and PEDTT as well‐studied, highly chalcogenated polythiophenes.

The synthesis of fused and nonfused core‐modified 40π nonaphyrins are reported. Spectroscopic and X‐ray structural studies reveal a twisted figure‐eight conformation in the freebase form that is nonaromatic. Structural changes occur, from figure‐eight to open extended conformation, upon protonation, thereby adopting 4nπ Hückel antiaromatic character, which is reflected in spectroscopic and theoretical studies. Such a structural change also induces ring inversions of specific heterocyclic rings by 180°.  相似文献

Various approaches to the synthesis of 1,4‐dihydropyrrolo[3,2‐b]pyrroles are summarized. Many two‐ and three‐step reaction sequences have been developed, and have allowed access to a broad variety of structures, including not only the parent 1,4‐dihydropyrrolo[3,2‐b]pyrroles, but also their π‐expanded analogues. The newest approaches are critically compared with older strategies. The reactivity of these compounds is also reviewed, with special emphasis on electrophilic aromatic substitution. The synthesis of indolo[3,2‐b]indole derivatives has been the subject of intense investigation. Overall, a few interesting and ingenious approaches toward these ladder‐type heteroacenes have been proposed, reaching total yields in the region of 30 %. Finally, the optical, electrochemical, and other physicochemical properties are presented in the broader perspective of heteropentalenes. The parent 1,4‐dihydro‐pyrrolo[3,2‐b]pyrroles constitute the most electron‐rich, simple, aromatic heterocycles, and their simple derivatives and π‐expanded analogues possess strong violet, blue, or green fluorescence both in solution and in the solid state.  相似文献

Cationic, two‐coordinate gold π complexes that contain a phosphine or N‐heterocyclic supporting ligand have attracted considerable attention recently owing to the potential relevance of these species as intermediates in the gold‐catalyzed functionalization of C? C multiple bonds. Although neutral two‐coordinate gold π complexes have been known for over 40 years, examples of the cationic two‐coordinate gold(I) π complexes germane to catalysis remained undocumented prior to 2006. This situation has changed dramatically in recent years and well‐defined examples of two‐coordinate, cationic gold π complexes containing alkene, alkyne, diene, allene, and enol ether ligands have been documented. This Minireview highlights this recent work with a focus on the structure, bonding, and ligand exchange behavior of these complexes.  相似文献

The first planar π‐extended azulene that retains aromaticity of odd‐membered rings was synthesized by [3+3] peri‐annulation of two naphthalene imides at both long‐edge sides of azulene. Using bromination and subsequent nucleophilic substitution by methoxide and morpholine, selective functionalization of the π‐extended azulene was achieved. Whilst these new azulenes can be regarded as isomers of terrylene bisimide they exhibit entirely different properties, which include very narrow optical and electrochemical gaps. DFT, TD‐DFT, as well as nucleus‐independent chemical shift calculations were applied to explain the structural and functional properties of these new π scaffolds. Furthermore, X‐ray crystallography confirmed the planarity of the reported π‐scaffolds and aromaticity of their azulene moiety.  相似文献

Dihydroxybenziphthalocyanine 1 , with bulky aryloxy groups, has been synthesized and characterized by X‐ray crystallography, NMR and UV/Vis‐NIR spectroscopy, and theoretical calculations. Macrocycle 1 is the first example of an aromatic benziphthalocyanine with an 18π‐electron structure, and was found to exist as an equilibrium mixture of weakly aromatic and strongly aromatic tautomers. The aromaticity and near‐IR absorption can be controlled by chemical modification at the reactive resorcinol moiety and by variation of the solvent.  相似文献

A global glide disorder has been discovered during an X‐ray investigation of the crystal structure of (Z)‐2‐[(E)‐(4‐methoxybenzylidene)hydrazinylidene]‐1,2‐diphenylethanone ( MHDE , C22H18N2O2) at room temperature. In another crystal, however, such disorder disappears (still at room temperature). Even though the disorder may be partly due to the poor quality of the harvested crystal, the structure can shed light on the nature of disorder. With the help of quantum chemical calculations, it is found that the global disorder seems to be connected with the need for stabilization of the somewhat rigid but mobile and unstable molecular structure. The most relevant feature driving the packing of the disordered structure concerns the slight perturbations (such as glide) of two or more disorder components (fractional occupancies) distributed throughout the crystal.  相似文献
