Materials with the ability to persistently emit intense near-infrared (NIR) light after ceasing excitation are very useful in many fields. The persistent time is a vital parameter for successful applications. In this study, we developed an emerging NIR super-long persistent luminescent (PersL) material, Cr3+-activated magnetoplumbite oxide La(Zn/Mg)(Ga,Al)11O19:Cr3+, by doping Yb3+ as a new efficient electron trap and incorporating Al3+ to engineer the energy band. We show that fine control of the trap depth and density is the key underpinning for PersL enhancement. The title material emits intense PersL in the spectral range of 600–950 nm with a PersL time of more than 1,000 h. Furthermore, after undergoing such long-term decay, the NIR emission can be revived by photo-/thermo-stimulation. We demonstrate its potential uses in bioimaging, multilevel anti-counterfeiting, tracing, and positioning. This study provides insight into how energy band engineering manipulates electronic structures to achieve high-performance PersL. The new NIR persistent phosphor may be soon utilized in related applications.  相似文献

Cr3+-doped phosphors show significant application potential in near-infrared (NIR) light-emitting diodes (LEDs). However, the development of thermally stable and efficient NIR phosphors still faces enormous challenges. Herein, NIR phosphors K2NaMF6:Cr3+ (M3+ = Al3+, Ga3+, and In3+) were synthesized by the hydrothermal method. The represented K2NaAlF6:Cr3+ phosphor can be effectively excited by blue light (~430 nm) to present broadband emission at half a maximum of 96 nm peaking at ~ 728 nm. Meanwhile, the K2NaAlF6:Cr3+ phosphor exhibits excellent internal quantum efficiency (IQE = 68.08%) and nearly zero-thermal-quenching behavior, which is able to maintain 96.5% emission intensity at 150 °C of the initial value at 25 °C. The NIR phosphor-converted LED was fabricated based on K2NaAlF6:Cr3+ phosphor and a blue LED chip, showing a NIR output power of 394.39 mW at 300 mA with a high photoelectric conversion efficiency of 10.9% at 20 mA. Using the high-power NIR LED as a lighting source, transparent and quick veins imaging as well as non-destructive testing were demonstrated, suggesting the NIR phosphor has a wide range of practical applications.  相似文献

Ultra‐small ZnGa2O4:Cr3+ nanoparticles (6 nm) that exhibit near‐infrared (NIR) persistent luminescence properties are synthesized by using a non‐aqueous sol–gel method assisted by microwave irradiation. The nanoparticles are pegylated, leading to highly stable dispersions under physiological conditions. Preliminary in vivo studies show the high potential for these ultra‐small ZnGa2O4:Cr3+ nanoparticles to be used as in vivo optical nanotools as they emit without the need for in situ excitation and, thus, avoid the autofluorescence of tissues.  相似文献

Persistent luminescent nanocrystals (PLNCs) in the sub-10 nm domain are considered to be the most fascinating inventions in lighting technology owing to their excellent performance in anti-counterfeiting, luminous paints, bioimaging, security applications, etc. Further improvement of persistent luminescence (PersL) intensity and lifetime is needed to achieve the desired success of PLNCs while keeping the uniform sub-10 nm size. In this work, the concept of molten salt confinement to thermally anneal as-synthesized ZnGa2O4:Cr3+ (ZGOC) colloidal NCs (CNCs) in a molten salt medium at 650 °C is introduced. This method led to significantly monodispersed and few agglomerated NCs with a much improved photoluminescence (PL) and PersL intensity without much growth in the size of the pristine CNCs. Other strategies such as i) thermal annealing, ii) overcoating, and iii) the core–shell strategy have also been tried to improve PL and PersL but did not improve them simultaneously. Moreover, directly annealing the CNCs in air without the assistance of molten salt could significantly improve both PL and PersL but led to particle heterogeneity and aggregation, which are highly unsuitable for in vivo imaging. We believe this work provides a novel strategy to design PLNCs with high PL intensity and long PersL duration without losing their nanostructural characteristics, water dispersibility and biocompatibility.  相似文献

Near‐infrared (NIR) imaging techniques have attracted significant attention for biological and medicinal applications due to the ability of NIR to penetrate deeply into tissues. However, there are very few stable, activatable molecular probes that can utilize NIR light in the wavelength range beyond 800 nm. Herein, we report a new activatable NIR system for photoacoustic imaging based on tautomeric benziphthalocyanines (BPcs). We found that the existence of a free hydroxyl group is crucial for NIR absorption of BPcs. Synthesized water‐soluble hydroxy BPcs exhibited high photostability and no fluorescence, which are desirable features for photoacoustic imaging. We synthesized BPcs in which the free hydroxyl group was masked by an esterase‐labile or an H2O2‐labile group. The photoacoustic signals of these hydroxy‐masked BPcs were increased upon NIR excitation at 880 nm in the presence of esterase or H2O2, respectively. These are rare examples of activatable probes utilizing NIR light at around 900 nm.  相似文献

There are many reports on long persistent phosphors (LPPs) applied in bioimaging. However, there are few reports on LPPs applied in photothermal therapy (PTT), and an integrated system with multiple functions of diagnosis and therapy. In this work, we fabricate effective multifunctional phosphors Zn3Ga2SnO8: Cr3+, Nd3+, Gd3+ with NIR persistent phosphorescence, photothermal response and magnetism. Such featured materials can act as NIR optical biolabels and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agents for tracking the early cancer cells, but also as photothermal therapeutic agent for killing the cancer cells. This new multifunctional biomaterial is expected to open a new possibility of setting up an advanced imaging‐guided therapy system featuring a high resolution for bioimaging and low side effects for the photothermal ablation of tumors.  相似文献

Cr3+‐doped SrGa12O19 is demonstrated to be a broadband near‐infrared (650–950 nm) long‐persistent phosphor whose luminescence can last for more than 2 h after ultraviolet irradiation is stopped. Detailed analysis of the photoluminescence and thermoluminescence spectra and of the persistent decay behavior of the Cr3+‐doped SrGa12O19 samples indicate that the persistent energy transfer from the SrGa12O19 host to the Cr3+ ions and the filling and release of electrons into and from the shallow and deep traps through the conduction band is responsible for the long‐persistent phosphorescence.  相似文献

Fluorescent probes in the second near‐infrared window (NIR‐II) allow high‐resolution bioimaging with deep‐tissue penetration. However, existing NIR‐II materials often have poor signal‐to‐background ratios because of the lack of target specificity. Herein, an activatable NIR‐II nanoprobe for visualizing colorectal cancers was devised. This designed probe displays H2S‐activated ratiometric fluorescence and light‐up NIR‐II emission at 900–1300 nm. By using this activatable and target specific probe for deep‐tissue imaging of H2S‐rich colon cancer cells, accurate identification of colorectal tumors in animal models were performed. It is anticipated that the development of activatable NIR‐II probes will find widespread applications in biological and clinical systems.  相似文献

Sunlight‐excitable orange or red persistent oxide phosphors with excellent performance are still in great need. Herein, an intense orange‐red Sr3?xBaxSiO5:Eu2+,Dy3+ persistent luminescence phosphor was successfully developed by a two‐step design strategy. The XRD patterns, photoluminescence excitation and emission spectra, and the thermoluminescence spectra were investigated in detail. By adding non‐equivalent trivalent rare earth co‐dopants to introduce foreign trapping centers, the persistent luminescence performance of Eu2+ in Sr3SiO5 was significantly modified. The yellow persistent emission intensity of Eu2+ was greatly enhanced by a factor of 4.5 in Sr3SiO5:Eu2+,Nd3+ compared with the previously reported Sr3SiO5:Eu2+, Dy3+. Furthermore, Sr ions were replaced with equivalent Ba to give Sr3?xBaxSiO5:Eu2+,Dy3+ phosphor, which shows yellow‐to‐orange‐red tunable persistent emissions from λ=570 to 591 nm as x is increased from 0 to 0.6. Additionally, the persistent emission intensity of Eu2+ is significantly improved by a factor of 2.7 in Sr3?xBaxSiO5:Eu2+,Dy3+ (x=0.2) compared with Sr3SiO5:Eu2+,Dy3+. A possible mechanism for enhanced and tunable persistent luminescence behavior of Eu2+ in Sr3?xBaxSiO5:Eu2+,RE3+ (RE=rare earth) is also proposed and discussed.  相似文献

Multimodal imaging and simultaneous therapy is highly desirable because it can provide complementary information from each imaging modality for accurate diagnosis and, at the same time, afford an imaging‐guided focused tumor therapy. In this study, indocyanine green (ICG), a near‐infrared (NIR) imaging agent and perfect NIR light absorber for laser‐mediated photothermal therapy, was successfully incorporated into superparamagnetic Fe3O4@mSiO2 core–shell nanoparticles to combine the merit of NIR/magnetic resonance (MR) bimodal imaging properties with NIR photothermal therapy. The resultant nanoparticles were homogenously coated with poly(allylamine hydrochloride) (PAH) to make the surface of the composite nanoparticles positively charged, which would enhance cellular uptake driven by electrostatic interactions between the positive surface of the nanoparticles and the negative surface of the cancer cell. A high biocompatibility of the achieved nanoparticles was demonstrated by using a cell cytotoxicity assay. Moreover, confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) observations indicated excellent NIR fluorescent imaging properties of the ICG‐loaded nanoparticles. The relatively high r2 value (171.6 mM ?1 s?1) of the nanoparticles implies its excellent capability as a contrast agent for MRI. More importantly, the ICG‐loaded nanoparticles showed perfect NIR photothermal therapy properties, thus indicating their potential for simultaneous cancer diagnosis as highly effective NIR/MR bimodal imaging probes and for NIR photothermal therapy of cancerous cells.  相似文献

Compared to imaging in the visible and near‐infrared regions below 900 nm, imaging in the second near‐infrared window (NIR‐II, 1000–1700 nm) is a promising method for deep‐tissue high‐resolution optical imaging in vivo mainly owing to the reduced scattering of photons traversing through biological tissues. Herein, semiconducting single‐walled carbon nanotubes with large diameters were used for in vivo fluorescence imaging in the long‐wavelength NIR region (1500–1700 nm, NIR‐IIb). With this imaging agent, 3–4 μm wide capillary blood vessels at a depth of about 3 mm could be resolved. Meanwhile, the blood‐flow speeds in multiple individual vessels could be mapped simultaneously. Furthermore, NIR‐IIb tumor imaging of a live mouse was explored. NIR‐IIb imaging can be generalized to a wide range of fluorophores emitting at up to 1700 nm for high‐performance in vivo optical imaging.  相似文献

Persistent luminescence nanoparticles (PLNPs) hold great promise for the detection and imaging of biomolecules. Herein, we have demonstrated a novel nanoprobe, based on the manganese dioxide (MnO2)‐modified PLNPs, that can detect and image glutathione in living cells and in vivo. The persistent luminescence of the PLNPs can be efficiently quenched by the MnO2 nanosheets. In the presence of glutathione (GSH), MnO2 was reduced to Mn2+ and the luminescence of PLNPs can be restored. The persistent luminescence property can allow detection and imaging without external excitation and avoid the background noise originating from the in situ excitation. This strategy can offer a promising platform for detection and imaging of reactive species in living cells or in vivo.  相似文献

We report the synthesis, photophysical and electrochemical properties, and in vivo fluorescence imaging of a series of new thieno–pyrrole‐fused near‐infrared (NIR) BODIPY agents by using a versatile intermediate as a building block. The versatile thieno–pyrrole‐fused BODIPY intermediate was rationally designed to bear bromo‐substituents and absorb in the mid‐red region (635 nm) to act as an organic electrophile for the development of NIR multifunctional agents. The use of subsequent palladium‐catalyzed and nucleophilic substitution reactions afforded highly conjugated NIR BODIPYs. The novel BODIPYs exhibit long‐wavelength absorptions in the NIR region (650–840 nm). The agents produce sharp fluorescence bands, and most of them display respectable quantum yields of fluorescence (0.05–0.87) useful for biomedical imaging, as demonstrated by in vivo imaging with SBDPiR740 . Interestingly, a number of agents in the series that are non‐halogenated were reactive to O2 at the triplet photo‐excited state coupled with a favorable redox potential and decent fluorescence, and hence could be potential candidates for use as photosensitizers in fluorescence‐guided photodynamic therapy. Furthermore, the synthetic approach allows further functionalization of the highly conjugated NIR BODIPYs to tune the excited states (PET, ICT) and to conjugate targeting moieties for enhanced biological applications.  相似文献

Multifunctional NaGdF4:Yb3+,Er3+,Nd3+@NaGdF4:Nd3+ core–shell nanoparticles (called Gd:Yb3+,Er3+,Nd3+@Gd:Nd3+ NPs) with simultaneously enhanced near‐infrared (NIR)‐visible (Vis) and NIR‐NIR dual‐conversion (up and down) luminescence (UCL/DCL) properties were successfully synthesized. The resulting core–shell NPs simultaneously emitted enhanced UCL at 522, 540, and 660 nm and DCL at 980 and 1060 nm under the excitation of a 793 nm laser. The enhanced UCL and DCL can be explained by complex energy‐transfer processes, Nd3+→Yb3+→Er3+ and Nd3+→Yb3+, respectively. The effects of Nd3+ concentration and shell thickness on the UCL/DCL properties were systematically investigated. The UCL and DCL properties of NPs were observed under the optimal conditions: a shell Nd3+ content of 20 % and a shell thickness of approximately 5 nm. Moreover, the Gd:Yb3+,Er3+,Nd3+@Gd:20 % Nd3+ NPs exhibited remarkable magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) properties similar to that of a clinical agent, Omniscan. Thus, the core–shell NPs with excellent UCL/DCL/magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) properties have great potential for both in vitro and in vivo multimodal bioimaging.  相似文献

Small (2–28 nm) NaREF4 (rare earth (RE)=Nd–Lu, Y) nanoparticles (NPs) were prepared by an oil/water two‐phase approach. Meanwhile, hydrophilic NPs can be obtained through a successful phase‐transition process by introducing the amphiphilic surfactant sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS) into the same reaction system. Hollow‐structured NaREF4 (RE=Y, Yb, Lu) NPs can be fabricated in situ by electron‐beam lithography on solid NPs. The MTT assay indicates that these hydrophilic NPs with hollow structures exhibit good biocompatibility. The as‐prepared hollow‐structured NPs can be used as anti‐cancer drug carriers for drug storage/release investigations. Doxorubicin hydrochloride (DOX) was taken as model drug. The release of DOX from hollow α‐NaLuF4:20 % Yb3+, 2 % Er3+ exhibits a pH‐sensitive release patterns. Confocal microscopy observations indicate that the NPs can be taken up by HeLa cells and show obvious anti‐cancer efficacy. Furthermore, α‐NaLuF4:20 % Yb3+, 2 % Er3+ NPs show bright‐red emission under IR excitation, making both the excitation and emission light fall within the “optical window” of biological tissues. The application of α‐NaLuF4:20 % Yb3+, 2 % Er3+ in the luminescence imaging of cells was also investigated, which shows a bright‐red emission without background noise.  相似文献

Sr8MgCe(PO4)7:Eu2+,Mn2+ phosphor with whitlockite‐type structure was prepared by a combustion‐assisted solid‐state reaction. The crystal structure and luminescence properties were investigated. Under UV radiation, Sr8MgCe(PO4)7 host exhibits a violet‐blue emission band from Ce3+ ions. When Eu2+/Mn2+ are doped into the host, the samples excited with 270 nm UV radiation present multicolor emissions due to the energy transfer (ET) from Ce3+ to Eu2+/Mn2+. The emitting color of Sr8MgCe(PO4)7:Eu2+ can be tuned from violet‐blue to yellow‐green, whereas Sr8MgCe(PO4)7:Mn2+ can emit red light. Under excitation with long wavelength at 360 nm, Sr8MgCe(PO4)7:Eu2+ phosphor shows a broadband emission from 390 to 700 nm, which is attributed to the 4f65d1→4f7 transition of Eu2+ without the contribution from Ce3+ emission. Tunable full‐color emitting light can be achieved in the Eu2+ and Mn2+‐codoped Sr8MgCe(PO4)7 phosphor by ETEu–Mn through control of the levels of doped Eu2+ and Mn2+ ions. These results suggest that Sr8MgCe(PO4)7:Eu2+,Mn2+ phosphor has potential applications in NUV chip pumped white LEDs.  相似文献

Deep tissue bioimaging with three‐photon (3P) excitation using near‐infrared (NIR) light in the second IR window (1.0–1.4 μm) could provide high resolution images with an improved signal‐to‐noise ratio. Herein, we report a photostable and nontoxic 3P excitable donor‐π‐acceptor system (GMP) having 3P cross‐section (σ3) of 1.78×10?80 cm6 s2 photon?2 and action cross‐section (σ3η3) of 2.31×10?81 cm6 s2 photon?2, which provides ratiometric fluorescence response with divalent zinc ions in aqueous conditions. The probe signals the Zn2+ binding at 530 and 600 nm, respectively, upon 1150 nm excitation with enhanced σ3 of 1.85×10?80 cm6 s2 photon?2 and σ3η3 of 3.33×10?81 cm6 s2 photon?2. The application of this probe is demonstrated for ratiometric 3P imaging of Zn2+ in vitro using HuH‐7 cell lines. Furthermore, the Zn2+ concentration in rat hippocampal slices was imaged at 1150 nm excitation after incubation with GMP, illustrating its potential as a 3P ratiometric probe for deep tissue Zn2+ ion imaging.  相似文献

NIR light responsive nanoplatforms hold great promise for on‐demand drug release in precision cancer medicine. However, currently available systems utilize “always‐on” photothermal transducers that lack target specificity, and thus inaccurately differentiate tumors from normal tissues. Developed here is a theranostic nanoplatform featuring H2S‐mediated in situ production of NIR photothermal agents for imaging‐guided and photocontrolled drug release. The system targets H2S‐rich cancers. This nanoplatform shows H2S‐activatable NIR‐II emission and NIR light controllable release of the drug Camptothecin‐11. Upon administering the system to HCT116 tumor‐bearing mice, the tumor is greatly suppressed with minimal side effects, arising from the synergy of the cancer‐specific and NIR light activated therapy. This theranostic nanoplatform thus sheds light on precision medicine with guidance through NIR‐II imaging.  相似文献

Multicolor upconversion (UC) luminescence of NaYF4:Yb3+/Er3+ nanoparticles (NPs) was successfully tuned by simply controlling the NaF dosage. Unlike UC nanocrystals previously reported in the literature with multicolor emission obtained by varying the rare‐earth dopants, the current work developed a new approach to tune the UC emission color by controlling the NaF concentration without changing the ratio and dosage of rare‐earth ions. TEM and powder XRD were used to characterize the shape, size, and composition of the UC luminescent nanocrystals. The luminescence images, emission spectra, and multicolor emission mechanism of the NPs have also been demonstrated. As a result of the excellent ability of this new method to manipulate color emission, this will open up new avenues in the areas of bioprobes, light‐emitting devices, color displays, lasers, and so forth. To demonstrate their biological applications, the water‐stable, biocompatible, and bioconjugatable NaYF4:Yb3+/Er3+@poly(acrylic acid) NPs were synthesized by this developed strategy and applied in targeted‐cell UC luminescence imaging.  相似文献
