Let B(EF) be the Banach Space of all continuous linear operators from a Banach Space E into a Banach space F. Let UX and UY be balanced open subsets of Banach spaces X and Y, respectively. Let V and W be two Nachbin families of continuous weights on UX and UY, respectively. Let HV(UXE) (or HV0(UXE)) and HW(UYF) (or HW0(UYF)) be the weighted spaces of vector-valued holomorphic functions. In this paper, we investigate the holomorphic mappings ? : UY → UX and ψ : UY → B(EF) which generate weighted composition operators between these weighted spaces.  相似文献

We solve the following three questions concerning surjective linear isometries between spaces of Lipschitz functions Lip(X,E) and Lip(Y,F), for strictly convex normed spaces E and F and metric spaces X and Y:
(i)
Characterize those base spaces X and Y for which all isometries are weighted composition maps.
(ii)
Give a condition independent of base spaces under which all isometries are weighted composition maps.
(iii)
Provide the general form of an isometry, both when it is a weighted composition map and when it is not.
In particular, we prove that requirements of completeness on X and Y are not necessary when E and F are not complete, which is in sharp contrast with results known in the scalar context.  相似文献

For every space X let K(X) be the set of all compact subsets of X. Christensen [J.P.R. Christensen, Necessary and sufficient conditions for measurability of certain sets of closed subsets, Math. Ann. 200 (1973) 189-193] proved that if X,Y are separable metrizable spaces and F:K(X)→K(Y) is a monotone map such that any LK(Y) is covered by F(K) for some KK(X), then Y is complete provided X is complete. It is well known [J. Baars, J. de Groot, J. Pelant, Function spaces of completely metrizable space, Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 340 (1993) 871-879] that this result is not true for non-separable spaces. In this paper we discuss some additional properties of F which guarantee the validity of Christensen's result for more general spaces.  相似文献

A quasi-metric space (X,d) is called sup-separable if (X,ds) is a separable metric space, where ds(x,y)=max{d(x,y),d(y,x)} for all x,yX. We characterize those preferences, defined on a sup-separable quasi-metric space, for which there is a semi-Lipschitz utility function. We deduce from our results that several interesting examples of quasi-metric spaces which appear in different fields of theoretical computer science admit semi-Lipschitz utility functions. We also apply our methods to the study of certain kinds of dynamical systems defined on quasi-metric spaces.  相似文献

This paper deals with maximization of set functions defined as minimum values of monotone linkage functions. In previous research, it has been shown that such a set function can be maximized by a greedy type algorithm over a family of all subsets of a finite set. In this paper, we extend this finding to meet-semilattices.We show that the class of functions defined as minimum values of monotone linkage functions coincides with the class of quasi-concave set functions. Quasi-concave functions determine a chain of upper level sets each of which is a meet-semilattice. This structure allows development of a polynomial algorithm that finds a minimal set on which the value of a quasi-concave function is maximum. One of the critical steps of this algorithm is a set closure. Some examples of closure computation, in particular, a closure operator for convex geometries, are considered.  相似文献

It is known that a vector bundle E on a smooth projective curve Y defined over an algebraically closed field is semistable if and only if there is a vector bundle F on Y such that both H0(X,EF) and H1(X,EF) vanishes. We extend this criterion for semistability to vector bundles on curves defined over perfect fields. Let X be a geometrically irreducible smooth projective curve defined over a perfect field k, and let E be a vector bundle on X. We prove that E is semistable if and only if there is a vector bundle F on X such that Hi(X,EF)=0 for all i. We also give an explicit bound for the rank of F.  相似文献

Let FX,Y(x,y) be a bivariate distribution function and Pn(x), Qm(y), n, m = 0, 1, 2,…, the orthonormal polynomials of the two marginal distributions FX(x) and FY(y), respectively. Some necessary conditions are derived for the co-efficients cn, n = 0, 1, 2,…, if the conditional expectation E[Pn(X) ∥ Y] = cnQn(Y) holds for n = 0, 1, 2,…. Several examples are given to show the application of these necessary conditions.  相似文献

We study the weak metric approximation property introduced by Lima and Oja. We show that a Banach space X has the weak metric approximation property if and only if F(Y,X), the space of finite rank operators, is an ideal in W(Y,X∗∗), the space of weakly compact operators for all Banach spaces Y.  相似文献

Let X and Y be compact Hausdorff spaces, and E and F be locally solid Riesz spaces. If π:C(X,E)→C(Y,F) is a 1-biseparating Riesz isomorphism then X and Y are homeomorphic, and E and F are Riesz isomorphic. This generalizes the main results of [Z. Ercan, S. Önal, Banach-Stone theorem for Banach lattice valued continuous functions, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 135 (9) (2007) 2827-2829] and [X. Miao, C. Xinhe, H. Jiling, Banach-Stone theorems and Riesz algebras, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 313 (1) (2006) 177-183], and answers a conjecture in [Z. Ercan, S. Markov processes Xt on (X, FX) and Yt on (Y, FY) are said to be dual with respect to the function f(x, y) if Exf(Xt, y) = Eyf(x, Yt for all x ? X, y ? Y, t ? 0. It is shown that this duality reverses the role of entrance and exit laws for the processes, and that two previously published results of the authors are dual in precisely this sense. The duality relation for the function f(x, y) = 1{x<y} is established for one-dimensional diffusions, and several new results on entrance and exit laws for diffusions, birth-death processes, and discrete time birth-death chains are obtained.  相似文献

If XY are two classes of analytic functions in the unit disk D and θ is an inner function, θ is said to be (X,Y)-improving, if every function fX satisfying fθY must actually satisfy fθX. This notion has been recently introduced by K.M. Dyakonov. In this paper we study the (X,Y)-improving inner functions for several pairs of spaces (X,Y). In particular, we prove that for any p∈(0,1) the (Qp,BMOA)-improving inner functions and the (Qp,B)-improving inner functions are precisely the inner functions which belong to the space Qp. Here, B is the Bloch space. We also improve some results of Dyakonov on the subject regarding Lipschitz spaces and Besov spaces.  相似文献

A metric space (X,d) is monotone if there is a linear order < on X and a constant c>0 such that d(x,y)≦cd(x,z) for all x<y<zX. Properties of continuous functions with monotone graph (considered as a planar set) are investigated. It is shown, for example, that such a function can be almost nowhere differentiable, but must be differentiable at a dense set, and that the Hausdorff dimension of the graph of such a function is 1.  相似文献

Let π:XY be a surjective continuous map between Tychonoff spaces. The map π induces, by composition, an injective morphism C(Y)→C(X) between the corresponding rings of real-valued continuous functions, and this morphism allows us to consider C(Y) as a subring of C(X). This paper deals with finiteness properties of the ring extension C(Y)⊆C(X) in relation to topological properties of the map π:XY. The main result says that, for X a compact subset of Rn, the extension C(Y)⊆C(X) is integral if and only if X decomposes into a finite union of closed subsets such that π is injective on each one of them.  相似文献

Let V be a finite set with |V|=n. A family F⊆2V is called laminar if for all two sets X,YF, XY≠∅ implies XY or XY. Given a laminar family F, a demand function , and a monotone concave cost function , we consider the problem of finding a minimum-cost such that x(X)?d(X) for all XF. Here we do not assume that the cost function F is differentiable or even continuous. We show that the problem can be solved in O(n2q) time if F can be decomposed into monotone concave functions by the partition of V that is induced by the laminar family F, where q is the time required for the computation of F(x) for any . We also prove that if F is given by an oracle, then it takes Ω(n2q) time to solve the problem, which implies that our O(n2q) time algorithm is optimal in this case. Furthermore, we propose an algorithm if F is the sum of linear cost functions with fixed setup costs. These also make improvements in complexity results for source location and edge-connectivity augmentation problems in undirected networks. Finally, we show that in general our problem requires Ω(2n/2q) time when F is given implicitly by an oracle, and that it is NP-hard if F is given explicitly in a functional form.  相似文献

Let G be a topological group with the identity element e. Given a space X, we denote by Cp(X,G) the group of all continuous functions from X to G endowed with the topology of pointwise convergence, and we say that X is: (a) G-regular if, for each closed set FX and every point xX?F, there exist fCp(X,G) and gG?{e} such that f(x)=g and f(F)⊆{e}; (b) G?-regular provided that there exists gG?{e} such that, for each closed set FX and every point xX?F, one can find fCp(X,G) with f(x)=g and f(F)⊆{e}. Spaces X and Y are G-equivalent provided that the topological groups Cp(X,G) and Cp(Y,G) are topologically isomorphic. We investigate which topological properties are preserved by G-equivalence, with a special emphasis being placed on characterizing topological properties of X in terms of those of Cp(X,G). Since R-equivalence coincides with l-equivalence, this line of research “includes” major topics of the classical Cp-theory of Arhangel'ski? as a particular case (when G=R).We introduce a new class of TAP groups that contains all groups having no small subgroups (NSS groups). We prove that: (i) for a given NSS group G, a G-regular space X is pseudocompact if and only if Cp(X,G) is TAP, and (ii) for a metrizable NSS group G, a G?-regular space X is compact if and only if Cp(X,G) is a TAP group of countable tightness. In particular, a Tychonoff space X is pseudocompact (compact) if and only if Cp(X,R) is a TAP group (of countable tightness). Demonstrating the limits of the result in (i), we give an example of a precompact TAP group G and a G-regular countably compact space X such that Cp(X,G) is not TAP.We show that Tychonoff spaces X and Y are T-equivalent if and only if their free precompact Abelian groups are topologically isomorphic, where T stays for the quotient group R/Z. As a corollary, we obtain that T-equivalence implies G-equivalence for every Abelian precompact group G. We establish that T-equivalence preserves the following topological properties: compactness, pseudocompactness, σ-compactness, the property of being a Lindelöf Σ-space, the property of being a compact metrizable space, the (finite) number of connected components, connectedness, total disconnectedness. An example of R-equivalent (that is, l-equivalent) spaces that are not T-equivalent is constructed.  相似文献

For two complex-valued harmonic functions f and F defined in the open unit disk Δ with f(0)=F(0)=0, we say f is weakly subordinate to F if f(Δ)⊂F(Δ). Furthermore, if we let E be a possibly infinite interval, a function with f(⋅,t) harmonic in Δ and f(0,t)=0 for each tE is said to be a weak subordination chain if f(Δ,t1)⊂f(Δ,t2) whenever t1,t2E and t1<t2. In this paper, we construct a weak subordination chain of convex univalent harmonic functions using a harmonic de la Vallée Poussin mean and a modified form of Pommerenke's criterion for a subordination chain of analytic functions.  相似文献

The fundamental best-possible bounds inequality for bivariate distribution functions with given margins is the Fréchet–Hoeffding inequality: If H denotes the joint distribution function of random variables X and Y whose margins are F and G, respectively, then max(0,F(x)+G(y)−1)H(x,y)min(F(x),G(y)) for all x,y in [−∞,∞]. In this paper we employ copulas and quasi-copulas to find similar best-possible bounds on arbitrary sets of bivariate distribution functions with given margins. As an application, we discuss bounds for a bivariate distribution function H with given margins F and G when the values of H are known at quartiles of X and Y.  相似文献

In recent papers (cf. [J.L. Arregui, O. Blasco, (p,q)-Summing sequences, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 274 (2002) 812-827; J.L. Arregui, O. Blasco, (p,q)-Summing sequences of operators, Quaest. Math. 26 (2003) 441-452; S. Aywa, J.H. Fourie, On summing multipliers and applications, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 253 (2001) 166-186; J.H. Fourie, I. Röntgen, Banach space sequences and projective tensor products, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 277 (2) (2003) 629-644]) the concept of (p,q)-summing multiplier was considered in both general and special context. It has been shown that some geometric properties of Banach spaces and some classical theorems can be described using spaces of (p,q)-summing multipliers. The present paper is a continuation of this study, whereby multiplier spaces for some classical Banach spaces are considered. The scope of this research is also broadened, by studying other classes of summing multipliers. Let E(X) and F(Y) be two Banach spaces whose elements are sequences of vectors in X and Y, respectively, and which contain the spaces c00(X) and c00(Y) of all X-valued and Y-valued sequences which are eventually zero, respectively. Generally spoken, a sequence of bounded linear operators (un)⊂L(X,Y) is called a multiplier sequence from E(X) to F(Y) if the linear operator from c00(X) into c00(Y) which maps (xi)∈c00(X) onto (unxn)∈c00(Y) is bounded with respect to the norms on E(X) and F(Y), respectively. Several cases where E(X) and F(Y) are different (classical) spaces of sequences, including, for instance, the spaces Rad(X) of almost unconditionally summable sequences in X, are considered. Several examples, properties and relations among spaces of summing multipliers are discussed. Important concepts like R-bounded, semi-R-bounded and weak-R-bounded from recent papers are also considered in this context.  相似文献

Let (X,Y),(X1,Y1),(X2,Y2),… denote independent positive random vectors with common distribution function F(x,y)=P(X?x,Y?y) with F(x,y)<1 for all x,y. Based on the Xi and the Yj we construct the sum sequences and respectively. For a double sequence of weighting constants {b(n,m)} we associate a weighted renewal function G(x,y) defined as . The function G(x,y) can be expressed in terms of well-known renewal quantities. The main goal of this paper is to study asymptotic properties of G(x,y). In the one-dimensional case such results have been obtained among others by Omey and Teugels [Weighted renewal functions: a hierarchical approach, Adv. in Appl. Probab. 34 (2002) 394-415.] and Alsmeyer [Some relations between harmonic renewal measures and certain first passage times, Statist. Probab. Letters 12 (1991) 19-27; On generalized renewal measures and certain first passage times, Ann. Probab. 20 (1992) 1229-1247]. Here we prove a multivariate version of the elementary renewal theorem and moreover we obtain a rate of convergence result in this elementary renewal theorem. We close the paper with an application and some concluding remarks. For convenience we prove and formulate the results in the two-dimensional case only.  相似文献
