Poly(diethylsiloxane) and its copolymers with various kinds of R1R2SiO (R1 = R2 = methyl or phenyl, or R1 = methyl and R2 = phenyl) units have been prepared by the equilibrium polymerization of cyclosiloxanes. All the polymers have been characterized by 1H and 29Si NMR, gel permeation chromatography, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) measurements. The results indicate that a random distribution of different units has been obtained in the structures of copolymers containing 50 mol % diethylsiloxane units content. DSC and DMA show that the presence of 2.5 mol % diphenylsiloxane units or 5.0 mol % methylphenylsiloxane units in the copolymer can disrupt the crystallinity and lead to noncrystalline copolymers with low glass‐transition temperatures (ranging from ?133 to ?137 °C according to DSC). © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of crosslinked siloxane/poly(ethylene glycol) (Si–PEG) copolymers were synthesized from the reactive methoxy‐functional silicone resin (Si resin) and PEGs with different molecular weights via two kinds of crosslinking reactions during an in situ curing stage. One of the crosslinking reactions is the self‐condensation between two methoxy groups in the Si resin, and another one is an alkoxy‐exchange reaction between the methoxy group in the Si resin and the OH group in PEG. The synthesized crosslinked copolymers were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, DSC, and 13C NMR. The crosslinked copolymers were stable in a moisture‐free environment, but the Si? O? C linkages were hydrolyzed in humid conditions. The gel‐like solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) were prepared by impregnating these crosslinked Si–PEG copolymers in a propylene carbonate (LiClO4/PC) solution. The highest conductivity reached 2.4 × 10?4 S cm?1 at 25 °C and increased to 8.7 × 10?4 S cm?1 at 85 °C. The conductivities of these gel‐type SPEs were affected by the content of LiClO4/PC, the molecular weights of PEGs, and the weight fraction of the Si resin. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 1,4‐Bis(vinyldiphenylsilyl)benzene ( I ) has been prepared and copolymerized by Pt‐catalyzed hydrosilylation with 1,9‐dihydridodecamethylpentasiloxane ( II ), 3,5,7‐tris(3′,3′,3′‐trifluoropropyl)‐1,1,3,5,7,9,9‐heptamethylpentasiloxane ( III ) and two different α,ω‐bis(hydrido)polydimethylsiloxanes (PDMS). The monomers and polymers were fully characterized by IR, UV, 1H, 13C, 19F, and 29Si‐NMR spectroscopy. The starting PDMS polymers and the product copolymers were further characterized by GPC, DSC, and TGA. The polymers showed thermal transitions characteristic to thermoplastic elastomers. The 1,4‐bis(ethyldiphenylsilyl)benzene moieties displayed melting transitions above room temperature while copolymer glass transition temperatures were below room temperature. Fluorescence spectra and quantum efficiencies of I and copolymers have been determined. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 44: 4825–4831, 2006  相似文献

Biodegradable, amphiphilic, diblock poly(ε‐caprolactone)‐block‐poly(ethylene glycol) (PCL‐b‐PEG), triblock poly(ε‐caprolactone)‐block‐poly(ethylene glycol)‐block‐poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL‐b‐PEG‐b‐PCL), and star shaped copolymers were synthesized by ring opening polymerization of ε‐caprolactone in the presence of poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether or poly(ethylene glycol) or star poly(ethylene glycol) and potassium hexamethyldisilazide as a catalyst. Polymerizations were carried out in toluene at room temperature to yield monomodal polymers of controlled molecular weight. The chemical structure of the copolymers was investigated by 1H and 13C NMR. The formation of block copolymers was confirmed by 13C NMR and DSC investigations. The effects of copolymer composition and molecular structure on the physical properties were investigated by GPC and DSC. For the same PCL chain length, the materials obtained in the case of linear copolymers are viscous whereas in the case of star copolymer solid materials are obtained with low Tg and Tm temperatures. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Dimethyl bicyclobutane‐1,3‐dicarboxylate was synthesized. Its homopolymer (PDBD) containing exclusively cyclobutane rings in its backbone was prepared by free radical polymerization. The copolymers of this bicyclobutane monomer with methyl methacrylate were also prepared. The glass transition temperature of the homopolymer is 159°C, while those of its copolymers are 143 and 121°C with 75/25 and 50/50 of the P(DBD/MMA) composition ratio, respectively. The Tg of PDBD homopolymer is substantially higher than that of commercial PMMA homopolymer despite a lower molecular weight, and is also much higher than that of its monomethyl cyclobutanecarboxylate analogue. These DBD homopolymer and copolymers also show better thermostability than the PMMA homopolymer. The weight‐average molecular weight of homopolymer is 37,000. The polydispersities of these polymers are relatively narrow, with the range of 1.6–1.9. These polymers form clear colorless films resembling PMMA film. The DBD homopolymer film shows a very similar optical cutoff compared to PMMA. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci A: Polym Chem 37: 1569–1575, 1999  相似文献

The quasi‐living cationic copolymerization of 3,3‐bis(chloromethyl)oxetane (BCMO) and ε‐caprolactone (ε‐CL), using boron trifluoride etherate as catalyst and 1,4‐butanediol as coinitiator, was investigated in methylene chloride at 0°C. The resulting hydroxyl‐ended copolymers exhibit a narrow molecular weight polydispersity and a functionality of about 2. The reactivity ratios of BCMO (0.26) and ε‐CL (0.47), and the Tg of the copolymers, indicate their statistical character. The synthesis of poly(3,3‐bis(azidomethyl)oxetane‐co‐ε‐caprolactone) from poly(BCMO‐co‐ε‐CL) via the substitution of the chlorine atoms by azide groups, using sodium azide in DMSO at 110°C, occurs without any degradation, but the copolymers decompose at about 240°C. All polymers were characterized by vapor pressure osmometry or steric exclusion chromatography, 1H‐NMR and FTIR spectroscopies, and DSC. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Linear and symmetric star block copolymers of styrene and isoprene containing [C60] fullerene were synthesized by anionic polymerization and appropriate linking postpolymerization chemistry. In all block copolymers, the C60 was connected to the terminal polyisoprene (PI) block. The composition of the copolymers was kept constant (~30% wt PI), whereas the molecular weight of the diblock chains was varied. The polymers were characterized with a number of techniques, including size exclusion chromatography, membrane osmometry, and 1H NMR spectroscopy. The combined characterization results showed that the synthetic procedures followed led to well‐defined materials. However, degradation of the fractionated star‐shaped copolymers was observed after storage for 2 months at 4 °C, whereas the nonfractionated material was stable. To further elucidate the reasons for this degradation, we prepared and studied a four‐arm star copolymer with the polystyrene part connected to C60 and a six‐arm star homopolymer of styrene. These polymers as well as linear copolymers end‐capped, through ? N<, with C60 were stable. Possible reasons are discussed. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A novel vinyl‐hydantoin monomer, 3‐(4′‐vinylbenzyl)‐5,5‐dimethylhydantoin, was synthesized in a good yield and was fully characterized with Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and 1H NMR spectra. Its homopolymer and copolymers with several common acrylic and vinyl monomers, such as vinyl acetate, acrylonitrile, and methyl methacrylate, were readily prepared under mild conditions. The polymers were characterized with FTIR and 1H NMR, and their thermal properties were analyzed with differential scanning calorimetry studies. The halogenated products of the corresponding copolymers exhibited potent antibacterial properties against Escherichia coli, and the antibacterial properties were durable and regenerable. The structure–property relationships of the polymers were further discussed. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 39: 3348–3355, 2001  相似文献

1‐[2′‐(Heptaphenylcyclotetrasiloxanyl)ethyl]‐1,3,3,5,5‐pentamethylcyclotetrasiloxane ( II ) was prepared from 1‐[2′‐(methyldichlorosilyl)ethyl]‐1,3,3,5,5,7,7‐heptaphenylcyclotetrasiloxane ( I ) and tetramethyldisiloxane‐1,3‐diol. Acid‐catalyzed ring‐opening of II in the presence of tetramethyldisiloxane gave 1,9‐dihydrido‐5‐[2′‐(heptaphenylcyclotetrasiloxanyl)ethyl]nonamethylpentasiloxane ( III ) and 1,9‐dihydrido‐3‐[2′‐(heptaphenylcyclotetrasiloxanyl)ethyl]nonamethylpentasiloxane ( IV ). Both acid‐ and base‐catalyzed ring‐opening polymerization of II gives highly viscous, transparent polymers. The structures of I – IV and polymers were determined by UV, IR, 1H, 13C, and 29Si NMR spectroscopy. In addition, molecular weights obtained by GPC and NMR end group analysis were confirmed with mass spectrometry. On the basis of 29Si NMR spectroscopy, the polymers appear to result exclusively from ring‐opening of the cyclotrisiloxane ring. No evidence for ring‐opening of the cyclotetrasiloxane ring was observed. Polymer properties were determined by DSC and TGA. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This article reports the synthesis of the block and graft copolymers using peroxygen‐containing poly(methyl methacrylate) (poly‐MMA) as a macroinitiator that was prepared from the atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of methyl methacrylate (MMA) in the presence of bis(4,4′‐bromomethyl benzoyl peroxide) (BBP). The effects of reaction temperatures on the ATRP system were studied in detail. Kinetic studies were carried out to investigate controlled ATRP for BBP/CuBr/bpy initiating system with MMA at 40 °C and free radical polymerization of styrene (S) at 80 °C. The plots of ln ([Mo]/[Mt]) versus reaction time are linear, corresponding to first‐order kinetics. Poly‐MMA initiators were used in the bulk polymerization of S to obtain poly (MMA‐b‐S) block copolymers. Poly‐MMA initiators containing undecomposed peroygen groups were used for the graft copolymerization of polybutadiene (PBd) and natural rubber (RSS‐3) to obtain crosslinked poly (MMA‐g‐PBd) and poly(MMA‐g‐RSS‐3) graft copolymers. Swelling ratio values (qv) of the graft copolymers in CHCl3 were calculated. The characterizations of the polymers were achieved by Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), 1H‐nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR), gel‐permeation chromatography (GPC), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and the fractional precipitation (γ) techniques. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Branched sulfonated poly(ether ketone sulfone)s (Br‐SPEKS) were prepared with bisphenol A, bis(4‐fluorophenyl)sulfone, 3,3′‐disodiumsulfonyl‐4,4′‐difluorobenzophenone, and THPE (1,1,1‐tris‐p‐hydroxyphenylethane), respectively, at 180 °C using potassium carbonate in NMP (N‐methylpyrrolidinone). THPE, as a branching agent, was used with 0.4 mol % of bisphenol A to synthesize branched copolymers. Copolymers containing 10–50 mol % disulfonated units were cast from dimethylsulfoxide solutions to form films. Linear sulfonated poly(ether ketone sulfone)s (SPEKS) were also synthesized without THPE. The films were converted from the salt to acid forms with dilute hydrochloric acid. A series of copolymers were studied by Fourier transform infrared, 1H‐NMR spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Sorption experiments were conducted to observe the interaction of sulfonated polymers with water and methanol. The ion‐exchange capacity (IEC), a measure of proton conductivity, was evaluated. The synthesized Br‐SPEKS and SPEKS membranes exhibit conductivities (25 °C) from 1.04 × 10?3 to 4.32 × 10?3 S/cm, water swell from 20.18 to 62.35%, IEC from 0.24 to 0.83 mequiv/g, and methanol diffusion coefficients from 3.2 × 10?7 to 4.7 × 10?7 cm2/S at 25 °C. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Strongly asymmetric chlorinated polybutadiene‐b‐polystyrene, [P((CB)xb‐(PS)y)] diblock copolymers with increasing x/(x + y) ratios (up to 5.2 mol %) have been synthesized by the selective chlorination of the polybutadiene (PB) block in solution. Chlorination has been performed in anhydrous dichloromethane added with an antioxidant [2,2′‐methylenebis‐(6‐tert‐butyl‐4‐methyl‐phenol)], at −50°C, under a continuous Ar flow and in the dark. Under the optimized experimental conditions, the PB chlorination is not complete, but the PS block is left unmodified. Even in the presence of a large chlorine excess (Cl2/butene unit molar ratio of 2.5), the experimental degree of chlorination of homo PB does not exceed 85%. The chlorinated copolymers have been characterized by 1H‐NMR, IR spectroscopy, size‐exclusion chromatography, and elemental analysis. The chlorinated copolymers have also been studied by DSC and SAXS after annealing at 150°C. Although at this temperature the parent homopolymers are immiscible, no microphase separation has been observed for the block copolymers. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Hyperbranched poly(ether sulfone) was prepared in the presence of an oligomeric linear poly(ether sulfone) to generate multiblock hyperbranched‐linear (LxHB) copolymers. The LxHB copolymers were prepared in a two‐step, one‐pot synthesis by first polymerizing AB monomer to generate a linear block of a desired molecular weight followed by addition of the AB2 monomer in a large excess (19:1, AB2:AB) to generate the hyperbranched block. NMR integration analysis indicates that AB2:AB ratio is independent of the reaction time. Because the molecular weight still increases with reaction time, these results suggest that polymer growth continues after consumption of monomer by condensation into a multiblock architecture. The LxHB poly(ether sulfone)s have better thermal stability (10% mass loss > 343 vs. 317 °C) and lower Tg (200 vs. > 250 °C) than the hyperbranched homopolymer, higher Tg than the linear homopolymer (<154 °C), while little difference in the solubility character was observed between the two polymers. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Cationic ring‐opening copolymerization behavior of 1,5,7,11‐tetraoxaspiro[5.5]undecane (SOC1) and ε‐caprolactone (CL), and the thermal behavior of the obtained copolymers are described. When SOC1 and CL were cationically copolymerized under various feed ratios using BF3OEt2 as the initiator in CH2Cl2 at 25 °C, the corresponding copolymers were obtained in 77–99% yields. The 1H NMR spectroscopic analysis of the copolymers revealed that the copolymer compositions were almost identical to the feed ratios, and the diad ratios of SOC1–SOC1/SOC1–CL and CL–SOC1/CL–CL are 48.0/52.0 and 54.3/45.7. These observations proved the random structures of the copolymers without containing the long blocks of the homopolymer sequences. Differential scanning calorimetric (DSC) analysis revealed that the melting points and melting entharpies decreased with the increase of the SOC1 unit compositions, suggesting that the copolymers gain flexibility as the SOC1 unit increases. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Model copolymers of poly(butadiene) (PB) and poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS), PB‐b‐PDMS‐b‐PB, were synthesized by sequential anionic polymerization (high vacuum techniques) of 1,3‐butadiene and hexamethylciclotrisiloxane (D3) on sec‐BuLi followed by chlorosilane‐coupling chemistry. The synthesized copolymers were characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR), size‐exclusion chromatography (SEC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). SEC and 1H NMR results showed low polydispersity indexes (Mw/Mn) and variable siloxane compositions, whereas DSC and TGA experiments indicated that the thermal stability of the triblock copolymers depends on the PDMS composition. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of random copolymers poly(3‐ethynylthiophene)‐copoly(2‐(4‐decyloxyphenyl)‐5‐(4‐ethynylphenyl)‐1,3,4‐oxadiazole) with different oxadiazole content ( P2 – P4 ) and homopolymer poly(3‐ethynylthiophene) ( P1 ) as well as poly(2‐(4‐decyloxyphenyl)‐5‐(4‐ethynylphenyl)‐1,3,4‐oxadiazole) ( P5 ) were prepared. The copolymers ( P2 – P4 ) are completely soluble in common organic solvents. The structures and properties of all polymers were characterized and evaluated by FTIR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, TGA, UV, PL, GPC, and nonlinear optical (NLO) analyses. The incorporation of diaryl‐oxadiazole into polyacetylene‐containing thiophene significantly endows copolymers with higher thermal stability, which may origin from the synergetic effect of the “jacket effect” of diaryl‐oxadiazole units and the effect of retarding or eliminating a few 6π‐electrocycliaztion proceeds of oxadiazole‐containing polyacetylene due to the hindrance of thiophene units. When the copolymer ( P3 ) posses more regular alternating thiophene pendants and oxadiazole pendants arrangement along the polymer backbone, it shows good thermal stability (Td up to 388 °C) and larger third‐order nonlinear optical susceptibility (χ(3) up to 11.0 × 10?11 esu). © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Cationic polymerization of tetrahydrofuran (THF) and epichlorohydrin (ECH) was performed with peroxy initiators synthesized from bis (4,4′‐bromomethyl benzoyl peroxide (BBP) or bromomethyl benzoyl t‐butyl peroxy ester (t‐BuBP) and AgSbF6 or ZnCl2 system at 0 °C to obtain the poly(THF‐b‐ECH) macromonomeric peroxy initiators. Kinetic studies were accomplished for poly(THF‐b‐ECH) initiators. Poly(THF‐b‐ECH‐b‐MMA) and poly(THF‐b‐ECH‐b‐S) block copolymers were synthesized by bulk polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) and styrene (S) with poly(THF‐b‐ECH) initiators. The quantum chemical calculations for the block copolymers, the initiating systems of the cationic polymerization of THF and ECH were achieved using HYPERCHEM 7.5 program. The optimized geometries of the polymers were investigated with the quantum chemical calculations. Poly(THF‐b‐ECH) initiators having peroxygen groups were used for graft copolymerization of polybutadien (PBd) to obtain poly(THF‐b‐ECH‐g‐PBd) crosslinked graft copolymers. The graft copolymers were investigated by sol‐gel analysis. Swelling ratio values of the graft copolymers in CHCl3 were calculated. The new acrylamide monomer, N‐(4‐Bromophenyl)‐2‐methacrylamide (BrPMAAm) has been synthesized by reacting 4‐Bromoaniline with methacryloyl chloride in the presence of triethylamine(NR3) at 0–5°C. The radical‐initiated copolymerization of (BrPMAAm), with 2‐acrylamido‐2‐methyl‐1‐propanesulfonic acid (AMPS) has been carried out in dimethylformamide (DMF) solution at 70±1°C using 2,2′‐azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as an initiator with different monomer‐to‐monomer ratios in the feed. The copolymers were characterized by FTIR, 1H‐ and 13C‐NMR spectroscopy. The copolymer composition was evaluated by nitrogen content (N for AMPS‐units) in polymers led to the determination of reactivity ratios. The monomer reactivity ratios for BrPMAAm (M1)‐AMPS (M2) pair were computed using the Fineman‐Ross (F‐R), Kelen‐Tüdös (KT) and Extended Kelen‐Tüdös (EKT) methods. These parameters were also estimated using a non‐linear computational fitting procedure, known as reactivity ratios error in variable model (RREVM). The mean sequence lengths determination indicated that the copolymer was statistically in nature. By TGA and DSC analyses, the thermal properties of the polymers have been studied. The antimicrobial effects of polymers were also tested on various bacteria, and yeast.  相似文献

The syntheses and characterization of linear silarylene‐siloxane‐diacetylene polymers 3a–c and their thermal conversion to crosslinked elastomeric materials 4a–c are discussed. Inclusion of the diacetylene unit required synthesis of an appropriate monomeric species. 1,4‐Bis(dimethylaminodimethylsilyl)butadiyne [(CH3)2N? Si(CH3)2? C?C? C?C? (CH3)2Si? N(CH3)2] 2 was prepared from 1,4‐dilithio‐1,3‐butadiyne and 2 equiv of dimethylaminodimethylchlorosilane. The linear polymers were prepared via polycondensation of 2 with a series of disilanol prepolymers. The low molecular weight silarylene‐siloxane prepolymers 1a–c (terminated by hydroxyl groups) were synthesized via solution condensation of an excess amount of 1,4‐bis(hydroxydimethylsilyl)benzene with bis(dimethylamino)dimethylsilane. The linear polymers were characterized by 1H and 13C NMR, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, gel permeation chromatography, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and DSC. The elastomers exhibited long‐term oxidative stability up to 330 °C in air as determined by TGA. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 40: 88–94, 2002  相似文献
