We report on recent progress on external cavity diode lasers (ECDL) using a new concept of a Littman/Metcalf configuration. Within this concept one facet of the diode laser chip is used for coupling to a high quality Littman/Metcalf resonator whereas the other side of the diode laser chip emits the output beam. The alignment of the external resonator is independent from the alignment of the output beam and there is no need for any compromise in the alignment. This results in an improved behavior of the external resonator with the benefit of a drastic increase in power and single mode tuning.We investigated this light source for high resolution spectroscopy in the field of cw-cavity ring-down spectroscopy (CRDS). The monitoring of environmental and medical gases from vehicles or human breath requires a suitable radiation source in the mid-infrared (MIR) between 3 and 5 μm that is frequency stable and can be widely tuned. Since this wavelength cannot be reached via direct emitting room temperature semiconductor lasers, additional techniques like difference frequency generation (DFG) are essential. Tunable difference frequency generation relies on high power, small linewidth, fast tunable, robust laser diode sources with excellent beam quality.With our new compact, alignment-insensitive and robust ECDL concept, we achieved an output power of 1000 mW and an almost Gaussian shaped beam quality (M2<1.2). The coupling efficiency for optical waveguides as well as single mode fibers exceeds 70%. The wavelength is widely tunable within the tuning range of 20 nm via remote control. This laser system operates longitudinally in single mode with a mode-hop free tuning range of more than 150 GHz without current compensation and a side-mode-suppression better than 50 dB. This concept is currently realized within the wavelength regime between 750 and 1080 nm.Our high powered Littman/Metcalf laser system was part of a MIR-light source which utilizes DFG in periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) crystals. At the wavelength of 3.3 μm we were able to achieve a high-resolution absorption spectrum of water with four different isotoplogues of H2O components. A high stable wavelength-tunable fiber laser is experimentally demonstrated by using a digital-micromirror-device (DMD) processor and a polarization-maintaining erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA).The electronic-addressed DMD processor is able to select and couple a waveband from of the polarization-maintaining EDFA back into the fiber ring to generate a narrow line-width laser output. The tunable fiber laser shows a line-width of 0.02 nm, a tuning step of 0.08 nm over the c-band and a side mode suppression ratio (SMSR) greater than 50 dB. The output power uniformity of 0.01 mW is achieved by using the automatic power control (APC) system under room temperature. The center wavelength fluctuation during 1 h is below 0.01 nm.  相似文献

提出了一种多环形腔(MRC)结构的稳定可调的单纵模(SLM)掺铒光纤激光器,多环形腔结构由双环形有源腔和两个次级无源腔组成.这种激光器是利用光纤法布里珀罗可调滤波器(FFP-TF)以及光学光栅滤波器(OGF)两种滤波器和多环形腔结构相结合来共同选模.可实现波长调节范围为1528~1565 nm,在整个波长调节范围内边模抑制比大于44.53 dB,在1554 nm附近边模抑制比可以达到最大值51.18 dB, 输出功率为-8.84 dBm,通过应用多环型腔结构,激光器的输出很稳定,在18 min的观察时间内,中心波长的变化小于0.02 nm,输出功率的变化小于0.04 dBm,实现了稳定且可调谐的单纵模输出.  相似文献

基于偏振态调谐原理,利用多个偏振控制器在环形腔掺Er3+光纤激光器中实现了连续可调谐、窄线宽、高信噪比的单频激光输出.连续调谐宽度达22 nm (1538~1560 nm),3 dB谱线宽度小于0.1 nm,光信号-自发辐射噪音比大于45 dB,最大输出功率约1 mW.在10~50 mW泵浦功率范围内,输出功率波动幅度小于1 dB.在室温下,工作数十个小时,中心波长漂移小于0.05nm.  相似文献

报道了一个光纤型1300 nm波段的傅里叶域锁模(Fourier domain mode locking, FDML)扫频激光光源, 用于扫频光学相干层析成像技术 (optical coherence tomography, OCT) 成像. 本实验扫频激光光源采用包含增益介质、调谐滤波器和延迟线组成的长腔激光谐振腔以及光功率增强单元. FDML扫频激光光源具有快速和高度稳定运转模式, 相位稳定性好. 基于法布里-珀罗调谐滤波器(fiber Fabry-Perot tunable filter, FFP-TF)的FDML扫频激光光源扫频范围为130 nm, 半高全宽为70 nm, 输出平均功率是11 mW. 与基于FFP-TF的短腔的扫频光源做了对比研究, FDML扫频光源速度从短腔的8 kHz提高到了48.12 kHz, 对应生物组织OCT成像轴向分辨率为7.8 μm, 比短腔的减小了1.9 μm. 关键词: 光学相干层析技术 扫频激光光源 傅里叶域锁模 法布里-珀罗调谐滤波器  相似文献

What is to the authors' knowledge the first experimental demonstration of a nonresonant cw Raman laser pumped by a tunable external-cavity diode laser (ECDL) is presented. The ECDL is phase-frequency locked to a high-finesse Raman laser cavity containing diatomic hydrogen (H(2)) by the Pound-Drever-Hall locking technique. The Stokes lasing threshold occurs at a pump power of 400 +/- 30 muW, and a maximum photon conversion efficiency of 12.0 +/- 1.3% is achieved at 1.6 mW of pump power. A 40-nm tuning range of the cw Stokes emission, 1174-1214 nm, is obtained by tuning of the wavelength of the ECDL pump source.  相似文献

应用单级偏振无关的准共线型声光可调谐滤波器为调谐元件,实现了环形腔掺铒光纤激光器的连续可调谐激光输出.简要阐述了与偏振无关的准共线型声光可调谐滤波器的工作原理,对其频移补偿原理进行了分析.实验研究得到:当抽运功率为13mW时,中心波长为1550nm的激光输出功率为322μW,阈值抽运功率在7.65mW左右,斜率效率约为6.02%;并获得了38nm带宽(1524.7—1562.4nm)的连续可调谐激光输出.  相似文献

We report the development of a ring tunable fiber laser based on tunable fiber Bragg gratings (TFBG) integrated with an optical circulator. The TFBG is embedded inside a 3-piont bending device for wavelength tuning. The tunable laser operating in the C-band has power variation, tuning resolution, tuning range and laser line width of ±0.5 dB, 0.5 nm, 25.0 nm and less than 0.05 nm, respectively. As 40 mW of pump power is used, the ring tunable laser has a side mode suppression ratio of 60 dB and a power conversion efficiency of 25%. These specifications ensure the high-quality operation of a tunable laser.  相似文献

研究了激光二极管抽运的可调频差的双频固体激光器,激光增益介质为2mm厚的1at%掺杂Nd:YAG薄片.对谐振腔产生稳定双频激光的条件作了分析,用琼斯矩阵计算了谐振腔内各处电场矢量的偏振态,证明了双频激光两个电场矢量偏振态之间总是正交的.两个偏振激光频率间隔由改变λ/4波片快轴之间的夹角实现调谐.实验中使用腔内标准具实现单频运转,然后插入双λ/4波片使单纵模激光频率分裂,实现了激光器的双频输出.实验中得到双频激光稳定运转时频差的上限约为1.3GHz;由于强模竞争现象的存在,实验中所观察到的频差下限为50MHz. 100MHz拍频时得到的双频激光输出功率为85mW. 关键词: 激光技术 固体激光器 双频激光  相似文献

报道了一种利用偏振控制器(PC)和保偏光纤(PMF)组成的高双折射Sagnac干涉环实现选频和调谐的环形腔掺铒光纤激光器.理论模拟了PMF和PC对波长的控制作用.实验中调节PC得到了单波长、双波长和多波长激光;并验证了滤波间隔随PMF长度的变化规律.实验中得到了斜率效率20%,3 dB线宽0.016 nm,30 dB线宽0.097 nm,边模抑制比(SMSR)40 dB左右的稳定激光输出. 关键词: 光纤激光器 Sagnac干涉环 环形腔 掺铒光纤  相似文献

微片固体激光器具有体积小、寿命长等优点,是精密测量仪器的重要光源。构建了平-平、半外腔的Nd:YAG和Nd:YVO4微片激光器,通过控制压电陶瓷伸缩改变激光器的谐振腔长,同时使用F-P扫描干涉仪和波长计观察纵模和波长。研究了这2种微片固体激光器的腔调谐特性,包括腔长与光功率的关系,激光纵模扫过出光带宽过程的光功率和单、双纵模变化的规律。实验结果表明:腔调谐过程中单、双纵模交替出现,腔长和泵浦电流共同影响激光器的输出模式和光功率。  相似文献

External-cavity diode laser (ECDL) has important applications in many fundamental and applied researches. Here we report a method to fast and widely tune the frequency of a stabilized ECDL. The beat frequency between the ECDL and a frequency-locked reference laser is identified by the voltage-controlled oscillator contained in a phase detector, whose output voltage is subtracted from the flexibly controlled PC signal to generate an error signal for stabilizing the ECDL. The output frequency of the stabilized ECDL can be shifted at a short characteristic time of ~ 150 μs within a range of ~ 620 MHz. The wide and fast-frequency tuning achieved by our method is compared with other previous works. We demonstrated the performance of our method by the efficient sub-Doppler cooling of Cs atoms with the temperature as low as 6 μK.  相似文献

报道了两个增益开关调制的法布里-珀罗半导体激光器互注入锁定实验方案,可产生双波长可调谐光脉冲。该装置对两个结构基本相同的法布里珀罗半导体激光器做增益开关调制,产生多模光脉冲输出;然后利用两个光纤光栅作为滤波元件,通过调节可调谐光延迟线(VODL2),可使得双波长光脉冲在两个法布里-珀罗激光器之间相互注入锁定.从而在输出端得到高边模抑制比的双波长光脉冲输出。然后再通过应力作用在两个光纤光栅上以改变它们的反射波长和适当调整另一个可调谐光延迟线(VODLI)长度.可得到不同的双波长的光脉冲输出,而重复频率保持524.6MHz不变。在13.2nm调谐范围内边模抑制比高于25dB.系统稳定且波长调节方便。  相似文献

A wavelength tunable erbium-doped fiber ring laser with flattened output power spectrum over a broadband is proposed and demonstrated. The power flattening is achieved using a high-birefringence fiber loop mirror, in which a number of high-birefringence fiber sections and polarization controllers are used to get a reflection spectrum that can compensate for the output power spectrum. The wavelength tuning is realized by compressing or stretching the FBGs in the laser cavity. A 1×3 switchable fiber Bragg grating array is incorporated into the fiber ring to get a wideband tuning range of 38 nm, from 1527 to 1565 nm. Within this range, the output power uniformity is controlled within ±0.8 dB. The total output power is about 4 dBm, the 3-dB linewidth is 0.01 nm, and the side mode suppression ratio is more than 48 dB.  相似文献

多纵模高光谱分辨率激光雷达是一种新型的高光谱分辨率激光雷达.本文在研究典型高功率Nd:YAG脉冲激光器的多纵模模式及其在大气中传输的气溶胶米散射和瑞利散射光谱的基础上,设计紫外域多纵模高光谱分辨率激光雷达系统,采用窄带干涉滤光片滤除太阳背景光的影响,设计可调谐马赫-曾德尔干涉仪,分离提取多纵模激光回波中的气溶胶米散射和瑞利散射光谱,并利用马赫-曾德尔干涉仪双通道输出的互补性原理,精确反演气溶胶光学参量.系统仿真结果表明,所设计的紫外域多纵模高光谱分辨率激光雷达能够实现10 km高度内的气溶胶光学参量精细探测.  相似文献

A broadband tunable, single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) Ytterbium fiber laser with unpumped Ytterbium-doped Sagnac loop is proposed and demonstrated experimentally. The unpumped Ytterbium-doped Sagnac loop is employed as a saturable absorber based auto-tracking filter to ensure single-longitudinal-mode oscillation. And a tunable band pass optical filter with large tuning range is applied to achieve broadband tuning ability. With 1-m Ytterbium-doped fiber as the gain medium, the SLM operation is achieved with over 60-nm wavelength tuning range at 160-mW pump power. The laser is very stable with output power of about 3 dBm and optical signal to noise ratio of higher than 50 dB in all the 60-nm tuning range.  相似文献

设计了一种新颖的快速可调谐激光器。这种激光器在恒定电流泵浦的有源微环组成的半导体环形激光器腔外部集成一个可调谐的无源微环反射器,其结构将决定激光器激射腔模的有源腔和无源可调谐部分分离,有助于提高调谐速度。与光栅结构的激光器相比,该激光器结构简单,具有强烈的选模功能,不需要相位匹配部分,输出波长不受调谐部分热效应的影响。基于多模速率方程建立了激光器的理论和数值模型,数值仿真结果表明该激光器能在选取的15个腔模范围内完成数字调谐,且具有40 mA的较低阈值电流和适中的边模抑制比。  相似文献

采用闪耀光栅作为色散元件,构建了前向、后向输出两种结构的可调谐掺Yb3 光子晶体光纤激光器,并对其输出特性进行了分析研究.在抽运功率5.75W时,前向输出结构实现了1050.6~1110.2 nm的连续调谐输出,光谱线宽约0.1 nm,边模抑制比大于44 dB.在调谐激光波长为1085 nm时,得到最高输出功率677 mW.结构改进的后向输出结构的可调谐输出结构在抽运功率4.43 W,调谐波长1075 nm,实现了2.21 W的功率输出,斜率效率为73%;调谐范围50.9 nm(1042.1~1093 nm),光谱线宽小于0.08 nm,边模抑制比大于50 dB.两种结构的可调谐激光器输出均为线偏振光,偏振度大于89.5%.  相似文献

利用闪耀光栅构成可调谐Littrow外腔,对掺Yb3+双包层光纤激光器的波长调谐输出进行了实验研究.激光调谐输出波长范围70nm.针对光纤内的双折射效应对激光的输出功率的影响,实验中使用了在线光纤偏振控制器,从而有效地减小了调谐曲线的起伏及其与荧光谱的差别,并得到了窄线宽、线偏振、宽带调谐的激光输出.  相似文献
