A single KDP (potassium dihydrogen phosphate) crystal was grown in a supersaturated solution containing a metallic ion (Al3+, Fe3+, or Cr3+). The growth rate, morphology, and distribution of the metallic ions into the KDP crystal were measured as the ionic concentration and supersaturation in the solution changed. It was found that in the KDP crystal, Al3+ and Fe3+ were greatly concentrated, but Cr3+ was diluted. Complete expressions for the effect of metallic ions on all aspects of the growth of KDP crystal were suggested. The growth rates of (100) and (101) faces were well correlated by the empirical equation and resulted in good estimation of morphology. The distribution of metallic ions into KDP crystal was also correlated by the distribution model. (© 2006 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim) 相似文献

This paper reports crystal growth and optical characteristics of dysprosium (Dy3+) and erbium (Er3+) doped mid‐infrared laser crystal ternary‐potassium‐lead‐chloride (KPb2Cl5). Two transparent crystals with good optical quality have been grown successfully by using the Bridgman technique,the largest crystal size reaches up to ∅︁10×60mm2. Measurements of X‐ray diffraction(XRD) and absorption spectra were carried out. Based on Judd‐Ofelt theory, the intensity parameters Ωt(t=2,4,6), the experimental and theoretical oscillator strengths have been obtained.The intensity parameters Ωt(t=2,4,6) of Er3+:KPb2Cl5 were calculated to be Ω2=5.10×10‐20 cm2, Ω4=1.25×10‐20 cm2, Ω6=0.83×10‐20 cm2, and the values for Dy3+:KPb2Cl5 were calculated to be Ω2=6.26×10‐20 cm2, Ω4=2.45×10‐20 cm2, Ω6=0.04×10‐20 cm2 respectively. The two‐dimensional (2D) distributions of surface supersaturation of sodium chlorate crystals with and without solutal convection have been measured by means of a multidirectional interferometry (MDI) technique coupled with the principles of three‐dimensional (3D) computer tomography. When solutal convection was present over a top face, the supersaturation at the center of the face was depleted by a factor of >0.9 with reference to the value at the edges of the crystal. When the convection was suppressed using an upside‐down geometry, the depletion of supersaturation at the center of the face was much smaller, <0.4. Therefore, the supersaturation difference between the edges and the face center, which is responsible for the morphological stability due to volume diffusion for the solute, becomes less important compared to the effect of convection due to hydrodynamic reasons. This result should give us a key to solve why the crystal quality is sometimes better in convection‐free microgravity conditions because of improved stability of a crystal face caused by more homogeneous distribution of supersaturation over the crystal surface. 相似文献

To grow ZnO single crystals from a high temperature solution of the ZnO‐PbF2 system, a gas cooling system was assembled at the bottom of the crucible to induce nucleation in the initial growth stage. The growth experiments were carried out in a homemade vertical Bridgman furnace and Pt crucible of 28 mm in diameter was used. The furnace temperature was set to 1100°C and the flow rate of the oxygen gas was optimized as 3.0 l/min. ZnO crystal up to 5∼8mm in the thickness was obtained with the lowering rate of 0.3 mm/h. XRD patterns showed that the as‐grown crystal was pure ZnO Wurtzite phase. The impurity ions were analyzed by the glow discharge mass spectroscopy (GDMS) as 390.0 ppm and 40.0 ppm for Pb2+ and F‐, respectively. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim) 相似文献

Infrared imaging furnace was used to grow single crystals of Ba2YRu1‐xCuxO6 and Ba2PrRu1‐xCuxO6 using high temperature solutions of PbO‐PbF2 in the form of a bubble attached to the feed rods. Several small crystals were found deposited on the cooler portions of the sintered rod as well as in the drop like portion at the end of the rod. These crystals were collected and the morphology, microstructure and magnetic properties were studied. The details of these investigations are presented. (© 2004 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
