Pure and 0.14 at.%Ti alloyed Zn single crystals have been grown by the Bridgman technique. The alloyed crystal exhibits a sheet‐like precipitation structure parallel to the basal plane of the hexagonal solid solution Zn‐Ti matrix. The tetragonal precipitates are intermetallic compounds of Zn16Ti composition. They are needle‐shaped with the needle axis peferentially aligned along the <a> axis. The approximate orientation relationship between precipitate and matrix is (0001)<11$\bar 2$ 0>Matrix||(010)[001]Zn16Ti. To study the influence of alloying on the mechanical properties, the critical resolved shear stress for basal slip has been measured in compression at different temperatures and strain rates. Potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP) crystals were restrained to grow in two dimensions only, using a specially designed platform. This enables us to grow the blanks of frequency conversion elements that satisfy type‐II phase matching direction out of a type‐II phase‐matched seed crystal. Synchrotron radiation topography was used to study the growth mechanism of these profiling grown KDP crystals. It is found that both dislocation growth mechanism and layer growth mechanism were involved in the growing process. Inclusions, growth striations and dislocations were the main defects that influenced the crystalline quality of these crystals. High‐resolution X‐ray diffraction was employed to study the lattice integrality of the crystal.  相似文献

Single crystals of L‐ascorbic acid, popularly known as vitamin‐C, were grown from solutions with different solvents and solvent combinations by low temperature solution growth methods. The suitability of different solvents and solvent combinations such as acetone, ethanol, methanol, isopropyl alcohol, water, water + acetone (1:1), water + ethanol (3:1), water + isopropyl alcohol (3:1) and isopropyl alcohol + methanol (1:1) for crystal growth of L‐ascorbic acid was found out by assessing the solubility and crystallization behaviours. Solubility of L‐ascorbic acid in selected solvents and solvent combinations in a range of temperatures was determined by gravimetric method. Solution prepared with water, water + acetone (1:1), water + ethanol (3:1) and water + isopropyl alcohol (3:1) were yielded crystals with tabular, columnar and prismatic habits and their morphologies were evaluated by goniometry. Grown single crystals were characterized with various instrumental techniques such as powder X‐ray diffraction, Fourier infrared spectroscopy, optical transmittance study, differential scanning calorimetry and second harmonic generation studies. Bulk GaN single crystals were grown using a solvent‐thermal method. They were grown for 200 h at 600 °C and 800 °C using 8 MPa of N2 gas and 1–3 mm sized pyramid GaN single crystals. Pure Na, NaN3 and Ca were used as the flux. The mole fraction of the [flux]/([flux] + [Ga]) was 0.30–0.67. The growth behavior differed according to the flux ratio. The quality of the bulk GaN single crystals was improved by increasing the flux ratio. The bulk GaN single crystals formed by spontaneous nucleation were deposited on the BN crucible wall and bottom during the first step of synthesis. The wurtzite structure of the GaN grown single crystal was confirmed by x‐ray diffration. The chemical composition was analyzed by electron probe microanalysis. Bidirectional temperature gradients coexist virtually in surface tension driven flows. However, the simulations have been performed to the flow with only one temperature gradient. A series of 3 D numerical simulations are conducted to investigate the Marangoni‐thermocapillary flow of silicon melt in a thin annular layer with bidirectional temperature gradients. The temperature gradients are produced by the temperature difference ΔT between walls and the constant heat flux q on the bottom, respectively. When changing q, the melt presents different state evolutions at different ΔT. Furthermore, two critical q are found, one makes the minimum melt temperature higher than the crystallization temperature and the other makes the flow unsteady. Both of the critical heat fluxes decrease with increasing ΔT. q contributes more to the elevation of the melt temperature, while ΔT contributes more to the enhancement of the melt instability. In addition, the melt on the free surface flows mainly along the radial direction.  相似文献

Submicron, micron and millimeter‐scale In‐rich inclusions with different polyhedral morphologies are observed, which are directionally embedded in the InP matrix along <011> direction. The arrangement direction and morphological change of the In‐rich inclusions at different scales are investigated to reveal their morphology evolution. The relative size of the facets ({100} and {111}P/In) bounding the polyhedral In‐rich inclusions is different from the reported results in other crystals, especially when the size of In‐rich inclusions is up to millimeter‐scale. The growth rate dispersion effect and the initial morphologies of the In‐rich droplets have an obvious effect on the final shape of the In‐rich inclusions. Dislocation enrichment surrounding the In‐rich inclusion is observed, which is contributed to the volume expansion of liquid‐solid phase transition and the difference of the thermal expansion coefficient and thermal conductivity between In‐rich droplet and InP matrix. The size and shape of the dislocation enriched region are closely related to the size and shape of the originating In‐rich droplet and the growth condition.  相似文献

The single crystals of triglycine sulfate doped with bivalent and tetravalent Pt‐ions and with L‐alanine (LADTGS/Pt(II) and LATGS/Pt(IV)) were grown in the ferroelectric phase from low temperature solutions. Using stick seeds the full‐shaped crystals with many growth pyramids have been prepared. The growth rate along the axis c of the doped crystals is much higher than in an undoped one. Morphology, domain structure and PE hysteresis loops have been investigated. The effect of the dopant on the growth velocity is explained on the basis of catalytic action of supposed platinum complexes. The coloration and oxygen vacancies in 0.65Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3‐0.35PbTiO3 (PMN‐PT(65/35)) (starting composition) single crystals grown by a so‐called modified Bridgman technique were investigated in this paper. Light yellow and dark brown colored crystals were generally observed for the typical as‐grown PMN‐PT(65/35) single crystals. X‐ray diffraction results demonstrated that they were both of pure perovskite structure, but good electric properties were only obtained for the light yellow crystal. X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) was used to investigate the electronic structure of its components. The O 1s photoelectron spectra of the dark brown colored crystals located at the higher binding energy side, which meant the existence of the more oxygen vacancies. It accordingly led to the formation of the low valence cations associated with the coloration of the crystals, which is also testified by the obtained X‐ray photoelectron spectra of Ti and Nb.
