Aminonaphthalimide–BODIPY energy transfer cassettes were found to show very fast (kEET≈1010–1011 s?1) and efficient BODIPY fluorescence sensitization. This was observed upon one‐ and two‐photon excitation, which extends the application range of the investigated bichromophoric dyads in terms of accessible excitation wavelengths. In comparison with the direct excitation of the BODIPY chromophore, the two‐photon absorption cross‐section δ of the dyads is significantly incremented by the presence of the aminonaphthalimide donor [δ≈10 GM for the BODIPY versus 19–26 GM in the dyad at λexc=840 nm; 1 GM (Goeppert–Mayer unit)=10?50 cm4 s molecule?1 photon?1]. The electronic decoupling of the donor and acceptor, which is a precondition for the energy transfer cassette concept, was demonstrated by time‐dependent density functional theory calculations. The applicability of the new probes in the one‐ and two‐photon excitation mode was demonstrated in a proof‐of‐principle approach in the fluorescence imaging of HeLa cells. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of the merging of multiphoton excitation with the energy transfer cassette concept for a BODIPY‐containing dyad.  相似文献

A heteroleptic bis(tributylphosphine) platinum(II)‐alkynyl complex ( Pt‐1 ) showing broadband visible‐light absorption was prepared. Two different visible‐light‐absorbing ligands, that is, ethynylated boron‐dipyrromethene (BODIPY) and a functionalized naphthalene diimide (NDI) were used in the molecule. Two reference complexes, Pt‐2 and Pt‐3 , which contain only the NDI or BODIPY ligand, respectively, were also prepared. The coordinated BODIPY ligand shows absorption at 503 nm and fluorescence at 516 nm, whereas the coordinated NDI ligand absorbs at 594 nm; the spectral overlap between the two ligands ensures intramolecular resonance energy transfer in Pt‐1 , with BODIPY as the singlet energy donor and NDI as the energy acceptor. The complex shows strong absorption in the region 450 nm–640 nm, with molar absorption coefficient up to 88 000 M ?1 cm?1. Long‐lived triplet excited states lifetimes were observed for Pt‐1 – Pt‐3 (36.9 μs, 28.3 μs, and 818.6 μs, respectively). Singlet and triplet energy transfer processes were studied by the fluorescence/phosphorescence excitation spectra, steady‐state and time‐resolved UV/Vis absorption and luminescence spectra, as well as nanosecond time‐resolved transient difference absorption spectra. A triplet‐state equilibrium was observed for Pt‐1 . The complexes were used as triplet photosensitizers for triplet–triplet annihilation upconversion, with upconversion quantum yields up to 18.4 % being observed for Pt‐1 .  相似文献

This work investigates the photoinduced energy transfer from poly(N‐vinylcarbazole) (PVK), as a donor material, to fac‐(2,2′‐bipyridyl)Re(CO)3Cl, as a catalyst acceptor, for its potential application towards CO2 reduction. Photoluminescence quenching experiments reveal dynamic quenching through resonance energy transfer in solid donor/acceptor mixtures and in solid/liquid systems. The bimolecular reaction rate constant at solution–film interfaces for the elementary reaction of the excited state with the quencher material could be determined as 8.8(±1.4)×1011 L mol?1 s?1 by using Stern–Volmer analysis. This work shows that PVK is an effective and cheap absorber material that can act efficiently as a redox photosensitizer in combination with fac‐(2,2′‐bipyridyl)Re(CO)3Cl as a catalyst acceptor, which might lead to possible applications in photocatalytic CO2 reduction.  相似文献

A tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) donor is annulated to porphyrins (P) via quinoxaline linkers to form novel symmetric P–TTF–P triads 1 a – c and asymmetric P–TTF dyads 2 a , b in good yields. These planar and extended π‐conjugated molecules absorb light over a wide region of the UV/Vis spectrum as a result of additional charge‐transfer excitations within the donor–acceptor assemblies. Quantum‐chemical calculations elucidate the nature of the electronically excited states. The compounds are electrochemically amphoteric and primarily exhibit low oxidation potentials. Cyclic voltammetric and spectroelectrochemical studies allow differentiation between the TTF and porphyrin sites with respect to the multiple redox processes occurring within these molecular assemblies. Transient absorption measurements give insight into the excited‐state events and deliver corresponding kinetic data. Femtosecond transient absorption spectra in benzonitrile may suggest the occurrence of fast charge separation from TTF to porphyrin in dyads 2 a , b but not in triads 1 a – c . Clear evidence for a photoinduced and relatively long lived charge‐separated state (385 ps lifetime) is obtained for a supramolecular coordination compound built from the ZnP–TTF dyad and a pyridine‐functionalized C60 acceptor unit. This specific excited state results in a (ZnP–TTF)?+ ??? (C60py)?? state. The binding constant of ZnII ??? py is evaluated by constructing a Benesi–Hildebrand plot based on fluorescence data. This plot yields a binding constant K of 7.20×104 M ?1, which is remarkably high for bonding of pyridine to ZnP.  相似文献

A series of new phenothiazine‐based donor–acceptor copolymers, P1 and P2, were synthesized via a Suzuki coupling reaction. The weight‐averaged molecular weights (Mw) of P1 and P2 were found to be 16,700 and 16,100, with polydispersity indices of 1.74 and 1.39, respectively. The UV–visible absorption spectra of the polymer thin films contained three strong absorption bands in the ranges 318–320 nm, 430–436 nm, and 527–568 nm. The absorption peaks at 320 and 430 nm originated mainly from the phenothiazine‐based monomer units, and the longer wavelength absorption band at 527–568 nm was attributed to the increased effective conjugation length of the polymer backbones. Solution‐processed field‐effect transistors fabricated with these polymers exhibited p‐type organic thin film transistor characteristics. The field‐effect mobilities of P1 and P2 were measured to be 1.0 × 10?4 and 7.5 × 10?5 cm2 V?1 s?1, respectively, with on/off ratios in the order of 104 for all polymers. A photovoltaic device in which a P2/PC71BM (1/3) blend film was used as the active layer exhibited an open‐circuit voltage (VOC) of 0.70 V, a short‐circuit current (JSC) of 6.79 mA cm(2, a fill factor of 0.39, and a power conversion efficiency of 1.86% under AM 1.5 G (100 mW cm?2) illumination. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The interactions in the complexes of tetracyanothylene (TCNE) with benzene and p‐xylene, often classified as weak electron donor–acceptor (EDA) complexes, are investigated by a range of quantum chemical methods including intermolecular perturbation theory at the DFT‐SAPT (symmetry‐adapted perturbation theory combined with density functional theory) level and explicitly correlated coupled‐cluster theory at the CCSD(T)‐F12 level. The DFT‐SAPT interaction energies for TCNE–benzene and TCNE–p‐xylene are estimated to be ?35.7 and ?44.9 kJ mol?1, respectively, at the complete basis set limit. The best estimates for the CCSD(T) interaction energy are ?37.5 and ?46.0 kJ mol?1, respectively. It is shown that the second‐order dispersion term provides the most important attractive contribution to the interaction energy, followed by the first‐order electrostatic term. The sum of second‐ and higher‐order induction and exchange–induction energies is found to provide nearly 40 % of the total interaction energy. After addition of vibrational, rigid‐rotor, and translational contributions, the computed internal energy changes on complex formation approach results from gas‐phase spectrophotometry at elevated temperatures within experimental uncertainties, while the corresponding entropy changes differ substantially.  相似文献

A variety of asymmetrically donor–acceptor‐substituted [3]cumulenes (buta‐1,2,3‐trienes) were synthesized by developed procedures. The activation barriers to rotation ΔG were measured by variable temperature NMR spectroscopy and found to be as low as 11.8 kcal mol?1, in the range of the barriers for rotation around sterically hindered single bonds. The central C?C bond of the push–pull‐substituted [3]cumulene moiety is shortened down to 1.22 Å as measured by X‐ray crystallography, leading to a substantial bond length alternation (BLA) of up to 0.17 Å. All the experimental results are supported by DFT calculations. Zwitterionic transition states (TS) of bond rotation confirm the postulated proacetylenic character of donor–acceptor [3]cumulenes. Additional support for the proacetylenic character of these chromophores is provided by their reaction with tetracyanoethene (TCNE) in a cycloaddition‐retroelectrocyclization (CA–RE) cascade characteristic of donor‐polarized acetylenes.  相似文献

A new donor‐acceptor conjugated copolymer (PDTPyDPP), comprising 2,7‐di‐2‐thienyl‐4,5,9,10‐tetrakis(hexyloxy)pyrene as a donor and diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) as an acceptor, was synthesized. PDTPyDPP showed good solubility in common organic solvents, broad visible absorption from 300 to 900 nm, and a moderate hole mobility up to 6.3 × 10?3 cm2 V?1 s?1. The power conversion efficiency of the photovoltaic device based on the PDTPyDPP/PC71BM photoactive layer reached 4.43% with 0.66 V of open‐circuit voltage (Voc), 10.52 mA cm?2 of short‐circuit current (Jsc) and 64.11% of fill factor. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Herein, two new quadrupolar acceptor‐π‐donor‐π‐acceptor (A‐π‐D‐π‐A) chromophores have been prepared featuring a strongly electron‐donating diborene core and strongly electron‐accepting dimesitylboryl (BMes2) and bis(2,4,6‐tris(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)boryl (BFMes2) end groups. Analysis of the compounds by NMR spectroscopy, X‐ray crystallography, cyclic voltammetry, and UV/Vis‐NIR absorption and emission spectroscopy indicated that the compounds have extended conjugated π‐systems spanning their B4C8 cores. The combination of exceptionally potent π‐donor (diborene) and π‐acceptor (diarylboryl) groups, both based on trigonal boron, leads to very small HOMO–LUMO gaps, resulting in strong absorption in the near‐IR region with maxima in THF at 840 and 1092 nm and very high extinction coefficients of ca. 120 000 m ?1 cm?1. Both molecules also display weak near‐IR fluorescence with small Stokes shifts.  相似文献

Two small molecules named BT‐TPD and TBDT‐TTPD with a thieno[3,4‐c]pyrrole‐4,6‐dione (TPD) unit were designed and synthesized for solution‐processed bulk‐heterojunction solar cells. Their thermal, electrochemical, optical, charge‐transport, and photovoltaic characteristics were investigated. These compounds exhibit strong absorption at 460–560 nm and low highest occupied molecular orbital levels (?5.36 eV). Field‐effect hole mobilities of these compounds are 1.7–7.7×10?3 cm2 V?1 s?1. Small‐molecule organic solar cells based on blends of these donor molecules and a acceptor display power conversion efficiencies as high as 4.62 % under the illumination of AM 1.5G, 100 mW cm?2.  相似文献

A new phosphorescent dinuclear cationic iridium(III) complex ( Ir1 ) with a donor–acceptor–π‐bridge–acceptor–donor (D? A? π? A? D)‐conjugated oligomer ( L1 ) as a N^N ligand and a triarylboron compound as a C^N ligand has been synthesized. The photophysical and excited‐state properties of Ir1 and L1 were investigated by UV/Vis absorption spectroscopy, photoluminescence spectroscopy, and molecular‐orbital calculations, and they were compared with those of the mononuclear iridium(III) complex [Ir(Bpq)2(bpy)]+PF6? ( Ir0 ). Compared with Ir0 , complex Ir1 shows a more‐intense optical‐absorption capability, especially in the visible‐light region. For example, complex Ir1 shows an intense absorption band that is centered at λ=448 nm with a molar extinction coefficient (ε) of about 104, which is rarely observed for iridium(III) complexes. Complex Ir1 displays highly efficient orange–red phosphorescent emission with an emission wavelength of 606 nm and a quantum efficiency of 0.13 at room temperature. We also investigated the two‐photon‐absorption properties of complexes Ir0 , Ir1 , and L1 . The free ligand ( L1 ) has a relatively small two‐photon absorption cross‐section (δmax=195 GM), but, when complexed with iridium(III) to afford dinuclear complex Ir1 , it exhibits a higher two‐photon‐absorption cross‐section than ligand L1 in the near‐infrared region and an intense two‐photon‐excited phosphorescent emission. The maximum two‐photon‐absorption cross‐section of Ir1 is 481 GM, which is also significantly larger than that of Ir0 . In addition, because the strong B? F interaction between the dimesitylboryl groups and F? ions interrupts the extended π‐conjugation, complex Ir1 can be used as an excellent one‐ and two‐photon‐excited “ON–OFF” phosphorescent probe for F? ions.  相似文献

RuII–bis‐pyridine complexes typically absorb below 450 nm in the UV spectrum and their molar extinction coefficients are only moderate (ε<16 000 M ?1 cm?1). Thus, RuII–polyimine complexes that show intense visible‐light absorptions are of great interest. However, no effective light‐harvesting ruthenium(II)/organic chromophore arrays have been reported. Herein, we report the first visible‐light‐harvesting RuII–coumarin arrays, which absorb at 475 nm (ε up to 63 300 M ?1 cm?1, 4‐fold higher than typical RuII–polyimine complexes). The donor excited state in these arrays is efficiently converted into an acceptor excited state (i.e., efficient energy‐transfer) without losses in the phosphorescence quantum yield of the acceptor. Based on steady‐state and time‐resolved spectroscopy and DFT calculations, we proposed a general rule for the design of RuII–polypyridine–chromophore light‐harvesting arrays, which states that the 1IL energy level of the ligand must be close to the respective energy level of the metal‐to‐ligand charge‐transfer (M LCT) states. Lower energy levels of 1IL/3IL than the corresponding 1M LCT/3M LCT states frustrate the cascade energy‐transfer process and, as a result, the harvested light energy cannot be efficiently transferred to the acceptor. We have also demonstrated that the light‐harvesting effect can be used to improve the upconversion quantum yield to 15.2 % (with 9,10‐diphenylanthracene as a triplet‐acceptor/annihilator), compared to the parent complex without the coumarin subunit, which showed an upconversion quantum yield of only 0.95 %.  相似文献

A new series of self‐assembled supramolecular donor–acceptor conjugates capable of wide‐band capture, and exhibiting photoinduced charge separation have been designed, synthesized and characterized using various techniques as artificial photosynthetic mimics. The donor host systems comprise of a 4,4‐difluoro‐4‐bora‐3a,4a‐diaza‐s‐indacene (BODIPY) containing a crown ether entity at the meso‐position and two styryl entities on the pyrrole rings. The styryl end groups also carried additional donor (triphenylamine or phenothiazine) entities. The acceptor host system was a fulleropyrrolidine comprised of an ethylammonium cation. Owing to the presence of extended conjugation and multiple chromophore entities, the BODIPY host revealed absorbance and emission well into the near‐IR region covering the 300–850 nm spectral range. The donor–acceptor conjugates formed by crown ether–alkyl ammonium cation binding of the host–guest system was characterized by optical absorbance and emission, computational, and electrochemical techniques. Experimentally determined binding constants were in the range of 1–2×105 M ?1. An energy‐level diagram to visualize different photochemical events was established using redox, computational, absorbance, and emission data. Spectral evidence for the occurrence of photoinduced charge separation in these conjugates was established from femtosecond transient absorption studies. The measured rates indicated ultrafast charge separation and relatively slow charge recombination revealing their usefulness in light‐energy harvesting and optoelectronic device applications. The bis(donor styryl)BODIPY‐derived conjugates populated their triplet excited states during charge recombination.  相似文献

Besides the donor–acceptor (D–A) type, acceptor–acceptor (A–A) polymers are another class of important alternative conjugated copolymers, but have been less studied in the past. In this study, two kinds of A–A polymers, P1 and P2 , have been designed and synthesized based on diketopyrrolopyrrole in combination with the second electron‐deficient unit, perylenediimide or thieno[3,4‐c]pyrrole‐4,6‐dione. UV–vis absorption spectroscopy revealed that these two kinds of polymers have a band gap of 1.28–1.33 eV. Their highest occupied molecular orbital and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital energy levels are around ?5.6 and ?4.0 eV for P1 polymers, whereas ?5.4 and ?3.7 eV for P2 polymers, respectively. Density functional theory study disclosed that P1 backbone is in a vastly twisting state, whereas that of P2 is completely planar. Furthermore, organic field‐effect transistor devices were fabricated using these two kinds of polymers as the active material. Of interest, the devices based on P1 polymers displayed n‐channel behaviors with an electron mobility in the order of 10?4 cm2 V?1 s?1. In contrast, the P2 ‐based devices exhibited only p‐channel charge transportation characteristics with a hole mobility in the order of 10?3 cm2 V?1 s?1. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. [NMe4]2[TCNE]2 (TCNE=tetracyanoethenide) formed from the reaction of TCNE and (NMe4)CN in MeCN has νCN IR absorptions at 2195, 2191, 2172, and 2156 cm?1 and a νCC absorption at 1383 cm?1 that are characteristic of reduced TCNE. The TCNEs have an average central C?C distance of 1.423 Å that is also characteristic of reduced TCNE. The reduced TCNE forms a previously unknown non‐eclipsed, centrosymmetric π‐[TCNE]22? dimer with nominal C2 symmetry, 12 sub van der Waals interatomic contacts <3.3 Å, a central intradimer separation of 3.039(3) Å, and comparable intradimer C???N distances of 3.050(3) and 2.984(3) Å. The two pairs of central C???C atoms form a ?C?C???C?C of 112.6° that is substantially greater than the 0° observed for the eclipsed D2h π‐[TCNE]22? dimer possessing a two‐electron, four‐center (2e?/4c) bond with two C???C components from a molecular orbital (MO) analysis. A MO study combining CAS(2,2)/MRMP2/cc‐pVTZ and atoms‐in‐molecules (AIM) calculations indicates that the non‐eclipsed, C2 π‐[TCNE]22? dimer exhibits a new type of a long, intradimer bond involving one strong C???C and two weak C???N components, that is, a 2e?/6c bond. The C2 π‐[TCNE]22? conformer has a singlet, diamagnetic ground state with a thermally populated triplet excited state with J/kB=1000 K (700 cm?1; 86.8 meV; 2.00 kcal mol?1; H=?2 JSa?Sb); at the CAS(2,2)/MBMP2 level the triplet is computed to be 9.0 kcal mol?1 higher in energy than the closed‐shell singlet ground state. The results from CAS(2,2)/NEVPT2/cc‐pVTZ calculations indicate that the C2 and D2h conformers have two different local metastable minima with the C2 conformer being 1.3 kcal mol?1 less stable. The different natures of the C2 and D2h conformers are also noted from the results of valence bond (VB) qualitative diagram that shows a 10e?/6c bond with one C???C and two C???N bonding components for the C2 conformer as compared to the 6e?/4c bond for the D2h conformer with two C???C bonding components.  相似文献

New porphyrin sensitizers based on donor–π‐acceptor (D‐π‐A) approach have been designed, synthesized, characterized by various spectroscopic techniques and their photovoltaic properties explored. N,N′‐Diphenylamine acts as donor, the porphyrin is the π‐spacer, and either carboxylic acid or cyanoacryclic acid acts as acceptor. All compounds were characterized by using 1H NMR spectroscopy, ESI‐MS, UV–visible emission spectroscopies as well as electrochemical methods. The presence of aromatic groups between porphyrin π‐plane and acceptor group push the absorption of both Soret and Q‐bands of porphyrin towards the red region. The electrochemical properties suggests that LUMO of these sensitizers above the TiO2 conduction band. Finally, the device was fabricated using liquid redox electrolyte (I?/I3?) and its efficiency was compared with that of a leading sensitizer.  相似文献

Ruthenium(III) Phthalocyanines: Synthesis and Properties of Di(halo)phthalocyaninato(1?)ruthenium(III) Di(halo)phthalocyaninato(1?)ruthenium(III), [Ru(X)2Pc?] (X = Cl, Br, I) is prepared by oxidation of [Ru(X)2Pc2?]? (Cl, Br, OH) with halogene in dichloromethane. The magnetic moment of [Ru(X)2Pc?] is 2,48 μB (X = Cl) resp. 2,56 μB (X = Br) in accordance with a systeme of two independent spins (low spin RuIII and Pc?: S = 1/2). The optical spectra of the red violet solution of [Ru(X)2Pc?] (Cl, Br) are typical for the Pc? ligand with the “B” at 13.5 kK, “Q1” at 19.3 kK and “Q2 region” at 31.9 kK. Sytematic spectral changes within the iron group are discussed. The presence of the Pc? ligand is confirmed by the vibrational spectra, too. Characteristic are the metal dependent bands in the m.i.r. spectra at 1 352 and 1 458 cm?1 and the strong Raman line at 1 600 cm?1. The antisymmetric Ru? X stretch (vas(Ru? X)) is observed at 189 cm?1 (X = I) resp. 234 cm?1 (X = Br). There are two interdependent bands at 295 and 327 cm?1 in the region expected for vas(Ru? Cl) attributed to strong interaction of vas(Ru? Cl) with an out-of-plane Pc? tilting mode of the same irreducible representation. Only the symmetric Ru? Br stretch at 183 cm?1 is selectively enhanced in the resonance-Raman(RR) spectra. The Raman line at 168 cm?1 of the diiodo complex is assigned to loosely bound iodine. The broad band at 978 cm?1 in the RR spectra of the dichloro complex is due to an intraconfigurational transition within the electronic ground state of low spin RuIII split by spin orbit coupling.  相似文献

A novel conjugated polymer, poly(thienylene‐vinylene‐thienylene) with cyano substituent ( CN‐PTVT ) was synthesized via Stille coupling for the application in air stable field‐effect transistor and polymer solar cell. The polymer was characterized by 1H NMR, elemental analysis, UV‐vis absorption and photoluminescence spectroscopy, TGA, cyclic voltammetry and XRD analysis. CN‐PTVT exhibits a good thermal stability with 5% weight loss at 306 °C. The FET hole mobility of the polymer reached 5.9 × 10?3 cm2 V?1 s?1 with Ion/Ioff ratio of 4.9 × 104, which is one of the highest performance among the air‐stable amorphous polymers. The polymer solar cell based on CN‐PTVT as donor and PCBM as acceptor shows a relatively high open‐circuit voltage of 0.82 V and a power conversion efficiency of 0.3% under the illumination of AM1.5, 100 mW/cm2. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
